Two years after the Managing Director of NDDC, Mr Nsima Ekere laid the foundation stone for the construction of a permanent NDDC State office in Uyo, the project has been abandoned and taken over by reptiles. Funds earmarked to give Akwa Ibom a permanent NDDC state office have allegedly been diverted to fund the managing director's governorship election. The project site located at Commercial Layout, Atan Offot, Uyo has been abandoned with workers complaining that neither the contractor who was awarded the contract nor any NDDC staff has visited the site in the past three months. Workers at the site who spoke to our reporter said the contractor, Brett Nigeria Limited, has complained bitterly that since Ekere left after laying the foundation stone, no money has been released to his company for the job while officials of the commission insist money for the project was released and the contractor mobilised in full. The NDDC office in the state is located in a rented apartment in Ewet Housing Estate. In contrast, Ekere's predecessor, Ibim Semenitari, gave Rivers State a brand new NDDC state office in less than ten months in office as Acting MD while Akwa Ibom, which is the highest contributor to NDDC has no permanent state office even with an indigene of the state as Managing Director. A Director of the Construction company handling the project lamented that the NDDC approved the release of the funds but Nsima Ekere diverted and converted the money to his personal use and all attempts to have audience with the NDDC boss towards resolving the financial crisis to enable the project kick off have been abortive. He said that each time he goes to Mr Ekere's office or lodge to see him, his security aides insist Mr Ekere does not want to see him, a situation he said has affected the company's ability to continue with the project. Contrary to Mr Ekere's claim of not having the support of the Akwa Ibom State Government, the land for the NDDC office Project was allocated by the State Government in early 2017 to support the state government's willingness to partner with the Commission for the good of the state. The All Progressives Congress (APC), is at war with the the Akwa Ibom people for refusing to "welcome" and imbibe the tenets of an imported imperialistic political party in the state. The APC is a product of contradictions; a group of selfish, greedy, and self- serving politicians whose ultimate aim in politics is material aggrandizement and primitive accumulation of capital. Professor Barry Hampe, a Political Scientist and one of the most reputable scholars in party politics puts paid on the features of a party that is people- oriented and ideology- driven: "A good political party, if such were possible, would have a clear political philosophy, consistent with governance in a democratic republic. It would attract members by the strength of that philosophy, rather than by modifying it to pander to special interest groups. Its members in office would focus on doing the people's work, including making compromise with members of other parties when necessary so that the perfect does not become the enemy of the good. It would stand for maximum personal liberty and economic reality. It would at all times strive to ensure that government is never any larger than it needs to be". Flowing from this theoretical premise, it is crystal clear that the APC has failed Nigeria and Nigerians. The party was built on a cracked foundation and on a false substratum. Its leadership component understands nothing other than deepening the extractive and accumulative essence of the Nigerian state. The APC led federal government has demonstrated to the whole world that he is unrepentantly alien to democratic norms, culture and practice. It directed the DSS invasion of the Akwa Ibom Governor's lodge to satisfy the exploitative instinct of its appendages allies in the state. The President has been unstatesmanly in dealing with perceived political foes- particularly those he believed have contributed in one way or the other to his numerous electoral failures since 1999 or his ouster as Head of State in 1985. The case of Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Col. Sambo Dasuki, Nnamdi Kanu, among others is familiar to Nigerians. It has been reported that President Buhari has flagrantly ignored court orders granting bail to Colonel Dasuki. Where then is the independence of the Judiciary, which is the beauty and fragrance of democracy? Is this APC's model of democracy? Instead of constituting a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, in the South African model, build confidence among the people and strengthen the institutional component of the state, the APC government is going about selective justice, annihilating only PDP members and sympathizers. The former PDP spokesman Olisa Metuh and former PDP Chairman Haliru Bello, and recently, former Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, are examples. In Akwa Ibom State, the APC-led federal government has planted surrogates; men with questionable character and unquenched lust for power, as allies to entrench their extractive and subversive goals. For instance, the choice of Nsima Ekere by the APC is to complete the reign of terror in Akwa Ibom and deepen primitive accumulation. Pundits have argued that Ekere’s blueprint is not only to decimate the population of Akwa Ibom through intimidation and killings as exemplified recently in his party’s congresses, but ultimately to “donate” Akwa Ibom and its resources to the Hausa/ Fulani imperialists and the Yoruba Capitalists under Bola Tinubu. It has been posited that a little above 1000 Akwa Ibom people were openly and remotely murdered through 'the razor' of killers, kidnappers and armed gangs during the reign of terror in Akwa Ibom State. Although this figure appears huge and seemingly speculative to the writer, truth is, it was the black era in Akwa Ibom history from which the state hasn't recovered. It begs to ask, who the pivots of APC in Akwa Ibom State are. It's either those who were disgraced from office for their excessive accumulative instinct, those who wished they could live from the treasury of the state , those who had lost touch with their people at the grassroots and needed a platform to re-launch their career, and those whose overbearing quest for power put them on a collision course with the political system. Another very glaring feature of these political gladiators is that they represent an "unholy alliance," "amalgam of opposites"- those who hitherto had one personality or ego crisis with each other, but engaged in an extra-ordinarily fragile union, to vent their personal misgivings and anger against the political system, mainly because they either could not win at the PDP primaries or were not lost out in the Fiefdom of the immediate- past administration. On April 11, 2015, the All Progressives Congress was roundly rejected by the people of the state in the ballots. While the ruling PDP scored over 996,079 votes, the APC had a paltry 89,865 votes. By possible extrapolation, the APC was roundly defeated and secured less than ten percent of the total votes at the polls. The people of Akwa Ibom prefer the PDP and the Divine Mandate as represented by Governor Udom Emmanuel. As I’d noted in another treatise, God chooses a leader and gives to every society the kind and genre of leader it deserves. I also used an example of Saul who misrepresented God's benevolence and chose to play - god. That was why when the glory of God departed from Saul, he began to have some degree of insanity which ensued till the day he died (1 Samuel 18: 10). Does this not justify the commonly used axiom that "he whom the gods want to destroy, they first make mad"? The people realized that leadership is the soul and ultimate driver of development and needed a leader who could deepen the infrastructural revolution in the state through the creation of jobs, amelioration of poverty and reduction of social inequalities hence the emergence of Udom Gabriel Emmanuel as fourth democratically elected governor of Akwa Ibom State. The Divine Mandate is a social contract between Governor Emmanuel and the people of Akwa Ibom State, whose resolve is unruffled, irrespective of the antics , intrigues and propaganda of the opposition APC in the state, which has deployed a conspiracy theory aimed at upstaging the status quo in the state. Their alliance with the foreign power elite was perfected with the engagement of surrogates for the purpose of smearing the character of the purveyor of the people’s mandate, Governor Udom Emmanuel. APC's current battle with the Akwa Ibom people is geared towards desecrating and demonizing the Governor and ultimately destroying the goodwill which he has garnered ; an indisputable asset for the political, social and economic emancipation of the state. The APC is fully aware that, with the degree of goodwill at the disposal of Governor Emmanuel and the proportion of support by both 'the productive elders' and the youth of the state (optimum population), the governor can always have his way in enacting and executing good policies for the wellbeing of the people. A political party whose ideology is antithetical to justice and equity is to say the least, anti- people . The APC failed the litmus test when in 2015, it vehemently opposed zoning- an egalitarian political culture which the Akwa Ibom people enthroned in the state, and crowned it with the search, adoption and support for the tuskbearer of the Divine Mandate, Governor Udom Emmanuel. The people of Akwa Ibom see APC's incursion as typified in the impending verbal and online debate as a battle to save the soul of the state from the "spirits of doom"- the fallen angels. Winston Churchill also amplified the importance of resolve, political will and timely intervention to avoid unanticipated consequences by asserting that, “If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.” The battle between the APC and the Akwa Ibom people is to the people, "the battle of life"- which the people must fight to safeguard its God-given resources from external incursion ( Tinubu, Buhari, Oshiomhole, etc, and internal collaborators). It is the battle for the soul of Akwa Ibom, which the people must rise to the occasion! Uwemedimoh Umanah, a Diplomatic Scholar, Peace & Conflict/Development/Public Affairs Expert, writes in this piece from Uyo Source: THE WAR BETWEEN APC AND THE AKWA IBOM PEOPLE (2) http://akwaibomdaily.com.ng/the-war-between-apc-and-the-akwa-ibom-people-2/

The VC further rolled out other infrastructure development projects undertaken in the University, expressing appreciation to Governor Emmanuel and wife, Martha, for initiating the ongoing construction of a world-class Engineering Complex, funded by Exxonmobil and constructing and equipping of an Arts Gallery of international standard, the Professor Stella Idiong Arts Gallery, which was commissioned in the University, by the Governor, early this year. As Nigeria's longest serving leader, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday declared support for Governor Udom Emmanuel. In his words, "God is a God of Continuity. Since he created the world. I always say to myself and to my family, If something is good, keep it. Children of God, you have a good product in your hand and if I have a good product in my hand, I will not change it, I will keep it. Governor Udom Emmanuel is a good product, let's have him for continuity." Here are 30 reasons to buttress Obasanjo's call for continuity 1. In less than 4 years, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has delivered good governance, life touching projects, peace, political cohesion, rededicated the state to God and managed a depressing recession. 2. Our brothers in Abia State are so happy, from Amuvi, Asaga, Obinkita, Ibom, Ututu to Ihechiowa, the story is the same, there is a tarred road now linking Akwa Ibom to Abia State. The 14.1km Ikpe Ikot Nkon - Obot Mme - Arochukwu road in Ini Local Government Area is almost completed and the people of Arochukwu in Abia State have already offered a chieftaincy title to honour Governor Udom Emmanuel in appreciation of the road, which ends at the boundary between the two states. By: Ndifreke P. Akpan (Govt House) Governor Udom Emmanuel has pointed out that he would love God to give him the kind of successor he had been to his predecessor in office. Mr Emmanuel who spoke when he worshipped with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at Qua Iboe Church, Uyo said, “I stand in the pulpit as a Christian to say, when it is my time, may God give me the kind of successor I have been to my predecessor.” Apparently reacting to speculations that he may have been too hard against Senator Godswill Akpabio, Governor Emmanuel, attested that when he leaves office in 2023, he would be very happy to receive from his successor, the same measure of treatment he meted on his predecessor. “The Bible says, in all these things we are more than conquerors. The Bible says in Deuteronomy, that the Lord would not hearken unto Balak, and all he meant for evil, God turned it into blessings for me.” Describing Obasanjo as his Political father, Mr. Emmanuel predicted that his visit to Akwa Ibom, signifies more developments for the state and for the country. “I can say that the visit is a solidarity visit of a political father to his son.” Speaking, former President Obasanjo said, Governor Udom Emmanuel has performed well and deserves to be re-elected to continue to do more. "Children of God, we have a good product (Udom Emmanuel) and there is no need for change. He is a true child of God and he will fear not and will stand still, so please Akwa Ibom people continue to stand with him". Obasanjo said he was in the state to congratulate the Governor for performing well, maintaining that, “we should be celebrating Good Leadership. Chief Obasanjo said, “the prayer he has just prayed touched me, and you really have to be sure of yourself, you have to be a man of God, you have to be a Christian, a strong believer to be able to say, God, provide for me a successor that will do to me what I have done for my predecessor.” The ex-president who described God as a God of Continuity posited that, “ I always say to myself and to my family, if something is good, keep it. Children of God, you have a good product in your hand and if I have a good product in my hand, i will not change it, I will keep it." He labelled Governor Emmanuel as a good product, asserting that, "this is a good product, let's have him for continuity. Children of God, I can assure you, the Governor has no fear, he will stand still, please stand with him and he will take you to the Promised Land.” Speaking on the theme: "Fear not, Stand Still", Rev Ibup Emah urged people to desist from being derailed by fear. So far, two persons have been confirmed dead in Akwa Ibom APC primaries. |
~Disoriented presidential aide bites Udoedeghe’s hand to escape ! The Akwa Ibom State APC Governorship primary opened on Sunday on a bloody note following an exchange of blows between Senator J.J. Udoedeghe and Senator Ita Enang at the party’s Secretariat along Ikot Ekpene road in Uyo. Trouble started when officials and materials meant for the primary arrived the Akwa Ibom International Airport, AKIA, Uyo, on board a chartered flight allegedly owned by APC National Leader, Senator Bola Tinubu. The materials were from the airport moved to the party secretariat in Uyo, accompanied by party chieftains and security forces. The materials had barely arrived the party office when Senator Ita Enang in connivance with Senator Godswill Akpabio, started making moves to hijack materials, a move that was vehemently resisted by Udoedeghe. An angry Enang was alleged to have pushed Udoedeghe in the process, a move that sparked tension forcing Udoedeghe to warn the presidential aide against any attempt to rig the process. Moves by Ita Enang to divert the materials through the back door infuriated Udoedeghe who allegedly slapped Enang. This was followed with severe punches on the Ibiono born Senator. In disorientation, Enang who was battling to escape the cold hands of hot blows, held Udoedeghe’s hands and bit it before fleeing to escape. Unknown to Ita Enang, youth loyal to Udoedgehe had before now deflated Enang’s car, making his attempt to escape from the party office difficult. It took spirited effort by security agents in the convoy of the Managing Director of the NDDC, Nsima Ekere, to whisk Enang to safety. Speaking to newsmen, Senator Udoedeghe who is one of the Governorship aspirant accused Ita Enang of being a betrayer. He insisted that he will resist any attempt to rig the primary, harping that all aspirants be allowed to go to the field to test their popularity as anything short of that will be unacceptable to him. “They say they are popular. They have been boasting how they will use money to win but I have the people. Why come to the party secretariat with thugs using bullet proof vests if you are popular? Let’s go to the field and allow the people decide who they want”, he said. Efforts to get the reaction of Ita Enang proved abortive. His media aide, Essien Inyang also declined comments when asked of the incidence by reporters. Unconfirmed reports say Ita Enang was receiving medical attention at an undisclosed medical facility. The state APC publicity secretary, Mr Nkereuwem Enyongekere did not also pick his calls or responded to text messages sent to his phone on the matter. BLOOD BATH, AS AKWA IBOM APC GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARIES END IN VIOLENCE; -AKPABIO, NSIMA EKERE WARSAW HAS STARTED. - UDOEDEGHE ASSAULTS ITA ENANG AS APC GUBER PRIMARIES END IN STALEMATE - APC GUBER PRIMARY: NSIMA EKERE'S THUGS DESTROY POLICE VAN AT AFAHA OFFOT PRIMARY SCHOOL, CART AWAY ELECTION MATERIALS. The Governorship primaries of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has ended in a stalemate. The party had agreed on direct primary format to chose its flagbearer to represent the party in next year's governorship elections. According to reports, party chieftains had gathered at the state party secretariat along Ikot Ekpene road to fine tune last minute preparations and collection of materials. An argument ensued between the Senior Special Assistant to President Mohammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang and former Minister of State, FCT, Senator John Akpan Udoedeghe which led to exchange of blows. Eyewitnesses said Udoedeghe held senator Ita Enang by the shirt and unleashed a slap on his right cheek before attempting to kick him on the thigh. Enang however remained calm as party chieftains intervened in the exchange. Udoedehe, an aspirant accused Enang of conniving with Senator Akpabio and NDDC MD, Nsima Ekere to hijack materials meant for distribution to ward centres and instead presenting fake materials. Just as he promised to make Akwa Ibom uncomfortable for anyone who stands on the way of satisfying his greed, Senator Godswill Akpabio has commenced the actualization of his War saw threats using diabolic means against Governor Udom Emmanuel. The ex-governor and former senate minority leader, who swore on the unseen grave of Hitler, that he will deliver A'Ibom to the APC even if it warrants promoting genocide in the state, is allegedly consulting several traditionalist and wise-men to commune with the gods in other to end the 2019 political tussle in his favour. The Question now is, IS GOVERNOR UDOM EMMANUEL SAFE? Two different bibles.. A picture of Gov. Udom Emmanuel cut into two and placed in the two different bibles.. A plate containing 2 kolanuts. A white handkerchief... A chair covered with white cloth.. Soft drink and a bottle of water.. A moulded idol behind him.. Forks and table knives.. Dressed on a black and black with a black cap to match.. My people, if this isn't diabolic what then is?

Some international artistes invited and promoted, on Saturday shunned a youths prayer endorsement rally in support of the governorship aspiration of Mr Nsima Ekere, and President Muhammadu Buhari in Uyo. Popular comedians AY and Clint De Drunk, reportedly returned N10m participation fee, and returned to Lagos, after discovering that the event they were invited, was nothing short of a political rally to promote President Buhari's re-election and Mr Nsima Ekere's governorship aspiration. Despite the wide publicity and campaigns, the artistes turn down all known overtures and shunned the prayer rally. With the action of promoted artistes, homeboys David Sunday and Solototo had a field day under the rains. However, the few fans who went to stadium immediately left the venue once the heard that the international stars were no longer available. This left the hired crowd numbering over 4,000 who were reportedly brought in from neighbouring states, with nothing exciting to watch under the torrential downpour. Several pictures and media reports indicate that these imported crowd later laid siege on the house of the NDDC MD, Mr Nsima Ekere at Ewet Housing Estate, threatening to vandalise it, following the failure od the organisers to pay them their agreed allowances. Governor Udom Emmanuel has urged aspirants showing interest in his seat to first tell Akwa Ibom people how they are making good use of their current public offices to the benefit of the people of the state. Speaking with Government House reporters shortly on arrival from official engagements at the Ibom International Airport, Governor Emmanuel dismissed the All Progressives Congress in the state, saying they don't sound like people with any genuine agenda for the state. Apparently ruing the failure of the NDDC under the headship of Mr Nsima Ekere to execute any tangible project in Akwa Ibom in the last three years, Governor Emmanuel quipped, "If those they want to bring control budgets of nine states and all the IOCs and you are in Akwa Ibom, you've been here over how many years now, we've not seen even a kilometre of road commissioned with such mongoose sum of money, so what will they now do when they pledged to do 4 years? He dismissed the promise of a one term by the APC promoters, saying, "in four years, how many investors will you talk to? So how many of those factories will arrive for our people to work in?" He urged his opponents to, "tell Akwa Ibom people what are they going to do for Akwa Ibom. I have never heard that for once." The Governor said anyone who controls all the monies of the International Oil Companies, two percent of their budgets plus budgets of 9 states and you don't have a kilometre of road to show. Even the village you come from, there is no transformer, So what magic will you perform?" Governor Emmanuel said his administration can show a lot that he has done in the state in the last three years, and it would be appropriate to also have a glimpse of the programmes and ideas they are bringing to the table. "It is not a time for story telling. Let's look at whether people are coming to loot the little that we have or they are actually coming to add value," Mr. Emmanuel added. The Governor who was impressed with the number of aspirants gunning for the country's number one plum job on the platform of his party, said it was an indication that the PDP was the most sought after party which has the solutions to the myriads of problems plaguing the country. "I want to believe, at the end of the day, whoever we will bring out as a candidate should have a whole lot of solutions to the problems in this country.
