Good day all
Abeg no vex for my question but I try to do research before I come here and ask

Trying to get NIN for my 5 year old for passport renewal. Still waiting for their Aberdeen office to call us to come do it.
Can I go ahead with the online application and pay without the NIN?
But wait for the NIN before going to London for biometrics

You’ll need to have the NIN to apply for passport online. How come you’re waiting to be called for NIN? Over here in North West i just picked an available date on the website, made payment and went in for my son’s registration, NIN was sent to my mail the next day.

Does anyone have an idea of how long it takes to get your passport after capturing(standard appointment and not fast track).
Also can one request for the passport to be posted to my address and what’s the process please?

Update on this. I emailed support@innovate1services.com and they sent this link https://appointments.immigration.gov.ng/. I now have a date on Feb 14th. You might want to try this link if you have paid and waiting to be contacted. You might have to email them directly if the link doesn’t work for you.

God bless you for this piece of information, i was able to secure February appointment for my child as well.

Hi everyone! I don’t know if this has been discussed earlier here, because it’s been a while I came in here. I have a very big issue with mold in my house. Been cleaning and cleaning but it keeps coming back darker, bigger and scarier. I had to complain to the leasing agent and the landlord’s contact was sent to me. He handles all the repairs in his !

As others mentioned, until the cause is addressed the moulds will continue. Keep disturbing the landlord and the agency and ensure all your correspondence is via email, even if you speak on phone with them biko follow up with a mail.
Let them know the health implications to your children and threaten to get the council involved.

This was all I did in my last rental before moving to my own place. It worked like magic, they sent specialist who discovered the mould/damp is from a leak in the chimney.

You can’t, you have to wait until they email you an appointment date but that can take months.

If you have the money go for fast track, you don’t need appointment for that.

@justwise, please what’s the process for the fast track? Do i fill the form on their website and then do a walk-in?

Unfortunately everything you’ve said is 100% true. Your child’s form will ask for a parents NIN. They weren’t doing it in the UK last year. I guess 2022 is for ‘change’. Pele dear. The quicker you start the process the better.

It is well with me. Thanks sis

I’m trying to renew my child’s Nigerian passport and was told he’ll need a NIN before he could apply. Please how true is this for children under 16 years old.
Also i was told i have to apply for my NIN first (even though i’m not applying for passport renewal at the moment) before my child could apply for his NIN.

NIN registration is £40 per person. I just don’t understand all these unnecessary costs as a result of passport renewal.

Thank you. So does it mean as far as I do not withdraw my money (other than to buy a house) I won't pay back the 25%?

You can access your funds plus the interest if the purpose of withdrawal is house purchase or pension(from age 55 i think). I’m with moneybox and you get your 25% interest paid on your deposit monthly.

Hello,

I just want to appreciate everyone here. You guys are doing a great job. I have learnt so much here from discussions on building credit score to buying a house. I moved to my own house in October after 10 months of 'crazy'. Buying a house in the UK is not for the faint hearted. We started looking at houses last year and left to pick it up again in January and it was a case of you put in an offer and some else offers 10k above the asking price. It was a sellers market not sure if it has changed now. Someone here mentioned the Facebook group (First time Buyers) - its really good. Thank you.

I digress, this is an appreciation post. Thank you all.

Congratulations! Glad the Facebook group helped. It’s a jungle out there (property market).

Please is proof of finances allowed to be kept in accounts like piggy Vest and Petty save (The are Fintech banks).
My cousin is saving his funds there for the 28days count but i thought proof of finances is only allowed from commercial banks.

@tushqueen...

... Made an attempt to claim maternity allowance...? And what happened after the attempt.

SMA not public funds but however, it appears from my understanding that MA might in some ways be claiming from public funds. You are only entitled to Maternity allowance if not on SMA and whatever you get affects your other benefits. In essence, it is linked to the whole benefit system and entitlement.

Moreover, you have to have made a certain amount of NI contributions to get most benefits including this MA.

Actually MA is not public funds, all you need to fulfil is NI contributions. I claimed MA when i had ‘no recourse’ condition on my visa and that never affected my subsequent renewals.

Good morning Dear Men and Brethren especially the Ancients on the thread:

Advice me please. Thank you.

No matter how short the number of years is, buying outweighs renting because you are building equity.

I’ll advise you check the postcode/location on zoopla or Rightmove and you’ll see the previous house prices over a period of time. That will help you to decide if the area is good for property investment.

Like i said this argument shouldn’t stay as this might set an unprecedented scenario whereby we might all be asked to forfeit our British passport one day just because our ancestors are not from here and move back to our country of origin.

I think we need to stop pulling the race card at every stop. What this girl did is sacrilegious and a crime to humanity. We need to start teaching our kids from early age that every action comes with consequences.

[Strictly my opinion]

Masters in Public Health (MPH) on its own without a fantastic experience in the field of public health is as useful as the letter ‘P’ in Psychology or Pneumonia. As vital as the letter ‘W’ in Greenwich or Norwich.

First thing is, look through UK job sites. Including civil service jobs. Peruse their requirements. Hardly will you see a job advert that requires the applicant to hold an MPH.

In my opinion [again, strictly my opinion], a good 1st degree, with RELEVANT experience is more vital than an MPH with little or no experience.

If I may ask, in what field was your niece’s 1st degree?

Thank you for the response.

First degree and experience is in public relations. She’s just trying to deviate to a course that is a little related to healthcare without needing to have a healthcare background

Hello fam. My niece is trying to apply for masters in public health and we are not sure of the relevance of this course to today’s UK labour market.
Do we have anyone with public health background, works in related field or have relevant information about the practice here in UK as it relates to employability.

Hello guys, pls i need you all to look at this.

I am an embryologist, and i just got a job with a Hospital in Manchester (CF) after doing series of interview.

the starting salary is 25k annually which i consider small for me.

I would like to find out the best city to stay,( within a 30mins radius to Manchester) because i dont think i can live in the city center with that amount. also do you advise i bring my family immediately? will that salary be enough for us.

Please i need help, i have just a month to get ready.

@justwise and everybody else.

thank you.

My cousin is on annual salary of £21k and it’s a family of three in Manchester. He works in city center but lives in Middleton which is about 25 minutes drive to work, so this can work.
For a start, you could get a shared room for 3-4 months, that will help you to save and settle down before bringing the family.
You can then get a two bedroom afterwards for about £500-600 in Rochdale, Bury, Middleton, Bolton or even Leigh which are all around 30 minutes drive from the city and all have direct bus/tram/train to Manchester.

I did Experian free trial and my record is clean. However, they miraculously deducted 52 points saying that I'm not on the electoral roll, which because I reconfirmed for the electoral office.

I would check on the estate agents website as advised.

Could you please give names of this groups. "Property buying uk". Isn't bringing valuable results.

Thanks for your input.

Senior home owners, how did you lowball(made a bid).

I have read almost all articles online. The advice is 10 to 15%.

However, checking Zoopla for houses that have been sold, there's an average of just 5k off the listing.

Is there any tip about making a good and acceptable. tip from your personal experiences?

Can you lowball a listing that says "prices over..." Or guide price "30-50". Even though it has been on the market for almost 6 months.

Tray2, RalphLauren, justwise, Lexusgs430... plus everyone that has an advice.

Btw, credit score is taking shape and working on getting my records from TransUnion and Equifax.
Thanks to everyone that gave their input.

Firstly I’ll recommend you register on ‘checkmyfile’ it’s a platform that has all the three credit agencies (Equifax, Experian and transunion). They’ll be able to give you a comprehensive credit report from all the three and i think the first month is free. The score isnt as important as your report(missed payments, ccjs, UVA, etc) so look out for that.

Secondly, register with developers for new builds or estate agents for old builds. Most houses would have been on the estate agents’ websites for some time before finding its way to Zoopla, Rightmove and others. And with the current climate (due to stamp duty holiday) properties are gone before you can say ‘jack’.

Only offer what you feel a house is worth to you and never go overboard, there’s no crime in putting down any offer, the worst that can happen is the seller saying no or to decline your offer.

There are lots of property buying groups you can join on Facebook, they helped me a lot when i was getting my place.

If you have more specific questions, feel free to ask and I’ll try my best to answer the little i know

Okay... thks mama
So to clarify coming back later to pick him up..how easy can that be without hassle.
How much does childcare or after school cost?
Maybe a range to plan ahead
Kindly help

Is the child’s visa approved already? If yes, then bringing him to the UK is easy. You can go back to nigeria anytime and pick him/her or use ‘unaccompanied minor’ service if the child is above 5years old (most airline offer this services, I’ve used it in the past for my daughter and it was perfect).

Age of the child determines childcare cost. 0-3 is about £900 for a standard nursery in my location. You get free 15hours from 3years then you have to consider after school care if you have classes in the afternoon/evenings.
You can look for informal arrangement with nannies or minders, although it has its challenges and shortfalls.

Hi, just reach out to the regional office. You would have to pay your deposit and write a letter requesting for a discount

Please how was your deposit paid. The school only allows bank payments through western union which is not available in Nigeria i guess. The other option is card payment

I got a 2k discount. Call the regional office to put you through. Once you’ve passed the credibility interview and submitted your bank statement you’ll get your CAs after 7 days

Please how can i claim this tuition discount for my sister. I applied for her here in the UK and got unconditional offer. They requested for ielts but I already sent them her waec result and awaiting a new offer letter.

It's a combo mortgage and loan application, usually from the same lender....... The beauty of a broker........ grin

There’s even a company called ‘proportunity’. They provide you an equity loan like ‘help to buy’. Difference is the higher interest rate and it can be used with old builds.

Options available to you...........

Broker to patch shortfalls (that 1% fee is worth it's weight in gold).......

Get a bank loan......... (don't over stretch)

Joint mortgage + joint source of funds.....

There are even non-fee charging brokers now. One of my best decisions was to go with a mortgage broker.

Do asusu with a sizeable drop........ Etc etc etc

Thank you very much.

Any tips on ‘friendly’ banks?
I currently bank with Barclays (old school bank)
And with Starling (JJC/novice/smallBoys bank- according to someone I know).

Please any idea of a bank that is friendly? Please

Halifax is very mortgage friendly and are lenient with people with adverse credit report
