That is because they were rendering the actual Hebrew name Yeshua to English name of his "Jesus" and now you presented the views of some critics who didn't do proper job at their criticism as a truth. How could Josephus be writing of a Jesus with letter ''J'' before ''J'' became an alphabet?. Is that another miracle? Answer: Josephus never said so. The above text was added as history in the 4th century AD by the Roman catholic church as they were under pressure to prove there was a historical Jesus. But they failed!.
Secondly, Josephus was a sell-out. He sided with Rome to enslave his people and in the process was used to write history to please Rome. He was such a puppet that the Peso Flavian dynasty (the ruling family in Rome in Josephus time) had him adopt as his surname ''Flavius'' which is a Greco-Roman name.
I don't quite get why you said there is no letter J when he wrote about Jesus like as if Other Hebrews who lived before Jesus had no such rendering of their names with letter J. Please do a proper analytical research not based on what critics are saying. Note that Jesus is the English rendering of the Hebrew name Yeshua. So if Josephus has written the name in Hebrew as Yeshua and translators renders it into modern language as Jesus, how then is that an issue. Except of course you can provide the original manuscript where he wrote it as Jesus.

Would you say a drunkard who is asked to stop drinking alcohol because of his health is reasonable if he changes his pattern to transfusing such alcohol? The principle is clear. Concerning blood, If a doctor tells u to stop drinking alcohol for ur health, now would u transfuse it into ur body since u re addicted to it & has bin ordered not to drink it.
