For a country to be self sufficient, there must be opportunities for its citizen. These opportunities only come alive, when one can make money from whatever one does. Agreed the price of some commodities are relatively high, this will not last forever because when supply outstrips demand, price will fall, for now, we need stable hands on deck and people with intergrity on the till. Not someone who will give fayose 4billion, ffk 3billion, dieziani 1.5 trillion, mama peace 300 billion, just to name a few and all from CBN yet this OP oshi, alakori is crying "how much is ponmo in 2018"

you keep making silly statements about price of rice, pms, yam and what have you. PDP is to blame for the high price of commodities today. Why, how? Simple. PDP refused to save for the rainy day.
As at 2015, the FR was $29b. The CBN could not meet the daily forex demands of the country. Now, what happens when there is excess pressure on scarce resources, price will rise (simple economics). These comodities are imported. We needed dollars for imports of which PDP refuse to save. Also, recall that initialy PMB refused to devalue the naira opting to remove some goods which we can produce in the country from accessing dollar from CBN.
Again, devaluatoin encourages exportation. It is not about the value of your currency but the stability of it. Japan, italy, china, etc comes to mind. When currencies are devalued, exports become cheap and imports expensive, and vice versa. Also this creates opportunities for enterpreneurs with the multipler effect being job creation. A high valued currency would make imports cheap.
People like the OP don't want to work. They want to keep sharing the money. Marco economics policies takes time to achieve their targeted impact.
As Usual.

GEJ failed woefully. He surrounded himself with thieves mostly easterners and left the system to rot.

Politics‘unrepentant Ethnic Champion’ — Fayose Blasts Buhari Over New NIA DG by engineerboat(op): 7:34pm On Jan 11, 2018
‘Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment of Ahmed Abubakar as the new director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

Abubakar was appointed as a replacement for Ayo Oke, former head of the intelligence agency, who was sacked on 30 October 2017, following the controversies trailing $43.5m found in an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos.

According to Fayose, the forefathers of Nigeria must be lamenting were they to see “what Buhari has turned the country into”.

Fayose, in a statement by Lere Olayinka, his spokesman, said while Lawal was replaced by Boss Mustapha, from Lawal’s Adamawa hometown, Buhari failed to pick Oke’s replacement from his state.

He described Abubakar’s appointment as evidence that Buhari is an “unrepentant sectional leader, who does not care about the feelings of people from other parts of the country”.

“Seeing what President Buhari has turned the country to, the forefathers of Nigeria, who laid the foundation of the country on equity, justice and fairness will be lamenting wherever they are now,” Fayose said.

“President Buhari has consistently demonstrated that he is an ethnic champion, a religious bigot and the number one promoter of disunity in Nigeria. This he has done again with the appointment of yet another northerner as the NIA director-general.

“Ambassador Ayo Oke was removed from office the same day Babachir Lawal was removed as secretary to the government of the federation.

“While Lawal’s replacement came from his home state, Oke’s replacement came from the north. That is unacceptable.”

Fayose asked if there was no one from the south qualified to head the agency.

He added that given Abubakar’s appointment, “all” of the country’s security chiefs are northerners.

“With the appointment of Ahmed Rufai Abubakar as the NIA Director General, all heads of security agencies are now northerners and the question is, is this what those who enshrined federal character in our constitution envisaged?” Fayose asked.

“The implication of what the president has done is that, when security council meeting is held today, apart from one or two insignificant people, those in the meeting will be people from one section of the country.

“Even para-military agencies are headed by people from President Buhari’s section of the country. This is unfair.

“Those who argued then that the president made the appointments on merit should come to the open to tell Nigerians, especially those from the south that there is no one that merited appointment as Director General of NIA.”7

PoliticsThe Lies APC Told Us About PDP 16years Rule by engineerboat(op):
The All Progressive Congress (APC) keep blaming PDP for their misfortune, as if Nigeria was better of before the 16years of PDP rule.

I remember before the 16years of PDP, things were really tough and rough for Nigerians. I remember trekking a distance of about 10km to load sawdust that we would use to power Abacha stove. Kerosene and electric Stoves were for the elites, even at that, there was scarcity of kerosene. If you can't afford Gas cooker, Electric stove, Kerosene stove, or Abacha stove, you'll go for Firewood.

Electricity 'NEPA' was not stable, people were forced to buy generators, which needed gasolines that were either in nonexistent or were exorbitantly priced.

I remember that in the whole of Ado Ekiti, houses with Nitel Telephone lines were not up to 500, but that has changed, as 150Million Nigerians are now active telecoms subscribers, thanks to #PDP16Years.

As at 1998, before Abdulsalam Abubakar increased minimum wage from N800 to N5,200, universities lecturers were earning N3,000 as minimum wage, their very survival from month to month depended on how much extra money they could make from being 'kabu-kabu' drivers, emergency contractors, subsistence farmers, etc.

Before #PDP16Years, civil servants were tenants, in fact 90% of them could not boast of buildings of their own. But that changed drastically, when PDP increased their wages from paltry sum they used to get to the Udoji they are getting now. Majority of residential buildings now are owned by civil servants ( I stand to be corrected), thanks to #PDP16Years.

Before #PDP16Years, rickety cars populated Nigerian roads. The best we had then were Mercedes and Peugeot used by government people and heads of companies, but now, that ugly story has changed! Civil servants, artisans, even students now cruise cool rides.. As bad as they have made PDP look, and as ugly as they have painted PDP, the party changed Nigeria for better.

Before #PDP16Years rule, Nigerians were used to watching Black & white TV's, coloured Televisions were for the rich people, but today, the story has also changed. Thanks to PDP, the bridge builder.

I remember that eating polished Rice used to be twice a year what we were used to, in this part of the country were Egbo, Iyan koko, Tuho, Feregede, Wayi-wayi, Muke, Abari etc. PDP came and updated our menus, yet the APC who in less than 3years destroyed everything good about Nigeria keep blaming PDP.

Nigerians roads especially the Federal roads, before #PDP16Years were potholes riddled. In Ekiti, Ado to Ilesha that shouldn't be more than 60mins drive on a good motorable road used to be 2-2½hrs depending on your navigation. But today, the story has changed. Thanks to #PDP16Years

Today in Nigeria, all the states of the Federation including Abuja have Higher Institutions of learning, credit goes to #PDP16Years rule

PDP economic teams were not Patrons of Herdsmen or cows rearers. They're financial experts, seasoned economists, technocrats, and best in their respective fields, that was why they were able to record so much successes they recorded.

In less than 3years they (APC) are in charge. Thing have inexplicably gone from better to worst. The Bag of rice that was sold for N7,000 under PDP now goes for N18,000 under APC.

Governance isn't by propaganda, it is by result. Under APC, the PMS is now N200/ltr as against N87/ltr that Nigerians bought it under PDP. Dollar to Naira under PDP was N100 to $1 but now, it is $1 to N370

It is obvious, PDP did not destroy Nigeria, they only corrected what Buhari and his military juntas had years back destroyed.

PDP delivered, yes! The party did it's best, but it's highly unfortunate and regrettable, Nigerians thought they could get better option, they fell cheaply for APC deceits, and ended up fallen from GRACE to grass.

It is not too late to right the wrong, not too late to chase away the prodigal ineffectual buffoons running the Nation's affair. 2019 is around the corner. We must get it right this time around.

PoliticsTanko Yakasai Reveals Five Things ‘killing’ Buhari’s Government by engineerboat(op): 10:38am On Jan 10, 2018
A 92-year-old former Liaison Officer to the national assembly during the President Shehu Shagari’s administration, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has said that he warned Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari’s lacked five critical elements of leadership which has affected his administration.

Yakasai, who supported former President Goodluck Jonathan said Buhari’s lack of ideas has crystallized for all to see.

According to Yakasai, the five necessary ingredients in leadership which include capacity, competence, vision, planning and integrity are absent in the president, adding that President Buhari never prepared to lead the country.

The 92-year-old told Vanguard, “I’m 92 now, and if at 92, I cannot use my common sense when will I deploy it again?

“When I made that statement against Buhari, it was attack from left right and centre, insult here and there, particularly from this part of the country. Since then, I have kept quiet because I knew I would be vindicated one day. I don’t have any more to add.

“What I said is now confirmed by events. What I said then was that President Buhari was not prepared to govern and that his party has no programme for Nigeria, and it happened. Why should I waste my time anymore?

“I said it; you have seen and every other Nigerian has seen it. Why can’t I rest and I deserve some rest, and I will allow them to do the talking. I did the talking when it was necessary for me to do and now, it is no longer necessary because Nigerians are doing the talking now.

“I believe there are five important ingredients necessary for successful political leadership, and these include capacity, competence, vision, planning and integrity.

“In my opinion, our present national leadership is totally lacking those ingredients. All of them are inherent, they cannot be bought or borrowed, and nobody can change the situation for the better, we have to live with it to the end.”

PoliticsRe: Ekiti 2018: Adeyeye, Olujimi, Others Ask Secondus To Stop Fayose by engineerboat(m): 10:39pm On Jan 09, 2018
Ekitidefender:
Four leading governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State have urged the National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, and other National Working Committee members to stop Governor Ayodele from imposing a candidate for the July 2018 governorship election.

The governor has endorsed his deputy , Prof . Kolapo Olusola , as the “ most preferred candidate ” for the party in the election.

The aggrieved aspirants are a former Publicity Secretary of the PDP National Caretaker Committee , Prince Dayo Adeyeye , Senator representing Ekiti South , Mrs Biodun Olujimi ; a former Nigerian High Commissioner to Canada , Dare Bejide and the immediate past commissioner for Justice , Mr Owoseeni Ajayi.

At a joint press conference in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, they argued that the party stood the risk of losing Ekiti if Fayose was allowed to subvert the party ’ s constitution and impose his anointed candidate .

They called for the setting up of a caretaker committee to conduct the primary.

Specifically , the aspirants want the national leadership of the party to stop the governor and the Gboyega Oguntuase - led State Executive Committee from playing any role in the process leading to the PDP primary.

They argued that the duo had already compromised , having taken positions and cannot be fair to all the aspirants.

Adeyeye , who read the text of the press conference , said , “ We reject without reservation the adoption of Prof Olusola as the sole candidate for the July 14 governorship election.

“ The State Working Committee having betrayed its expected neutrality role , should be disqualified in the process leading to the gubernatorial primary in April . We demand a caretaker committee to replace them for the state .

“ Governor Fayose has pitched his tent with Prof Olusola and he should be disqualified from playing any role . The relevant provisions of the electoral Act and the PDP constitution should be followed strictly and arbitrary and illegal use of state apparatus like radio and television stations to subvert the truth must stop. ”

Adeyeye advised Secondus to act fast and caution Fayose to prevent the calamity that befell the PDP in Ondo from playing out in Ekiti .

In her contribution , Olujimi warned that no politician that wanted to win election in the state could wish any of them away .

“ Whoever says we are politicians that can be wished away will have himself to blame , the result will be grievous .

“ We don ’ t want to lose Ekiti but Governor Fayose is messing up the whole process. It was because people like us worked hard in 2014 that made the 16- 0 possible for PDP .

“ Prof Olusola was only a beneficiary of our sweat , he didn ’ t contribute anything and now he wants to be adopted against the party ’ s constitution , this we will not accept , ” she vowed .
