Once again, the ever controversial Denrele dazzled with his picturesque red braids at a FAB night in PH! The event was organised by Princess Adaobi Ohaeri to celebrate a deal she signed with the all new Joey's nightclub to retail the all natural energy drink; Forever Active Boost! It was a night of music and fun, with Denrele's shiny red braids complimenting the red cans of FAB energising the club. See pictures after the cut!

Have you ever thought about the number of people graduating every year getting that same degree you have and that same skill set? Schools were not only created to provide labor for the industries but also to ensure that labor can be easily obtained and replaced. Millions of people graduate every year fully equipped to serve as a competent replacement. In this day and age, employers can change staff as easily as changing the parts of a machinery. It is cheaper and sometimes more productive. Most employers don't want indispensable employees, they want employees that can be replaced and for good reasons too. I learnt recently that Lacasera sacked the entire staff in one day. Now, a good question to ask is this......why will a company take that kind of risk. Simple answer 'it can afford to replace all of them, take a little bit of loss and get back to profitability'. Now, some people argue that experience matters and I agree, but if you are a bank teller for example how valuable is your cash counting experience? Just about anybody can count cash. Some things don't need experience they just need someone that can follow a step by step instruction. The job system as we know it is broken, a new age is upon us. The age that requires you to step out of average. Nobody cares about the average person, average is easily replaced and forgotten, you can't win in the race to be average. If I can break down your job into a series of steps, I can replace you with the snap of a finger. Think about that!!! |

donpy:I read every word of your blog.Your analysis of the FLP compensation plan was totally wrong! Why did you not list the disadvantages of Trevo like you did for the other companies? What makes a company bad in your opinion? Remember that most presentations are organized by independent distributors, who often make some bogus claims. This is a review written by a blogger with a reputation http://casmireokafor.com/forever-living/ This is good for our industry. is he poorer? NO! |
donpy:@ donpy I read your article. it's a great disservice to the network marketing industry to make other companies look bad, just to sell yours. A lot of people have built networks successfully without 'badmouthing' other companies. This was an old school technique, and it's the reason why many people hate network marketing today. The new generation of professional Network Marketers agree that if we educate people about network marketing as an industry, then we'd have a larger audience! Which means more business. ...and for your info, I'm in Forever. I've built a Network spanning 5 states in Nigeria and US/UK. I've compared my bonuses with my friends in other companies. Your information is grossly misleading.I can bet my right big toe that your article has not helped your business grow! Who really wants the cure for all diseases in one bottle anyway? |
engrkenny:Read the article! Why do you want me to summarize for you? |

drberry:Hmmmmm, #100k can disappear in a jiffy! I don't know of anything you can invest 100k in that would give you good returns. Your best bet is to buy and sell! |
absoluteSuccess:@ absolute Success, I noticed that stuff like this never makes front page. Thanks for trying anyway! |
drberry:How much do you have to invest? I'm not an investment specialist, so you'd notice from my previous posts that I do not cover the subject. |
At some point in your life you’ve been pitched a multi-level marketing (MLM), direct selling, or network marketing business opportunity. While the pitch varies from company to company, it basically promises a chance to ditch your 9-5 work schedule, be your own boss, and make lots of money while making new friends in the process. It all sounds good on paper, yet there is a seemingly endless debate over whether these companies and programs are legitimate business opportunities or not, so I dug in and got the real scoop. As a result, I believe that the entire industry is poised for explosive growth and can be one of the most significant solutions to America’s current retirement savings crisis. Initially, that may sound like a bold statement, but it’s not if you understand retirement the way I do. The reality is, making a successful transition into retirement has more to do with psychology than with money… and the same may hold true for multi-level and network marketing. Don’t get me wrong, money has a role in retirement, but it’s not the primary one every one gives it. Combine that concept with eye-opening statistics like AARP’s estimate that half of all baby boomers (76 million) are interested in starting a business and the makings of a massive trend are in place. As far as the retirement saving crisis is concerned, more and more people are coming to terms with the fact that they probably aren’t going to be able to save enough money to just sit around and slowly deplete their nest egg from age 62 to 100. With the average 50 year-old estimated to have less than $50,000 in retirement savings, there is an obvious need to find alternative ways to either save more or generate supplemental income starting now, and continuing throughout retirement. Moving beyond just the dollars and cents, boomers are growing tired of feeling guilty or bad about their past savings habits and are interested in moving towards possible solutions. Another growing reality that could benefit MLM and related businesses is the increasing number of baby boomers who are disenchanted with their current careers. They’re worn-out from years of the corporate grind and don’t feel the connection between their job and the people it impacts outside their office walls or company grounds. They’re shifting their focus from accumulating a giant nest egg to a desire to be part of something bigger and better… to have a positive effect on others… and working in retirement. Facets of life that can be fulfilled with specific types of products and service available through some MLM or Direct selling opportunities. MLM and direct selling programs also offer very low barriers into entrepreneurship, often providing training, support, and ample encouragement along the way. As retirees begin to realize they need activities that keep them busy, relevant, in good health, and connected to others, the time, energy and cost to participate in these kinds of companies make them very appealing to large segments of the population caught up in these dynamics. This is not a ringing endorsement for the entire industry. Like any investment of time, money, and energy, people need to be aware of what they are getting into and do their homework. That’s the primary reasons I began researching the topic by reaching out to regular everyday people involved in these types of businesses and who were willing to skip the hype and offer a transparent view of the programs and give their opinions as to whether this can be a realistic source of retirement income. I initially spoke to a retired friend who said she joined a health and beauty direct selling company as a means of meeting new people. She had recently remarried and moved to a new location, so she combined the practice of meeting new people with making extra money. After almost a decade in the business, she’s built a small niche business with family and friends despite switching to from one company to another competitor after three years. She admits she doesn’t attend all of the company’s local meetings and goal-setting sessions because she’s not interested in becoming a top producer. She just likes to use the business activity to keep busy (particularly in the winter) and use the extra money she earns to travel and spoil the grand kids. Having studied the psychology and behavior of boomers, this example represents a major shift in my thinking about the industry. I no longer perceive these types of opportunities as money-making pyramid schemes. Instead, I now see it as a way to enhance many of the personal aspects of retirement that are rarely discussed let alone planned for, with the added benefit of supplementing other popular retirement income sources such as pension and social security. Daria M. Brezinski Ph.D, a practicing psychologist and former marketing director for a multi-level marketing magazine, echoes these sentiments. “Many people don’t realize that multi-level marketing companies are successful because they help people satisfy a number of important human needs, including feeling significant, having connections, learning something new, and making a difference. I have heard people in network marketing say again and again, ‘I’m doing this because I’m meeting amazing people … making so many connections … and I feel so good about myself.’” Dr. Brezinski’s point is well taken and easy to see practiced by popular network marketing companies. Many MLM and NM companies tout a three-to-five year plan to attain freedom and wealth, yet many of the people running company meetings have been in the business for five or ten years and still haven’t left their full-time job or landed on easy street. “As it turns out,” Dr. Brezinski notes, “when other human needs are being met, the members and consultants don’t focus solely on the financial aspects.” Continuing my interviews, I challenged three others who are in the business to be straightforward, and prove to me that the process really works. What I found was good, consistent business advice applicable to any new business. Lorene Hochstetler, from Ohio, recommends keeping your current job while slowly making the transition into MLM. She’s been able to replace her full-time income but explains, “It didn’t happen overnight, and I still work every day. I am very disciplined with my business and wake up every day knowing what I have to do in order to succeed at this. You have to treat it like a business and be willing to follow advice from others who have made it.” SOURCE: http://www.forbes.com/sites/robertlaura/2014/08/29/would-you-join-a-multi-level-marketing-company-for-retirement-income/ |

Odionastron:The article talks about pyramid schemes being illegal. Interestingly, it recognises the fact that MLM or Network Marketing is legal, and that there are also pyramids disguised as MLM companies. See below from article: "Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) Legal multi-level marketing (MLM) involves being recruited in order to sell a product or service that actually has some inherent value. As a recruit, you can make a profit from the sales of the product or service, so you don't necessarily have to recruit more salespeople below you. While you may be encouraged to recruit other salespeople whose sales would give you more profit, you can stick to just selling the product directly to the consumer if you choose. A pyramid scheme MLM, however, will most likely sell a product with no independent value. The product could take the form of reports of some kind, for example, or mailing lists. In this kind of pyramid scheme, you would be required to recruit new members into the MLM in order to make a profit and keep the MLM alive. Joining the MLM is the only reason anyone would buy the products sold by this pyramid scheme. Read more: What Is A Pyramid Scheme? I have noticed the speed with which people rush to condemn network marketing in Nigeria. I have even noticed that the mods put stories that condemn it on the front page, and ignore posts that try to explain it. Network Marketing is purely legitimate, and is a model used by companies to sell products or services. Companies like Mary Kay, Avon, Amway, Forever Living Products, Organo Gold etc are Network Marketing companies. They don't advertise or pay endorsements. Instead, they allow everyone register as distributors, use the products, sell to customers and register others to do the same. people are paid based on how much volume their entire network moves from the store. It's difficult for many people to succeed in this business because it requires a lot of personal development and hard work. Many come with the false expectation that they will only invest money and start reaping bug bucks soon afterwards. Others are just plain lazy. it's these failures that discourage others from giving the business a fair shot. Another problem is that there are unscrupulous distributors out there whose business practices make this legit business look like a scam. Bottom line is; like any professional venture, you need to be trained by a good sponsor and belong to a good team to succeed in network marketing. You spent over 15 years in school plus months or years of training to work where you are today, to earn between N75k - N1,000,000. Why do you expect to just jump into network marketing with less that 500k and hope to make a million the next month? There are many of us who are doing this business on the side. The time has come for us to educate the people, because there are many potential millionaires out there who just don't know that Network Marketing is the way for them! Have a productive week.

'Thought Of The Day: Don't listen to the masses on how to create wealth because 97% of people have no clue, I mean absolutely no freaking idea. At 17, after reading "Rich Dad Poor Dad" & "Think Big & Kick Ass" I began to question many things being taught to me by family, teachers, friends parents, all of it. It clearly states to "Take advice from people that have proven results." It doesn't say "take advice from mom/dad/teachers/whoever just because they're your elders or they're adults. That's plain dumb & makes no sense. If you want to be a millionaire then listen to millionaires. You want to make $50K a year? Go listen to "Uncle Jimmy Billy Bob Johnson." I've also learned age means just about nothing when it comes to financial intelligence. There are young people who are financially free & get it. There are also 50 year old men with families who have 0 clue. A good rule of thumb in life, not only business, is to ONLY listen to and take advice from people who are currently leading the life you desire. If I am EVER in front of or near anyone who has what I want.. I immediately ask them, "What is the secret to your success / give me one tip." When you ask this #1 you make them feel good & #2 you're about to learn. Did this exact thing a few nights ago with the #2 sports agent in professional sports, I've done this to John Paul Digorio (Paul Mitchell Systems networth $2,800,000,000), & just about everyone else I come in contact with who's "Got It." You wouldn't take advice about fitness from an overweight person or relationship advice from Tiger or Kobe.. So why are you listening to BROKE, yes I said BROKE family members, friends, & teachers? It's too funny when people get started in Network Marketing and their friends say "Oh you got started in one of those things, oh no." My response and thought is "What the hell is your plan and what the hell are you even talking about? What are you doing to get wealthy? Slaving 8 hours a day being told when to take your own family on vacation? As you are in the hole $70,000 from your (education aka 4 year scam most of the time) This is MY way out!" Anyways this may seem aggressive or mean or whatever but it's the TRUTH. What society and most households teach their kids, us, is disgusting. You should do what you love to do, get good enough at it, and eventually it will pay you. If you fully don't enjoy what you're doing, then stop doing it. Life's too short to not do what you love. MAIN TAKEAWAY: Listen to people who have what you want. And to everyone else, nod your head, smile, agree, & let it go in one ear and out the other' - Alex Morton. |
neahyo:Guy,I'm not yet an authority o..... maybe someone can help us with a good analysis. However, I know some entrepreneurs who are hustlers with good financial results. |
How can we help? Why not contact a lawyer to take up your case? These people are not kind to themselves in their own country. what do we expect them to do here? |
neahyo:Neahyo I actually enjoy your posts. Your arguements are valid. I do not have any counter arguement this time, because you're sooo right. I'm practising my form of entrepreneurship while working so as to have a plan B. Those motivational speakers who speak against employment were people who started just like me, and ended up building a business that gave them freedom to do what they want. Now escape from bosses in the office and the freedom to travel when you like, work when you like, sleeping and waking when you want to aren't fallacious in any way. There are thousands of Nigerians who live like this. But they still have to work for their money, except that they do not need permission to do what they do, and working hard while in control of their source of money brings joy. There's also the fact that many of them begin to move up the economic scale really fast. Don't you want to drive past Coscharis two or three years from now, knowing that you can afford every car in there? there are many reasons to dream. People that have these things have only one head, and I must join them. So my brother, these things are possible. But you have to believe first. NairalandDotOrg:Yes sir! Some people have to work! |
einsteine:I've learnt never to lose my cool when ignorant people comment on my threads. At einsteine, what better plan do you have? Let me enlighten you by doing a simple google search. NETWORK MARKETING "Network marketing is a type of business opportunity that is very popular with people looking for part-time, flexible businesses. Some of the best-known companies in America, including Avon, Mary Kay Cosmetics and Tupperware, fall under the network marketing umbrella" Network Marketing companies are legal, and only use the model to sell their products, while compensating distributors for generating sales. PONZI SCHEME "A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation where the operator, an individual or organization, pays returns to its investors from new capital paid to the operators by new investors, rather than from profit earned by the operator." Ponzi Schemes are illegal, and do not have any products. They pay the uplines with money from the downlines, and when the payouts become unsustainable, the owners just disappear. |
Jobyruz:Really? How much capital are we talking about? capital can't make you rich! You need to know what to do with the money. Unfortunately, most of these people lose their gratuities when they attempt to start doing business, so they have to work as consultants all over again! |
NairalandDotOrg:First of all, I'm still an employee, but I do not plan to remain one forever. If all employees here are true to themselves, 95% would admit that they don't really like what they do, and what they get paid for it, but they have to work just for survival. I recommended entrepreneurship, and as a Network Marketer, I was obviously biased in the type of entrepreneurship I recommended. If fire burns flp how does it affect me? The company makes over $2.6 billion in profits every year, out of which over 40% comes to us. How e wan take bankrupt? And I have so many friends in Network marketing who make millions every month! Now that's something to work towards. I'm talking of a honest living here, and you're talking of a public servant who owns other businesses. My mum is a very honest Perm Sec @ grade 17, and she doesn't have any of those, so where did your public servant get money from? Buhari is appointing judges for him. You mentioned investments! Why do people here keep saying " invest wisely" here. What investment? Stocks? Our capital market has lost 18% ( about 2 Trillion naira). That's some people's wise investments there. how many can invest in real estate? Forex? Good luck! Invest in someone else's business? Angel investors would tell you factually that such investments fail 9 out of 10 times. Our generation needs to start thinking! You can't give someone else your money to manage for you and really hope to make a fortune, except you're already a billionaire with a lot to invest. You need to move from poor to rich first! I don't expect my messages to appeal to everyone. if you decide to plan your own life with a limited salary forever, I wish you luck, and I respect your decision. But if you feel like you deserve more out of life, then you're welcome to try. |
While I'm totally against corporate slavery, I cannot understand how someone can work for 3 whole years for a salary of 75k, leaving the house at 4:30am everyday. There's a better way to live, but you people reject it vehemently. It's called Network Marketing!!!! The problem is that someone who has spent over half of his life in school to earn a salary of 75k - 150k after working for 2 - 4 years wants to just join a network marketing company and make it in 2 months, without taking the time to learn the ropes. I have been with flp for just a year, practicing network marketing the professonal way, and I make over 200k already, but some of you wouldn't still believe. You can contact me at brume.odufa@flp.com if you want to know how you can succeed in flp.
