Slow and Steady Wins the race

Oluwo of Iwoland, HIM Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed
Adewale Akanbi, has declared readiness to lead a
national protest against ritual killings and
corruption in the Country .

He lamented the impotency of government at
tackling ritual menace, stating that ritual killing is
prevalence but deadlier than kidnapping.
Oluwo stated protection of lives is the primary
responsibility of the government, noting such can
be credited until ritual killings is checkmated by
the present administration.

He equally vowed to declare an open protest
against corruption characterising public officials in
Nigeria.

Oluwo decry daily loss of innocent lives to ritual
killings, saying it is an aberration to culture and
highest denial of right to life.

According to a statement by the monarch’s press
secretary, Alli Ibraheem, Oluwo called for
enactment of strict penal system against human
ritualists and corrupt individual to safeguard
human and protect their lives.

“It is saddens no attention is paid by the federal
government to prevalence ritual killings pervading
our country. Thousands fall victim of ritual on
daily basis but regrettably, no one condemns
such. I’m not happy with the neglect of my outcry
on daily killings of my sons and daughters by
ritualists. These people are deadlier than
Bokoharam and kidnappers. I will lead thousands
of Nigerians with like minds on national protest
against human ritualists and corrupt individual.
“Right now, as I’m talking, evil men are
somewhere killing human for rituals in the name
of money and promotion. Few relate offering
human for sacrifice as culture, no, it is an
aberration to every culture. No culture accepts
human as sacrifice ” he said.

Oluwo added that “I’m appealing to federal
government to declare war against ritual killings.
Strict penalty like death should be meted on any
one culpable. Killers should be killed. Killing is
not a forgivable offence. If federal government
refuse, I will declare an open traditional war
against ritualists and front a national protest.

“The Afeniferes, OPCs, Agbekoyas and other pan
Yoruba cultural groups should join the revolution
against ritual killings. Many gave gone to the
journey of no return in the hands of ritual killers. It
is pathetic, sad and calls for urgent legislation.

Ritual killing is decimating our population daily.
Must we continue watching the menace? Those in
the government are not seeing what we see. Ritual
murders is prevalent on the south west, south
east. We must rise before it claim all out
promising sons and daughters.

“I want to state it clearly here that killing human
for rituals is not Yoruba culture. It is alien to our
culture. Yoruba culture is pure, clean and
attractive. Look at my dress, it is enticing,
fascinating, ostentatious and attractive. Only the
ignorance and enemies of Yoruba culture will
relate ritual killings to Yoruba culture.”

Relationship expert and adviser, Joro olumofin has shared an email he received from a depressed lady who is concerned about his son.

The woman state that his 6-year-old son might be gay as he make use of her make up kit. The woman also stated that her husband believe that beating or taking him to church for deliverance is the best option but she is yet to allow that.
She further stated that her son asked other male kids to show him their pee pee and he has been caught in school touching male students.

My husband believe beating him is the best option or taking him to church for deliverance. I have not allowed that. My husband doesn’t like him very much. He favours his little brother more than him. My son applies my makeup, applies lipstick. He asks other male kids to show him there pee pee. A teacher has caught him a few times touching male students. What do I do please? We live in Nigeria. This is frowned upon. My husband is saying he is cursed. That the curse is from my family side. I have tried and tried. I still love him no matter what. He doesn’t like voltron toys or avengers. He prefers pink and barbies. Do I give in to my husbands way or do I send my son to live with my sister in Canada?.”

ABUJA – VICE President Yemi Osinbajo is
currently meeting behind closed doors with
representatives of Governors from six geo-
political zones in the country.

The meeting which is taking place at the
Presidential Villa, Abuja has three governors who
are members of the National Food Security/
Herders/Farmers Conflict and a Deputy governor
in attendance.

Although the agenda of the meeting was not
made public, it may not be unconnected to the
controversy surrounding the plan by the Federal
Government to establish Ruga settlements for the
Fulanis.

Recall that the Presidency through the Senior
Special Assistant to the President on Media and
Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu had recently said
that the Ruga settlements across the 36 states of
the federation was aimed at bringing lasting
solutions to the farmers/herders clashes and also
to create jobs.

It was alleged that the office of the Vice
President was directly Supervising the Ruga
project but Prof. Osinbajo has through his
spokesman, Laolu Akande denied having any
knowledge of the project.


Debunking the insinuation that the Vice President
is the brain behind the Ruga settlements, Akande
said, “The National Livestock Transformation
Plan (NLTP) 2019-2028 is a programme to be
implemented in seven pilot states of Adamawa,
Benue, Kaduna, Plateau, Nasarawa, Taraba and
Zamfara (as decided by NEC in January), being
States in the frontlines of the Farmer-Herder
crises. Afterwards, six other States have indicated
readiness to also implement the plan. They are
Katsina, Kano, Kogi, Kwara, Ondo, and Edo
states.

“The plan has six pillars through which it aims to
transform the livestock production system in
Nigeria along market oriented value chain while
ensuring an atmosphere of peace and justice.

“The six key pillars include: economic
investment, conflict resolution, justice and peace,
humanitarian relief and early recovery, human
capital development and cross-cutting issues
such as gender, youth, research and information
and strategic communication.”

Those at the meeting are governors of Ebonyi,
Dave Umahi, Plateau, Simon Lalong and Kebbi,
Atiku Bagudu and the Deputy Governor of
Adamawa state, Martins Nasir.

The National Livestock Transformation Plan
approved by State governors under the National
Economic Council, NEC, is chaired by the Vice
President.

NEC had on January 17, 2019, approved the plan
based on the recommendations of a Technical
Committee of the Council chaired by Governor
Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State.

Other State Governors on the committee and
Working Group of NEC are those from Adamawa,
Kaduna, Benue, Taraba, Edo, Plateau, Oyo and
Zamfara – mostly the frontline States in the
Farmer-Herder crises.

Good evening everyone, while at school today preparing for my test. I received a call from my mum, crying that water has take over our house ( located @ Idwuowina Road, Upper Mission Extension Benin city)

After the test, I rush home to met my mum. On getting home, the water have surrounded our house and even fall our fence...

This is the second time flood is taking over my house ooh.... I don't just know what to do now, some of our properties is still inside d water!

Residents of Idwuowina road, Upper Mission extension road and adjoining streets in Benin City have cried to Edo state govt over the ravaging effects of erosion in the area. A Resident Reports that non provision of gutters has rendered roads in the area in impassable and Millions of properties has been lost due to this flooding. He Says that The road is a link from Upper mission extension to Eyean in Benin-Auchi road and further said that the permanent site of federal Psychiatric hospital is located along the road.
He therefore plead with Edo govt Godwin Obaseki to rescue them from flooding ravaging the Area.

AHEAD of today’s election of principal
officers of both legislative chambers of the
National Assembly, security operatives barred
vehicles from gaining entry into the National
Assembly Complex.

All the entry points into the complex are manned
by operatives of the Department of State Security,
DSS, police and other agencies.

The SGF entry point close to the Complex that
was partially opened was barricaded at the annex
axis of the Complex as motorists were asked to
use the main entry point.

The main entry point on Shehu Shagari road too
was barricaded as motorists were asked to
disembark and park outside.

As at the time of filling this report, the three entry
points were still barricaded.

In recognition of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s
growing political clout across the country,
engrained in his clean politics and people-
cantered policies, members of the Progressive
Governors Forum have elected the Edo State
governor as their vice chairman.

The Progressive Governors Forum comprises all
state governors of the All Progressives Congress
(APC), with the Kebbi State Governor, Abubakar
Atiku Bagudu as chairman.

Recall that Obaseki last week had a robust
meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on
the 2020 gubernatorial election in Edo State
amongst other issues.

Obaseki will now work with all APC governors
and other leaders across the country to galvanise
the party towards more electoral victories and the
timely delivery of the dividends of democracy.

Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC)
in Edo State, Barr. Anselm Ojezua, has declared
calls for Governor Godwin Obaseki to share state
funds to few politicians as embarrassing.

He insisted the chapter should rather work
towards strengthening its structures ahead of the
2020 gubernatorial elections in the state.

Ojezua made the call while addressing journalists
at Government House, Benin City after a closed-
door meeting between leaders of the party and
Governor Godwin Obaseki.

He said what members of the APC in Edo State
needed was a rethink on how to re-position the
party to continue to deliver dividends of
democracy and finalise preparations for 2020
governorship election.

Ojezua said the APC is still intact despite
agitations from a handful of its members
opposed to the governor’s refusal to share funds
meant for development of the state to them.


According to him: “This is the first time in all my
years in politics that I am seeing politicians
come out openly to complain about money and
seek reward for political supremacy.

“What you ought to hear politicians talk about in
public should be how to ensure that roads and
schools are provided for their communities and
other things that will impact their areas. I am
very embarrassed by the act
“We are carrying out a review of the last general
elections and decisions reached would soon be
made public.”

He said the meeting heard the governor’s
perspective of happenings within the state
chapter’s structure.

Obaseki said it was too early to raise issues
regarding the 2020 gubernatorial elections in the
state, noting, “It is a deliberate attempt to
distract this administration because they are
shocked by the progress of work done and the
acceptance of the governor by our people.”
He said the meeting has reassured him the
administration was on the right track and needed
deepening of reforms across different sectors of
the state’s economy.

Hall 2 car park, University of Benin, UNIBEN
campus.

The boyfriend could be seen on one knee asking his
girlfriend to be his wife. Passers-by stopped to
watch the event as they waited on her response.
The lady was left dumbfounded after her boyfriend
unleashed a wig-dropping assault on her following
her refusal.

An FCT High Court, Jabi on Thursday
refused to bar Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, a top
contender of the Speakership of the 9th House of
Representatives, from going ahead with his
ambitions.

The suit with No. M/6810/2019 was filed before
the court by way of motion on notice and was
filed by Mr Ikenga-Imo Ugochinyere and the
Action People’s Party (APP) on May 30.
Other respondents in the suit are Clerk of the
National Assembly, Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Inspector
General of Police.

Justice Charles Agbaza refused to grant the order
in an ex-parte motion with No. M/6809/2019
seeking an interim injunction restraining
Gbajabiamila from contesting for the speaker of
the 9th National Assembly and other principal
offices.

The Judge also refused to grant the fifth order
praying the court for an interim injunction
restraining the NAtional Assembly from
recognising the candidacy of Gbajabiamila for the
speakership position or swearing him in
peradventure he wins the election.

Justice Agbaza however ruled that the defendants
should be served the court processes by way of
substituted means instead of restraining
Gbajabiamila which was part of the orders sought
before the court.

The Judge also granted an order of accelerated
hearing and adjourned until June 14 for hearing in
the suit.

Meanwhile, the claimants, Ugochinyere and his
party had alleged in the suit that Gbajabiamila,
the member representing Surulere 1 Federal
Constituency of Lagos State had been convicted
and sentence to prison.

The claimant alleged that Gbajabiamila had been
convicted for the offence of involving in
dishonesty and fraud by the Supreme Court of
State of Georgia, United States of America in suit
No. S06Y0829.


Ugochinyere alleged in the suit that Gbajabiamila
gave false information in Form CF001 that he has
no criminal allegation or sentence submitted to
INEC in 2011 and 2018.

The claimant added in the suit that while the
defendant was living in the United States of
America, he was subjected to investigation by the
Investigative Panel of the State Disciplinary Board
for violation of Georgia Rules of Professional
Conduct.

Ugochinyere alleged that the offence against
Gbajabiamila arose out of the defendant
involvement in the case he has between Ms
Hadyatou Barry and her sister Yaye, who were
involved in an accident in 2001 and engaged the
service of the defendant.

The claimant alleged in the suit that the
Gbajabiamila later settled the case for the two
sisters, received a cheque of 25, 000 dollars but
failed to communicate and remit the share due to
them.
