IsraeliAIRFORCE: The only thing I deduced from this thread is Prof. Soyinka's deep seated hatred for Mrs Patience Jonathan (Mama Peace).
If what Mrs Jonathan did is repeated today by Mrs Aisha Buhari, nobody will take it personal nor run it in the media like the North-Southwest print and online media coalition and "allied forces".
When Mrs Aisha was alleged to have called Edo ladies "Pros.titute", Prof raised no voice then nor will he today because Mrs Aisha Buhari will never be his target.
Even with Mrs Remi Tinubu's overbearing attention in the Senate, she is still protected by the media.
Poor Goodluck Jonathan, poor south-South Minority. I watched Aisha's campaign in Edo State and she didn't mention anything of sorts. You can lie hen? |

sucess001: I assume you are a lawyer...
if you are...you are uncultured and uncouth. And you will do well not to insult your seniors.
I am 10 years at the Bar...i have defended cases at the industrial court and court of appeal on employment matters...
Except you have more years...you should sit down and learn.
For e.g do u realize that special rules come to play when an employee is being disengaged due to redundancy?
Would love to school you but your brazen display of ignorance and disrespect will not allow me.
Doesn't seem like ethics is being taught in lawschool anymore!
And er...assuming you are not a lawyer...your case is beyond hopeless! It is not all about being a SAN since the days of Lugard or not, it is about common sense, productivity and applications of rules. Besides, who told you that someone is an island of knowledge even if you have been to Hague to defend a case? You can learn from me and I can learn from you. Instead of resorting to this, you are supposed to prove me wrong about my declaration that employer has the right to disengage an employee with or without reason in that you cannot force a willing employee on an unwilling employer.
so far the terms and conditions were followed as agreed. What binds the employee and employer is a contract of service as I said earlier on: the 'exit clause' must be clearly specified in it. In the case of the writer, his/her exit clause is what nobody knows. But this is Nigeria where one month notice is the commonest exit notice: if given to the employee, he is not entitled to claim it, but if not given, he is entitled to claim his one month salary in lieu of notice. This was my stand which I made known without reservation. Argument is about logic: forget superiority complex. |

sucess001: Are you a lawyer?
If u are you need some further learning.
Else you would have known that there are different rules for the reasons for disengagement.
And where in the narration did you read that notice wasnt given? Where did I say the notice was given/not given according to the writer? I give you two conditions (when the notice is given and when not) and you are here quoting me out of context as if you are under the influence of alcohol. However, the law states that both employer and employee can exit out of their contract with or without reason provided the terms and conditions stated in their deed of contract are met: can you please show me where it was provided that employer cannot terminate a contract of service without a reason in the law of contract? Ignoramus like you are supposed to give concrete evidence when it comes to administrative issues like this and not a mere beer palour gist. |

nwamummy96: Please, i need advise from my fellow nairalanders on how to go about this. I work in a company in Lagos and just last week our MD contracted one consultant who told all of us to resign our appointment with the company.
He went ahead to tell us that he has placed an advert already on tuesday guardian that if we are still interested we should reapply and come for an interview with other applicants.
The company is owing us some months salary.
Please my fellow nairalanders my question is whether it is legally right to force all your staff to resign while you are owing them salary? First of all, do not resign. But be informed that your appointment can be terminated with or without any reason by your employer: this is backed up by law. Secondly, if the man propose to give you cheaques after the termination, please accept it: this is because he becomes a criminal immediately the cheaque bounces back. In connivance with a Police Officer, the man will be arrested and charged for criminal case. Thirdly, if the above is not possible, make sure you contact a qualified lawyer. Thanks. |

hazyfm1: Are U okay? Mr man don't blame the man you quoted because that is the best advise so far. A promisory note like cheaque will criminalize the case and it can be easily handled by a police officer instead of going through industrial court, which may consume much of the employees' time, energy and money. Get the fact right. |

sucess001: Do not resign.
They should tell you what basis you they want you to resign on.
Dont sha resign.. let them 'sack' you.
Then you ask for your entitlements.
If they don't give you, take them to the industrial court. Employer has the right to dismiss an employee with or without any reason: get your fact right. The most important thing is strict adherence to your contract of service which your employment letter contains. If the offer say one month notice must be given or payment in lieu of notice, this means that such employer will pay each employees another one month salary in addition to previously owed ones as a result of absence of notice on the part of employer. That is it. |

Should the Fight against corruption be partisan?
Are we not allowing party loyalty to becloud our reasoning and comments against our duty to National interest.
How long will we continue in this vindictive approach to governance where the next government is gearing up a battle against the previous in the name of party affiliations?
How will Mr stealing is not corruption prosecute Amaechi and Tinubu when he knows that his chop-make-I-chop administration is corruption personified? He will rather resort to AIT and NTA to spread the corruption allegations. |

Politics › Re: Nothing Stops Buhari, EFCC From Probing Tinubu And Amaechi by Ephemmm: 8:51am On Aug 10, 2015 |
barcanista: It was shocking that Alhaji Lai Muhammed, the spokesman for All Progressive Congress (APC) will come out in public to make a remark that suggests that APC leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Hon Rotimi Amaechi have no case pending with EFCC. To quote Alhaji Lai Muhammed "With what evidence will the EFCC go after Tinubu or Amaechi. What were they accused of? Why will they go after them if there are no petitions against them?". Is Lai Muhammed really asking what both men are being accused of? I think it is proper to give him a reminder of events.
EFCC's Investigation on Tinubu In September 2006, the EFCC Chairman Nuhu Ribadu made known before the Senate that then Lagos state Governor, Bola Tinubu is under corruption investigation that is/was of "International dimension". I believe that Nigerians will want to know the outcome of the EFCC investigation against BAT that was said to be of "international dimension". Rather than coming out to ask Nigerians what "Tinubu" is accused of, it will be patriotic for Lai Muhammed to charge the President and EFCC to show transparency and leadership by telling Nigerians the status of the investigation-to determine whether or not BAT has a case to answer. Ref:www.ocnus.net/artman2/publish/Africa_8/Looting_EFCC_Report_Indicts_15_Governors_26047_printer.shtml
For the record: At no time did ANY court acquit Tinubu of theft. He was only acquitted on the allegation of operating 10 foreign accounts during his 8years as Governor which violated section 7 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, Cap C15 LFN, 2004 www.vanguardngr.com/2011/12/tinubu-floors-fg/
Petition Against Amaechi Sent To EFCC, Presidency: On August 5, 2015 it was reported that a group known as The Integrity Group, sent a "well detailed petition of corruption against former governor of Rivers state, Chibuike Amaechi to President Buhari and the EFCC". Neither the Presidency nor the EFCC has denied receipt of the I.G's petition. I don't want to believe that Lai Muhammed made the statement of "no petition" against Amaechi out of ignorance. I will advice that he consult with the EFCC and the Presidency, and encourage them to work on the petition so as to establish the innocence or otherwise of the former governor. (ref: www.nairaland.com/2505582/petition-buhari-efcc-against-amaechi)
Buhari's Administration Insincerity With Anti-corruption: Recall that on July 23, Spokesman Femi Adesina made known to Nigerians that the anti-corruption probe will only start and end with the immediate past government. According to him the President won't bother to probe the far past. He further said “The far past will includes Obasanjo and others. But the president has said he will not waste time to go that far.”
However, the above statement is in sharp contrast with Buhari comment/promise when he was running for the same office of the President in 2011 under CPC. In fact, he made it categorically that he will probe from the 1999 administration. In his own words;
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/NIgerianWorldForum/conversations/topics/100615 A Challenge To President Buhari and APC: One of the biggest gaffe of the immediate past administration is the inability to bring alleged corrupt officials to justice (just like its own predecessors). The President should live up to his supposed tag as an anti-corruption czar and bring corrupt officers (whether near past, far past or present) to justice. He should revisit the EFCC investigation/report against Tinubu and others; pursue the petition against Amaechi; and bring every official that has stolen public funds to justice. In absence of sincere anti-corruption fight, he will continue to be seen as insincere and unserious.
May God Bless Us All You claim to be logical, but the naivety and primitiveness of your write up is second to none, honestly. The question begging for answer are: 1 Was Tinubu enjoying immunity throughout GEJ's administration? 2 Was he in charge of EFCC, ICPC, NA, Police etc? 3 Was he the one that appointed the Minister of Justice? 4 Was he the one controlling PDP affairs to the extent that PDP cannot prosecute him? Instead of charging the man to court of law during GEJ's administration, PDP preferred unnecessary propaganda on AIT and NTA and here you are today crying over a spoilt milk. What a shame! |

His actions as the governor of lagos state are they not enough to invite him for queries? If it was a poor fellow, his house would have been overtaken by the almighty toothless EFCC This is one of the reason why GEJ was regarded as clueless: was Tinubu enjoying immunity or holding any political office as at then? GEJ has police, SSS, NA, Navy, Mopol etc in his armoury, but the only thing he could do is to sponsor advertisement against Tinubu on AIT and NTA. What a shame! |

IGBOSON1: ^^^What are you on about!?.......Republic of SS states indeed!
I want you to list the ethnic groups that will make up this SS Republic....all because podosci says Igbos will marginalize them! Dude, if i were to ask you to mention the articles of association for ethnic groups that'll make up a Biafra or Lower Niger Republic what would be your answer? Do you actually know on what basis these ethnic groups would come together to form a nation?
So i'm to take it you're saying if Igbos leave Nigeria, you would want the Ijaw, Ibibio/Annag/Efik, Ikwerre, Ogoni, Ogba....and maybe Urhobo to form a country separate from Ndigbo? How do you intend to cajole or threaten those that may want to form a nation with Igbos? Remember your lies and divide-and-rule tactics employed pre and during the Biafra/Nigeria war cannot work today.....everyone is much more enlightened and have access to information at their finger-tips unlike before!
Now i want you to show how Igbos marginalized their neighbours in the past that warrants your assertion; i also want you to tell me if these other ethnic groups in the Niger Delta are today equal to the Hausa/Fulani and Yoruba; i also want you to tell me exactly which ethnic group in the South South you're from....this would help put things in proper perspective!
You say 'it's good to remain in Nigeria'? By this statement i assume you're ok with the status-quo as is presently obtainable?.....I assume so because i've not heard any agitation from you and your ilk for the country to be restructured to reflect how a true fiscally compliant federation should operate!
Cheers! From this historical occurrence, it is glaring that Ndigbo has been in the fore-front of oppressing the minority by hindering them from attaining their independence. The question is – why did Aguiyi-Ironsi denied Niger Deltans who were minorities as at then their independence as a President? Was it a crime for Isaac Boro who attempted to liberate the Niger Delta people from the socio-economic oppression by the then eastern regional government to take such step? |
