Let's take a look at Sheikhul Islam Ibn Tayimmiya's recommended du'a at dawn (sunnah fajr) before fard fajr. His student Muhammad b. al-Qayyim (Allah have mercy on both of them) relates in two of his books: Madarij al-Salikin and Tariq al-Hijratayn, in which he says that reciting “Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum, la ilaha illa ant” every day 40 times after praying the Sunnah of Fajr and before the Fard “revives the heart” and “has an astonishing effect” respectively. I have been doing this du'a for over a year now since i heard of it. So i recite “Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum, la ilaha illa anta” 40 times everyday between two rakat sunnah and 2 rakat fard (fajr). This is in addition to what i already tasked myself. Concern here is, there is no hadith which relates this du'a at this particular time and this particular count. So this du'a and solati fatih are in the same category. The same condition etc. Questions are: Where did Ibn Taymiyya got this recommendation from?. Obviously it is not hadith Where did he get the count from? And he mentioned reward attributed to it which is it "revives the heart” This nakali i have been doing for over a yr. Now is this bid'ah?. To me it is no. To you it is yes. It is no to me bcus it is perfectly in harmony with shari'a. To you it is innovation because nabi didnt recommend it. Sahaba didnt do it. Tabi'in didnt do it. Tabi'in tabi'in didn't do it. Therefore it is bid'ah. Matn of this du'a is sahih because it has isnad in the kitab and sunnah. Your problem is the reward and how Ibn Taymiyyah got it. So my question is, is Ibn Taymiyyah ahlul bid'ah for recommending this du'a at dawn btw fajr sunnah and fard?. So now you have not only Sheikh Inyas to worry about but your revered sheikh Ibn Taymiyyah as well. I got more for you in case you wanna dodge this. Now this du'a, “Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum, la ilaha illa anta” which revives the heart, is one of the greatest "Isme- Azam" Allah's Greatest Name being recited was also recounted by Imam khatani(ra) who said he had a dream and saw the prophet(saw) who gave him this “Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum, la ilaha illa anta” to be recited 40 times. AlBaqir:we used to talk about getting rid of these baba since i was in JS2 when youths used to have some sense. My friend would say a giant hole should be dug and bury all old politicians in there alive. This was during IBB regime. That's how angry we were back then. One would have thought Nigeria would be better. The only improvement compared to then was the use of mobile phones. That's, partial technological improvement. They violated sunnah (path) of Allah clearly stated in the Qur'an in Sura Imran verse 103 And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided. Imagine excuses they gave, that Muslims don't protest or there is no protest in Islam is their excuse for not reaching out to their brothers. See how pathetic they sound?. Is this a defense technic. Even if they are kufar and are being maltreated by the authority, it is the responsibility of Muslim neighbors to rise and come to their aid. This is what Islam teaches. But today, they disregard order of Qur'an base on sectarian differences taught by their scholars. The Glorious Qur’an further says: “As for those who divide Their religion and break up into sects, thou hast no part in them in the least: Their affair is with Allah: He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did.” [Al-Qur’an 6:159] As you can see there hatred for that Shia sect solely based on the fact that they are different sect. Again, they violated order of Qur'an. God knows there will always be differences amongst humans so he wants us to put aside our differences especially in time like this. Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’aala) also states; إِنَّ هَذِهِ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَأَنَا رَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُونِ “Verily, this brotherhood of yours is a single brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore serve Me (and no other)” [Al-Anbiyah: 92] It is not their fault really. It is their scholars, especially one of them who was asked by his student if it is enough to call oneself a Muslim in this day and age?. The scholar replied, "no, it is not enough to just call yourself a muslim. You must say: 'i am a Muslim upon Quran and sunnah base on the understanding of pious predecessors". Any muslim who utters this incantation is considered a true Muslim and he's one of 'them'. They see other Muslims to be innovators if you are not on their methodology. So you can see clearly it was their scholar who died in the 90s and left this terrible mark of innovation on earth that caused problems modern youths face today. And that's what you are seeing here. Yet the same people claimed to follow QUR'AN and sunnah and the understanding of earliest MUSLIMS while they disregard these clear cut verses of Glorious QUR'AN. So excuses they give here is null and void bcuz if they can't aid their fellow muslims being prosecuted, at least they should be able to aid them on the ground of humanity. Now, If by your definition of bidah, salawat like tunjina, fatih etc are additions or new things, then, figh that was institutionalized by Aimmah is innovation by extension of bidah because there was no such thing when nabi(saw) was alive. And there was nothing like sahih Hadith either in his life time. You can not condemn bidah where you feel uncomfortable while you condone it where it suits you.
