[quote author=Bourne007 post=94934588]I see nothing wrong in saying Childcare / baby sitting if he wants to. They definitely are aware grandparents do come over from anywhere in the world to spend time with their grandkids. Some of us actually learnt the hard way, my friend’s mum was denied a visit visa because of this. The VO stated she is coming for childcare purpose when there are numerous childcare service providers in the UK. There is also a clause in the home office document regarding visitors who act as temporary child minder -"neither of the parents should be in a category leading to settlement”. Some things are better left unsaid, no VO will deny grandparents from coming to visit or see their grandchildren so it’s clever to leave it at that. |
TRAY2:Invitation letter Account statement Payslips & offer letter Passport Mortgage statement/tenancy contract or council tax bill Marriage certificate I stated i was sponsoring her trip and i think it helped that i sent to her account the flight fare to show commitment from my end. Also do not mention In your letter that reason for inviting her is for child care because that’s a no-no. All the best |
lynniebabes:This your question is doing me one kind . By ‘posh’ you mean you are ready to pay £2k pcm for a 3 bedroom house? Anyway your budget, proximity to work, number of children, etc will determine location. Manchester is not that small so you need to pick your location wisely and not solely on ‘poshness’. |
Godlove087:You are in luck since you are still a prospective applicant. Have a thorough read of the link below it should guide you in your decision. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-announces-2-year-post-study-work-visa-for-international-students |
Godlove087:Are you still in study or have you completed your MSc? For now, you can explore the Tier 2 or Tier 1 route though. |
Munazik:I used attached and passed the first time. I think cost is £4.99

wallg123:I used a certified and highly recommended Jew for my son 2 years ago. It cost about £150 and was stress-free. |
Braket:I was in your situation few years ago when i got here. Mortgage was my goal but i needed to build my credit score to achieve that. I registered with ClearScore and they gave me tips on how to grow my score, my first credit building card was pre-approved on ClearScore. With a credit limit of £200 i started my journey. Tips: * register on a free credit score app * apply only for pre-approved credit cards * if you use your card wisely, you could end up not paying interest (that worked for me) * avoid close-spaced hard searches. You already said you are registered on electoral roll so that’s great. It might take up to four months before it reflects on your score though. All the best |
Hello house, please i need some insights to Jersey tourism. My cousin who is based in Nigeria but has a valid UK visa plans to travel to Jersey next year for two weeks. Does she need to apply for Jersey visa from Nigeria? Or does her UK visa suffice if she travels through UK as both countries share common travel area. |
Teepp10:Child benefit is public funds. |
TRAY2:Biko no vex with Admiral, it’s good to shop around for car insurance renewal but i can assure you the premium will be similar because you recently moved from provisional to full license. Worked with some insurance firms in the past and they see new full license holders as high risk so their premiums is always quoted higher. |
Lexusgs430:I went for the ‘rent to buy’ scheme for a year plus and was able to save a little more for down payment and afterwards went for a freehold property. Although It’s not a new build, it’s in a great location and I’m happy with the peace of mind that comes with it. As na only me and my bank be the only parties for this relationship , no government(help to buy) or housing provider(shared ownership). |
umarwy:As a first time buyer, i think you should start by meeting with a mortgage advisor. He/she will be able to inform and explain all the pros and cons of these schemes. Majority of the advisors do offer free consultations, i used mortgage advice bureau and it was free, insightful and helpful. I wanted shared ownership at the start but when i was exposed to the challenges associated i changed my mind fast, some of them are inability to rent out or sublet the property, difficulty in getting lenders due to the complexity of the terms, if you eventually decide to sell (even with with the higher share) the housing provider has the right to buy back the property before it is marketed to anyone else, so that limits your options, and some others. |
umarwy:I’m a little confused, do you mean ‘help to buy’ or ‘rent to buy’? Cos they are are two different schemes. Rent to buy is when you rent a new build at 80% rate for a maximum of 5 years. This is in place to help you save the 20% towards down payment when you are ready to buy a property. ‘Help to buy’ is when the govt substitute upto 25% of the value of a new property in order to augment your deposit/down payment. This will reduce the amount you’ll borrow from your mortgage provider and also help you get very good and competitive rates. |
You can apply to live in the UK to care for your child. Eligibility If you’re eligible to apply as a partner, you must do that instead of applying as a parent. Your child must either: * be under 18 on the date you apply * have been under 18 when you were first granted leave and not live an independent life * Your child is living an independent life if, for example, they’ve left home, got married and had children. Your child must be living in the UK. One of the following must also be true: *they’re a British citizen *they’ve settled in the UK - for example, they have indefinite leave to remain, settled status or proof of permanent residence *if you’re applying in the UK, they’ve lived in the UK for 7 years continuously and it would not be reasonable for them to leave Parental responsibility You need to have sole or shared parental responsibility for your child. If you share parental responsibility, the child’s other parent must: *not be your partner *be either a British citizen or settled in the UK If the child lives with their other parent or carer, you must have access to the child in person, as agreed with the other parent or carer or by a court order. What you’ll need to prove *You must be able to prove that you’re taking an active role in your child’s upbringing and you plan to continue after you apply. For example you could provide letters from your child’s: *school confirming you take them to school or go to parent evenings *dentist confirming you take them to appointments other parent confirming how much contact you have with your child (you’ll need to include proof of their identity, such as their passport) You must also prove you: *have a good knowledge of English *can financially support yourself without claiming public funds *If your child or any other dependants live with you, you must also prove you can financially support them without claiming public funds. If you do not meet these requirements you can still extend your permission to stay if: *your child in the UK is a British citizen or has lived in the UK for 7 years *it would be unreasonable for them to leave the UK |
Dee282:Every application is being treated based on its own merit, because it worked for you doesn't mean it will for the poster. Even though you are still within the validity of your visa you have extended your stay and this might not go well with the VO when next you apply. If for any reason you had to extend your stay then it’s advisable you back it with explanations and evodence, My friend applied to stay 2 weeks in the UK and ended up staying 1 month, she explained in her next application that she extended her stay because her sponsor had a baby upon her arrival and she backed it with evidence and it was a smooth process for her. Moreover 3 weeks is enough for people to work here as a child minder, nanny or paid work with cash in hand. I always advise people to get it right the first time to avoid stories that touch much later on. |
I created this thread to assist applicants for “leave to remain” on the PARENT ROUTE. I have towed this route in the past and have a wealth of experience to share, if you have any enquiries or advice please feel free to share here. |
I had 16 months like you and i travelled on one way ticket. megaSD: |
I think this was the clause that affected you. You showed from all indications that her father contributes to her upbringing. The only way this could work for you is to show you have been the sole provider for the child, i stated earlier in my reply that i got invoices from his school stating me as the payee of his fees since inception. carnal: |
Since both of you are not legally married then i dont see a reason for him to apply as your dependant. If you still have the required funds for your daughter in your account then reapply for her. These were the documents i used: sworn affidavit that am a single mum, father’s consent letter and a sworn affidavit by dad stating have been the one taking care of the child since birth, dad’s ID, child’s birth certificate showing my maiden name, letter from child’s school as well as invoices from sch showing me as the payee of his fees. All these shows that you are the main custodian of your daughter and not going with her to the Uk is not an option for u. I also printed an application i sent to a carer website to show i have made provision for my child’s care while am away at school. carnal: |
I dont know what you stated in your application for the VO to have arrived at that decision. I applied for my tier4 visa along with my child as a single mum and we both got our visas, the only document relating to his father is just the consent form, sworn affidavit and his ID. I don’t think the father of your child needs to apply alongside for your child to get a dependant visa except if you already disclosed some information that was put into consideration. carnal: |

Please go through my comment and you will notice I specified UK savings accounts not Nigeria. Our banking systems works slightly differently. opomulero: |
If you could move funds to your current account to show it’s readily available for use, that would be better. Also if its possible for you to send some amount to your mum’s naira account back home to cover some of her travelling expenses like flight ticket and mention that in your letter, that was what i did when i invited my sister. edmasta01: |
I have said it before, the VO most times do not consider funds in your UK savings account when they process visa applications. To them, funds in a savings account is not readily available to you so they will only consider the balance in your current account which in this case is already in debit as stated in the letter. This i feel is the major reason why she was denied the visa. edmasta01: |
I think you already entered a one chance, administrative review is no longer allowed on tourist visas. alert20: |
I’ll advise you use both accounts again and explain better in a cover letter about the savings accounts in case it was an oversight the first time. chomc: |
Regarding her business account, I’ll advise your sister gets a reference letter from her bank in Nigeria, the reference letter will confirm she is a sole signatory of the account. She should also add the school’s CAC registration documents as proof. I actually scanned and email all my documents to my sister. chomc: |
