Ojuntana:
Zombies are always quick to look for bad examples when the failure of their god is highlighted
What do you say of Saudi and the UAE where the war is really happening and petrol price has not moved an inch?
Even the US you are talking of, petrol price moved by just 30 cents, while Nigeria moved by N400.
Same in China, petrol price has remained relatively stable and hardly moved
You guys are always ready to defend failure as long as the man highlighting the failure is Obi and the man failing is your political god
This is shameful to say the least
Releasing strategic crude reserve is to cushion oil price. There is strategic petroleum reserve which is the over 400m barrels you referenced and then there is the strategic commercial inventory which is over 500m reserves. So cumulatively, the US alone has almost 1 billion in petroleum reserve. China actually has 1.5bn reserve while India having 250m and Russia about 124m
So you see, apart from failing countries like Nigeria, every serious country have reserves.
Writing in bold fonts does not make whatever you're writing sound smarter!
Thank God you mentioned gas is up 30c in the US, even though your figure is wrong. Gas has increased by 50–65c since the war started. Convert the 400 naira increase in Nigeria to cents and let's see what's up.

Also gas price has increased in China, India, UAE that you mentioned. Check your figures before coming to lie here. Only in Saudi is the price stabled because it is being subsidized by Aramco. Last I checked, Nigeria has stop fuel subsidy.

If the USA and GCC's 400m barrels of SPR can't tame price, tell me what can. If that Iran war doesn't stop, we shall see what impact they will have in the next 1-4 months. I even thought you would be smart enough to come in through the subsidy angle... but alas.

20% of the world's daily supply is gone and you are coming here to talk about SPR. The worst we've ever witnessed in history is a 5m barrels daily shock; price wasn't tamed then. Is it now that we have a 20m shortage that it will be tamed? You probably know better than Trump who has accepted the higher gas price.

BTW, Nigeria has a SPR, with plans created in 2025 by the NMDPRA to boost it, somewhat modeled after the US system. Our current reserve will last about 30 days. Can you stop the lies already? Linus!

Choke on this bold text too.

Jomonix:
What Obi is saying is that we should store petroleum products strategically so during period of scarcity the stored products can be released. This way the price fluctuation can be better managed. I see nothing wrong in that. He is saying the truth. Let us learn to accept the truth because it is constant no matter who is saying it.
The oil or petroleum product that is a major source of revenue in this nation is what you want to store so much that will cushion the effect of this war?

How many barrels or liters you wan reserve?

How many days will it last?

Shey na from our low output na him we wan dey reserve?

If we reserve, the government release it into the supply chain, no be the same price the FG go sell to Dangote? Abi you are talking of subsidy?

With regards what the GCC and US are doing with their SPR; daily crude supply globally is 100m barrels per day. With the situation at the strait of Hormoz, 20m is cut out. The GCC and US plan to release 400m barrels from their SPR to support global supply; that will meet demand and crash price. But that can only helpul for 20 days alone. Just 20 days.

So what then can Nigeria viably do with her "reserve" to cushion this price hike?

BTW, there's no scarcity in Nigeria. Dangote is steadily meeting our demand. Just that global oil price has increased.

There's no where on earth where strategic reserve is a solution to price hike caused by global conflict long term; it's always a short term solution. During the Iraqi war, the supply crunch (about 1m barrels per day was out) wasn't even terrible like this one and price hiked like crazy for a long time.
PoliticsRe: Lack Of Planning Behind Nigeria’s Fuel Price Hikes — Peter Obi by EponObi(f):
This guy will just open mouth anyhow to say rubbish. He never says anything reasonable about our issues. Always vague without substance.

He knows nothing. Nothing about this country. Nothing about geopolitics.

How does a nation prepares for external shock from a war in far away Iran?

The hike in gas and diesel in the US is because of lack of planning too?

This same war is causing the price of urea (fertilizer) to spike all over the world, na lack of planning too?

For someone who advertises himself as a market-to-market businessman, he knows nothing about supply and demand.

LNG spiking over 90% in Europe since the war started, na lack of planning too?

If you ask him how he would have planned if he was president, na rubbish him go talk too.

This dude is nauseating. Tueh!

Obi concluded his statement with a call for structural reforms, saying, “The old maxim remains true: when a country fails to plan, it has already planned to fail,” emphasising the need for long-term planning to insulate the country from global shocks and protect the economy from sudden price hikes.
How can Nigeria insulate herself from global shocks like this when no be say na we dey set price of oil or control price of oil? Maybe we should exit OPEC and start drinking our oil. Mtchew!

Again, your Obi is nauseating.

Even the USA with the largest government owned Strategic Petroleum Reserve, currently at 413m barrels capacity is greatly affected by the global oil hike.

Below is Trump himself saying he's fine with oil prices. The USA knows they have no control over the price and the only solution is for the Iran war to end one way or another. Which implies they have no plan to counter the higher prices of gas and diesel their citizens are currently experiencing.

Again, you Obi is nauseating and isn't fit to be captain of a primary school class.

20% of daily global supply is blocked fiam like that and you are talking of plan to cushion the effect. Lmaoooo. Pillow ni! If you don't getat ara here!

Sir. The reason why the senators are agitated is because they thought things will be the same as of Venezuela, but reality said otherwise, however, USA and Israel are highly prepared for this scenario, Israel & USA won't go tho War if they haven't thought of a way to win it from the beginning, we are watching a seasonal film, we have watched season 1, we are waiting for the release of season 2
Like they thought about how to win in Afghanistan, Vietnam, and Iraq abi?

In Afghanistan, the defeat was so crazy they ran away leaving behimd military gadgets and weapons worth billions of dollars, that the Taliban later took to wreak more havoc. That was a war they fought for 20 years with more than $2.3 trillion, against a set of goat herders. Lmaoooo.

But have you forgotten that the IRRG was imposed on the people 47 years ago and lots of their political structures were chaged. And Iranians are happy and supported Trump for coming to their rescue. How can a government kill and maim people for not wearing hijab and some other minor things.
You are talking about the Iranian revolution of 1979. A regime change forced through by the Iranian people. It was internal politics. That was the people choosing what they want. The people brought about the Islamic Regime. That is different from what is happening now. Now, we have the US and Israel attempting to change the leadership of another country.

How is Trump coming to their rescue? By killing 180+ schoolgirls are by claiming Iranians are menacing? Or is it like he was coming to help Christians in Nigeria? The earlier you wake up by the fact that the orange man does give a S about Iranians the better.

If the Iranians are not happy with this regime, they should drive a revolution like in 1979.

Yes, I agree. The regime is authoritarian and run a Sharia law. But that's their problem and doesn't justify US or Israel attacking them. BTW, I wonder why they aren't preaching democracy to North Korea and China; maybe it is by force for every nation on earth to run democracy and the American belief systems. If America is truly about justice, they should prove it by prosecuting offenders in the Epstein file.

Those doing jihad and them running a crusade of democracy, they aren't different. They both enforce their belief systems through blood and pain.

Strait of Hormuz threat is a piece of cake because as soon as Iranian missiles are depleted it'll naturally br safe for merchant ships. And Iranian missiles threat depletion is a matter of days.

America must get those fissile materials. It's also a matter of when not if. You don't seem to get it. Iranian strategy of using missile to threaten merchant ships lasts as long as they still have the capability to fire them. A country that has lost command of its airspace is a sitting duck. One by one all its missile depot and launchers will be decimated.

Iran can only hurt American or Israel if they occupy their country with troops on the ground and they can only do it through assymetric warfare.

The movie just started. What resistance does Iran have debar random firing of missiles?
See how Trump dey shame for your ignorance.

See oil price chart lately - for a nice demo on writing with facts, Oil prices are going down!
How much was oil before the war started? $60+

Why did oil price crash from $118 to $80+? The US and allies announced they will release 400 million barrels of oil from their strategic reserve.

Your oil chart didn't disprove anything I wrote. If you trade the financial market, you'd know that price doesn't go in a straight line. When/if oil reaches $100 again, I will quote you.

The oil price that is going down BTW 👇

Please, stop deceiving yourself. They are ahead of schedule, they have a plan, and they are executing it with wonderful precision, so all these things you are saying are NOISE to the ears. Were you aware when they kidnapped the President of Venezuela?
Where you aware when they dealt with the Iran supreme leader? So everything is going according to plan. Ordinary Strait of Hormuz wey Iran block, the US is afraid to go and unblock it. If they have the means, make dem invade Iran and seize their nuclear material now. Regime change abi? Oya na, let them show working.

Foreign AffairsRe: US Senators Slam Iran War After Classified Briefing by EponObi(f):
You don't even need any briefing to know that the USA went to the war without any plan.

As an outsider, if you have sense, you can see this.

The only plan they had was to use the same system they executed in Venezuela - take out Khamenei, and think the entire regime will collapse and fall in line or run away with their tails between their legs. Dey play!

Mind you, these two nations have supreme intelligence agencies like CIA, Mossad and have been gathering and sharing intelligence for decades, with billions of dollars in yearly funding.

Anyone with basic knowledge of geopolitics knows that the Iranian government is decentralized - you can't break them like Libya or Venezuela. It didn't even feel like the US assassinated their supreme leader. Counter assaults went into overdrive immediately without him.

Now the US has replaced him with a die-hard son who is not diplomatic like his father. He has canceled all standing nuclear weapons agreements already. Everything. He has declared Iran has a fundamental right to nuclear weapons and they going to get them. Decades of agreements torn to pieces in a day.

People don't even know the late Ali Khamenei issued a fattwa against making a nuclear weapon. Iran would have made it a long time ago - they have the technology. He also capped the range of their missiles to 2000 km, when their scientists insisted they have the capability of going farther. This is the same person Trump lied wanted to destroy America. The Islamic regime existed only to protect the sovereignty of Iran against the West and most especially Israel.

For those fan of Israel and Trump on this forum who thinks the US will win this war, you are sleeping. I don't think you can find a nation with citizens who are hardcore nationalists like Iran. Those guys would rather die than allow Trump dopple the regime or impose a leader on them.

And if the US and Israel won't launch ground invasion, they are only wasting their time. Nothing else will make regime change happen. If they invade, it will end in absolute disgrace for them.

Kill Mojtaba Khamenei today, there are more people waiting in line to replace him.

Trump and Netanyahu are going to learn. They finally met a match to their craze. Don't play!
