Richy4: Sometimes I don't blame them...I blame the authorities that issue licenses....They just issue driving licenses to people that did not go to driving school or pass driving test...once you flash your money, the license is yours...they had zero driving rules..once anyone can reverse a car or accelerate, The person claims that he or she can drive
I guess we will blame the whole system then.
It's like running water contaminated by sand through two filters and the water still comes out sandy, then one or the both of those filters has(ve) failed.
Same with this issue, the authorities giving out licenses and the authorities enforcing driving rules have both failed to filter out over 90% of maniacs from our roads.
Richy4: Most can't drive within the marked line.... I usually see such horrifying driving on you tube when watching Nollywood...How can one drive in middle of white line without remorse...not that they are changing lane or something...
That is why most Nigerians are referred to as animals
Simple lane discipline, that a monkey can be trained to do by the whites, is hard for animals in the zoo.
Originalsly: Good write up......but nothing would change without 24/7 enforcement of the rules
tell dem!
tell dem again!
mtcheew, jungle nation, bunch of unserious miscreants.
can never get shhh right
look at them already joking about this on the front page, not knowing that a large percentage of accidents can be solved by ensuring enforcement of these common rules. lives could have been saved yo!!
Tazmode: Some of them didn't pay attention at driving school or got their driver's license through the window
even if u get your license though the toilet window in white mans country, it will still backfire, because enforcement will catch up with u somehow, especially if you really can't drive, like 90% of Nigerians.
That's why we need to have the right to own guns, if the state cant do it for us.
Think about how easy it would be to control this situation if the state was honest and zealous. They could have deployed the nearest helicopter available, 10-20 mins travel time and you already have a recon air craft. I don't even want to talk about drones, cause that is just pushing it, for our 10th century police force.
If you can't have rapid responses and perform critical operations, then please give us guns.
Just look at how many people are scared here, just because of probably some 5-10 thugs with guns. If half of these people here were packing small to serious heat, then lets see what will happen na
I'm just remembering those seized shotguns from customs now, meeen, I need one or two of those bad boys.
How can it work in Lagos, when the drivers are mostly crazy
Ordinary slow down of traffic and they will start forming extra lanes, turning 2 Lane roads to 4 lanes and 3 Lane roads to 6 lanes.
Sometimes I just feel like crying, so sad.
Just two days ago, while in slow moving traffic on a side street, waiting to hit the expressway, one truck guy behind me just kept blaring his horn at me.
My offense was that I was leaving a bit of space between my car and the car in front of me. Can you imagine that shh?
Isnt that beyond nonsensical
Do I have to ride up to the bumper of the car in front of me before you think I'm driving well, or alert, or what
You don't even have a fast car like a lambo, benz, or even a v6. You are driving a freaking truck and you are Horning as if once the road clears you will be off to the races.
Just so many illiterates in this country, I'm telling you.
Of course once we hit the highway, after just 5 mins of wait time that the bastard couldn't be patient for, all the cars zoomed past him, leaving him in dust.
I really wondered at the end of the day what he gained by all the incessant Horning, as I looked at his disappearing vehicle through my rear view mirror.
Billyonaire: I do not think I have time to read any write up by the unstable mind who jumps on the fence every now and then. A man should be known by a predictable content of character. To be very frank, there are people today who can give their lives to prove that Buhari is doing wonderful, and yet there are some of us who believe Buhari is the worst thing to happen to Nigeria since the civil war.
As rational humans, we need to seriously look at Nigeria in a very wholesome way. This man Buhari is following a fractured law that has killed Nigeria gradually. Buhari is a robotic arm that simply follows the laws to its mission while protecting 'his own people'.
Let us come out all of us that believe we love Nigeria to say that we can not operate 3 or more constitutions, Sharia, 1999 Constitution, Local customs and tradtions as well as Jungle Justice System are all forms of laws operable in Nigeria.lol. We must come to say that Quota System, Federalism as we used today, nepotism, tribalism have to STOP. If we do not accept to stop these vices and Unify all the laws into a single constitution, then Lord Lugard's experiment ends. There is no way to mend this everlastingly, without re-discussing our togetherness.
Every other steps taken is just a gum on the temporal forced union.
Let us stop blaming Buhari. He is just a sick robotic arm of our tomfoolery. Make we dey fool ourselves dey go. Soon, Ghana go dey deny una VISA.
Boy! This was finger licking good!!
Like...
How can you have an Emir here an Oba there, a Chief somewhere, constitutional courts by day, sharia courts by night.
We are just so divided, but like crabs in a barrel, we'd rather all die in the barrel than allow ourselves to be free.
if you really wanted to cheap it out, then you could get a cigarette lighter socket and a cheap car inverter N5,000. Then you would have to wire the cigarette lighter socket to the battery, then plug in your car inverter into the cigarette lighter socket and then plug your fan into the car inverter AC socket. Then you still have to worry about charging the battery eventually
so you're saying i can directly connect the wires of the fan to the car battery? and it will work properly? Yes! If as the other poster said, it's a 12V rechargeable fan. I had one of these before I tossed it due to faulty motor and when the battery the fan came with (12V, 7Ah) died, I used one of the spare batteries (12V 100ah) I had lying around to power it. I unscrewed the compartment where the small battery in the fan is, then I disconnected the DC wires going to the small battery and put it on my bigger spare battery.
is there any way i can charge the battery without putting it in the car? i want it to just specifically work only with the fan.
dude, to charge the battery, the bigger car battery (not the small fan battery), you would need to put it in a car, or get an AC battery charger that you can plug into the wall when there is light, or you would have to get a small solar/charge controller kit to top up the battery, which you can do without an inverter.
LIBSocials: Please make una no vex, I have a stupid question.
I have a standing fan, and I'm looking to power only the standing fan with a car battery.
It's just a basic standing fan, I'm unsure of the watts.
Is this a stupid idea?
Although I have a generator, fuel consumption is too high.
How do I go about this new quest?
Do I need a brand new battery?
How do I charge the car battery?
How safe is this act?
I really need answers as the heat for my area is like suicide.
Biko EPP me
Just hook up the car battery to your 12V fan (if rechargeable) and do not attempt to charge it (sorry, meant dont charge the small battery with a car) with the car running.
DMerciful: You can use the battery with a 12v inverter but know that car battery is not designed for deep cycle operation. If its a rechargeable fan that uses 12v battery, then you can connect d wires that go to d internal battery to ur car battery and there will be no need for inverter.....
Meen!! That would fry his small battery fast!!
I think a car alternator puts out 10amps, not sure though and those fan batteries are tinie tiny 7ah
realjoker: We should be happy that it is now rising, it shows that our brothers in the creeks have desist from vandalism of gas pipelines. And no civilized country generate Million MWH in the world and must we generate far beyond our requirements because we want to generate as much MW as civilised nation does? Our current peak demand forecast is a little below 2GW and it do drop to as low as 1.4GW.
pdozie: Nothing major? LOL. Really u can do it yourself. This is DIY forum. If you follow all the posts in here, you can pull it. But before you start, you need to size the system well, if not, you will never enjoy the solar and you will continue to spend more especially in changing batteries.
So first, calculate all the load u want to run on inverter and how many hours each will run in a day. The loads will be in Watts . E.g Fan 50W x 7 hrs; TV 80W x 6hrs; bulbs 8 x 15W x 8 (8 bulbs of 15W each to run 8 hrs) etc. Do this for all the devices. Then we get the total WH From there we calculate and determine the size of the battery that will carry the load adding efficiency factor and DOD. Then we calculate the amount of solar charges (panels) that is adequate for charge the battery bank.
If you get the figures right, then you can start mounting the panels and you will enjoy your setup.
Bros, soup wey sweet, na money killam
PDeezy, thanks for the quick rundown, but I'm already quite familiar with electricity, just not a hands on guy when it comes to using tools n shh.
I saw roof mount kit on konga for like 40k, I was like what!!
When d panel I want to buy is just 15k 50watt X 2.
I am el cheapo at the moment, I'm even using car battery sef, instead of all una deep cycle. who deep cycle epp
Actually, thing is, I have constant light for 12 hours with gen at night. I just need some el cheapo panel on the roof to get me through afternoon, so I don't put to much stress on my car batteries
I just need like an under 10k guy to come and put it when I buy it this week
Destined2win: Have you weighed the pros and cons of solar power generation?
The scale tips in favor of the pros.
In addition to solar power subsidy of some sort, I'd explore every avenue available to get us back on coal powered plants. I believe we can generate upwards of 30GW on coal alone, since our gas powered plants, which should be secondary to coal, already have an installed capacity just above 10GW.
The best things about the plan to return to coal is that, coal isn't prone to vandalism, doesn't require a pipeline for transport and is readily available.
If all I can do is subsidise solar panels for the masses, I'd consider that to be a success.
BTW, more homes on solar reduce the demand on the grid, which in turn increases the reach of available grid power.
I would see ways in which smart grids can then be installed in localities with high concentration of solar homes, to enable solar power generating homes to sell back their power to the grid.
quiverfull: I must confess, I was very sceptical, but Ambode has genuinely impressed me. He's gone about his work quietly and efficiently without the media razzmatazz of Fashola.
That's exactly what I've been thinking, without all the media hullabaloo by Fash. Although when Ambode first started, he was flirting with the media as well.
