EXCLUSIVE! Fayemi presents N25bn Budget to Buhari for Ekiti guber election, Says "Ekiti people are poor, they will sell their votes" In readiness for the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State, the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi Fayemi has submitted a budget of N25 billion to President Muhammadu Buhari to fund the election. Fayemi, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), presented the budget to the President through his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari before the President met with governorship aspirants in Abuja yesterday. A source that was privy to the development disclosed that Fayemi frankly told the Chief of Staff that “Ekiti people are extremely poor, when they see money, they will vote for me. The moment there is money, we can buy enough votes to win the election.” Even before he declared his intention to vie for the governorship, Fayemi had allegedly boasted that he had capacity to provide N8 billion from his own pocket to fund the election, while also giving the assurance of N20 billion from the Presidency to buy one vote at not less than N20,000.″ After presenting the N25 billion budget to President Buhari’s Chief of Staff yesterday, a meeting was fixed for Saturday, where how to source the fund will be discussed and finalized. The source however revealed that four major government institutions are already penciled down for the provision of the fund. Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai was listed to be contacted to handle the souring of at least, from N10.5 billion from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) since his person is the Managing Director while the Minster of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi will raise N6 billion from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA). The remaining N8.5 billion is expected to be raised from the NNPC. http://www.premiumreporters.co.uk/2018/05/exclusive-fayemi-presents-n25bn-budget.html?m=1

[BREAKING] Gun-running allegation: Dino Melaye granted bail The trial judge in the gun-running allegation against the Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has granted the bail application in his favour. Justice Nasir Ajana, who ruled on the bail application before a Lokoja High Court on Wednesday (today) in Lokoja, based his ruling on the conviction as submitted by the defense counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) to the effect that the continued incarceration of Senator Melaye will jeopardise his health condition, which he said was “deteriorating.” He also said that there was nothing to show that the applicant would jump bail if granted. Ajana therefore admitted Melaye to bail, with one surety for N10m. The embattled senator was not in court, as he was still on hospital admission in Abuja. http://punchng.com/breaking-gun-running-allegation-dino-melaye-granted-bail-in-absentia/

The Minister of Mine and Steel, Dr. Kayode Fayemi Had boasted that the All Progressives Congress(APC) will deploy all the governmental advantages it has to wrest power in Ekiti from the Peoples Democratic Party come July 2018. He also threatened that once the PDP was roundly defeated, the governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, would be prosecuted for mismanaging the economy of the state. But we want to remind Dr. Fayemi about His earlier statements on April 25 2014 said that: Federal might is always going to be a factor in any election, but I can assure you that the peoples’ might is bigger than federal might. So, we have nothing to fear.Mr Fayemi in 2014, according to your prophesy, the People's might eventually prevail, Fayose won. So also this year 2018, People's Might is greater than your Federal Might.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, has condemned last week Friday’s attack by suspected APC members on a High Court in River State. The attackers, who blocked the court around 11 a.m that Friday, were believed to be members of a faction of the ruling All progressive Congress (APC), seeking to stop a judge from pronouncing a judgement in a suit filed by an opposing faction of the same party. According to multiple sources who spoke with PREMIUM TIMES, at least two persons were killed and others injured in the attack. In the statement signed by Mr Onnoghen’s spokesperson, Awassam Bassey; the CJN said the attack could be visited on other courts, if not checked. “The Honourable, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Mr. Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, GCON, has been informed of an attack on the Port Harcourt High Court complex on Friday, 11th May, 2018. “According to the reports, this attack took place as Judges, Magistrates, staff and lawyers reported for duty at the said Rivers State High Court Complex in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. Judicial and non-Judicial staff were denied access to the Complex as all the gates had been padlocked and the buildings surrounded by hoodlums. “These hoodlums, who were said to be heavily armed, reportedly inflicted bodily harm to Judicial Officers and other staff of the Judiciary going about their lawful duties and destroyed some properties belonging to the Judiciary. “This action was aimed at stopping the Court from sitting and delivering a ruling in an intra-party dispute of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in respect of the Local Government congresses of the party in the State,” the statement said. It added that the action was disturbing. “This latest act of intimidation of the judiciary and the unwarranted violence against a peaceful institution of an Arm of Government is quite disturbing. More importantly, such show of shame ought not to be encouraged by right thinking members of the Nigerian Public.” The statement also expressed fears about further attacks as Nigeria approaches the 2019 election year. “If the enemies of our peace and democracy succeed or get away with what occurred at the High Court in Port-Harcourt, it would be a source of encouragement to them to do same to the Court of Appeal, and ultimately, the Supreme Court of Nigeria, whenever any one of them perceives that a judgment may be delivered against any of them or the interests they represent. “The Judiciary remains the last hope of man, and our Judges and Judicial Officers are called upon to remain true to their Oath of Office. They must remain focused, resolute, and courageous, regardless of the effort at intimidating them. “The Nigerian Public is urged to continue to have faith in the Judiciary of the Nation. Any person with a legitimate complaint against another person, organisation or institution is advised to employ the civilised and legal mode of redress as contained and guaranteed by our Constitution. Whoever is dissatisfied with the outcome of decisions of our Courts of Law has the right of appeal as Constitutionally guaranteed. The Judiciary will never fail in its duties. “Violence, the type visited on the Judiciary of Rivers State is alien to any civilised society and therefore condemnable.” https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/more-news/268419-cjn-condemns-attack-on-rivers-high-court.html
