You want to debate?

Abi it is GEJ that you want to describe as that?
You guys keep giving yourselves headache needlessly.

WHERE did you see GEJ in my comment? Where? A guilty person runs when no one is chasing.

You better face your "strategic and smart" leader instead of looking around for who to blame for his failures.

Oh no, this is so sad. RIP to him embarassed

Our healthcare systems are in shambles. People dying in their prime when they could have lived longer. Nigeria keeps throwing its talents away.

Please do not compare Nigeria and Norway's economies as oil producing countries at all. I live in Norway and I can tell you there's a mighty difference between them. I won't touch on infrastructure or standard of living, just economic indices.
Norway with 5million people has a foreign reserve of over $60b while Nigeria with 180million people is struggling with a mere $30b.
Norway has the largest Sovereign wealth fund in the world of about $900b saved from oil alone for its future unborn generations. Nigeria has nothing.
In 2014 the Norwegian currency which is fully floated was $1=6NOK and now it's 8.65NOK. While Nigeria would have been close to 1000naira for $1 if fully floated.
Compare Oranges with Oranges: Nigeria, Angola, Venezuela. Thanks to Buhari coming, Nigeria is the best performing economy among them.
If you had read the comments properly, you would have realized what I and the guy I quoted were saying, is basically that we can't compare Nigeria to Norway because it has a far smaller population.

If people like, they should continue comparing Nigeria to Venezuela, by the time inflation reaches 100%, they will realize the consequence of doing so.

lol... That's true. Norway is also an oil-producing country... One of the best we have around but we are too quickly to pull the "population card."
Norway is bliss to live in, great standard of living too, I doubt if the oil price crash had much impact on them. But as you rightly pointed out, in terms of population, it's such a small country.
PoliticsRe: Reasons Buhari Cleared SGF Lawal In Grass-Cutting Contract Scandal In January by ephi123(f): 10:23am On Apr 22, 2017
dukie25:
Have been doing research to find reasons Buhari cleared SGF in January but can't.
Reprinted below is premiumtimes story of the news and Buhari's actual letter to the Senate absolving Babachir of any blame.

Mr. Buhari, in his letter read by Senate President Bukola Saraki on Tuesday, defended Mr. Lawal and gave reasons he could not act as demanded by the Senate.

The Senate had in December last year asked President Muhammadu Buhari to suspend Mr. Lawal and ensure his prosecution over alleged breach of Nigerian laws in handling contracts awarded by the Presidential Initiative for the North East (PINE).

The Senate’s call followed the interim report of its ad-hoc committee on “mounting humanitarian crisis in the North East” led by Shehu Sani which indicted Mr. Lawal for receiving N200 million contract to clear “invasive plant species” in Yobe State through a company, Rholavision Nigeria Limited.

The Senate said Mr. Lawal remained a director of the company till September 2016, over a year after his appointment, in breach of Nigeria’s code of conduct for public officials as enshrined in the 1999 constitution.
So this man still remained in the corridors of power for one full year despite breaching the code of conduct. Interesting.

Expect more surprises from President Buhari, a very smart and strategic leader.

Haters and wailers are forced to leave issues as he systematically tackles them.

Nigerians now know that the patron of the looters and hero of the wailers, GEJ was a disaster that all-but-wrecked this country.

From that sorry state, Nigeria is rising.

I think you are getting it wrong. Those who compared Nigeria to Venezuela are doing a comparison of economic failure... That Nigeria is following same formula they did that made their economy to collapse... Only difference is that we're not a socialist state. Venezuela, right now, is in trouble... Down to their last reserve, inflation is super high, crime rate way off the roof, people queuing for food and looting stores, connected citizens flying out of the country...
They are comparing to Venezuela because it is an oil-producing nation, but there are many other oil-producing nations managing their economies as best as they can so why do we have to compare ourselves to the worst? Should our standards be that low?

I read just a few days ago that their inflation was 700%, is that the kind of country to use as a yardstick? I think not.

Most of the people that express these types of sentiments are incompetent people who depend on their tribal affiliations to make headway in life.

So when they see someone clearly favouring his tribe over competence they don't condemn it because they know that they themselves are beneficiaries of the same at their own level.

Its been 2 yrs and we have slid down the rankings of all major indices of human development since Buhari came in and someone is screaming he should stay till 2023 despite public knowledge that the man is battling ill health. He has not been able to preside over FEC meeting two weeks in a row. His cabal made up of his kinsmen are running the country aground while the poor man is battling to regain his health. Shame on your type!
Exactly. I still don't understand why people keep defending nonsense. Indices are objective ways of measuring performance and Nigeria has significantly worsened on major fronts in the last 2 years. The standard of living has become even more substandard.

It's a really bad thing when suffering becomes so normal and people then start defending it because they know nothing else.

From your diction I know your Use of English is above average and should know what "albeit" means when used to qualify a word.

I may not know all "good" policies made by this administration, but the few that made headlines or are implemented are commendable.
1) normalization of BSc & HND status
2) whistle blower act
3) implementation of TSA & BVN
4) new National health policy
Etc

@bolded belies the tone of your comments.
1) normalization of BSc & HND status
--> Has this in any way reduced the unemployment rate or improved our standard of education? No.

2) whistle blower act
--> Has there been any prosecution? Do Nigerians know WHO owns the supposed money? Why has the whole process of disclosure been shrouded in secrecy? Why does the VP have to set up a committee, what happened to the agencies responsible for such? Has the fund been channeled towards any national development initiative? No.

3) implementation of TSA & BVN
--> TSA was introduced by the previous government. BVN was launched February 2014

4) new National health policy
So, why is the president constantly heading to London for medical care? Is the Nigerian healthcare not good enough? Why are our medical officers constantly on strike? Why are children in the North being ravaged by meningitis and the govt couldn't provide the antidote on time? Is this all a 'healthy' state of affairs?

The biggest question of all is why is the common man still experiencing so much hardship? What benefit have they gained from this government in the last 2 years?

Unfortunately, Nigeria is far from being a society where there is equal treatment for all citizens.

My people have a saying "when you hate someone, you can't see or hear anything good about that person no matter what"

PMB was accused of coming to Islamize Nigeria but most of the people he appointed even from the north are Christians, not even Hausa or fulani.

Yes, merit is a good thing based on the criteria used.
In the case of the NIA & SFG, it is the "most senior permanent secretary" that takes over in Acting capacity, no appointments yet.

In as much as I want a better Nigeria, I don't have to be negative or pessimistic about everything the present Administration does just because I don't like the person of the President.
Mister, I asked a simple question - what are the good policies of the government and how have they benefited the common man?
You chose not to answer but preached a sermon instead, that answers the question I guess, no good policy to point to.

I have no business with the person of the president, but I very much do have a business with his policies or lack of them. I don't believe in sentiments, it's a case of let the facts, figures and reality speak for themselves. Eod.

See people comparing Nigeria to Venezuela to console themselves cheesy

I laugh in Spanish. But your leaders travel to UK and US for medical healthcare, why can't they go to Venezuela since that is our comparable yardstick now? Jokers. Not only Venezuela, it's Colombia.

In any case, the IMF does not determine what we do, let the CBN take the best course of action. Eod.

@bolded is rather irrational, if his appointments is what offends you, why transfer the hate to his policies, albeit good?
Kindly list the "good" policies, and how they have benefited the common man.

By the way, do you realize that appointments have a bearing on policies? People make and implement policies so therefore if you have the wrong people in place, you can't succeed with the task at hand.

Ephi....u hate buhari with a passion, I have not seen one good comment on buhari from u ever, haba now, this ur hate is looking more like a personal issue bw u n him
You are the only one I will bother replying on this thread, let the other buhari slaves continue quoting me up and down.

If you realise the significant progress other countries are making as we speak and compare it to how backward buhari has taken Nigeria just because he refuses to make appointments based on merit, that is enough to hate his policies. It's like his supporters do not mind a country not only being stagnant but being retrogressive.

- Do Nigerians have access to quality healthcare? No. But this man flies to London at the drop of a hat, and that doesn't make you angry? Do you know the amount budgeted for Aso Rock clinic?
- Do Nigerians have security of life and properties? No. With the rate police has been killing innocent people and herdsmen attacking those of a different belief.
- Do Nigerians even have jobs? No. Yet unemployment is growing in leaps and bounds.
- Ask yourself, HOW has buhari moved the country FORWARD since almost 2 years now.
That's just a short list by the way of what's wrong in this country. But because people are now so used to suffering, it's become a normal thing to time. Sad situation.

So, yes whether people accept it or not, his policies and way of ruling are archaic and antiquated, and his economic policies a complete failure. I can't support a bigot pulling my country back every passing day. So his illiterate supporters here should face front and stop quoting me. It's their call to embrace stagnancy. Eod.
