Politics / Re: Is Aba A Reflection Of What Biafra Would Have Been? by Ericology(m): 1:21pm On Oct 02, 2010
Justcash:

It is quite unfortunate that someone that claims to be educated is judging a whole region based on a disturbing situation in a local government of a state.
At least Biafra was never allowed to exist. Why don't you ask why Sokoto, Kano, Lagos, Ibadan, other western states are still very backwards  despite the fact that they were homes to the supposed victors, and were never damaged like the East?
Have you ever seen a nation borne out of struggle for freedom in a retrogressive state? Biafrans would have had a bond sealed with blood, because they fought together to make the Biafran nation a reality. When there is such a bond, there is a spirit of unity. With the Unity that could have existed, coupled with the positive business minded attitude of Easterners and the abundant natural resources that would have been at Biafrans disposal, you can never say that Biafra would have been as backwards as Nigeria. Biafra would have been progressive. God blessed Biafra in such a way that the areas that were even very conscious of Land and are less Entreprenerial had Oil in abundance. Biafra would have been a beauty to behold. The fact that it would have been led by an educated, pro-developmental and passionate dictator, Odumegwu Ojukwu (Like Lee Kuan yew), would have been a plus (As far as I am concerned, democracy is a neo-colonial tool in Africa). Biafra would have had Genuine heroes, which is lacking in Nigeria.
Have you ever asked yourself why Igbo Youths are kidnapping? When you deprive a youth that has the urge to make money positively, and you leave him/her to slip gradually into a state of helplessness, what do you expect? Of course the youth will seek for any available way to survive. When there are no jobs, and youths are left to scrape out their own means of livelihood, without any help from a senseless government that had been dominated by the Hausas and Yorubas for a long time, what do you expect?
For real, the ranting and mockery of most Nigerians from other parts of Nigeria is a vindication of the statement of the U.S that Nigeria will split. I really hope it comes to reality, then we will know if Biafra will be retrogressive.
I use my nature to judge the nature of Igbo youths. I know that if I did not get a means to build my business up due to lack of employment or gross neglect from the government, and if I had become helpless, I would have looked for a way to make a living whether dangerously or otherwise. If Igbo youths are given the opportunity to build their businesses, there would have been abundance of jobs, and crime would be less. Even the Igbos that have businesses go through hell because of lack of infrastructures, which the federal government (dominated by Hausas and Yorubas) are directly responsible for. Look at the gross backwardness of Onitsha, Aba and Nnewi. Before Jonathan (Who atleast recognised the importance of Nnewi), No Nigerian leader deemed it fit to look into the employment generation potentials of those places. A simple loan scheme and provision of basic infrastructures would have created more businesses and employments in those places. Instead, all the government was concerned about was oil, oil and oil. Little wonder why instead of utilising the commercial potential of Places like Onitsha, the government is busy giving license to Petroleum firms to search Anambra lands for Oil. Nonsense!!!
Do you all ever ask why Igbos troop to Lagos and Abuja? You think it is because the places are beautiful? You must be insane if you think that way. The Igbos in those places wants to get closer to the government and basic infrastructures that aids businesses. If you notice, Igbos dominate in Asia and the United states. It is just for stability and business. Igbos troop out of Igbo lands in search of competitive advantage in business. They happen to go to those places and integrate effectively in those societies to make money. That is exactly why Igbos travel to the least expected places in the world, including Iraq.
Biafra would have been stable, and rich and I know that I would never have built my business in Asia.
Those of you talking crap about Igbos know nothing about the Igbos. It is either you Igbo critics are envious, or you simply are dying of ignorance.
Take out basic infrastructures and government support from China, and see how fast China will become a crime den. That is exactly what the federal government dominated by the Hausas and Yorubas has deprived  the Commercial conscious east.
The present Politicians that are in the East e.g Orji Uzor Kalu, Ohakim, Theodore Orji, Achike udenwa etc were all imposed on the East. The real men refused to compromise.
As Gowon said, Nigeria would have been nothing without the East.

Yeah my brother, u are right, Imagine about 5 or 6 northern states have international Airports while not a Single International Airport in the whole of South East, and u all think we are happy flying down to Lagos before taking the danger trip down to the East, i wlod love to leave Rome st8th to Enugu or Owerri

These are not  true reflection of igbo leadership politically. With due respect to thier age, wisdom and achievement /attainment ,one should have expected better from these folks, unfortunately they have become a disappointment of some sorts. It will encourage you to know that most of these people are politically expired. Most are from Anambra state where PDP has lost it.U dont expect Ohakim to keep mum and allow his state to be an accomplice to the 'unruly' political activities of these losers who do not know when to quit the stage when ovation is loudest.Ekwueme and Simeon Okeke  by now should be sitting down at their age and be honorably consulted for their valued opinion and not to be involved in ignominies and be insulted by their son's age mate. The political dynamics now does not favor south east presidency and not until 2023 can the Igbos be clearly positioned to effortlessly take it. This the bitter truth ,and all these people may not be around then.Soludo for one will not rule nigeria. The would be igbo president in 2023 is yet unknown.Ohakim did the right thing. If these were true eastern patriots with no underpinning motives, they could have held the event in Enugu or Awka. The most reasonable thing to do by any avowed easterner is to support JEG , after-all he is ''an igbo man'' affected by mild geographical dislocation, his name ,stature, accent etal betrays him[emphasis mine].

ohakim is a tyrant in the south east, he molested a writer in his office stripping him and beating him with a cane in his office,,asjed his aides to beat up a cleric and now this, well i am from owerri and i know my people will never put him back to power, i think this is agabso opportunity to win in 2011, that man won the elections in 2007 under apga platform, everbody in owerri knows this. th erace was btw ararume and agbaso and the latter won. this ohakim is a bad case study of election rigging.n one knew ohakim until he became governor.

Odo diri gi, i was surprised when i heard Ohakim has won the election, i did nt know him, we saw no posters,, he never campaigned, he was just forced on us to spite Ararume and again, to make sure someone from the tiny Okigwe zone wins the election

We really have an Arse as a president. Where is the proof, just turns up and makes silly allegations. I have said it before and I will not mince words Goodluck cannot lead Nigeria, he is just not able.

I think people are looking at this issue as an isolated incident, it is not. The country really has big problems, far beyond goodluck, who in my opinion does not represent change. So let us stop kidding ourselves and start having meaning conversations on how to choose an alternative to pdp

Yes my brother, i really wish this elections wld be shifted till may next year so that we all can be able to understand what a dumb president Jonathan wld make,

In the 1960s Eastern Nigeria was considered as one of the fastest growing economies in the world and Aba was the focus. Most of indigenous manufacturing plants were located there.
In other to subjugate the reviving eastern economy after the war by discouraging local patronage; items produced in Aba were labelled as 'Aba made' even by those who produced nothing and were entirely dependent on oil revenue being managed by Northern officers. You need to visit Aba and see the ingenuity of the people there. People who were able to refine Jet A1 to fly improvised fighter bombers and built armored personnel carriers to withstand an army with international backing of super powers for three years.
With some of these achievements, I believe that Baifra would have been competing favourably with the likes of South Korea and Singapore and not what we are experiencing today, sentiments apart.

I dont want to argue for or against this topic cuz i hate fighting over what i can hardly understand, i ve had many reasons to believe and disbelieve in juju or even God atimes but certain things that happened b4 my eyes have made me keep quiet whenever such issues arise,
For those who dont believe i have 3 questions, during Buhari regimes when i was abt 10yrs,,,,armed robbers were shot in their village squares and i witnessed one who was shot several times without the bullets penetrating until the commander rushed into the nearby farm, plucked a fresh palm frond,, tied on the tip of the gun barrel, muttered some rubbish hit the barrel on the ground and released a shot which tore thru the robbers heart and killed him,,,, so,,
, what really happened? why didnt the other bullets penetrate?, dont tell me they were rubber bullets cuz we little kids picked them after and played with them,
2, One man back in the village had a plantation of fruits near our elementary school and we always finished the fruits b4 he cld get them, then we suddenly noticed that every pupil who went in there to steal came out with rashes on his body including me lol  but it never happened to any member of his family, this made us to stay clear .lol--
3, Our traditional ruler died yrs back during the peak of raining reason and to bury him,,, they gathered the so called rain makers and rain stoppers, lol to our greatest surprise there were heavy rains everywhere including our town but the sun was shining only on his few thousand sq miles  village, lol, all these are not heresay, i witnessed them so pls guys,,, enlighten me, i am not saying they were juju works but explain pls, thanks

buzugee:

nigerian police officers morph into aggression. even a saint if given the job of a policeman in nigeria will become angry and aggressive after a week on the job. nigerians are a very lawless and aggressive bunch. the only way to control them is through aggression. even if you came into the job without aggression you will eventually develop aggression in a short time. people cannot even queue for bus. a simple task like that is beyond the comprehension of the average naija man. you see them pushing and beating each other up to get into molue. when you go to london, the first thing that strikes you is how the people queue up to get into the bus. they do not have to be prompted by the police neither. it is just a natural instinct to be orderly. and in london who are the people who try to jump the queues on the buses in south london ? nigerians.

not tryna be funny but if i do decide to become a police officer in nigeria, apart from my gun, i will also carry an arsenal of kobokos. folks will be getting whipped left right and center by me for their stupidity. if i catch you dumping your litter on the street. thats 12 lashes. if i catch you not queuing for bus, that is 24 lashes.
if i catch you being disorderly and belligerent, thats 6 lashes.

remember how orderly and clean nigeria was when idiagbon was in power ? thats because his officers controlled with aggression. that is the only language nigerians know.

Dont u think they way they treat people make them try to disobey the law? when a police man stops me here, i wld gladly give him all he asked for in peace knowing that he wld do 2 things, 1, hand them back if everything is ok and say goodbye to me, 2, make me pay the fine for wateva rule i contravened according to the law

I hate all these nothing good happens in Nigeria mentality -

Honestly -

Go to Britain or America and speak to a policeman like you would in Nigeria and see if you wont get the beating of your life.

All these goons talking are the same ones that will pee in their trousers if a common police car is following their car abroad- but when stopped by a policeman in Nigeria - the first thing they say is - do you know who i am, thats if they even stop anyway.

Labi, i love nigeria just as you do but no amount of ur harassment cld change the fact that a lot of things are not going on well here, as for peeing in ur trousers when a police car shows behind u, lol, only someone who has something to hide wld be scared of a police car trailing behind him here in europe, but in Nigeria,, even if u are as clean as a snow,, u wld still be scared of those aggresives folks trailing u, lol
If i may ask u,, how many DSP have been arrested or jailed for supplying arms to criminals in the UK
How many of them have shot and killed innocent drivers for 20 pounds bribe?
How many of them have beaten a bus driver in the presence hundreds of british citizens cuz he didnt settle?
How many UK policemen can kill u and drop a pistol on ur chest while making away with ur money?
How many UK policemen dump u in detention for as many days as he wants without informing a judge, ?? ABEG,, this ur patriotism don dey smell, I love Nigeria and wld want it to be a better place but drawing comparison with the west is like comparing the naija delta with the sahara desert, i rest my case

If you hate anything Nigerian and love everything foreign - not all of us think like that. Dont tell me the story i know. An average policeman is aggressive- no matter what you want to say.

We see them daily on the streets here - ten policemen in their bus will swoop on the scene for a mere traffic violation - come on - dont paint what we know is the truth. Nonsense.

Policemen in the west are not aggressive my foot.

Labiyemi, u r just spitting nonsense, policemen in the western world are never aggressive unless there is an act of disobedience from who's being accosted, however there are isolated cases of such but they rarely happen,   Here in the west a policeman stops you and demands for ur papers---u hand them over to him,, he goes through them,,, they are ok,----  THATS THE END OF THE STORY UNLESS U HAVE AN ALERT ON YOUR DOCUMENTS---  pls dont compare heaven and hell cuz of patriotism
