Badeh visits EFCC

Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh, who was Chief of Defence Staff during Goodluck Jonathan, tenure, has on February 3, Wednesday, visited the office of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).



Badeh was summoned for questioning in $2.1bn arms purchase scam currently investigated by the agency.

Daily Post sources at the EFCC said that the interactions with the former CDS was adjourned till February 8, Monday by the panel of investigators to give the commission time to meet up some logistic obligations.

Badeh was at the headquarters of the anti-graft agency earlier on Tuesday, where he had gone to make explanations on supposed improper purchases made under his watch as Chief of Defence Staff, but was asked to come back on Monday.

The former CDS was said to have been in a company of two of his allies and some assistants at exactly 10:00 a.m, as requested by the EFCC.

He was invited into the waiting room, where Badeh interacted shortly with officers before the postponement.

President Muhammadu Buhari recently ordered the agency to carry out extensive probe on Badeh and former Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Adesola Amosu among others serving and retired army officials.

The probe was result of the recommendation of the committee established to audit the procurement of arms and equipment in the Armed Forces and Defence sector from 2007 to 2015 which indicted the officers in shady deals that involved billions of naira and United States dollars.
