Bro, are you also sure no street hawker walked on them to take it immediately it was delivered?

Or did you meet with the delivery man yourself at the time of delivery?

Because it is a package that should be collected in person, one is required to go to the nearest post office to pick the item up with a valid ID and your signature.

So, I collected the pacakage directly from the post office by myself.

Everyone should be careful, especially when dealing with Nigerian consulate officials - they are not above fraud, racketeering and collection of illegal admistrative charges.

This is a story of my experience with the Nigeria Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany.

I live in Germany with my family, about 1hour 30mins drive away from Frankfurt

On 03.03.21, I submitted two passport applications to the consulate - one for the renewal of my passport and a fresh one for my daughter. I paid 50 Euros in cash for their so called admin and logistics charges (I demanded for a receipt/ bank transfer/ payment with card - they said NO)

After 2 months of waiting, the consulate, via Deutsche Post sent me an empty package that was supposed to contain the two passports but it was empty.

The Deutsche post official affirmed and wrote on the paper that the package was received without content

I could not believe my eyes, immediately I drove down to the consulate in Frankfurt on 04.05.21 to get an explanation as to why nothing was in the package.

If you are familiar with the consulate in Frankfurt, you will know that they dont allow anyone inside their space.

I was able to speak with an official, he affirmed that the passport was sent and asked me what happened to it. I was like, are you asking me? Deutsche Post can not open the package and remove the contents, they can only scan the package. Moreover, I was the one that opened the package by myself and the content was empty!

He promised to check and reach back to me before the end of the week. After getting back to my town, i went to the police to file a police report and possible missing passports- just in case! After hearing my story, the policeman said the consulate might have sent an empty package!

Later on Friday, the consulate official called that the passports are not in the consulate and he will get back to me on Monday or Tuesday - marking one week after my official complaint!

I was feeling highly uncomfortable because my passport and that of my daughter can be with anyone at the moment.

On 11.5.21, I and my wife made another trip to the consulate, this time demanding to speak with the person in charge of passports.

Oh my! the boss have not been aware of the issue, this means I have been speaking to that official for over one week in vain - he has been posting me.

Immediately, we suspected that they have the passports and they have probably sold it to human traffickers due to the current passport scarcity.

We refused to leave the consulate and raised our voice in anger and told them to produce the passports immediately!!

Seeing that we were visibly angry and not going to leave, they called the German police.

About 7 policemen came to the consulate to attend to the matter and we explained what happened to them.

Unfortunately the policemen said they cannot do anything and we may have to involve a lawyer if we think that the passports have been sold to crimimals.

Lesson for people in Germany, if you can, do not let the consulate send you the passports, demand to come and get it by yourself.

This case might sound small, but consider these:

- if the passports are with criminal gangs selling children to Europe with fake passports in collaboration with our consulate officials and stealing identities - they should be busted!

- our consulate officials in Frankfurt can do better, they do not take responsibilities for their actions, they are not accountable and they are extremly rude.

- I am trying to raise awareness and get the consulate to take responsibility and produce the passports!

If you know anyone or have any hepful information on who I can reach out to, please help.

I have reached out to @abikedabiri on twitter. Link here: https://twitter.com/olumideigbiloba/status/1392137507601539072?s=20

Travel / Re: Real Reason Nigerians Can’t Get Passports Without Tears by enocholumide: 7:37am On May 12, 2021
The government wants to print the passports in Nigeria by themselves - I strongly DISAGREE with this.

The Nigerian government should never own the means of producing passport booklets alone, because they cannot do this properly without any element of corruption, rackeeting and fraud.

The Nigerian civil service should never be trusted with printing passports, instead it should be in the hands of private contractors!

If they want the printing in Nigeria, they should mandate the foreign company to have its local production in the country.

Leaving this to the Nigerian state is a disaster waiting to happen!!
Family / Re: Does My Brother's Wife Have The Right To Walk Me Out Of My Brother's House ? by enocholumide: 8:06am On Feb 17, 2021
Your brother is the first person to be blamed, followed by you.

Your brother knows his wife very well and knows your character, yet he allowed you guys to live under the same roof - thats a mistake.

Also he failed to give you the share of your so-called "combined" hustle.

And you, you worked all your youth for him, you did not think he ll get married and have children?

You should leave their home and make something for yourself instead of fighting on meat and pepper
Romance / Re: She Is Pregnant With Twins But I Honestly Don't Want To Marry Her. by enocholumide: 12:11am On Jul 07, 2019
Life... so full of surprises...

I can feel your good heart and good-will while reading your post. But the truth is that, something huge has happened (I can never call it a mistake - children are never mistakes), and you have to accept the responsibility.

Since you have said you are sure are responsible for the pregnancy, then I will write accordingly:

What you did to that girl (I will say you because I imagine that you are the older one here) is very very bad - you impregnated her ( with twins for Christ sake!) and you don’t want to marry her.

Not only that, you have the effrontery to say “I have a future I am building... blah blah”. Well done, Mr Future, I hope you can see how everything is planning out just like you have drawn it.

You might be good, but your post reeks of selfishness, pride, arrogance, and worst part - EVIL. You think you are the only one that has a future? Only you? Not the girl, not the kids? You want them to grow up without the presence of a father, without a home?!!!

I live and work in Europe with my family and I am blessed with two girls. I must confess, if any man tries this with any of my girls, I am going to shoot him on his face and/or ensure he doesn’t use the rod between his two legs again.

So, you want some advice, but you are angry when you get one that doesn’t suit you, anyways, since you asked for it :

1) You have impregnated the girl - this makes her your responsibility and the children. Thank God you are capable financially.
2) Since you are a Christian, the Bible mandates you to marry her - simple and case closed.
3) How you will deal with the marriage would be your business, either you support her, teach her or educate her is left to you. If you make a mess again, you will be the one to pack it up again - alone.

Just in case the girl and their family are telling lies or intends to take advantage of you - arrest them and charge them of extortion and intent to steal.

Who said you cannot finish with first class in Germany?

Yes you can, not that it really matters anyways, but you know how it goes. Your skills and papers speak for you in Germany.

Over two years ago, I was a silent reader on this thread, full of valuable information, kudos to the creator of this thread. You guys are changing lives.

For the new comers and the guys in the middle of their masters here, just know everything is possible. What you put in is what you get - garbage in, garbage out.

I'm here to encourage you to " risk been seen in all of your Glory ". Never give up, but ensure you put your best or don't do it at all.

Before end of studies, I had very nice job offers, processed EU blue card directly even before my final master defence.

Germany is tough, yes! But it is not necessarily tough, as long as you are tougher, but don't be rude. The Professors are very nice, but do not let them tag you "unserious", else you ll be seeing 3.3 on your grade sheet every semester - they don't care too, if you don't care about your grades.

If you are involved in group project, you can't hide behind the middle finger! They know if you are not working, they are not stupid! Don't be pushed back because of the color of your skin, lead the group and understand you are as equal as them, but don't rub it on anyone's face!

Quickly avoid the Professors that doesn't like you, Yes there are! Don't take their courses if you can avoid it! Very mean and crazy, with the way the Nigerian government dealt with you before you leave, last thing you need is a another witch or wizard in DE.

Make good impressions - the Professors profiles you from your write up, yes I know , I was an HIWI with one. If you are to write a paper, please read a lot of journals and write sound report, put in your best and don't copy!!!! All you need is that first impression - it happened to me. I was just in the studio one day and the Dean walked up to me, she asked: "Have you been a lecturer or been writing research papers before, could you join our academic commission?" -> I told you, put in your best in all you do!

Don't give your friend to copy your work, I know it sounds selfish unless he\she paid half of your block account money for you. But hey, if its going to hurt you, don't do it. Else, you ll enter the black book and the mark is good to be divided by the number of 'copiants' - I saw it happened!!. This is not Nigeria, anyone that wants to copy your work is ... need I say more?

In my school, the exams are very tough. 10 - 18 questions within 60minutes and you need over 93% (Some Profs 97%) to get the highest grade - 1.0. In short, you should be highly prepared for the exam before you register for it! Don't gamble! You can always write it when you are ready, next semester - but don't let it be too long. Ironically in my school, the further you push your exams, the lower the possibility of securing a good grade - it happened to me, I was shocked! I pushed Remote sensing and Photogrametry to the 3rd semester, I got a shock of my life! (I hate the course, but it was compulsory).

Not that your CGPA is the most important thing in life anyways - which is true. If you value relationships and social life more, go for it - we all need connections. But for some of us, we'd like to finish what we started with remarkable evidence wink

There are plenty things to say, but the post is getting rather too long. I'm sure you understand what I mean - YOU CAN BE WHATEVER YOU WANT TO BE - TAKE YOURSELF VERY SERIOUS - NO ONE CARES.

With greetings and warm regards..

mykohayz:
Hello Good People.

I need a well-grounded international student, particularly, a well experienced German resident who knows about the nature of the country's economical space candid advise, to kindly let me out of my confused state and shed light on some confronting issues that seems gloomy to me so I can set my priority right just to aid my decision making process. Here goes,

I'm a single guy of 32yrs old ..... Now to the issue;

1. My discipline bothers on management course "Business Administration" to be precise, considering the west is so inclined with science and technology, what relevance does my course of study possess in landing me a good and satisfying job o'er there after school.

2. I'm seriously bothered about my age, to even think of applying for winter next year or summer the following year due to financial constraints for now, but would be assuredly ready by late next year.
What do you think my fate would be after graduation in landing a good job and not just anyhow job bearing in mind I'd be 35-36yrs on completion ?

3. What career paths are available for a Master's degree holder in management course other than a science and techs graduates in that country, tho I have a skill as a professional painter(Interior and exterior buildings, Studio Sets etc).

4. In light of the above, if peradventure, there's a slim chance of making it through and landing a well paying job based on my status, what would you suggest I do to either improve myself or any thriving skills sellable over there that I can acquire before I move.

5. Lastly, which state would you suggest I settle in for affordability which would easily aid my progress while in school and after school.

Well for me, it's all about the job, living a comfortable life and helping my family back home, I'm sorry to have bored y'all with my long epistle, kindly take it laidat.

I look forward to diverse opinions and advice for better clarification.
Gurus in the house, kindly help do justice.

Neccki, Jigba, Honourableseyi, eke40seven, Mr big man.
Thanks.

Wow.. reading your story got me seriously emotional. It is a tough world, isn't it?

So, I will be blunt here, because considering your experience and age, you don't really have a lot of time for experiments. Please if you are below 25, just skip over this message and pretend you didn't see anything.

Mister, you don't have a lot of time playing around and experimenting things, doing tough Msc in Germany and still looking for work here and there after studies.

Travelling abroad and 'making it' is a betting game, you either make it or not. Or, you get a job that will change your destiny and direction in the popular name of 'hustle'. Consider a petroleum engineering graduate traveling 'abroad' for Msc, got bad grades and couldn't get a good job and instead decided to do the 'hustle' and do menial jobs, for how many years? A lot of his mates back home would be far better than him.

But, if you insist you are going to test the waters, I will have some few words for you. First of all, try southern Germany, that's where most of the industries are located and plenty jobs can be found.

Yes, Science and Tech. is damn important, I mean this is not a third world country. As someone suggested, you can try Business Informatics and any other stuff that deals with coding and makes you look like a geek/ nerd. But if that is almost impossible for you, try and look at the area of 'machine learning'. I am a java developer and I know that I might be almost useless in a coming couple of decades, a lot of my job would be done by 'expert' well-trained machines. One other line is the area of software testing and renewable energies.

Also, there are vocational training (after your MSc) that you might take advantage of, I heard that the German government can support you, and then you keep paying your debt back after you finish and got a job. As long as you contribute to the country's GDP (and you pay your taxes), you are welcomed infinitely!

Well, there could be more paths though, but do you really have a lot of time playing around and gambling?

I truly wish you all the best, please don't forget that: it is also allowed to risk been seen in all of your glory!

nice reply from you bro. Please I want to ask about the summer semester admission process. Please has it started. And also when are student admission office of the school send out admission letter. Well I love that your course. I think it is related to geology course too. Nice one bro.

Hi,

For geology, that means you will be focusing on GIS and other ESRI application packages.

During the previous study commision meeting, we agreed to upgrade the course contents (PO6 -> PO7) to more informatics, geo-marketing/ telematics and virtual reality.

You can check the course page or check the timetables to see the new courses for you guys (PO7) coming this winter and beyond.

If you have further questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Regards.

Wow, nice to hear from you. i will send you a pm so as to connect with you. Thanks for your kind and prompt response.

Hi Samuel,

I got your message. I will also reply here in case there are students like you in the same situation if you don't mind.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will like to ask some questions concerning the city karlsruhe. Actually there is this school i applied for at Karlsruhe ie Hochschule karlsruhe (hska) and was given admission to study geomatics at the school this winter. But unfortunately, the embassy stopped issuing appointment for student visa interview as at the time i applied for it. So am thinking of preparing for next year

In all honesty i so much like the school cos of the curriculum for the geomatics course as well as its course content which i think is second to none from several others i have seen. But i don't have sufficient information as regards the school and the course am applying for.

I will like to find out the following
*How good is the city of karlsruhe
**Is it ideal for hustling i.e student jobs, and what type of jobs are available
***How good is the school in terms of standards and company relationships as well as employability of its graduate
****I don't know your discipline, but will like to know if you might have some relevant information as regards this geomatics discipline.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Currently, I am enrolled in the course (geomatics), I am in my 3rd semester and I am also part of the department's study commission.

I will answer your questions accordingly;

How good is the city of Karlsruhe?
Karlsruhe is the second largest city in BW, very good and simple, not over the roof like Berlin or Munich. But it is a good place to start life and move on afterward. Accommodation and most things are cheap and there is sound transport system.

Is it ideal for hustling ...?
Karlsruhe is a very good city teeming with student jobs. It depends on what you want to do, how desperate you are, your taste and your skills.
There are menial jobs, and there are Hiwi jobs as well. If you are good and can speak German, you won't have a problem.
If your German is not so strong, the only bypass is if you are good with software programming.

Currently, I work at Fraunhofer IOSB as a Java Developer/ Reseach Assistant and I also work with a Prof in my department as a research assistant too. It all depends on you. There are jobs out there!

How good is the school in terms of standards....?
In all fairness, the school and the course are very good, but you as a student must do more to get the best out of the courses. There are few affiliated companies. If you are into Geodesy/ Navigation line, Prof Jaeger is a good man and he has great connections.

I don't know your discipline ...
I am into software programming and navigation technologies.
To me, I am fulfilling my dreams and I am loving it.

Regards,
Olumide

For new comers coming to Deutschland

Please ensure you delete the torrents on your torrent client and do not attempt to download files in Germany, especially torrent files.

There are heavy fines and the law is very strict here regarding copyright infringement.

One of my Mexican friends just got a fine of 2000euros, he arrived three weeks ago, not funny. Believe me.

You want a media? go and buy it or use NetFlix.

Shalom!

Anyone in Karlsruhe, should holla. Can't find any Nigerian, yet.

If you are coming to this city, please make sure you have sorted out your accommodation, if you are here and don't have a place to stay, head straight to the Palace, there is a camp for students with no accommodation up till next week or so.

Accommodation from next week will be almost impossible.

Wish you all best of luck.
