My father lives at Sango
I am looking to get him a car/suv soon, I am considering good ground clearance (considering the bad roads) and a good engine to withstand daily usage to and from lagos or sometimes other states when he travels.

Any suggestion please....

uuzba:

It's funny.
I lived in UK as a student. I worked in a call centre answering phone calls in addition to my studies.
Well, I was a very small boy in UK.
My salary was about £950 per month. At that time, £1 = N250
So that will make the Nigerian Equivalent N237,500 per month.
-
Shey I don land?
Well, My student 1 self contained room rent was £180 per month (then O, not now, 2021) - And this was the cheapest I could find. The next option is to go and stay under bridge.
- The school fees of the school,
- Phone and Internet bill
- Money for laundry (you can't wash clothes with your hand. Their water is ice block)
- Transportation to work daily
- Gas money for heating the freezing room and cooking my food
- Electricity bill money
- Small cash to keep aside for visa applications/extension other serious emergencies
- Small money for 1 shoe like £20 ~ £50
======
The whole £950 don finish be that.
======
I think say na magic.
1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years..... Same thing. Money finish.
==
Maybe if I go again as a professional instead of a student, we may see better job and more money. But then again, house rent now is like £700 PER MONTH O!!,
NOT PER YEAR.

See GumTree advert for house rent:
https://www.gumtree.com/flats-houses/leeds

Were you working your full hours

Students only work 20hrs a week

If as a Student you earn what you say you earn, imagine someone who isnt a student.

You earn 950 as a call center agent which is equivalent to what a Mid Level banker earn in Nigeria, thats a big achievement imo.

Being an experience worker opens more doors, you cannot talk about proper standard of living if you are a student please

Why the sudden rise in comparison between America and Nigeria..

Because things are so hard in Nigeria we are merely working for survival. That's why the fuse about salaries.

People in America just work to pay bill and feed themselves and if by the end of the day they couldn't afford to build a house or achieve much, they will have still lived a better life than a rich man in Nigeria..

You see all these Yahoo boys with flashy cars and mansions for a house, their maga abroad are mostly average citizens..

People that are poor abroad can make someone in Nigeria millionaire. That's to show you the difference between the standard of living and quality of life..

Very reasonable
God bless you abeg

Please just stop this comparison, it doesnt make any sense at all.
Travel / Re: After 7 Million Naira Savings, What Is NEXT, UK Or Canada? by ephbe(m): 5:14am On Feb 16, 2021
Depending on how ready you are to achieve your dreams, bro nothing will stop you in achieving those dreams if you ready, not even your age.

Do not let nay sayers deprive you of your joy.

Nothing beats schooling in a foreign country provided you are ready to stay there after school. You would have to work out a settlement plan, each country has its own settlement plan so that will be a different topic.

Your age has got nothing to do with you getting admission, whoever says otherwise isnt informed, I am based in the UK, I know what I am saying. What schools are after is paying the fees, fees are very expensive, the cheapest school in the UK for international students charges £12,500, you can do the maths for a 3yrs B.Sc program, also note that I said 3yrs as degree innthe UK is 3 yrs but international requirements to gaining admission isnt about the age, its about qualifications.

If you can raise the funds, you have 2yrs to work on your student visa after schooling in the UK. You will make all money spent within 1yr of working, jobs are plenty in the UK, I repeat, whoever says otherwise isnt informed.

If you can spend the money, you will reap the benefit eventually.

Oluwa18:
A little back story.
I am a 36 YO guy with no university certificate, was too wayward to finish school in FUTO then, left school in my 2nd year for a 4 year course.

Tried my hands on business years later and currently have 7M naira saved.
Now, I want to go for degree and eventually start a family .
I am considering seeking admission in a UK or Canadian school. Luckily, I have sponsors .

For a guy of my age , looking to study IT related course or physiotherapy and eventually seeking residency, would you recommend UK or Canada?
Please I need supported answers.

Thank you all.

For those of you who dont know who this man is really..... It seems you were young when this man's story started trending back in the days. He is not new to warfare both physical and metaphysical, dont get me wrong, I am not saying he is untouchable but he will sure give them a dose of what they have been dishing out.

Trouble na hin second name

A little depiction of his story is on Youtube, a movie was done to honor him titled: "Sunday Igboho*, thank me later.

If Nigerians need freedom fighters, he is one of the few that could actually lead the pack.

No one is untouchable but he is the real deal, no doubt.

Dangote isnt a tech guy.. He is a businessman, Jack Ma (Alibaba Founder) would never want to diversify into tech.
Everyone have his/her own niche

Lets strive to find ours, maybe we can be on this list someday

Not surprised

I see it coming cool

Tech is taking over

Dangote would have gone very far if he'd invested in tech...Tho Nigeria isn't promising when it comes to tech compared to advanced countries

Do you think Fury stands a chance against AJ

He is different from most heavyweights, smarter and faster and his athletism works for him

Fury doesnt box hard as most heavyweights but his quick hands works well for him too,

This makes it a fight dat could go either ways

Car Talk / Re: How To Drive In Lagos.... Agbero Edition by ephbe(m): 9:11pm On Aug 11, 2020
nymphomaniac:
I can relate to the OP’s thoughts. Drive in Lagos, drive anywhere in the world.

A popular misconception, you know nothing about driving if still believe in this.
Food for thought:
I drove 10years in Nigeria even did Uber for 2 years, I am currently in UK and trust me, driving is totally different here in the UK, you go through rigorous test just to get a license...wanna know why, because you must learn to obey traffic rules.
Just because we drive anyhow in Nigeria doesnt mean we know a thing about real driving. Nigerian driving is all about moving the car, UK driving is actually learning why you have your car on the road.
Go on youtube and search "How to pass a UK driving test" and see the trivial things they grade you upon. This is why a FULL Nigerian driving license isnt acceptable anywhere unless of course the international one which will make you pay premium insurance overseas before driving however, a FULL UK driving license can be used anywhere in the world. Have you ever wondered why so called self-acclaimed expert drivers usually takes driving classes in the UK before going for Practical driving test...oh yes I said Practical driving test because there is a Theory side to it which you have to pass before even taking the Practical.

Hello Guys,

Your advises are needed.
A family member wants to go into transportation however, he is thinking of getting the 18 Seater Danfo bus considering that demand in Lagos is high or will be
by the time everything becomes normal again since Okada and Keke have been banned on major roads.

My question:
1. Do you think, if properly managed, it can yield good returns (It will be on HP plan). He will use ehailing model with the trackers and weekly inspection process since it will be tokunboh

2. Does anyone know how much 18 seater buses deliver weekly? The model of the best version of bus would really help

3. Any idea on how much it costs to get one.

4. Is it cheaper to buy from Naija or outside the country, cotonou perhaps?

5. Please any addition will go a long way

Thanks in anticipation

Someone took time to compose a list, yet all you could do is to complain....Nigerians are the problems of Nigeria, If you have a problem with the list, put up your own comprehensive list and make it get to Front Page.

As for OP, kudos to you, weldone, you have done well.

Travel / Re: How Did You Feel The First Day You Travelled Abroad? by ephbe(m): 7:47am On Mar 04, 2020
Okay so I got to the airport, after the usual checks and all, at the final waiting area before boarding, i was hungry, checked my pocket and had only 1200 naira on me(all my remaining funds had gone into visa and ticket) I wasnt even bothered, i went straight to KFC, bought a good chicken and water, chop and felt relieved.

So we boarded finally after waiting hours at d airport, to me, e no konsign me as long as I comot Naija. I have forgotten my seat number but I sat at the side close to window, in between a woman on the left and a "sharp guy" like me on the right. So as guys, myself and the guy started conversing, we spoke about the experience of leaving Naija, he said he is on his way to Taiwan, he has to spend about 2days travelling taking about 3 flights due to funds and just like me, he wasnt even bothered, he said he wldnt mind staying 1 week in air .

The guy said he got a 2 weeks visa to Taiwan, but as a sharp guy, he will not come back.
Mind u, this particular flight was a flight to Doha, also a connecting flight to london for me. Na so me and the guy start to order wine so tey the woman beside got air sick and had to vacate her space, come remain me and the guy. He drink and chop ehnnn, anytime hostess pass, we must to chop something .

Trust me guys, the experience of a first time air travel clearly outweighs the experience the trip itself.
