Why are you guys just scaring the op unnecessarily? The only problem I see here is that the op is a newbie to cars and does not know how to properly describe car issues. That car simply is overheating, the engine sound he's describing is a pinging sound which can happen in any overheating engine, whether Toyota, Honda or Hyundai. Nissan makes great cars. I used a qx4 for more than 3years without any issues. Op, go to a good mechanic and find out why your car is overheating and rectify it. Simple! |
I really didnt want to say anything about mayor before now, but I can independently and confidently say that most of what the op has said is true. I'm a medical doctor living in festac, hardly have time. I has the option of going to either honmusa at Gbagada or Mayor at Igando. Honestly there was nothing wrong with my car. It was a 3 month used from Tokunbo 2002 accord 4 cylinder. The only issue I had was the fuel economy of this 4cylinder was exactly like the 2001 accord v6 I had earlier (a car that had done 9 years in naija ). Honestly I wasn't getting poor mileage I only felt this should be a little better. I drove to mayor's place September 2017 with my friend who is a kazeem. Hmmmmmm. He messed up my car. Said he wanted to do a 'tuneup' in his words. Spent the whole day there doing a tuneup. At the end he and his boys could not couple back my car engine well. The car kept vibrating so violently. I had to leave there at 8pm with the car like that. This was a car that I drove to the island and then to igando with ac, no vibrations. He sold me some stupid brand new Bosch plugs for 12k in total. With these new plugs I drove back to festac that night and my car consumed a quarter tank for a distance of about 15miles (I drove 80 miles from half tank to 1/4 tank on my previous plugs which he condemned during the tuneup). Then after 22k spent for a tune up, I had my car vibrating like a tractor engine and using up a quarter tank for 15miles without traffic. It took my kazeem to reassemble my car engine properly to stop the vibrations and then I changed the 12k plugs back to simple platinum tipped Tokunbo plugs (2,500 for 4) to get my fuel economy back to where it should be. I won't have narrated all these if mayor had a good attitude, he actually at 7pm wanted to leave me and my car with his boys at his workshop even when the car was refusing to start. Honestly it's a pity. I've spoken to Gazzuzz only 3 times without ever meeting him, and he solved my issues with just a bit of advice on all occasions. Mayor clean up your act. My piece |
I used to use a 2001 Honda accord v6. My commute was festac to Victoria Island and back daily. In my personal experience, there is almost no difference in fuel consumption between the i4 and v6 accords. I used to use 20litres (N3,000) for 3 days, to and fro. With ac. A total distance of 90miles with all the traffic V6 accord rocks man |
Justbright, that's 226miles (361km). There is a difference. Your odometer is calibrated in miles. Another thing what's yr fuel tank size |
If the outer bolder calibration is in mph, then yr odometer is in miles, not km. You cannot calculate using the signpost because 1 mile and 1km are close just a factor of 1.6 between them, except your instrument cluster has been changed. Not that I believe 135miles is good enough for 35litres of petrol in city driving. I do more than 150miles on same 35litres on a 2001 Honda Accord v6, city driving, with AC |
Is your speedometer calibrated in km or miles? This is important because 1 mile = 1.6km. So if it's 135miles, that would translate to about 216km. Please check your odometer very well |
You will suddenly notice very bad fuel economy. Please stick to the P tyres. Just buy a better brand and they will last you 4years, give or take. |
Oga this is clearly not an 06 es330. You need to Google and find out the difference between the 02-04 es300 and the 05-06 es330. Una too like argument, Mr dealer wey no know motor |
GAZZUZZ:Oga Gazzuzz I beg to disagree with you on this. I know you mean well for him and all, but I think you should go easy on the stereotype. In my personal experience, I bought a Nigerian used 2001 Honda Accord v6 (Baby boy). Note it was imported into the country and used by someone for 7years before I bought it. I used that car solely in Lagos with mad traffic and all. On a 60 litre full tank, I regularly averaged 250- 270miles, that is, over 400km. The car was fuel efficient. The 2002 Avalon has a larger tank so should do more miles. I think the key is two treat your car right as per manufacturer's specifications and you will be fine. I have friends with i4 engines that cannot even do 180miles on a full 70litre tank. |
Oga Gazzuzz, please I need some help. My 2002 accord v6 has a small but big issue. I can hardly use the Ac. It works very well, but each time you get into traffic, the rpm goes so low and car acts like it's going to go off. Without the Ac on,it has no rpm issues. What do u think? At idle, d rpm is abt 0.8, my kazeem is talking about manually resetting the rpm. What do u think sir? |
Was it 81km or 81miles? Show us yr dashboard if you are not sure. If it's 81miles, which is same as 130km, then it's very okay. |
With my Hyundai Tucson 06, I do 180km Highway with 15litres of fuel. Mark you that's with Ac all through, and it's a 2.0litre engine in a 4wd SUV. Your primacy should not be more than 1.6litre engine, it should not use more than 7 or 8 litres on a 90km journey, with ac. Which is what my car will do. So you need to check yr car properly |
This is the 98/99 model pls |
Hmm, it seems nairaland is now for jokers! Do u realize what you are selling is basically a European spec 2000/01 Nissan maxima And Nigerian used for that matter for 2.3m ? Haba. The toks of that car is barely 1m. You guys just post anything you like. Good luck with your sales, but realize that price tag is a big turn off |

But this is pure wickedness!!! How can anyone in half of his right senses call this 1992/93 es300 a 2001 car? What do u stand to gain from such barefaced lies. And just look at yr price, for a 1992 model car ? |
[quote author=Tomjazzy2 post=53898042]Just one question for you: are you saying all 2003 model cars were manufactured 2003 [/quoteYes now, Oda. That's why it's a 2003 model car. |
personally, I don't believe from ikorodu to lekki and back is up to 95km. I think you got your calculations wrong. Lagos to Ibadan is 110km. think about it. mile 2 to lekki and back is abt 45-48km. When you get the right distance in kms, then you wil find out your car's true fuel mileage |
cool |
the only issue I see here is the op trying to get a brand new car standard at the price of a Nigerian used. we have all bought cars, both tokunbo and Nigerian used, you spend money to bring it up to your taste either way. won't you buy a battery for your car before? and why in God's name, won't u inspect a car before buying? In your own case, op, I honestly and sincerely don't see any scam? I've bought a tokunbo car before and within days, I changed the power steering pump and a few shocks. Haba!!! |
na wa o |
I use that same car, 2001, but a v6. Personally I think your friend's car is still consuming a bit too much. I buy 4,000 fuel and drive mile 2 to lekki and back, 3 times, with AC. One of the most basic things you need to do is make sure you change your spark plugs to a better grade and stop running your car fan direct |
Na wa o. I drive an 02 honda baby boy v6, but I do 30miles to and fro of mainland to island traffic with AC with only 5litres. D estimated fuel index for my car is 20 city, 28 highway. Your 02 rx300 is supposed to be 18 city, 22 highway., so you can see how fuel is being wasted. |
Is that for a one way trip or for a week?. You need to be clear |
what is this? |
oga, this is a golf 4 now. Are you not a car dealer? Why won't you know the diff BTW golf 4 and 5? Google is your friend pls |
wow. what the hell |
magicminister:please if you need clarification on something, say so, instead of jumping into wrong conclusions. The truth is Mayowa is a Sickle Cell Disease patient, and has been managed at LUTH for a long time. The hospital cannot start divulging that info now, can they? We are too quick to jump into conclusions and rubbish our institutions based on sheer ignorance. |
Kelechi2020:You are wrong. the 2009 Crv has a 4cylinder engine which is rated at 166hp. the 2007-9 rav4 has both 4 and 6 cylinder engines. I personally love the Crv though. |
please wat year of Rio is this? Used to think the 08-09 model engine was less than 80k |
Oktoberfest:Listen up. There are two high courts in Benin city...the State high court along Sapele road, and the Federal high court, close to Ramat park. That picture is genuine, that is actually the road to the federal high court in Benin. Its a very short road less than 300metres off the main road, leading to the FHC. So don't criticize what you don't know, please. |
Oga, this is an 01/02 model, not even 04. Please always state the correct facts of your cars. If you don't even the year of manufacture of the car, I wonder what else you know about its true state. I actually need a clean 04/05 civic. |
And Nigerian used for that matter for 2.3m
