PoliticsChristians And Muslims Clashes In Kwara Over Use Of Hijab In Schools by Emmadoc(op): 12:50pm On Mar 17, 2021
At least three people sustained varying degrees of injury during a clash between Muslims and Christians on Wednesday in Ilorin, Kwara state after the state government reopened 10 schools shut last month over the use of hijab by Muslim female students.

The government had in February ordered the temporary closure of the schools pending the resolution of the controversy in the schools. The schools are C&S College, ST. Anthony College, ECWA School, Surulere Baptist Secondary School, Bishop Smith Secondary School, CAC Secondary School, St. Barnabas Secondary School, St. John School, St. Williams Secondary School and St. James Secondary School.

Muslim leaders had insisted that students should be allowed to use hijab but their Christian counterparts said such negates the heritage of the missionaries, who built the schools. However, after several peace meetings, the state government approved the use of hijab in all public schools in the state.

But the decision did not go down well with the Christian leaders who kicked against it openly, insisting that they will not allow such in their mission schools. They also urged Christians “to occupy the schools” when they reopen today in protest of the government’s resolution.

The affected schools were established by Christian missionaries but now funded by the state government after a forceful takeover of all mission schools in the country in 1975 by the Nigerian government.

Christians and Muslims not pleased with the situation however went into a clash at one of the affected schools, Baptist Secondary School on Wednesday as they pelted themselves with stones and plastic chairs with security operatives struggling to control the situation.

We gathered that students and teachers who resumed in line with the government’s directive were denied access to the school premises. The school reopening was on Tuesday night announced by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Kemi Adeosun.

Adeosun had said, “The government is convinced that its policy to allow willing Muslim schoolgirls to wear their hijab (face covering) in public schools will lead to sustainable peace and communal harmony anchored on mutual respect and understanding.

“This path to mutual respect, understanding, and peace with regards to hijab had long been adopted in all of the northern Nigeria and many states in the Southwest such as Lagos, Osun, Ekiti, and Oyo states.

“As the students resume normal classes, the government took special notice of the plight of those of them preparing for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination and hereby directs affected schools to hold at least two-hour extra lesson for all the intending candidates after school hours daily.”

RomanceI Battled Infertility For 2 Years – Ooni Of Ife’s Wife, Queen Naomi Reveals by Emmadoc(op): 2:36pm On Mar 13, 2021
The Ooni of Ife’s wife, Queen Naomi has explained how she dealt with a lot of pressure from the public after she failed to conceive after 2 years of marriage.
She was engaged in an interview on TVC where she opened up about some challenges she faced before she had her first child.

She said: “It was like I was supposed to start popping babies almost immediately. The whole world was just looking at me…Thank God for a supportive husband, he would always tell me not to bother. think it was something I was challenged with from the first day I got married.

One thing that society does not yet know is that when a woman is under pressure, it becomes very difficult to conceive because it messes up with her brain and then it goes into her hormones and it becomes more difficult.

The more you abuse a woman about childbearing, the more it becomes difficult for her to conceive.”

“For me, it was really difficult but thank God for God, thank God for the Holy Spirit, and thank God for my husband. There was no pressure at all from my husband’s family, they were all very supportive,”

“I would say from the public, there was a little bit of pressure but because my husband didn’t actually care about what gender, it could be a girl, a boy, or even twins he didn’t care. My mind was not on whether it was a girl or a boy, there was no reason to go for a scan, and there was no reason to find out what I was having. Whatever it is, I knew he was going to celebrate me and celebrate the child.”

PoliticsBuratai: My Hands Are Clean, I Didn't Misuse Funds Meant For Arms by Emmadoc(op): 2:20pm On Mar 13, 2021
The former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has allegedly denied the allegations made on him about diverting resources meant for the procurement of arms and ammunition during his tenure as the chief of staff.

The National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, had revealed the newly appointed chief of staff did not meet the funds approved for the procurement arms upon their resumption of office.

Monguno, has however, wave off the statement, saying he was misquoted.

Chief Buratai said, those with doubts should channel their queries to the ministry of defense for accurate details on how the funds meant for arms were utilized.

Buratai made this known, in a report signed by his lawyer, Osuagwu Ugochukwu.

The report reads:

“My attention has been drawn to an interview granted on BBC by National Security Adviser (NSA), RTD Major General Babagana Monguno, wherein he was alleged to have accused former service chiefs of filtering ARMS Fund away.

“I can confirm that Lt. General Buratai and other ex-service chiefs were never mentioned in the interview and neither was any arms fund missing under the stewardship of Lt. Gen T.Y. Buratai.

“Interestingly, NSA Babagana Monguno has denied making such accusations. We, therefore, urge members of the public to discountenance any such misquoted narrative suggesting sleaze on the integrity of Rtd Lt Gen T.Y. Buratai.

“Anyone interested in knowing how arms were procured by the ex-service chiefs and particularly Lt Gen T.Y. Buratai should channel such request for information to the Ministry of Defence.”

PoliticsKanu Nwakwo Reveals What The Government Must Do, To Keep Nigeria Together by Emmadoc(op): 1:35am On Mar 11, 2021
Nigerian footballer has lamented over the ways of the Nigerian government and policies. He talked about what the government must do to keep the nation in one piece.

“I would not expect you to compare the government in Nigeria to other governments of the world. It is the duties of the government to look after the interest of its citizens”.

They should not desert its citizens, because Human Resources and manpower is the fertilizer to a country growth and development.

The government must to change its policy, they need to invest in human. Investment in Human Resources is the future and growth of a country.

Investing in the masses will help eradicate poverty, insecurities, rinse out our streets of nuisances and urchins, create more job opportunity, create innovative entrepreneurs.

It will also help in our capability to be self confidence in terms of technology innovations. I do not understand the Nigerian government policies or how they sees the future of this nation without investment in Human Resources, it is a priority not a choice, without human capital investment there’s no future for a nation and its people.

BusinessDolce And Gabbana Sue's Two Bloggers Over $600m For Defamation by Emmadoc(op): 4:50pm On Mar 09, 2021
MILAN (AP) — The Milan fashion house Dolce&Gabbana has filed a defamation suit in an Italian court seeking over $600 million in damages from two U.S. fashion bloggers who reposted anti-Asian comments attributed to one of the designers that led to a boycott by Asian consumers.

The suit was filed in Milan civil court in 2019 but only became public this week when the bloggers posted about it on their Instagram account, Diet Prada. Their feed is widely followed in the fashion world for its cutting commentary on unoriginality in designs and on social issues.

“This whole case is a way of trying to silence Diet Prada, and to silence Tony (Liu) and Lindsay (Schuyler) personally,” said Susan Scafidi, director of the Fashion Law Institute at Fordham Law School, which is coordinating the bloggers’ defense.

Lawyers for Dolce&Gabbana reached by the AP declined to comment on the case.

The case dates back to November 2018,when Dolce&Gabbana faced a boycott in Asia after outrage over what were seen as culturally insensitive videos promoting a major runway show in Shanghai and subsequent posts of insulting comments in a private Instagram chat.

The show was canceled in the backlash, which included retailers pulling Dolce&Gabbana merchandise and Asian VIPs disavowing the brand.

Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana initially said that Gabbana’s account had been hacked. The two later appeared in a video apologizing to the Chinese people.

“A public apology and a quiet lawsuit really cancel each other out in my mind,” Scafidi told The Associated Press on Saturday.

Italian defense attorneys filed a brief this week in Milan civil court, arguing that Italy is not the correct venue for the case, given that the blog is produced in the United States and the alleged damages occurred in Asia.

The fashion house is seeking damages totaling more than half a billion euros, Scafidi said.

She said the fashion house is seeking 450 million euros spent to restore brand image since 2018 and damages of 3 million euros for the company and 1 million for Gabbana, to whom the remarks were attributed. The suit also seeks more than 8.6 million euros for the cancellation of the Shanghai show, another 8.6 million euros for staff expenditures and 89.6 million euros for lost Asian sales from November 2018-March 2019.

Since going public, Diet Prada, which has over 2.5 million Instagram followers, has raised more than $38,000 for its defense.

In a statement, Liu and Schuyler both said they would not allow their platform, which has also been vocal about the #MeToo movement, Black Lives Matter and recent attacks on Asians in the United States, to be silenced by lawsuits.

“Diet Prada will continue to be a platform to elevate these crucial issues,” Liu said.

Schuyler called on “public figures and brands to respond to public opinion and media critiques with progressive action, not lawsuits.

It is very crazy and pathetic
EducationWe Will Not Accept Hijabs In Our Christian Schools~ Kwara Ministry Of Edu. by Emmadoc(op): 12:57am On Mar 09, 2021
The kwara state ministry of education has refused to reopen schools over the ongoing hijab controvery, no fewer than 10 were shut down during the dispute after being ordered by the government to reopen the schools.

According to the Ministry’s permanent secretary, Kemi Adeosun, the schools which were earlier told to reopen on Monday, will continue to remain shut.

She said the decision was taken for safety reasons. “The government has however directed pupils and teachers in the affected schools to remain at home until the final decision is made and announced.

“The government through their spoke person said, they will remains committed to fairness, pluralism, and respect for the law and rights of every citizen at all times,” the statement read.

Recall: The kwara state government, in February , ordered the temporary closure of 10 grant-aided secondary schools in Ilorin, the state capital, pending the resolution of the hijab controversy in the Christian schools.

The affected schools are;

C&S College,
ST. Anthony College,
ECWA School,
Surulere Baptist Secondary School,
Bishop Smith Secondary School,
CAC Secondary School,
St. Barnabas Secondary School,
St. John School,
St. Williams Secondary School and,
St. James Secondary School.

Muslim leaders in the state, insisted that muslim students should be allowed to use the head covering in accordance with the Constitution but their Christian counterparts said such negates the heritage of the missionarries, who built the schools.

However, after several peace meetings, the government approved the use of hijab in all public schools in the state and ordered the reopening of the affected schools schools on March 8.

However this decision does not sit well with the Christians in the state as they remain adamant, stating such a decision will negate the missions of their founding fathers.

Due to the decisions, there had been rumors spreading like a wild fire. That there is ongoing agenda to totally Islamize the state. Could this be true?
