freeborn76: As usual albino Senator representing Twitter constituency has already tweeted that there was nothing like Lagos-Calabar rail project; what a shame. Can somebody tell me one major contribution Senator Ben Bruce has made since joining the National Assembly? He seem to spend more time on his phone than on reading between the lines of very important sociopolitical issues. All I know is that Buhari, Osinbajo and Udoma are too dignified to lie just to win cheap political points...rather than clamour and insist on the inclusion of the rail project in the budget, some busy bodies here are insulting the presidency...kontinu! hear yourself out for once, it was not in the Original, padded, mixing, re-submitted budget (acclaimed original) by PMB, this was back-door submission to the committee and not the whole NATIONAL ASSEMBLY, this should be done by supplementary budget presentation, that is what NASS is saying |

There is no subsidy in the true sense of the word, what we have is monumental fraud! Till date, not one person or govt agency can give a true picture of "subsidy CLAIMS" payment, process & beneficiaries...
However, let's refuse to face reality as they are, continue to trade blames & argue to face our side of bias!! The BIG QUESTION NOW is why did PMB pay the subsidy, answer the question jowo toriOlorun At the bolded, what we've be clamoring for is that let This APC led government stop blaming past administraiton, let them do job they were elected to do and stop complaining and blaiming. |

Politics › Re: Bloody Rivers: Amaechi, Wike Are Gainers, No Political Gladiator Ever Loses by engineerboat(m): 9:51pm On Mar 18, 2016 |
TonyeBarcanista: Let me start by saying that as an indigene of Rivers state, I am ashamed of the news coming from my state as we prepare for the scheduled National Assembly and the State House of Assembly rerun elections. An election that is supposed to be a political contest has become a bloody warfare. It is a shame that the political gladiators and major stakeholders are more interested in scoring political points with deaths and instigating violence instead of using the powers at their disposal to nip the violence that has brought shame to the state to the bud. Nyesome Wike is the incumbent Governor, his position isn't up for grab, Rotimi Amaechi is the minister representing Rivers state in the federal excutive council, his position isn't on the line, yet statements credited to them are but a shame.
Both Amaechi And Wike Are Gainers, None Is A Loser Anyway, my concern is the set of supporters and youths that allowed themselves to be used as a tool to settle scores on behalf of politicians. I have monitored the stories of the Rivers violence and the victims carefully, I saw NO single victim that is related to Mr Rotimi Amaechi and Governor Nyesom Wike. Hundred percent of the victims are either tagged "APC Supporters/Chieftains" or "PDP Supporters/Chieftains". I checked again to see who the biggest beneficiaries will be in the contest and the names of Amaechi and Wike propped up. It is a fact that irrespective of how the election goes, neither of Amaechi nor Wike will lose completely. Wike will still be Governor, Amaechi will still be minister and is guaranteed life mouth-watering benefits from Rivers state's purse as a former Governor. The losers are always the victims and merchinaries of political violence.
The Gladiators We Kill For Have Ways of Uniting History has shown that politicians in Nigeria are never enemies. They always have a way of stoking violence between supporters and they still have a way of coming together to share the booty without recourse to ANY of their supporter nor victims. I will give a few instances....
Between 2002 and 2003, then PDP's Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso supporters clashed with those of ANPP's Presidential Aspirant Muhammadu Buhari and ANPP's Governorship candidate Ibrahim Shekarau, people lost their lives in the process. However, thsame gladiators that people died and got injured for between 2002 and 2003 made up in 2013 and united under APC broom. Today, Buhari is the President under APC platform while Kwankwaso is a Senator under same APC platform. What did those that died for them between 2002-2003 got? Any insurance for them?
In Ekiti state between 2006 and 2013, supporters of PDP's Gov Segun Oni and AC/ACN's Kayode Fayemi engaged themselves in bloody clash in Ekiti state, people lost their lives and properties. The same gladiators that people died for between 2006 and 2013 made up in 2014 when Segun Oni joined APC. Today, Fayemi is a minister under APC government, while Oni is the acting National Chairman of APC. What did the families of the victim got? What did the victim got? Any insurance?
In Osun state, PDP's exGov Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Governor Rauf Aregbesola's supporters repeatedly clashed between 2006 and 2010, several lives were lost in the process. Today, same political gladiators are best of pals in APC. Oyinlola even nominated some appointees to Aregbesola. Who loses? The victims or gladiators?
Some of us may remember the bloody clash between PDP's Adebayo Akala supporters and Ajibola Ajimobi in 2007(ANPP) and 2011(ACN). There were even picket of clashes in 2015 when both battled each other the third time for the state's number one seat, as usual lives were lost. But what do we have today? Akala is an APC Chieftain and an ally of Ajimobi. What did their supporters and victims get? Who loses?
Even in Rivers state, I could recall how Wike/Amaechi fought with Omehia group in 2007. Today, Wike and Omehia are pals, Omehia receives full estacodes of exGovernor, but Amaechi and Wike are dramatising to be foes. Since their supporters started clashing, who has been losing among them? Wike is a Governor, Amaechi is a minister, Peterside is DG NIMASA. What did the victims of the violence get? We all know that "something" awaits the losing candidates for the rerun election either in the federal level or state level as the case may be. What awaits the victims of the violence and their families? In fact, Wike will always pay Amaechi his entitlement as former Governor.
Should I remind all that even at the peak of clash between then Lagos state Gov Tinubu(AD/AC) and then Works minister Seye Ogunlewe, Gov Tinubu still appointed Ogunlewe(PDP)'s brother as his Head of Service? What compensation did their victims get? Even when Musliu Obanikoro's supporters and those of Bode George were killing themselves in 2007, both men still got "something" for their troubles. Bode was retained as NPA Chairman, while Obanikoro was appointed an Ambassador to Ghana. What did their footsoldiers and victims of attacks get other than Obituary and Gone Too Soon?
NO political gladiator is worth the blood of any poor Nigerian. Why should we kill ourselves for them when we are aware that they always have a way of settling each other? Did Fayose not openly supported Fayemi for juicy ministerial appointment of recent? Is it not time for the youths to be wise?
Young people and citizens of Nigeria should always be passionate about positive political ideologies that will advance the cause of our country irrespective of political leaning, and not cheer the gladiators when they pitch us against each other.
As for the Rivers poll, though I want my party to win the rerun, I shall not support winning through violence of any form. I want a #PeacefulRivers and not a #BloodyRivers. I want a Rivers that I can be proud to call my state.
This epistle should be more than enough for the wise!!!
May God Bless Us All and Bless Nigeria Good one there Comrade TonyeBarcanista, How i wish this political foot soldier will hear word Its Re-run election not Do-or-die election, Then Again I wish to use this medium to appeal to the Two Warlords. #Amechi & #Wike to sheald their swords and call their foot-soldiers to order making inciting statements to score polictical points does not bring forth good thing God bless Rivers state |

Travel › Re: 7 Most Dangerous Roads To Travel In Nigeria( SEE PHOTOS) by engineerboat(m): 9:10pm On Mar 05, 2016 |
opeyemiieblog: Some of the most dangerous roads to travel in Nigeria are as following :
1). Abuja-Lokoja-Okene-Kabba: If you have travelled from anywhere in the Southwest of Nigeria to Abuja through the Lokoja-Okene road in Kogi State, then you will understand that this is a road of death. Not only is this road bad, it is a haven of armed robbers. Thousands of passengers travelling the Lokoja-Okene road to Abuja or to Ondo State have been waylaid by armed bandits and dispossessed of their goods. The same can be said of the Ilorin-Kabba-Lokoja road and the Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road among others along that same axis.
2). Lagos-Sagamu-Ore-Benin road: An analyst noted that “If there is any road in the country that has portrayed successive governments in the country in bad light as failed governments in the last two decades, it is the Lagos- Sagamu –Ore –Benin road.” This road is not only bad and terrible for motorists, it is also a den of robbers where unfortunate passengers have been robbed and raped if their vehicles break down along the road. Travelling through the road is like travelling through the valley of the shadow of death.
3). Lagos-Ibadan expressway: Constructed in 1974, the 120-kilometre highway is the only major road linking Lagos to Ibadan and other states within and beyond the Southwest of the Nigeria. The FRSC reported that in 2012 that 775 people died in 2,075 accidents along this road. The main dangers along this major expressway linking other states to Lagos is that of unmotorable road and frequent accidents, largely caused by oil tankers and overspeeding vehicles on the expressway filled with potholes.
4) Okigwe-Umuahia road: The ever-busy Enugu Port Harcourt expressway has always been a death trap for commuters. While road contractors hired to repair and maintain the road had abandoned it due to funds not being released by the government, the roads have fallen into terrible disrepair and become a death-trap for motorists and passengers alike.
5) Otukpo-Otukpa road in Makurdi: It is true that Otukpo and Otukpa roads are both within Makurdi in Benue State, this is a major road where craters, gulley erosion, potholes, and even dare-devil robbers rule the road. From Otukpa to Otukpo, the ancestral home of Idoma kingdom; you’d be forced to dance along with your vehicle to no rhythm for close to four hours in the journey, which ought not to last for about one or 2 hours. A columnist wrote that “For regular travelers, the thought of venturing on Otukpa- Otukpo road is the beginning of a journey into uncertainties, eternity or the easiest way of booking appointment with fate and grave, nay a way of bring money for nearby coffin makers.”
6) Enugu-Awka-Onitsha road: The deplorable state of the highway linking Enugu, Awka, and Onitsha has forced hundreds of motorists to abandon the road and reroute via the old road from Udi to Awka. Several people have died in traffic accidents occurring on this road, and it continues to be a serious headache to passengers and motorists alike.
7) Kaduna-Abuja road: The Kaduna highway links many states in the north of the country to Abuja but boasts of over 400 potholes. In fact, the state of the road bears no image of a channel that links major states in the north to the Federal Capital Territory. An 18- seater Hummer bus was once involved in a ghastly motor accident that caused the loss of 14 lives along this road – they were all burnt to death beyond recognition. The vehicle had been coming from Kano State to Abuja.
