Y do yoruba, edo and housa christians answer English names

You see how daft you are, few minutes ago you were claiming that because Ikwerres bear igbo names that automatically makes them igbo. Now you can't give me an answer why Igbos bear English names.
You are igbo so answer my question, u aren't an Englishman so why bear English name? So I have to conclude since Igbos bear English names too they are automatically from Britian or the US or perhaps Australia

And fyi not all Igbos are Catholics so that part about baptismal names is totally out of it.

You haven't answered my question, it's not a must to have an English name. Have seen so many people that don't have English names, so why do Igbos have English names?

I didn't want to reply you but I think I should. Stop been stupid by reffering to me as a Brown roof dweller, not like i care though but I am not Yoruba. I repeat I have friends that are Igbos right from school and close family friends, to them biafra doesn't exist!

Igbo are not forcing anyone to be Igbo or not. They are too busy breaking intellectual boundaries, making giant strides globally, getting elected to lead people in USA, Britain and even 'racist' poland.

As in eh at times I wonder if it's the same igbo people I interact with and have as friends that are on nairaland. The Igbos on nairaland are obviously different from the Igbos I know in real life, I think the ones on nairaland are the spare parts dealers and the riff raffs. I have never heard an igbo person mention biafra to me and it baffles me.

Igbo names are Igbo heritage and properties. It is God's gift to Igbos. You don't have a right to insult Igbos for defending their heritage from being used by riff-raffs who have decided to be foooled by abookies.

There are many sensible Ikwere Igbo just like there also some annoying Nnewi Igbo. But a spade must be called a spade, palatable to your ears or not.

I am asking you why do Igbos also bear English names, Ikwerres ain't igbo. They are proud of who they are so let them be.
I laugh at times when some of you make stupid comments on nairaland, a successful and enlightened Ikwerre man or woman doesn't know you Igbos exist they don't even talk about Biafra and you nitwits will come on nairaland to type jargons.

They obviously don't want to identify or be part of you guys so please let them be. And the language ain't pure igbo, cultures might be similar just like some parts of the world people practice the same culture but that doesn't make them same.

so by adulterating the name "Nwabueze" as Wabueze you have created a different ethnic group? Ikwerres are yeye people, do this ppl know that others in enugu or anambra also pronounce the name as "Wabueze" in their dialects too but do not write it like that but write in standardized igbo??

You Igbos should leave the Ikwerres alone, haba you dumbos need to learn about names allover the world. Just because they bear igbo names doesn't make them igbo, there are so many people allover world who bear similar native names but are from different places and
ethnicity.

Igbos sure have a long way to go, with the intelligent brain wey God give una u people still dey reason like mumus.
