TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Emmaokudu: 2:24pm On Apr 03, 2019
Good day,
please I have two questions:
When you were feeling your online forms, do you type in your name in the cell meant for your signature or did you feel the just date part and upload the document?
also, in the family information form, did you feel in N/A for things you didn't have to feel or did you just leave it blank?
DMerciful:
Nope... just scans of the original documents
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Emmaokudu: 2:15pm On Mar 29, 2019
ok, thanks.

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Emmaokudu: 2:10pm On Mar 29, 2019
Good day,

Please did you notarise the document you uploaded when you were applying via the online route?
DMerciful:
Congratulations on your admission. It's possible to get your visa before the said date(mine was 6weeks 4days and someone was about a month here recently) just ensure you documents are clear and unambiguous. Are you sponsoring yourself? Either case ensure the bulk of the funds is in your account.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Emmaokudu: 12:32pm On Mar 24, 2019
Congratulations,
Did you upload birth certificate or international passport data page of every member of your family during your application?
DMerciful:
May
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Emmaokudu: 12:24pm On Mar 24, 2019
Good day Frank,

I am applying via the online route, do I still need to upload birth certificate of my family members, if yes but it's not available, what should I upload in its place, international passport data page or age declaration .
Emmaokudu:
Ok, Thank you.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Emmaokudu: 2:49pm On Mar 23, 2019
Ok, Thank you.

Frankrobbn1:
This is a parental sponsorship. As a consequence, your father don't have to transfer the required funds for your studies into your account.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Emmaokudu: 1:35pm On Mar 23, 2019
Ok, thank you, also, my Father is my sponsor, does he need to transfer this money to my account or should I leave it in his account ? considering his statement of account would be submitted and his sponsorship letter clearly says what the money in the account is for.
Frankrobbn1:
The total sum of your first year Tuition + Room and Board + Others with a margin difference of 2KCAD-3KCAD = Funds available for my stay.

Thus, it should be filled out this way;

TUITION = $18,000
ROOM & BOARD = $10,000
OTHERS = $2,000
FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR MY STAY = $32,000
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Emmaokudu: 6:03am On Mar 23, 2019
Good day Frank, please I am a little confused in this section,
Should the sum of the breakdown of cost of my studies be equivalent to funds available for my stay or is funds available for my stay
supposed to be living expense,

The way i have it filled out, is it ok?

Thanks.

Frankrobbn1:
If that be the case, I'll try see if I can message her on your behalf. Hope that would be fine by you?

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Emmaokudu: 9:59am On Feb 21, 2019
Good morning Mr. Frank, similar situation here, dad plans to sponsor ,last child and presently his only beneficiary, and we intend to use his business account were is he's the sole signatory to the account, trying to raise funds to be in the range of 12 to 15m between now and May when I would apply, in your opinion, would this suffice as proof of funds?

Frankrobbn1:
That's the more reason your sponsor (mom) must provide sufficient proof of support. A bank of statement of 8.5M - 10M will do.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Emmaokudu: 8:54am On Jun 29, 2018
Ok, thank you, my previous job experiences have all been engineering related (3 years plus), oil prices crashed and jobs became scarce, I've worked here as a procurement officer for only about a year now, couldn't be doing nothing while looking for another Engineering job,can I send you my SOP so you'd have a look?
Frankrobbn1:
Emmaokudu,

Being among the board of directors in a company is a good tie to your home country. In as much as the visa officers are not custodians of knowledge, you will have to present documents to further buttress your claims to be true and a little explanations on your SOP should suffice to address this. Don't only rely on this company as means of showing ties to your home country, add landed properties documents, buildings, investments etc..

Again, to your course consistency, It's a red flag only if you can't present a rational explanation to why you left your discipline (Engineering) for so long and have been working in a non-related field and now decide to further for higher studies in (Engineering). However, the word progression can be seen by the visa officer from your previous studies, current employment and intended program... If your intended program in Canada is directly related to your previous studies(Bsc) it's also a progression. As stated earlier, you will still have to explain why you've not been following a career path since you left university.

All the best!

Good Morning Mr Frank,

My brother runs a company I work for as the procurement officer, I plan on pursing an Engineering degree in canada, He put my name as one of the directors when he was registering the company so I want to use the company as my ties back home, although its company that does engineering jobs from time to time but hardly ever so I'm not in that department

would this reason for my ties back home suffice? also, would it be a red flag that I'm currently not working as an engineer even though i have a first degree in engineering?

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Emmaokudu: 8:39am On May 15, 2018
hello ,during your visa application process, did you pay your fees before you applied or you just showed a solid proof of funds?, the school I applied to doesn't give a full refund if your visa request is denied, it's a bit of gamble for me, confused on what to do.
Mickychen:
Yeah, I'm planning to leave Nigeria August 11. Will there be an exam after the 2 weeks maths class? Are you there already?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Emmaokudu: 11:11am On May 14, 2018
Good day, quick question, during the application process, the documents you submitted were all photocopies right?, did you have to take it to a legal practitioner to get certified true copies? or can i just submit it like that?, thanks.
mcobex:
No effect, the principal applicant can apply for child and even spouse and it will scale through. The applicant can decide to travel to Canada first before starting the process or do it while still here..... The most important thing is trv has been secured.
When is the principal applicant resuming school?

Hello house, Please I have a few questions concerning the IMM5832E.

1. could anyone feel the form with a computer or did you have to print it out first and then feel it by hand?

2. An instruction on this form says "All documents submitted in support of your application should be original." can a certified true copy suffice?, if yes, does that mean I have to certify every document i submit like, Waec, Transcript,Birth certificate, etc.

3. The spaces that do not concern me like Spouse for instance, should i leave it blank or should I feel it "N/A"?

Thanks.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Emmaokudu: 9:04am On Mar 06, 2018
ok, thanks
mcobex:
The immigration officer might ask you for it but not compulsory. Some people are lucky to the extent they are just asked "Why are you in Canada"? and after saying "for studies" they get stamped in. So to be on a safer side go along with your proof of funds (maybe bank statement)
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Emmaokudu: 2:39pm On Mar 05, 2018
how many days after you submit your application would you be asked to come and do your biometrics?, or is it possible to do it the same day?
WEIRDPC:
Yes, the 57k covers biometrics.

Take two passport photographs along.

You will be needing it. Just in case you bring the wrong size of passport photographs, you might need to snap another. There is a place you can do that there.

In summary, Take more than 57k along, just in case, and try to get the right passport photographs
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Emmaokudu: 2:35pm On Mar 05, 2018
would they request to see proof of funds on entry?
mcobex:
Your passport, offer letter and a letter that will be given to you by cic once your trv is arroved
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Emmaokudu: 8:32am On Mar 02, 2018
So it's not a prerequisite for study visa?
mcobex:
Since your school is not asking for it, don't waste money doing it

Also I’ve noticed that nobody seems to be talking about the IELTS as a requirement, my school doesn’t request for it, should I still take the test cause of the Canadian embassy guys?

I would have to write a very convincing SOP, already working on it. Thanks
jnyuwa02:
Yes obstacles. Why a diploma and not the natural progression to a masters VOs would like you to not only convince them, but compel them. If you are going for a masters, you need to convince them that you would be a genuine student. If you are going for a PGD, you have to compel them. That is a threshold of over fifty percent proof to compel them. As opposed to convincing them which is a threshold of over ten percent proof. That is my theory.

Any ideas if there are obstacles with doing diplomas after a B.Eng in Nigeria , Engineering ones. .
jnyuwa02:
Yes ooh, I have been here 10 months now or so and met many people from here and have been privy to their cases. It's been a learning experience. And the testimonies left here too by people I don't know, always sticks to my head and I can always cite a particular case fitting a particular situation.

Hello everyone,
please what are the chances of getting a Canadian student visa to Study Instrumentation Engineering Technology at NAIT (DIPLOMA).
My first degree was Elect/Elect , but I'd rather do a diploma in the aforementioned field as against a Masters in the uk because it'll be more hands on and I'd gain some first hand experience after schooling in the process.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Emmaokudu: 12:02pm On Feb 15, 2018
Thank You.
Frankrobbn1:
Emmaokudu,

Good to hear from you again.

Your dad sponsoring you it's the best here, because visa officers regard Family sponsorship when compared to third party sponsor. So it's good you're using your dad.

It's not a prerequisite okay, it's a way of showing commitment towards sponsoring your education, and it plays a vital role on your application. So, Once the transfer is carried out between your father's account and yours, you need to submit both accounts statements while applying for your visa. You should indicate this in the portion where you talked about finances on your SOP, explain to the visa officer that as a matter of fact, that your father(sponspor) have shown commitment in financing your studies by transferring both your tuition and living expenses into your account, so the same too with your father, it should also appear on his letter of support/sponsporship. Remember to quote the date and attach receipts for the transcation.

The main important thing here is before your application, and yes you can take it out or give it back to your sponsor as embassies don't have the right to request for your account balance from applicant respective banks. Most often, they request for bank statements again only if they are unsure of the transaction(I don't think they do this again). But it's better you wait for like a month after submission before giving it back to your father.

It not a must that it will be a domicilary account. The role that a dorm account plays is that it let's the visa officer know that funds are already in convertible currency and are readily available, accessible and exportable by applicant to Canada. But I prefer this than normal naira bank account. Anyone is good okay. As I said earlier if you're using your naira account, make sure you include your dad bank statements and yours to show proof of transcations b/w both accounts.

Yes submit your sponsor Bank statement to support your application, then they will be looking out whether such transfer/transcations was carried in your sponsor account or you just intentionally borrowed the money somewhere(Lump sum deposit into account from unknown source) So, include your sponsor account.

Sure! You can have more than one sponspor when applying for your visa, just make sure that both sponspors show commitment (as stated earlier) towards financing your studies in Canada and you will be fine.

I hope this answers your questions.
Feel free to ask questions anytime.

All the best!
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Emmaokudu:
Good Morning Mr. Frank,
Thank you for you quick and concise responses so far, I really do appreciate it.

I’m not self sponsored actually, my dad is paying but I want to gather as much information as possible so I don’t make any avoidable mistakes,

Ok , so before I apply for the visa , the money should be in my personal account as it is a prerequisite that I submit a healthy statement of account during the visa application process right?,

what happens if I take it out after I send the application, would that affect me ?,

does the account have to be a domicilary account?

Do I also need to submit the statement of account of my sponsor during this process?, if yes, what would they be looking out for , account balance or clash inflow?

can I have more than one sponsor ? (both would be from my immediate family; dad and sister)

Frankrobbn1:
Emmaokudu,

If you don't plan to pay tuition, make sure you have your tuition and living expenses in your possession(Account) prior your application submission.

Paying upfront tuition fees is not a prerequisite for visa approval. I'll advise that if you have the money, just pay for your full tuition and have your living expenses in your personal account before submitting your app. Don't be scared okay, your money is safe with the Canadian Institution and will be refunded, if eventually your application got refused.
Yes paying upfront tuition is good as it let's the visa officer know that your primary intent is to study.

Lastly, Are you self sponsored?( You speak like one).
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Emmaokudu: 8:55pm On Feb 14, 2018
I have not yet paid my tuition fees, is there a stipulated amount of time that the money should be in my account or can I just transfer to my account if they ask for proof of funds.

Also , the school offers a refund if you’re denied visa , not 100% though, would it be advised to pay for one academic year in a bid to let the visa office know you’re serious? And then keep the rest of the upkeep money in your account, so that as you said early, you can now present both when they ask for proof of funds.

Frankrobbn1:
If you have paid your tuition fees add it up as proof of funds that you have completed payment, but if you have not paid for your tuition and it is readily available in your account add it as proof of funds for a year.
I advise the funds should be in your account not sponspor.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Emmaokudu:
Good day,
Since it was a Diploma and not a Masters or PGD, I thought they weren't going to need my university transcript, but no problem.
These documents do they have to be Notarized photocopy's, Originals or regular photocopies, because right now i only have a scanned copy of my Uni transcript, Already sent the original copy to the school.
Frankrobbn1:
Emmaokudu,
I'm not heading to NAIT.
During your visa application you need to submit your university transcripts, degree certificates and a copy of your waec certificate. You do not need a secondary school transcripts.
