codedguy1: This might be unfair on pogba but the truth is we expect more consistently from him because of his price tag and potential.
A player like pogba would be criticized for giving 50 -60% because we expect 70 - 85% more often, but when a player like Damian gives 65% we will praise him because him giving the 65% is fair considering he probably gives a regular 40 - 50% that we are used to.
Now where a player also decides to give less against where he gives more is another matter again.

There would always be something to criticise a player in this game. Only messi and cr7 can be exempted because they have consistently proved themselves over a long time.
I just need the 3points today. CR7 still gets booed even by RM faithfuls |

SIRcumalot: so what about the CFC game and the spurs game at home this season ? I'll fully admit that he wasn't the best player in those game still, his contribution can't be overlooked.
the funny thing about this pogba overcritcism is that if he had one good game against say, the Gunners and a slew of mediocre performance against smaller side he would be more appreciated. He was not even our top 5 players against Chelsea. I missed the spurs game. I just need him to have great games against top oppositions and not form bully for Sunderland and co. |

SIRcumalot: talking about winning. city carried all three for OT. we had a few scoring chances non we fashioned ourselves we could've more if he played. Still there's no prove that Pogba can provide the juice against the big boys of the EPL. He has always been a passer-by against top oppositions. Remember he was there when City took all 3 points at Old Trafford. |

Well he has played almost all matches when fit maybe that's why you say indispensable. Me thinks it's for lack of better option. |

Pogba played in a 3-man Midfield yet we were overun in the middle of the park.....only for some of us to still attribute our subdued performance at the etihad to Pogba's absence. Didn't want to say anything about this. We will still be outplayed in the midfield with Pogba and knowing who Jose is, Carrick will be the one to sit out and not Fellaini. |

ChristineC: judging by this season the midfielders did their job. I don't see the issue you see except a retiring Michael Carrick. Yes against teams that gave us too much respect they did their jobs but when we came up against the best we were dominated. Our midfielders ended up chasing shadows and and being reactive instead of proactive. Teams like Burnley and co will always fall back and allow our midfielders play but what happened when we played against teams that came at us? |

ChristineC: who will he replace in this starting line up? The fans look forward to reliable improvement in the start team especially in goal scoring department. The money is not my problem but Instead of spending around +£50m for this 'unknown youngster' who may well disappear into mother earth after this season, I'd rather £160m for Neymar Jr. who we all are sure what to expect even if he may require some time to settle in England. Even with Neymar if we don't address the midfield issue we will still struggle a lot. We need an experienced midfielder that can sit in the middle and dictate play while Herrera and Pogba roams. |

Oasis007:

Eph12..... I'm ain't concerned whether the few world Class Players in the Team presently are consistent or not, my point is; we can't have Fellaini in the Team next Season if indeed we wanna challenge for the Title!
This is Fellaini third Year at the Club for God's sake, and can you tell anything positive he has brought to the Club?! He was bought by Moyes, played under LVG, and now under JM, still there is no sign of improvement in him!
We need Players who can make the Midfield ticks, solid and lively and Fellaini ain't the Type! We are just stuck with him at the moment! You should be concerned. Our hopes rest on them not some below average players. Kagawa10 would tell you Fellaini was instrumental to our FA cup and top four push last season. If he is sold does not mean those players that you think are world class will automatically begin to destroy teams. There's no guarantee of that. I agree he should be sold but I wouldn't point my finger at him for our misfortune this season. He has been himself but those expected to perform better has let us down. Very convenient to chant Fellaini Fellaini |

SIRcumalot: . See the calibre of guys you dey mention. Fellaini just need to keep his head and play to Jose's instruction and he has a career in this ball club. I no sure say Jose go still trust am like before. Was trying to show you that even the best lose their heads not to talk of below average players like Fellaini. He will be back in the team as soon as he serves his suspension. |

Oasis007: I get your Point, but still we do not need Fellaini anymore in the Team. How many Fellaini-likes are in Real Madrid or Barcelona Teams?! What about Bayern, PSG, even Monaco?!
United presently have too many average Players in the Team. Herrera is yet a standard Player - he's still an average Player, but far better than Fellaini.
Hence if we are talking of having average Players in the Team, majority of our present Players are average except few - De Gea, Mata, Pogba, Ibrahimovic, Mkhitaryan and maybe Martial! Lol! Fellaini is not the one preventing the purchase of world class players, is he? Whether he stays or sold does not determine if we will get the world class players befitting of our club. The world class players you mentioned have been below average this season. Fellaini's fault? If our world class players turn up 80% of our matches this season we will be around the top and won't be talking about Fellaini. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 6:57pm On Apr 28, 2017 |
Oasis007: Fellaini is really an average Player to be honest! He's indeed not a United kinda type of Players! In fact he should be the first to be offloaded in the Summer!
I would not blame him though, rather the mediocre Manager that signed him for a massive Club like Ours!
Have you ever seen Fellaini made a "wow" Pass that resulted in an Assist?! Marked off his Head and he would be useless to make any sensible impact on the Pitch! I did be surprised to see Fella make a wow pass but like Christinec said we cannot have 23 world class players. SAF made a lot of average signings that were useful at some point. Now if the world class players fail to turn up in a match who do we blame? The already obvious average players? Mourinho expected Mkhi to do his magic up front he failed woefully. Same Mourinho expected Fella to keep it tight at the back did he fail? Even Valencia couldn't make his usual runs just because of Sane? Ordinary Sane? If he jam Neymar nko? Overall the tactics was obviously negative. Mourinho got what he came for. |

SIRcumalot: I can overlook many negatives from a player like Fellaini but never the pure madness that we saw yesterday, imagine he go lose him cool for Europa final or some must win game. I don't agree with the "not Utd quality bull" too much snobbery they that statement, but you want a guy that can handle his sheet in big moments. You remember Zidane 2006? Ramos needless useless tackle that got him a red card against FCB? He messed up but it's nothing new. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 4:13pm On Apr 28, 2017 |
afrodoc2: Difficult to say, they were both poor. That has no bearing on the issue though because all players even the great Messi will have bad days. Mkhi has shown at multiple points in his career and even at this club that he has the required quality. Fellaini is not good enough for us if we intend to get back to the top. He has the 1st touch of a r.apist and the 2nd touch of a serial r.apist Lol at first and second touch. I remember our match against Chelshit. We won 2-0 but I was complaining through out about Fellaini's touch. Under any slight pressure he cannot bring the ball under control. But yesterday he offered a lot defensively. I also don't think we need Fellaini in our midfield but many times he is insulted over a match, he is not always the worst player in that very game. In fact if properly analysed he may have a better game than a couple of the others. Yesterday I could count the number of times Valencia went forward. In fact he was not a threat to City at all. Contributed to our bad game. |

weedtaker: yesterday's game was an eye sore, still happy with the point though.
fellaini try pass mhiki yesterday sha. Thank you. The last time Mkhi was as poor as this was against the same City. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 4:02pm On Apr 28, 2017 |
codedguy1: Truth be told, saying one of them played better or worse than the other makes no difference.
They were both useless on the day. Mhiki was just running around forming busy while doing absolutely nothing and even getting dispossessed every time he got the ball while fellaini allowed his mop blind him to simple passes he should have made to initiate an attack.
The slug was just gallopng all around the field as if he was being controlled by the movement of the ball only to cap it with absolute stvpudity.
I hope I answered your simple question. chai! This your reply resemble simple for your eye? We have always known Fellaini to be poor on the ball especially when it comes to threading simple attacking passes just like we don't expect Rashford to contest those up balls with Kompany and co. Fellaini defensively is an option for Mourinho and he knows that. But when you begin to blame him for passes that he is not known for is that not something else? Defensively Fellaini offered a lot yesterday but attack wise he was dead. Now Mkhi what did he offer the team yesterday? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 2:46pm On Apr 28, 2017 |
afrodoc2: I remember when I said he was neither United quality nor style some went up in arms here. He is not and has never been good enough to play for us. We can't be fielding a midfielder just because he knows how to win balls in the air, only lower level teams do that. For next season JM has to set up a formation that allows Pogba thrive. He has to decide if he wants Pogba to share the holding role with Herrera with a 10 in front of them or if he wants Pogba more advanced in a 4-3-3. That will also help decide on the players to target next season. We have to start buying players with a definite set up in mind rather than just buying haphazardly. If I may ask between Fellaini and Mkhi who played worse yesterday? |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 6:46am On Apr 28, 2017 |
elampiro: We needed to win this to show seriousness of finishing top four. We started well but soon allowed City to boss the game. Our midfielders and forwards had nothing to offer.
For Rashford it's all run and run. He doesn't know anything about contesting for long balls out of our defence, instead he hoped for experienced defenders like Kompany and Otamendi to miss a header so that that he could run free to score.
Martial offered some defensive cover but he lacked support going forward as Fellaini was all negative.
The few times Rashford tried to run behind the defence, Fellaini still couldn't spot him. The game was bigger and stronger than Mkhitaryan. Most of our players were easily shaken off the ball and lost 50-50 balls easily. We were like light weights, except for Bailly and Valencia.
Pogba should have offered some power and ball retention. With him, Fellaini and Herrera should have shown.
The result is only good for pride and unbeaten run. May with some slim chance of over taking Liverpool.
I was just complaining about how they were bullying our attackers and midfielders throughout the match. Almost every 50-50 balls were lost. And Rashford has never been the kind of striker to contest up long balls so I don't think I expected him to start yesterday. That's one reason Jose will prefer players like Ibra. We would have done better if we had midfielders that played the ball of the ground for Rash to sprint to. Mkhi made no single meaningful contribution to our attacking play. I think he lost all the balls he got. It was a repeat of his performance against City in the first leg. The only difference was that our defenders stood firm this time. Bailly has proven to be excellent especially in the absence of other solid defenders. He has been very intense for us. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 10:13pm On Apr 27, 2017 |
I will take this result if it was offered at the beginning of the match but we played really poorly. Made City look like they had Messi. Well this is same thing we complained about last match. I want to believe it's fatigue. We have our defence to thank for our recent results. |
