[quote author=Bourne007 post=94934588]I see nothing wrong in saying Childcare / baby sitting if he wants to. They definitely are aware grandparents do come over from anywhere in the world to spend time with their grandkids.

Some of us actually learnt the hard way, my friend’s mum was denied a visit visa because of this. The VO stated she is coming for childcare purpose when there are numerous childcare service providers in the UK.
There is also a clause in the home office document regarding visitors who act as temporary child minder -"neither of the parents should be in a category leading to settlement”.
Some things are better left unsaid, no VO will deny grandparents from coming to visit or see their grandchildren so it’s clever to leave it at that.

Hey guys winter is here, have you had your flu jab yet. I intend inviting my mother in-law on visiting visa to help with child care around January/February next year, she has 5 year Visa to Canada which she visited early this year, please what documents do i need, and how much do i need to have in my account, and how long will it take to be ready. I am on tier 2 visa. Has anyone applied before?
Invitation letter
Account statement
Payslips & offer letter
Passport
Mortgage statement/tenancy contract or council tax bill
Marriage certificate

I stated i was sponsoring her trip and i think it helped that i sent to her account the flight fare to show commitment from my end.
Also do not mention In your letter that reason for inviting her is for child care because that’s a no-no.

All the best

Please I need answers
This your question is doing me one kind . By ‘posh’ you mean you are ready to pay £2k pcm for a 3 bedroom house?
Anyway your budget, proximity to work, number of children, etc will determine location. Manchester is not that small so you need to pick your location wisely and not solely on ‘poshness’.

I will check my eligibility with them. Hopefully it works?

I didn't pass the eligibility with Halifax last month. Does it matter if I try this now or I should do it sometimes in the future.

I am actually living way fine without a credit facility but this economy and credit score is the reason why I'm applying for one.
I was in your situation few years ago when i got here. Mortgage was my goal but i needed to build my credit score to achieve that. I registered with ClearScore and they gave me tips on how to grow my score, my first credit building card was pre-approved on ClearScore. With a credit limit of £200 i started my journey.
Tips:
* register on a free credit score app
* apply only for pre-approved credit cards
* if you use your card wisely, you could end up not paying interest (that worked for me)
* avoid close-spaced hard searches.
You already said you are registered on electoral roll so that’s great. It might take up to four months before it reflects on your score though. All the best

Hello house, please i need some insights to Jersey tourism. My cousin who is based in Nigeria but has a valid UK visa plans to travel to Jersey next year for two weeks. Does she need to apply for Jersey visa from Nigeria? Or does her UK visa suffice if she travels through UK as both countries share common travel area.

my first quote was ok £745 with my provisional license, when i got my License, i had to pay additional £452, which i found ridiculous, and they wouldn’t take even a pence off it. I’m gonna have to look for a better deal when it’s time to renew.
Biko no vex with Admiral, it’s good to shop around for car insurance renewal but i can assure you the premium will be similar because you recently moved from provisional to full license. Worked with some insurance firms in the past and they see new full license holders as high risk so their premiums is always quoted higher.

I went for the ‘rent to buy’ scheme for a year plus and was able to save a little more for down payment and afterwards went for a freehold property. Although It’s not a new build, it’s in a great location and I’m happy with the peace of mind that comes with it.
As na only me and my bank be the only parties for this relationship cheesy, no government(help to buy) or housing provider(shared ownership).

Is rent to buy and shared ownership as good as it looks??

As a first time buyer, i think you should start by meeting with a mortgage advisor. He/she will be able to inform and explain all the pros and cons of these schemes. Majority of the advisors do offer free consultations, i used mortgage advice bureau and it was free, insightful and helpful.
I wanted shared ownership at the start but when i was exposed to the challenges associated i changed my mind fast, some of them are inability to rent out or sublet the property, difficulty in getting lenders due to the complexity of the terms, if you eventually decide to sell (even with with the higher share) the housing provider has the right to buy back the property before it is marketed to anyone else, so that limits your options, and some others.

1. No rent to buy,

3 I have a help to buy ISA account thanks
I’m a little confused, do you mean ‘help to buy’ or ‘rent to buy’? Cos they are are two different schemes.
Rent to buy is when you rent a new build at 80% rate for a maximum of 5 years. This is in place to help you save the 20% towards down payment when you are ready to buy a property.
‘Help to buy’ is when the govt substitute upto 25% of the value of a new property in order to augment your deposit/down payment. This will reduce the amount you’ll borrow from your mortgage provider and also help you get very good and competitive rates.
TravelRe: Uk/ Flp Fr Application - Parent Route by Endlessgrace(op): 3:40pm On May 24, 2020
You can apply to live in the UK to care for your child.

Eligibility

If you’re eligible to apply as a partner, you must do that instead of applying as a parent.
Your child must either:

* be under 18 on the date you apply
* have been under 18 when you were first granted leave and not live an independent life
* Your child is living an independent life if, for example, they’ve left home, got married and had children.

Your child must be living in the UK. One of the following must also be true:

*they’re a British citizen
*they’ve settled in the UK - for example, they have indefinite leave to remain, settled status or proof of permanent residence
*if you’re applying in the UK, they’ve lived in the UK for 7 years continuously and it would not be reasonable for them to leave

Parental responsibility
You need to have sole or shared parental responsibility for your child.

If you share parental responsibility, the child’s other parent must:

*not be your partner
*be either a British citizen or settled in the UK
If the child lives with their other parent or carer, you must have access to the child in person, as agreed with the other parent or carer or by a court order.

What you’ll need to prove
*You must be able to prove that you’re taking an active role in your child’s upbringing and you plan to continue after you apply. For example you could provide letters from your child’s:

*school confirming you take them to school or go to parent evenings
*dentist confirming you take them to appointments
other parent confirming how much contact you have with your child (you’ll need to include proof of their identity, such as their passport)

You must also prove you:
*have a good knowledge of English
*can financially support yourself without claiming public funds
*If your child or any other dependants live with you, you must also prove you can financially support them without claiming public funds.

If you do not meet these requirements you can still extend your permission to stay if:
*your child in the UK is a British citizen or has lived in the UK for 7 years
*it would be unreasonable for them to leave the UK

In the last ten years I have traveled to the UK more than 20times!! I have spent 5weeks, 4weeks, 3weeks, 10days, etc. on a single trip and I have never had to explain myself.
Every application is being treated based on its own merit, because it worked for you doesn't mean it will for the poster. Even though you are still within the validity of your visa you have extended your stay and this might not go well with the VO when next you apply. If for any reason you had to extend your stay then it’s advisable you back it with explanations and evodence, My friend applied to stay 2 weeks in the UK and ended up staying 1 month, she explained in her next application that she extended her stay because her sponsor had a baby upon her arrival and she backed it with evidence and it was a smooth process for her.
Moreover 3 weeks is enough for people to work here as a child minder, nanny or paid work with cash in hand.
I always advise people to get it right the first time to avoid stories that touch much later on.

TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by Endlessgrace: 1:06pm On Sep 08, 2018
I think this was the clause that affected you. You showed from all indications that her father contributes to her upbringing. The only way this could work for you is to show you have been the sole provider for the child, i stated earlier in my reply that i got invoices from his school stating me as the payee of his fees since inception.

carnal:
many thanks,a new consent letter was drafted alongside his visa page attached with data page of passport and a word of appeal signed with his full contacts included, yet they gave these reason for refusal.

do i just apply as a single mother or do i make him apply as dependant?

meanwhile i also read that "unless i am the sole surviving parent or has had a sole responsibility for her upbringing". i really dont understand these line. please all i need help. i want to re-apply again,i have spent so much already as these last application was super priority
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by Endlessgrace: 1:00pm On Sep 08, 2018
Since both of you are not legally married then i dont see a reason for him to apply as your dependant. If you still have the required funds for your daughter in your account then reapply for her. These were the documents i used: sworn affidavit that am a single mum, father’s consent letter and a sworn affidavit by dad stating have been the one taking care of the child since birth, dad’s ID, child’s birth certificate showing my maiden name, letter from child’s school as well as invoices from sch showing me as the payee of his fees. All these shows that you are the main custodian of your daughter and not going with her to the Uk is not an option for u. I also printed an application i sent to a carer website to show i have made provision for my child’s care while am away at school.

carnal:
REFUSAL NOTE STATES - In order to qualify under this category both your parents are required to be lawfully present in the UK or at the same time be applying for entry clearance under the same category unless if there are any other serious family or other considerations for now refusing this application.

I didnt not state him as my partner when i was applying, i only submitted the birth certificate of my daughter where his name appears as the father. the only mistake i saw in that application was that i didnt submit the consent letter (which i misplaced) during the up and down movement ,that application was returned with "incomplete documentation" as reason for visa refusal and mine was issued. the father of my daughter already has a visa,my question now is what do i do?should both of them apply for tier 4 dependant?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by Endlessgrace: 9:07am On Sep 08, 2018
I dont know what you stated in your application for the VO to have arrived at that decision. I applied for my tier4 visa along with my child as a single mum and we both got our visas, the only document relating to his father is just the consent form, sworn affidavit and his ID. I don’t think the father of your child needs to apply alongside for your child to get a dependant visa except if you already disclosed some information that was put into consideration.

carnal:
THANK YOU, I DIDNT SEE STATEMENT THAT STATES WE MUST HAVE LIVED FOR TWO YEARS TOGETHER, MOREOVER HE HAS A SEPARATE FAMILY, WHAT DO YOU ADVISE PLS?

I dont understand ds savings account issue.

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Endlessgrace: 8:37am On Jun 23, 2018
If you could move funds to your current account to show it’s readily available for use, that would be better. Also if its possible for you to send some amount to your mum’s naira account back home to cover some of her travelling expenses like flight ticket and mention that in your letter, that was what i did when i invited my sister.

edmasta01:
So what exactly is the remedy to this situation?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Endlessgrace: 5:59am On Jun 23, 2018
I have said it before, the VO most times do not consider funds in your UK savings account when they process visa applications. To them, funds in a savings account is not readily available to you so they will only consider the balance in your current account which in this case is already in debit as stated in the letter. This i feel is the major reason why she was denied the visa.

edmasta01:
So my mums visa application to come and visit me and my family for a one month visit to see her grandson (5 month old) on holiday was refused.

Attached is the refusal letter.

She is not a first timer. She has visited us in the UK before back in 2011 to attend our marriage blessing (wedding) and she only spent two weeks which was what she quoted on her application form at the time.

Here are the documents that I submitted:

1. Invitation letter
2. My British passport
3. 6 month pay slip from work
4. My Son's birth certificate
5. My current account statement (with balance of less than £100)
6. My Savings account statement (with balance of a little over £7,000 pounds)
7. My wife account (where all our household expenses are debited from)

8. My mortgage statement (to prove my residence)

9. 11 months worldremit money transfer receipts (I send N50,000 each to my dad and mum every month for their upkeep.
I also include a money transfer receipt from february this year showing that I sent home money to pay their rent at the flat that they live in).

My mum submitted the following documents

1. Her bank statement (that reflect the monthly 50k money transfer I do through the agent into her account every month)

2. My dads bank statement (that shows that I send the same amount to my dad too)

3. A letter from my dad stating that he is giving permission for my mum to visit us in the UK for one month

4. A copy of my dads passport showing that they bear the same last name (they don't have a marriage cert. They married under traditional marriage)

5.

In the invitation letter, I stated that I will be funding her trip from Lagos to Nigeria to heathrow and to my house and back to Nigeria at the end of the trip using the money saved in my savings account (i quoted the account number).

I also said that my parents are dependent on me and I send them regular stipends (with the money transfer proof and their bank statement to show it) as they are older (dad is in his 70''s) and do not have any form of income like pension.

I also mentioned that she will be staying the entire trip at our residence. And i mentioned that I have earmarked the sum of £3,500 out of the funds available in my in my HSBC savings account for her trip.

I gave a detailed budget below:

Flight Ticket and Airport Transfer £1,000
Grocery/Food shopping £600 (for four weeks)
Visit to attractions £500
Stipends (for her to spend) £750
Travel Insurance £150
Miscellaneous £500

Can you good people in the house help me look over this and suggest what I can do to resolve the issues that the ECO raised. Thanks.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Endlessgrace: 10:48pm On Jun 14, 2018
I think you already entered a one chance, administrative review is no longer allowed on tourist visas.

alert20:
thanks buddy.. I am reapplying asap. just met a woman at tls ikeja today, she is an immigration lawyer and she told me she will write the British high commission on my behalf to review my case..

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Endlessgrace: 10:27am On Jun 08, 2018
I’ll advise you use both accounts again and explain better in a cover letter about the savings accounts in case it was an oversight the first time.

chomc:
So you reckon it won’t be an issue considering this is a reapplication addressing previous refusal. I am just concerned they might wonder why I took off previously submitted document?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Endlessgrace: 8:45am On Jun 08, 2018
Regarding her business account, I’ll advise your sister gets a reference letter from her bank in Nigeria, the reference letter will confirm she is a sole signatory of the account. She should also add the school’s CAC registration documents as proof.

I actually scanned and email all my documents to my sister.

chomc:
Many thanks, much appreciated.
just confused though. The funds in your sister’s acc isn’t that significantly higher than what is in my sisters acc. She als supposed a business acc in excess of 1 million though the ECO mentioned their isn’t evidence of being sole signatory to the acc.

As per the highlighted. I’m lost. You referring to fix deposit? A lot of people I know move extra funds into savings account . It’s norm as easily available

Did you mail your original docs down or scanned across?
