The port harcourt refinery's re-revitalisation cum production commencement is an arrangee to make the gullible minds believe that the 2bn usd spent by the buhari-led administration had been judiciously spent. Soon, same story wouid be coming out from the sector. They'd say vandalism and shortage of crude supply are the reasons the refinery isn't producing to capacity or not in operation. They'd now shut down the facility.

Let me remind their gullible supporters, the ideas of the TAM was to make those refineries sellable to potential investors and not to commence production for local supply so, who's deceiving who? Had they deviated from that arrangement already? Did the public know anything about it? Why did they say TAM had failed and suddenly,production was being announced?Do these people think they're smart? Time will tell.

Dangote has now jettisoned their supply arrangement and headed for the international market. When I said the naira for crude arrangement was aimed at frustrating dangote, a lot of people here doubted it.

Nigeria’s ambitious strategy to price crude oil in naira for local refineries has encountered significant setbacks just two months after its rollout. Spearheaded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), the plan’s goal was to stabilize the country's dollar reserves while ensuring sufficient crude supply for domestic refining.

But the initiative appears to be faltering. Major players like Dangote Oil Refinery are receiving only a fraction of what it was promised.
According to Edwin Devakumar, the Dangote refinery's executive director, NNPC committed to delivering 385,000 barrels per day (bpd) to the 650,000-bpd facility but has failed to meet even this reduced quota. Describing deliveries as “peanuts,” Devakumar highlighted the challenges of relying on inconsistent domestic supply chains. Meanwhile, other refineries under the Crude Oil Refinery-owners Association of Nigeria (CORAN) report being entirely excluded from the naira-based crude program, citing ongoing negotiations with the government for resolution.

This supply crunch has forced Dangote to turn to international markets, recently purchasing 2 million barrels of U.S. WTI Midland crude. This may highlight the refinery’s global competitiveness, but it also exposes the inadequacy of Nigeria’s domestic crude allocation system.

NNPC has faced criticism for its inability to tackle a long history of chronic oil theft and pipeline vandalism. It now faces new criticism—for failing to prioritize local refining needs. Efforts to enforce domestic supply rules through the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission have so far proven ineffective.

As Nigeria’s largest refinery edges toward its year-end goal of 85% operational capacity, its struggles are emblematic of broader systemic issues in the country’s energy sector. Without reliable crude supply, the vision of a self-sufficient refining industry—anchored by the Dangote refinery—risks being another unrealized ambition in Nigeria’s complex oil landscape.

I was one of those who welcomed the idea when buhari flagged it off back then with 2busd. But afrer the 3 failed announcements of production commencement dates and the recent failed TAM announced, i had to drop that comment. Anything that will alleviate the sufferings of the masses is welcomed by me.

Hope not Audio as usual cos they've announced the refining commencement dates for same refinery 3 times which never happened. Recently the same NNPCL said the TAM had failed.

In 1988, when IBB under the decree established the universities of agriculture in the country, he threw it open to the zones to choose where to cite it. One Brigadier Ola Oni from Ekiti was the one in charge of allocation of those universities. 4 places were suggested in the old Ondo State namely, Ekiti West(where Brig. Ola Oni hailed from), Ikare Akoko and Okiti Pupa(both now in present Ondo state) and Saki in Oyo. But Obj hijacked it.

OBJ, a retired General said Abeokuta should be considered but without giving any reasons. This caused a lot of rancor among the the generals but because of the respect IBB had for Obj and his influence in the NA, Fed. Uni Agric was cited in abeokuta . This is from an authentic source, with documented evidence.

Buhari did same with several federal institutions cited in daura. Now, tinubu is doing same by citing a federal university of agriculture in his hometown of Iragbiji. It's almost perfected as we speak. Only Peter Obi had nothing of such in his home town.

In true sense, those lawmakers initially defected. They even tendered their resignations.

Those resignations were parts of the documents filed by Fubara in court.

The lawmakers too filed counter case and they included their letters.

Along the line, they came back from Abuja and parts of what they were told were that: either parties should go and withdraw their case.

The law makers went and took their case files.

Fubara too went and take his case file.

By withdrawing the cases, in the ‘eyes of law’ it’s means those law makers never defected.

Don’t forget that part of the Abuja resolution was that Fubara should represent the budget to the full house but he has not done that until another case was filed by Wike’s camp, challenging Fubara on state budget spending.

Lawyers in the house can still shed more lights on the technicalities of this case.

Wike could be using delay tactics to ruin the government of Fubara because Wike is ready to appeal all judgments that didn’t favour him up till Supreme Court.

Doing these alone would have wasted, at least, 2 years from Fubara’s years in his first term.

Fubara would be fine but it is the state that this will affect, mostly.

This makes sense but in as much as the resignation of the lawmakers subsisted, they remain defected lawmakers. While the legal fight rages on, fubara should expand his tax net and rivers will be fine without any FG allocation. If he invokes the law on the revenues coming from rivers to the FG account, the country could collapse cos he has the power to do so. Fubara will always win. They made much noise than this before the LG election

That said, whatever agreement signed, if it's not in the best interest of the party he represents and that of the rivers people who voted him, it's baseless. No law of the land backed that agreement , just so you know. The fight is not between rivers and wike but between wike and fubara, who refused to do his selfish bidding. We should stop defending evil for whatever reasons cos it won't do our country any good. Wike had left office, he should rest because he can't win the fight.

When obasanjo refused to give tinubu the federal allocation, because of his creation of the LCDAs, the state still survived without it for years. Rivers too can, because they're also a rich state. What tinubu even did was not in line with the Nigerian constitution back then but our state didn't feel the sanction, and what he did was different from the personal and unjustifiable fight of wike in rivers .

Fubara should just expand his tax net. He can do without the federal allocation, which can't do anything in the first place. He should also invoke law as governor on the revenues from oil, which goes into the federal account. If he does this, the nation will collapse so, wike needs to eat his humble pie. You can't be more powerful than the executive governor. The president's power is also limited on fubara. He's the owner of the state as the law says, not wike or tinubu. I don't see wike or tinubu winning this war. They're not even in same party with fubara to begin with

Yes naw. When I was talking about this each time Tinubu's blind supporters celebrated a marginal gains of the naira. I used to exchange 1,000 naira for 10,000 cefa between 2015 and 2016, in 2021, it dropped to 1k to 5,000 cfa.

Tinubu is the worst thing that can happen to Nigeria. They're not even talking about the free fall of the naira anymore as they did before they hijacked power in 2015. I blame Jonathan.for being weak to jail them. He caused us all these mess.
