I remember how girls mocked guys whose belt and shoe colors don't match, Yet the slay Queens own face and neck don’t even match. Some of them will say they don't like it when men put on stripe shirts and tie, I wonder what they have to say about their own "Joseph coat" facial makeup of many colors. Before you build the foundation of marriage on a slay Queen, you better find out what is under the foundation of their skins. I met a certain lady that completely hid her Ogbomosho tribal marks under the foundation of Marykay (apologies Ogbomosho people), only to be exposed at night when the party was all over and the "masquerade became human" with skin deep marks. I heard some of them even sleep with makeups still on so as to never be caught 'unfresh'... Skin deep tribal marks are even... https://www.objectivegist.com.ng/2020/02/the-slay-queen-makeup-scam.html |

I witnessed a wedding party that had a budget of 1.8 million Naira, but the groom was practically underemployed or literally unemployed. Quick analysis, the groom needed help with job before the wedding and approached several people for help but only got sympathy and promissory gestures. When he went round with the wedding IV, they promised to handle the financial and logistics responsibilities. At the end of the event, assessment estimate showed that a total of 1.8 million Naira had been spent by family and friends to ensure the jobless couples wedding was a success. If only the groom had the 1.8 million Naira in support towards his ideas. He had nursed starting a networking and technical lab for years but couldn't raise the capital. "People are wicked", he concluded after the assessment. Yes, he saw it as wickedness for people to spend so much at his event when he needed help to make ends meet with a source of livelihood. Is it really not wickedness when people have the capacity to help but choose to lavish it on frivolities. Is it not wickedness when people could help immediately but withold it till later dates when things have deteriorated further. Is it not wickedness when people hold on to your entitlement, at the expense of your well-being, for their selfish gains. Is it not wickedness to spend millions on wedding events of jobless couples? No wonder they sing "dance away your sorrows" in most weddings. More...https://www.objectivegist.com.ng/2020/02/the-jobless-groom-expensive-wedding.html |
Can we not hide behind a transparent curtain and come out to the truth? The Park Management System was an Auxiliary agenda, instead of a digital agenda. Just when I thought we were going digital with Motor Park Management. When the ban was placed, I felt it was really about the safety of lives and properties. But when Auxiliary was appointed as chair of the PMS, I cannot but ask, is this what this has been all about? If Auxiliary can not have it, then no one else could. Is the PMS a clever innovation to install Auxiliary? Just when I thought we were going digital with Motor Park Management, Auxiliary is all that is the focal point. As much as I would like to stand behind my Governor to justify every of his actions, truth must be told and integrity of personality must be sustained. The governor had installed men and women of academic, administrative and political excellence into his government. But Auxiliary's portfolio is a bit of taint to this record. Auxiliary's shrewd ways of doing things cannot be easily forgotten in Oyo state and part of which is his criminal conviction. Truly, great innovations can be birthed from hideous motives, such as the PMS, but a lot doesn't add up with the motifs put forward. If truly IGR is what we want to generate from PMS, Auxiliary has no... https://www.objectivegist.com.ng/2020/02/the-auxiliary-agenda-in-oyo-state.html |
To the woman the world is waiting to know. As the days go by, I sit by the Riverside waiting for your love to flow by. Where else can home be on earth if not inside your heart. The world says all that glitters is not gold, but the one thing that glitters in my eyes is the golden you. I've had enough to dream of a future with you so much my hopes are full to the brim. My queen, though the world may not have met you yet, and the time may yet not be ripe for the fanfare, but at least some romantic letters we can exchange. I hope you get to read this letter before our meeting so our discussion can be romantically straight to the point. Even in your absence, I feel the aura of your presence so strongly with a deep feeling of the kind of couple we'll be. You can't imagine that most times I giggle in silence as I play your personality in my head and preempt your response and reactions to situations... oh what a ... https://www.objectivegist.com.ng/2020/02/to-unknown-woman.html

I once saw a bum padded jeans that looked like an astronaut suit on sale and I pondered who will go through the inconvenience to have this on! I learned there are pads for the boobs as well. But Why all these "padded" stress nah? Stress? How dare me, belittling these great assets that have now become very important "wares" in the gallery of slay Queens. So padding them is not considered a stress. They will do all it takes to ensure the "ass" is set for its seductive duty. Thereafter, every tinted car windows will become a mirror to check and recheck the ass-set on the go.. oh my! Yeah I understand, to some it's a "follow come" natural endowment while some others have to pad it. Natural or padded, they all play the same role to the carrier and the viewers' which is, the loosing of minds. I once knew a lady who goes berserk over lovely comments about her bum. An open letter to an old lover! We have seen scams in this world but non like the emotional scam. I can't imagine I blamed myself so hard for what transpired between us back then. Ashey all na scam. My encounter with Madam SU, who was so spiritually strict, that "naughty" was a worldly word not in her saintly dictionary and must never be used even to flirt with her. I don't know if there can be a course for holy or saintly flirting and I will be the first student to enroll. She was a Saint and in my mind, I am the one to step up to her level, even when fate had other plans for my "unsaintly" status then. She was so spiritually strict that men steered clear. Don't call her by her full name and see her wrath. Hmmm, it was that strict... Truly I may have fumbled too. I admit I was... https://www.objectivegist.com.ng/2020/02/an-open-letter-to-old-lover.html

Honestly we've been scammed. Seriously o! I'm not joking. I can't believe this was the usher that barred a lady from entering the fellowship auditorium back then because she had a jean trouser on. Now see her in tight fitted jeans. I remember how they stopped many at the door for not having headscarves on, now see them in long loose braids. It was the brothers own that was more scamful (permit me to use that word). You will know them back then by their parachute dresses that they will never slim fit, but now see them o! The way they tag you a bad boy for very flimsy things ehn, thank God they are not God. If you dare side hug a lady back then, you were heading to hell in their kinda judgement. I remember someone once told me I needed sanctification over the diction of a romantic poem I once wrote. They say resumption is by 8am and closing by 5pm. Huge scam!!! When actually the time starts to count the very moment you wake up to prepare for work, be it 4am (or 3am for some Lagosians). The management care less whether you sleep on the roadside in a gridlock after you clock out of work, you must by 8am the next morning report for duty. December 2018, I witnessed fully what Lagos workers call life. I arrived Lagos by 7pm and headed for my accommodation at ibeju...to cut the looong story short, Lagos traffic ensured I got to ibeju 12mins past 1am midnight. Yes you read that right 1:12am! That is not even the essence for the story. In the causeless gridlock that caused the delay, there was a staff bus of accelerate TV beside us. I saw the staffs already asleep in the bus. The lady closest to the window where I was seating, had her head against the window in high discomfort trying to catch some sleep, but she didn't have the space like the man beside her who was already in Dreamland. She just kept writhing in discomfort in her suit dress. Guess what! By 5am, I was... https://www.objectivegist.com.ng/2020/01/the-scam-of-8am-5pm-lagos-life.html

Education has become the key to a keyless door in Nigeria. The door evolved but the key did not... People now call education and it's certifications a scam because it opens no doors or only ancient of doors and not the modern evolved doors to good living. Knock and it shall be opened is the only spiritual solace for the common masses who have this obsoleted key useful only for the wall of fame display and useless to open the doors to good living. One motivational speaker once made a grave statement that "if money is what is delaying your business, then you're are not ready". I was very surprised, because it came from someone who's business started with and was a beneficiary of several seed fundings. Could he have forgotten? One problem I have with most motivational speakers is that some of them are not real and down to earth with the truth. Instead of greasing the platform, they raise the platform for others coming. I wonder if it's a deliberate attempt to stop others from reaching and beating them. Truth be told, money is in the wrong hands. Those with the ideas lack the capital resources and those with the capital resources lack ideas. When resource meets idea, then a business is birthed. This a vital truth for every entrepreneur. I agree money may not be everything to a business, but... https://www.objectivegist.com.ng/2020/01/the-business-of-money.html |

“This is how they cheat slim people like me inside Micra taxi’s but this time I no go gree”, I said to myself. "Shift"! The stern voice repeated. To where? I no dey move an inch, and before I could even finish the line of thought in my mind, I was already pinned to the door. All she needed to do was push me with her massive 120 kg buttocks and I was no match for the weighty push. Ehn ehn! So it has come to the use of bottom power? Issokay. I was so pinned to the door that I could barely move my hands talk less of legs. Worst still, the heavyweight lady noticed my condition and seemed pleased with it as she had a grin on her face. She even leaned more to my side as if playing romance but it was a "romantic" crushing and not the kind I needed at the time. I caught her eyes spying on my face. Oh, what could she possibly be looking for in the face of someone she is oppressing, I asked myself. She had a funny grin on her face while mine had a frown. ‘She must be happy with herself for claiming so much seat space to herself’. But why are people like this? Inconveniencing others and intruding on other peoples’ space because you have the (bottom) power to do so? But the battle has just begun between slim people and fat people inside Micra taxis. “But I regret to inform you”… Many entrepreneurs who have at one time or the other submitted sponsorship proposals to companies will be familiar with the sentence used for this article’s topic. The phrase is usually preceded by a long interesting story of how wonderful the idea in your proposal is and how viable the idea is to become something great. The reader/entrepreneur will be elated by the appetite wetting complementary write-up and in full expectation of a life-changing deal at the end, only to be stunned with the phrase “but we regret to inform you”…. Honestly, at this point, I care less what reasons are given for the rejection. Many wonderful business ideas and creative contents are still lying on the desk of many entrepreneurs for lack of adequate funds, resources or partnership to pursue the business. We don't have to blame the big companies that reject our proposals to spend on frivolous events. If only the state government can recognise the importance, richness, opportunities and economic advantages of startups. There is a rapid growth stage in the ongoing evolution of startups in Nigeria. Evidences abound about the fast rising e-commerce space, Lagos’s billion dollar tech ecosystem, and the impressive performance of fintech startups in the country, but it is quite saddening that Oyo state, is not taking the pace in this space. When I heard about GSM's attempt to woo foreign investors into the state with series of meetings, I wondered if the past governments did not also engage the same tactics and failed at it. Just In the Q1 of 2018, a total of $9,241,196 was raised by startups in one stage of funding or the other. The report further reveals that a higher percentage of that figure is from foreign investors, while grants make up almost 64% of the total number of deals (stats from Techpoint Africa). In the first half of 2018, startups have managed to attract over $82 million in grants and investments from within and beyond the country. So GSM, startups can attract foreign investors to the state if given due attention. Thousands of jobs have been created with the spread of startups across the country, as each startup employing between five and 10 workers engaged in various aspects of works and training. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Oyo state has a record of Micro-enterprises of about 1,864,954 with employees of about 3,502,542. This shows the role startups can play with ending unemployment in the state if given the adequate attention. Way forward: Oyo state government needs to set up state runned Tech and Social start-up hubs that will be saddled with the responsibility of incubation, business modelling, funding and partnership, co-working space, training, networking etc. We need our own likes of "seedstars" and co-creation Oyohub in state. It's time for the birth of pacesetting startup ideas that will affect lives positively, actively engage youths, solve social problems, open doors of employment and attract investors to Oyo state. I rest my pen. I'll keep in touch. Tayo Okanlawon. https://www.objectivegist.com.ng/2020/01/but-i-regret-to-inform-you-open-letter.html

First and foremost, why in heavens name would you want to sack your CEO? But on another thought, it may at some point, become necessary to do so! What do I mean? I was at a time researching into the strategies of a big gaming brand in Nigeria and upon surfing their website for info, I came across a grave error. The web developer wrote Chief Execution Officer instead of Chief Executive Officer. You say it's typo error right? Well, maybe yes or maybe not. Out of the abundance of the mind, the hand may have written! There may have been a CEO (Chief Execution Officer) troubling workers in the office. In some workplaces, the working environment may be so toxic that it is difficult to pursue personal ambitions or dreams. The work culture may be killing (executing) the personal dreams or side businesses of the workers. Most workers have dreams of what they intend to achieve on the job or in a side business while they work. However, many companies see this personal ambition of their workers as a conflict of interest. Even though some workplace put it in their mission statement that the working culture in the company is one that allows employees to grow their personal ambitions, dreams and business, this however is not the reality of things in practice. But why would a company see it's employees side hussle as conflicting to its own interest? Some have candid and genuine reasons to do so, especially if the side hussle of the staff is in competition with the company's services or you're using company resources for personal use. It is very WRONG for you to do that. However, some other companies are just doing so out of selfishness even when there is no conflict. There is this mentality of "I'm paying him/her...". The funny thing is, when the need arise for the company to engage the service of your side capabilities or services (which are not in your employment portfolio), they will not view it as conflicting, and expect you to do it free. But the moment you begin to trade with it on the side to make yourself some money, it becomes a conflict of interest. This is an attempt to kill that special capability or business of yours and whoever is in the front of doing this is the Chief Execution Officer. How do you then get rid of such CEO's: https://www.objectivegist.com.ng/2020/01/how-to-sack-your-ceo.html |
Many worry a lot about starting a business of their own. They worry about how to go about it and whether it will be a success. Let me share some tips with you on how to start. Start with a dream! Dream about what you intend to make out of business life. Fantasize about how your business will make you millions and how you will spend the millions. Dream about seeing yourself driving in posh cars, receiving accolades and awards. Daydream about going on expensive vacations with your family with your business profit. Make sure you dream big, and I mean really big. In my own dream, I see myself buying over Aliko Dangote. #funny Step two: Write down your dream. When you are satisfied with the mightiness of your dream, begin to write it down. Start with developing your dream into a business plan, that will detail your business services, target market and marketing strategies. Do your research and consult experienced people in the industry of your business if need be. Step three: Wake up from dreaming. The last step is to wake up from dreamland to pursue the actualization of your business in reality. Follow the written business plan and stick to it. Believe me when I say it will it will initially be rough at the beginning, and it will even seem Unachievable, but stay true to your dream and fight through with passion. Never give up on your dream no matter what! Read the history of companies like Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, Amazon and you will be encouraged. https://www.objectivegist.com.ng/2020/01/how-to-start-your-own-business.html Visit: https://www.objectivegist.com.ng/?m=1 for more articles and subscribe to the website to get notified of new articles. |

It is as easy as just taking a stroll to your HR with your resignation letter and drop it on his or her table. Yes you read that right! However, before you take that giant stride to drop the letter, kindly and carefully read the story below. In 2016, I got a sales executive job at a Fintech company. It was a tough job to meet the sales target and the sales department leadership was headed by tough bosses who gave room for no excuses. After months of tireless work under stringent working conditions, the management took a grave decision with some a wrong demeanor that led to the resignation of all sales executive in the branch. That was my first encounter with resignation. I was at home for some months trying to run my own design outfit, but brokenness soon chased me out to seek another job. It wasn't long before I got another offer and began work. Let me tell you, if you have content in you, recruiters will notice it and quickly hire you. Instead of growing your own business with your talent and creativity, you will likely be using your talent to grow wealth for other businesses under the auspices of receiving salary. In November last year, I reminisced over my new working conditions. I saw myself writing down my personal dreams and resolution every year but by year end there is nothing to show for it. But meanwhile, the company can boast of achieving its corporate goals through my dedication and hardwork which doesn't result in any compensation. So I took a new decision to suffer in achieving my own dreams. Yes, you read the word right, SUFFER! A salary job is a secured means of earning. Something will come in at the end of the month. But running your own business may not guarantee you this, at least not in the few years of establishment. So before you drop that letter, you must also take the resolve and resolution to suffer awhile till you achieve it. It may get so tough that you will regret your decision for resigning, but if truly you have the talent in you, stay through it and with time you will make it through. I cannot promise you it will be all smooth but those businesses you are running after for job started with a dream. Dream it and take the stride to achieve it. However, if you do not have the demeanor to suffer the growing stage of startup business, please kindly keep your salary job and chase your dream parallel of working. 17:00hrs: 10-04-2015: The countdown began for two major big events, my birthday and Nigeria’s most tensed presidential election. I was now at the R.A.C for the distribution and disbursement of electoral materials against the election proper. 23:00hrs I had just received sensitive and insensitive materials on behalf of my unit. It began with just one shot and then the shots became sporadic. We quickly took cover, just in case. We knew their target was the election materials and our S.P.O jokingly made us understand we had signed to receive the materials form INEC and so the responsibility to protect the materials was now ours. 11-04-2015: 24:05hrs: Date or time was no longer in purview. It was all about surviving the current hour. While sleep left some faces others (mostly women) went about to find space to sleep. Myself and other guys stood by the materials. At least we will be able to give detailed report and account of whatever happened to them if the worst happened. The devil got to work with his evil thoughts as he pushed one to me saying you will leave the world the same day you came into it. Little did he know anyway that this boy is under Grace. The gun shot rented air was soon substituted by loud siren blast of the back up squad of mobile policemen who chased the attackers away 01:00hrs Sleep was no longer a luxury at this time as death seems to crawl with it at this point so we all kept vigil with the policemen. We eagerly waited for dawn so we can get this all over with, 06:00hrs No wishes yet as those that could make an early wish have been ruffled over night to even remember the birthday of their friend. We prepared to mobilize to our different units as buses and more security escorts arrived. I had my khaki worn on my mufti wear just in case the masquerade has to become man again. 07:30hrs-08:00hrs All was calm and cool at my unit as we set up.. ...Continue https://www.objectivegist.com.ng/2019/12/the-2015-birthday-experience.html?m=1 |

I was pressed and rushed towards a public toilet to take a pee, but upon getting to the door it was locked, or so I assumed. I tried the lock only once but since it didn't open, I assumed someone must have locked it from behind. I retreated, but someone else walked past, turned the knob and pushed the open. The door only jammed and needed an extra push. The other fellow knew the 'formula' to get it opened while I was retreating in assumption. Since it's a public toilet I assumed.... Assumptions! Sometimes we expect or assume a door to be locked that we don't push hard enough to get it opened. We simply retreat at the first failed trial. What door of opportunity are you trying to get opened? Push harder, it's only jammed for the moment. The formula is to keep pushing.. https://www.objectivegist.com.ng/2019/11/the-jammed-public-toilet-door.html?m=1 |

I've heard some Christian brothers saying they got a revelation of who to marry in a dream. We agree that there is only one Almighty God that Christians and Muslims serve. But when it comes to the matter of marriage, it is 'haram' for the Muslims and the Christians also see it as 'unequally yoke' marrying from the other religion. One quick fact I must establish is that Christian couples can be unequally yoked too. It doesn't have to be with a Muslim-Christian combination before couples are "unequally yoked" How?
