EducationRe: This Could Have Brought Us Together But Ended Up Breaking Us The More. by Eriokanmi:
Sonnobax15:
Good day my fellow Nairalanders......Hope y'all are having a nice day + flexing on the harmattan season that's already gotten it's aroma allover the place?

So, recently,I was added to my primary school WhatsApp group......It's been over 20 years since we left primary school and it was indeed a good time to have a flashback of the memories of how and who we used to be back then as kids, under the same roof of the same classroom as classmates....

The reason for the reunion came about as a result of the fact that one of our classmates was about getting married....It was indeed a fun-filled moment as we were already vibing and reminiscing on our past cheesy

Suddenly,I began to notice how some guys were showcasing and boasting about how they have made it in life.....Some were even posting pictures of their expensive cars and beautiful houses....I was really happy for them,at least for seeing those whom I grew up with making it to the top...It actually gave me joy as I hoped to make it like them someday too cheesy

But then again, what really killed my joy was when one of them started to call out the names of those who used to take from the first to third positions in class ...The annoying part was that he sent it via voice note and was like mocking us about not being successful yet like those of them who were considered as the dullards back then in school.....I felt really pissed off😡. The fun was brutally murdered instantly and I began to notice how many people started to exit the group one after the other 😔. I wasn't left out cuz I also made sure I dusted my shoes and left too before they would post the pictures of me riding my keke undecided ...what was supposed to bring us together only ended up disintegrating us further and made us felt like we were losers undecided. As a matter of fact, I've vowed never to be a member of any WhatsApp group from henceforth angry. Cuz it seems these guys are only out to add more pains to people's depression angry

Have anyone experienced this kind of scenario before?
Guy, there's time for everything. Your own time will definitely come. There was someone like that who used to work at ITF. He's still there sef and he's one of the regional ogas now, my sec chool mate. They used to see illegal money in that place and same applies to most of the so-called MDAs, very corrupt human beings. He saw this wuruwuru money and was busy buying cars, building houses, living large. Guys would approach him for help and he'd be feeling so arrogant.

I didn't allow that to bother me at all. I was saving every penny I had towards my schooling in America. I got the admission, went to school, brought one or 2 opportunities back home. I can't forget my first experience ever at Shell, trying to introduce my ideas. Na gate I reach wey dem send me back cos I wasn't on any appointment's list for that day. I went back, also checked at chevron. Eventually it clicked. My first house na come and see. I'm not bragging, it remains the best in the whole of the estate I live in, till date.

It's when you've not arrived that your name wouldn't be heard. This same guy heard about me, about 8 years later. We attended a party one day on Lagos island. When he saw my car he was dumbfounded. But then no money for him to corner anymore at ITF. He brought something like a jalopy to that place.

The moral of my epistle is, don't lose hope. Na my time, your own too go soon come just keep on calling, as Akon would say. Re-strategise if your current strategy isn't working. Go and earn more degrees overseas if you can afford one. While schooling, look for opportunities cos 99.9% of those who went to school overseas just went there to earn degrees and probably stay back. Elon Musk left south africa for America to school. He tapped into opportunities and today,he's the richest man on earth. Though he chose to remain in America, he still re-strategised.

YoshihideSuga:
Sorry sir, but does this apply to the colonialist who enslaved Africans enmass and are today the wealthiest countries on earth? Does it include countries where Christianity isn't popular or practiced at all yet wealthy? Like China and Japan?
You may be right but my question is, why was africa enslaved? Before slavery came, what was their practice? In my grandma's town in ekiti where cocoa farming was a major occupation, an albino was said to have been used for rituals to boost their cocoa yield back in the days, the albino now placed a curse on their generation before his head was cut off. The curse is still following them till today, except a few who prayed it off and got delivered from it.

I had a friend and former colleague, he's an isoko man, they've never exceeded 40 years before they'd die in their family. Once a member is approaching age 40, he's already preparing his way and will, if the person com get moni small. He approached me one day at work and told me about it. Though he's older than me but we're friends. I told him he'd not die and the curse will elude him. But he'd need to pray fervently to break it and I'd also pray with him. Today, he's 53 years old. 3 years ago, his youngest sister died and I asked what's her age, he said she's about clocking 40 and she's never sick. Imagine his parents had broken that curse on their children.

Check those territories that were enslaved and what they were practising before the Europeans came.

Na the same life all of us come ?
Pray for God's grace over you and your children. While many parents always ended up in clubs and beer parlour, Don Jazzy's parents were prayer warriors, committing the lives of their children to God. Otedola's dad did same. In those days in shomolu, while other printers would be busy doing night shifts and overtime, Pa otedola would close his small shop and go for vigil. No be by work oo.

Our forebears had done weird stuffs which are affecting this generation who knows nothing about their evil deeds. 90% of those who lived centuries ago were idol worshippers. Many used human beings to do sacrifice, which had angered God and placed curses on them and their generations. Only God can break such curses.

When you see some people prosper, e get why. No be by working hard oo. Everything isn't about juju. Na God's grace. Their parents had paid their dues. Obj also came to mind. We all know the story.

OYEDIPE:
This is not a platform for political cheap points. We are discussing pure economy here.
Indeed. Where were you in August when dangote said he'd sell direct to the public and cheaper, before NNPCL rushed in to stop him and said they'd be the one to dictate the selling price and take over the downstream aspect? Before they did, they first rubbished the quality of his products in order to frustrate him, after which he invited government officials to his lab to see results of the one imported by the nnpc and his own. Google is your friend. Same FG frustrated him on local crude supply before he headed for the US. Later after they saw that dangote had outsmarted them on that, they now said ok, they'd supply crude to him locally and kept him waiting endlessly.

Amid the government's continued frustration, dangote had to voice out that a top government official owned a blending facility in Malta and the pressure mellowed after he had said this cos they knew he'd expose them all. Kaka keku ma ǰę sese, a fi shawadanu ni. It's a wise adage and they now brought up a decision of taking over the downstream aspect and sold to Nigerians at a ridiculously high price which angered dangote. The nnpc in order to keep frustrating him, said dangote can't meet local demand and they'd apppont 3 importers...true or false? Dangote now showed them proofs that he even had more than enough to supply to the market

Again, where's the port harcourt refineries they lied to you 3 times would soon commence operations after which they said the TAM had failed recently? Suffice is to say, I'm also relevant in the sector as a service provider grin grin. Illiteracy of the mind is the worst of all diseases, which only the affected can cure . Political chap points you said, hun? We're in it together.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria’s NNPC Continues Importing Petrol, Diesel Amid Dangote Refinery Surplus by Eriokanmi: 4:35pm On Nov 17, 2024
Richtaiwo:
Personally, I support this continued importation by NNPC. Dangote's body language appears to me like an unrepentant capitalist alway in a hurry to exploit every opportunity.

I lost hope in the expected succour from his refinery the day he started comparing prices of fuel in Saudi Arabia with Nigeria. Infact, I started losing trust in him when he made an outburst that he paid $100m for the land.

All these his remarks are pointers he is in business and nobody should expect manners from his refinery. Yes, he paid for the land and fuel prices in Saudi Arabia costs fortunes, but are they necessary remarks from him?

I'm beginning to nurse this feeling he is involved in all these so called uncertainties in the price of fuel. He should gerrout.
So, how much is dangote selling to marketers and how much is the nnpc and co selling? If you do know, pls tell us and then we'd agree with you on your claim about dangote. It's matter of time, the secrets behind all the dangote's frustrations would be known. It won't be hidden forever. I wish the masses had protested against the NNPCL's decision to market dangote's petrol in August and stopped them, after dangote had said he'd sell direct to the public in August and cheaper, which was stalled by the nnpc. Maybe by now, you'd have been stoning those you're supporting with your full chest on the subsidy scam.

Have you forgotten same people lied to you that the port harcourt refineries would soon commence petrol refining 3 consecutive times? At a time, they said they had commenced petrol refining technically, before they now came back to tell you same lies that the TAM( turn around maintenance) had failed. You always swallowed everything they say hook line and sinker. Set yourself free nah. You guys should be tired of being lied to by now.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria’s NNPC Continues Importing Petrol, Diesel Amid Dangote Refinery Surplus by Eriokanmi: 4:24pm On Nov 17, 2024
I'd urge dangote to leave these thieves to continue to milk Nigerian masses who gullibly voted them in power. They deserve what they're getting. Dangote should consider exporting his products to other countries who are interested, hoping they'd not kill him with export duties.

Now I'm vindicated. The reason NNPCL stood as an intermediary was to block the masses from knowing the exact amount the petrol that was being imported and their subsidy scam. How can you be importing petrol when there's a glut in the Dangote refineries? This is a major reason no investors will ever come here. If they could be frustrating our own like this, then it's not safe to invest in Nigeria where an individual's interest supercedes that of a nation.

How can you own an oil company that imports petrol and still be minister of petroleum and the president of a nation same time? Sadly other tribes won't say tinubu is greedy and a bad leader, they'd definitely generalise it on all yorubas and that's my concern. He gives no hoots.

Not really. If your documents didn't meet their requirements after submission, they'd refund your money. Hungary does this too. They don't collect visa fees in advance. It's same as someone who travelled abroad on scholarship and acquired enough skills to develop his/her country and came back home with it.

I'm in full support of what PO said because I benefited from it greatly. I came back with the skills acquired and opportunities to invest back home. How do you see such opportunities in such a crude place like Nigeria where corrupt politicians have blinded everybody's eyes from seeing their potential greatness with poverty and intimidation? It's Tinubu's drumbeat that wike is dancing to. Tinubu had lost the grip of the north already, can't you see? They need rivers and edo at all cost, to shore up their winning plans ahead of 2027 but they've failed to realise that, these states are mad states. They can elect a governor at the state level but elect another leader at the federal level. What happened last year in rivers was wike's plan to elect tinubu. We saw all the heavily manipulated result sheets. Obi later won in places earlier declared for Tinubu cos they failed to perfect their rigging plans on the server in those places.

Let them continue to set bad precedents. They'd not be in power forever. Where's buhari today? My concern is on the shuffering masses. Na by force to take rivers?

Only god knows why God is not topping our leaders agenda in spite the famines and other woes
Blame the people who choose them cos of tribalism and bigotry. God had done everything for us. We are blessed with everything here. But when we see a good path but wilfully ignore it and follow a wrong one, can we blame God? Remember righteousness exalts a nation they say. See what happened in America in the recent election. They knew trump misbehaved and turned himself into small god in his first term in office and they dealt with him at the polls. After seeing what the Democrat had done on the economy and immigration in the last 4 yrs, they also dealt with them at the poll.

Kemi badenoch was elected speaker by the whites who don't share same skin colour with her, jettisoning their fellow traditional white Britons who contested alongside Kemi. That's why the UK will always be UK and America will always be America. Both blacks and whites re-elected trump because they believe in their country first. Can such happen in Nigeria? If they don't say he's ibo, they'd say he's fulani or yoruba. Those supporting these bad leaders are the enemies of themselves and Nigeria.

I wish everyone could be like me. I'd voted both Christians, muslims, yoruba, hausa and ibo since 1999. Traditionally, many of us would never have done that. Only 2 of them lost, Olu Falae in 1999 and Peter Obi in 2023. I still didn't believe obi lost. They robbed him of his mandate ni. We are waiting for another drama that the inec would come up with again in 2027. They left atiku's results and tampered with that of obi during the time the server was deliberately turned off. Obi was later seen winnimg in some places declared for Tinubu on the irev portal because they didn't perfect their rigging plans well in those areas. They knew they can't try that with atiku cos his allies in the north would have kicked. The inec boss is also a Northerner so, he wouldn't want to betray his brother and a fellow fulaniman. It would have been an abomination.

They had better be careful else they'd burn down Nigeria and their entire family members, if they don't allow the peoppe to choose who should lead them. Nigeria is really suffering.
