I'm not sure you are using F1 student academic exchange program to apply for your visa that's the reason you are not seeing appointment dates, because right now there are dates available for regular appointments, you just have to recheck what you filled out.

you can apply for two schools or just only one school to go for your student visa but you just have to know that, even if you apply for 10 schools you will only be able to use 1 school to go for your visa. the reason why some people apply for different schools is because they will be able to make their choices according to them if things do not work well, but if the visa officer ask you why did you choose this school, just be prepared to tell him/her why you chose the school.

there are so many people who are been accepted and issued the visa on their first attempt, if you follow the thread very well for those who went for spring , some if them did it for the first time and were given.

People are still going for spring, those very small in number and most likely with extension letter. A lady from this thread got her visa yesterday at 4th attempt at the U.S embassy, Abuja. There are is another guy from here planning for interview next week.
For fall 2021, I believe applicants can start going to the embassy from late April, that is in roughly 3 months from now.

For those who are going for interview for fall, please read thread 15, at least from October 2020. Learn from others experience so that you can avoid setbacks and unnecessary refusal.

When I have time, I will post a list of to-dos for fall 2021 prospects.
If you have questions, don't hold back; ask! There are always people on this thread that will answer.

I'm slightly confused here on this US journey.
I just gained admission into Western Illinois university but a SOA showing a balance of $22600 is needed or Sponsor account statement is needed for I-20 to be issued.

Never knew the cost would be that much from the research I made before applying to the school.

If I apply for any form if funding be it TA or Graduate Assistance job and favoured enough to be have a contract, how many percent discount is likely to be given?

More so, about the sponsor, if I get a sponsor SOA be it someone in Nigeria or US, must the payment be made before Visa application? If payment is not needed to be made and I'm fortunate enough to get a visa, can I travel and get a full funding there?

Right now, I can't even think of anyone that can sponsor me by paying such huge amount

what payment are you talking about? the money the school wants you to show is your cost of attendance before they can issue you an i-20 just to know if may you or your sponsors will be able to cover up the fees, they aren't telling you to pay before coming, unless if it is a school that requires you to make a tuition deposit before they send you your i-20 which I guess western Illinois university does not require that. if the graduate assistantship or funding is been given to you, it depends on what the school gave you that's the only way you can know the percentage from what your cost of attendance would be.

contact WES and tell them about it , I do not know which of their report package you signed in for if may be it is the one that can allow you send your result to other institutions. but contact WES they are going to explain the process to you.

you can as well search these things online I'm sure you will find a lot of things but it is really kind of hard to see schools that offer funding without GRE, they might waive GRE for their applications but to give you funding you will need to send your GRE scores. but never give up just search online, you might be able to find one.

you can still pursue a masters degree in the USA, all you just have to do is for you to look for a better university, then you prepare your documents, you can as well take some standardized test, like TOEFL, GRE. so that you can also apply for funding if your school will give you. but anyways you are good to go just only that you will have to tell the VO what you have been doing since when you completed your undergraduate studies. everything will go well but you just have to be prepared for that.

well it depends on your cost of attendance and if may be you have the money to sponsor yourself. if you have the money in your account you can use it but if you do not have it, may be either of your parents or family member could support you and you will need their financial statement of account during your interview. although not all the time the VOs ask you to proof your sponsors statement of account by showing it, some of them might not ask you. only God handles everything on that day.

I wouldn't advice you to change your mom's surname because you do not want the VO to know that two of your mom's sisters are citizens or permanent resident permit holders . even if they've filed for you and your family immigration visa before I don't think that is a problem, all lies in your application and the way you will convince the VO about your home ties and your plans on returning to Nigeria after your program. I think you should give it a try and you can use any of the family sponsors you feel might be best for you and secondly are your aunties in the same state with the university where you will be applying for your program? if it is not the same state, I am not seeing a problem there. when you go for your visa interview just make the VO know the purpose of you going to the US and the Lord will do the rest.

since you are already done with your undergraduate studies why not search for a better school and then pursue a master program in the field of studies where you obtained your bachelor's degree, to pursue another bachelor's degree in the US, you will not only defend what you have been doing since high school when you finished in 2013 but the main problem will lie upon your current age.

I was denied on the 31st of December at Lagos consulate office and my passport was handed to me but I'm still kind of surprise with what I do always see as if my passport is with them.

my visa was refused but this people still keeps sending me emails and messages related to passport pick up , they said isolo Lagos, Kaduna and Benin is temporary closing for US visa passport collections did anyone got the same information? the last time it showed that my passport is still with the US consulate in their portal for more than 10days.

it went like this, I was interviewed by the white old man.
school: Idaho state university, undergraduate
COA: $34,000

me: good morning and happy holiday
vo: good morning , please pass me your documents
me: I did as instructed
vo: how old are you?
me: I'm 22years old.
vo: at this age how were you able to work in a church missionary program?
me: yes after my school I went for a full-time missionary program which lasted for 2 years in Kenya, DR Congo and several other countries in africa have i travelled to.
vo: so I can see you have travelled before
me: yes I have.
vo: where you paid during this missionary service?
me: no I wasn't paid it is a voluntary missionary service, I devoted my time to the lord.
vo: I see you are going to Idaho state university for your undergraduate studies in biochemistry.
me: exactly you are correct.
vo: why this course
me: I am very passionate and interested on how our plants can become resistant to diseases, insects, droughts and other afflictions, so upon completion of this program I intent to become a biomedical scientist someday, so that I can carry out laboratory, biological and scientific test on tissue samples and fluids in order to help clinicians diagnose and treat diseases.
vo: that's fine so how did you heard about this school?
me: during my full time missionary service I had the privilege to meet with some of my colleagues that have attended this school, one of them completed his masters degree here and I saw the way this brother contributed greatly to the society because of the intelligence he had acquired from this school so that was how I learnt about the school.
vo: okay so who will be sponsoring you?
me: my dad
vo: what does he do?
me: he works in microfinance bank in my home city
vo: he works in what position?
me: I told him.
vo: did you dad gave you any of his financial documents?
me: yes.
vo: can I have them please.
me: I gave it to him.
vo: okay done checking it returned it back to me and he said is this the bank your dad works , this same bank that contains his statement of account.
me: no it is not the same bank.
vo: okay then he kept on typing for a very longtime before I handed the blue paper to me, sorry you are eligible for this visa at this time, do apply another time. thank you.

It seems you can do that. you'll fill a new ds-160, you can't update it. After you've done that you'll go to your visa appointment page and click on "UPDATE PROFILE" and then you input the new ds-160 confirmation code. Someone did something similar to this around 2018 here but can't remember the person.

I think I understand what you mean by that, that is going to be a better idea and I just hope it work out.

the problem now is that my school do not have summer semester only spring and fall semesters, so I was asking if may be I could use my second school that has given me admission for summer semester, so is it possible for me to change the school in the ds-160 application because I have already booked appointment already but I want to change my school. please anyone can help me with this.

I don't know if you can use a different school information but what I'm 100% of is that you can just defer this current admission to summer or fall semester. if it's summer, you don't need to reschedule the appointment by changing the dates but if your school offers only the fall semester. You can only go the the embassy 120days to your resumption date and most fall semester resumes around August.

What you can do is reschedule your appointment date to May so that is can be within 120days to your resumption date.

so does it mean that I can not use a different school that I just got admission into for summer semester because I have not yet paid my sevis fee for that school yet , so are there anyways I can update my ds-160 form and change the school?
