Do your own and let people talk about it, elejo węwę. I was in ekiti last week again. Itswure road junction with oke-imesi is as deep as latrine. Uselessly governor. Learn from fayose who used state's funds to repair federal roads and later got reimbursed |
ubreel:...and what of Oke Ode that was raided by bandits yesterday, and the towns previously raided...? Dropping such a clueless comment isn't necessary. You should have kept quiet instead |
All south west politicians, including senators, reps, LG chairs, governors, obas are keeping quiet while the maimuna terror group keeps encroaching on our lands. They said they'd not invade the yoruba part of kwara but they're now at oke ode. This silence is dangerous ooo. Cos these people are on a deadly mission. What's kwara governor doing, for God's sake? Where a state of emergency needs to be declared, the FG would avoid it for political reasons. Is politics worth more than human lives? Isokay oo |
tunjijones:It was better the way they alerted the whole world first, so that by the time they expose them, Nigerian government wouldn't attack them the way they did to UAE under Buhari. UAE arrested and jailed those who laundered money for terrorists and jailed them. Instead of the federal government to applaud them they said UAE didn't give them fair hearing , asking them to be extradited to Nigeria but UAE refused. They didn't inform our government before they apprehended them so, they weren't happy. The sahel nations already know who our leaders are...ingrates because most of them too are guilty in this business. Don't tell me you don't know our VP's background and activities in borno as governor. Nigerians could kick, should his name be mentioned so, now that they're informing the world ahead, the sponsors won't be caught unawares. I think they'd walk their talk now that they're no more part of west africa. Lobbying will be extremely difficult. |
RichBoy247:Only the lazy fellas wouid be drooling over such an infinitesimal and inconsequential issue as this. Must he include "elder" to his salutations? He even first congratulated him and recognised him as Oba, unlike tinubu a supposed yorubaman who understands culture. Tinubu called him brother before recognising him as olubadan. I'm always not surprised whenever Tinubu's followers post comments. Like leader like followers. |
To all my brothers always dwelling on trivia issues to attack obi. Know this today and write today's date down. Tables do turn oo and how it turns is only known to none else but God Almighty Nobody must stage any yeye protest or yell marginalisation when it happens. Ask fulanis, who behaved as if they owned Nigeria during late Buhari's administration. We are supposed to be more civilised. Gov Ladoja, now Olubadan was Peter Obi's mate as governor and the duos must have had good times together as governors. He even recognised Oba Ladoja first by the oba title in his opening statement before calling him brother, which isn't a bad thing, unlike tinubu who went straight and called him brother, someone who's supposed to know better, what culture connotes in yorubaland. That's even arrogant and against our culture, for me. Nobody knows the next hour's event, talk less of knowing what could happen tomorrow. Enough said |
So baba attended the prestigious IBHS near Pa Awo's house @ oke bola? That's my bros and friend's alma mater. 👍 May your reign bring forth prosperity and peace in ibadanland. I remember his slogan as governor. Idèra dééé. Ageing is inevitable, no matter how rich you may be. Baba ti dagba. Omo yooba atata, a gentleman par excellence. A man devoid of controversial background and age falsification, very clean 👍 No wonder Taye currency sang that controversial song. He knew someone of a questionable character was in their midst. Won ti kęran m'ero ![]() |
NoToPile:This evil may truly not be peculiar to Lagos politics. But believe me, its worse here. If you read the news post on this thread, you'd concur. These people were in the news because they were popular and key position holders. There were directors who died mysteriously. Its just too much here. There's money in lagis politics and a possible reason for them killing themselves. I know of a low cadre staff who had built 2 mansions in lagos. NURTW isn't left out here. I know of a secretary who lived close to orile agege general hospital who died mysteriously too. I was at my sister's house during his house warming ceremony. All key union members were in attendance. They shared same fence. I also remember alhaji saka saula. Another one happened of recent sef. You may Google it. |
MartinCorridon:You would hate politics anytime you visit alausa. I know of 2 senior officers who died this year alone. They were both in their early 50s. No sign of ailments. One was just promoted while the other was due. They were already celebrating his new position when the news broke out that he slumped and died. Someone who had no history of HBP. They use charm against each other to get promoted faster. They go farther than you see them in the physical. The other day my neighbour, a senior officer at LABSCA said she saw what we call tira dangling on her entrance door handle in the office. There was a time she wanted to sit and her instinct said she should check the seat cover, what she sits on everyday. She saw 2 tiny needles pointing out. Maybe the needles had been soaked in charms and once it touches her blood, na to collapse straight. The woman too no be easy woman but she doesn't harm anyone. They're afraid of her in that place cos they've tried her many tines but failed. She too travels for medical check up every 3 months overseas. This is a reason lagos politics is do or die affair and we cant wait to rid them of our space come 2027, beginning from their baba isalę |
My fav aircraft. I've boarded it to Los Angeles once and Paris from DXB. The roof design is like earthly paradise. You'd forget you're in the air once you take off with those beautiful star designs on the roof. Amazing! |
WizardOfNG:My proble with you guys, despite the obvious is your display of sheer ignorance to defend the indefensible. See how far you've gone defending this madness. Dii tinubu encourage buhari to print more notes or not? Yes , he did. Did buhari yield to the advice or not? Yes he did. So, what are you drooling about here? Some posts don't really deserve any response. Try and be intelligent when you post and stop derailing next time, but I doubt |
WizardOfNG:See response to your fake post below, in case you've forgotten . You're not wise at allhttps://punchng.com/tinubu-to-buhari-print-more-naira-notes-suspend-vat

nairalanda1:Borrowing to fund a long term project like the coastal highway project instead of maintaining the existing ones which are death traps in many places, or Borrowing for palliatives that will alleviate the immediate sufferings of the masses as a result of the sudden subsidy removal, also by keep our economy running ,which is better out of the 2? We all have conscience. It doesnt lie, even if we do. Enough said |
nairalanda1:You're taking it too far. There shouldn't be any derailment from this topic. Do you remember despite the so called huge inherited debt, tinubu still borrowed? Do you know how many times he had borrowed since he became president and he's still borrowing more? If truly according to them, despite the huge debt incurred by the past administration theyre telling us our credit performance was good and we could borrow more( I remember when they posted the number of countries we're better than, in terms of credit performance in africa here, to justify the claim), why not also borrow for palliatives either from within or outside since our credit performance was so good? If truly they had the love of the masses at heart, this would have been their focus. Are you aware Tinubu's administration borrowed almost 800m usd to finance the lagos-calabar coastal road project that is a long term in view? A lot is just wrong with this administration and I think theyre acting deliberately this way What's more important...palliatives to save the poor masses from further despair and keep the economy going or the elephant project of that calibre? The existing roads are death traps and I always use ekiti road as an example here. Im not saying you shouldn't defend your party, its ok. But when doing this, think of what your conscience will tell you first. Atiku wouid have sold the refineries which Tinubu is planning to borrow another money to fix and he said this many times. Obi would have done same. Both candidates had agreed on the removal of subsidy too. But Obi said he will not remove it once cos the impact would be too much on the masses....and he's right as seen today. I cited the Angola model to you, which is why they're not crying like us today. Angola did like Jonathan. Before subsidy was removed, enough palliatives were already in place and it was removed in phases, not once like Tinubu had done. but tinubu didn't just bother. |
nairalanda1:Borrowing doesn't have to be only from external sources bros. Government borrows internally, they raise bonds too and do borrow from the apex bank. |
nairalanda1:Tell me, which government will ever tell you there's money somewhere? And whenever there's no money and they need to finance some critical projects, they know where to go to apply for loan. So, why not go there to borrow for palliatives? Tinubu has borrowed since he entered government for whatever reasons and had also embarked on unnecessary spending, including the purchase of an aircraft which received express approval of the senate and is even planning to borrow more now. It's never a sin for any administration to borrow, if its truly for the stability of the economy and alleviating the suffering of the masses so, get that. After all, they keep telling us that our credit rating is good and so, there's nothing bad if we borrow as a nation. Had he done this, believe me,some of the SMEs would have remained and they'd be able to refund the loan in part, via remittances made by them. Not only that, the employees they're feeding by way of monthly salary would have remained. You can imagine how many Nigerians have been thrown out of jobs cos their employers have ceased to exist. What of the artisans like bricklayers, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, name it, who are out of jobs cos people dont have the capacity to build houses anymore? Traders and farmers have also got their own share of the effect of Tinubu's poor economic policy. Recently, they said fuel consumption had reduced greatly. Don't tell me it's because of the paltry qty of the CNG vehicles on the road. Its because less number of vehicles now plies our roads. That's not progress. Its the effect of his poor policy. These are the facts staring us all in the face |
surgical:Through I had taken a break from NL, till November, your post got me. It really aroused my interest. See, this country is sitting on a keg of gunpowder, waiting to explode. The FG had exhausted all their ever-known strategies yet, nothing is working. The fact is, their followers aren't enlightened enough to counter them, each time they come out to reel out their usual lies. How gbajabiamila, the former speaker of the house of reps had suddenly forgotten that it was buhari who actually removed the subsidy from the 2023 budget remains appalling. All the APC members, including reps and senators knew this fact, including tinubu himself. However, the duty of a president is to stabilise the economy and alleviate the sufferings of his people. Since he had known the fact that subsidy provision wasnt part of the 2023 budget, he ought to have known that it's truly gone and made a provision for a supplementary budget which would have taken care of the palliatives to cushion the inevitable effect. Again, just like Angola had done in their subsidy removal in phases, he ought to have done the same in order to protect the economy and the people from collapse. Afterall, democracy is about the people and not individuals. You can't say subsidy is gone without any palliatives already in place. He ought to have consulted Jonathan and asked how he did his own, which he sponsored protests to stop. Tinubu's action on the removed subsidy without palliatives already in place was as good as sending your child to school on an empty stomach and say, son/daughter,enjoy your day and be merry! When you return in the evening, I'll give you food. That child won't assimilate anything. He'd come back looking miserable. On the aspect of reverting to taxing Nigerians as you posited, it was part of their ever-known fake policies. At an FIRS office recently, all of them that used to be busy were found sleeping on their desk while some were gossiping. The place that used to bubble with taxpayers at the 21st of every month when filing returns. In a month, before Tinubu came, a staff told me they used to generate 60m naira in that office but now, to see 5m naira dey hard them. That's just a branch oo. If you now sum up the halted monthly remittances from all the FIRS offices in Lagos alone, na billions of naira losses. I learnt from them that, from the nationwide data of active SMEs available to them, as at 2022, over 50,000 SMEs monthly remittance had stopped (btw 2023 and now). Its either they've closed shop or they're bankrupt. They said they've written to some SMEs under their MSTO coverage but they said they weren't able to cope with the situation. Some said they're no more in Nigeria. Let's assume out of the entire companies in Nigeria only that 50,000 SMEs were remitting 1m naira monthly, that's 600bn naira yearly. This isn't part of the blue chip companies and large corporations that can remit up to 5m monthly and above. Remember some of them have also left the country. I was at Ikeja shop rite yesterday and saw a wide empty space. Any doubting thomases should go there and confirm. So, tinubu started off on a wrong foot. Millions of artisans are out of jobs now, playing ludo, snooker and draught from morning till evening on every street here in lagos. Is that what tinubu has come to power to cause Nigerians? Even if he doesn't come back in 2027, which is every sane Nigeria's prayer right now, he'd be leaving a lot of wounds behind, which will give his successor a tough time to heal. They're already blaming buhari, a much better leader for their woes and that will be their song or their closing remark when leaving the office, as the reason behind their poor performance. |
A Nigerian software engineer, Ridwan Akinfenwa, has narrated how he lost a Chief Technology Officer role worth over $260,000 per year because of his nationality. Akinfenwa, a software engineer, disclosed on his LinkedIn page on Sunday that he had signed a contract for the role last month, describing it as a career milestone after years of hard work in the global tech industry. He said in the LinkedIn post that started trending on Tuesday, ”Today, I find myself grappling with a deeply disheartening experience in my professional journey. “As a Senior Software Engineer with a solid educational and technical foundation, I recently secured a CTO position that offered a salary of up to $260,000+ per year including bonuses.” He said his optimism was cut short when he received a termination email from the organisation citing compliance regulations. “Today, I received a termination email that shattered my hopes. The message cited further compliance checks, revealing that the organisation could no longer work with Nigerian nationals due to regulatory constraints. “This decision came without prior indication, leaving me blindsided and emotionally drained,” Akinfenwa said. He explained that the experience was not an isolated case, as he confessed it occurred frequently costing him job opportunities. “This year alone, I’ve encountered multiple instances where my nationality has cost me significant career advancements, to the point where I’ve lost count of the setbacks,” he added. The engineer said he attempted to seek clarification after the termination mail but was told the decision was tied to government regulations. “The email exchange that followed was a mix of frustration and resignation, my attempt to negotiate or seek clarity was met with an apology acknowledging the decision was driven by external regulations, specifically from a government entity, leaving no room for recourse,” he stated. Akinfenwa said the development forced him to reflect on the broader struggles of Nigerian and African professionals in the international tech industry. “It’s a stark reminder of the invisible barriers that persist, even in an industry that prides itself on innovation and inclusivity. “I’m left wondering how to navigate this landscape, whether relocating is the only viable path forward or if there are strategies to overcome such nationality-based exclusions,” he wrote. ![]() Akinfenwa added that he shared his experience not only to vent but also to seek support and advice from his professional network. ![]() https://punchng.com/nigerian-software-engineer-loses-260000-international-job-over-nationality/#google_vignette

ebexofficial:Don't mind the small boy jare. As if they're not gifting him too . JeloziPeller had better re-strategise becasuse nothing lasts forever. Just yesterday, Elon Musk lost his richest man on earth status. Records are being broken every time, only a strategist holds it for a reasonable period of time. Good morning everyone, going off NL commenting, till November. Ciao |
SmartPolician:Soludo is overrated. He lacks no decorum. Face governance...never! But you're there snoozing into obi's matter, as if he's envying him. When you're big, youre big. Soludo can never near obi in achievement both as governor and as politician in Nigeria. He doesn't even have half of his money. You're occupying a position someone that you're attacking had left over 8 years before you ever thought of entering politics. Someone you're supposed to be respecting as your superior. Shameless human being. I think he deserves the insult. |
olyrayy:You're right but the terrorists often come from muslim dominated area. Their mission is well spelt out. Muslims population is enough to start a country so they should split for peace to reign |
DeZoro:True. Wherever you are, distance should never be a barrier in caring for the family. I have a friend working at the federal radio corporation of Nigeria nasarawa state branch, he comes home to see family in lagos once in 4 months by air, due to insecurity. Its risky traveling by road nowadays. My both fiends living in America come home once in a year to see their family. The family too visit once in a year. If the family goes in December, friends would come in July so they see one another 2 times in a year. The family will still eventually become citizens. They have 2 more years to file for citizenship. One lives in PA while the other lives in Bronx. I've been to their place. They occupy one room each. They saved the rent for a 2 bed and bult houses, set up family and children in school. no family care can be better than that. Had they relocated with family, the journey wouldn't be so fast |
DeZoro:If you read my post well, you'd spot my emphasis on family. The reason you're emigrating at that age isn't for your self primarily, but for the sake of your family. Its never an easy decision to take. If you're doing well at home, you'd be counting down on your retirement at that age. I posted that comment based on experience, my experience and that of others. I left while still single at late 20s. Two of my friends I assisted to enter usa left in their 40s and without their wives and children, the best arrangement ever. Starting life afresh over there with the family is very tough. They both declared for asylum and got their green card. With 10 years validity during Biden administration. As I speak to you, their family always visit and they're are OK. They too come home yearly. I know 2 of their children schooling in ABUAD, one of the highly rated universities globally. Its located in ekiti while the younger ones attend good sec schools in lagos. Those who know me here know i dont fabricate stories. Wives are well engaged in business. They're not struggling to pay fees. They've both owned a duplex each here in alimosho lagos. I sourced an architect, workers and suppliers here on Nairaland for their houses. Renting 2 bed in the usa for example is huge, for a family just starting. I've lived there for years before relocating to Nigeria to set up my business and I've been visiting the US for 21 years now. Will you as a starter want to put family in a one bed? You can save and give them good life at home. My friends told me once they get their passport, they'd file for the family, gbam! That's wisdom. The example you cited can truly happen, I'm not ruling it out. Na wetin I experience and witness I dey use for example. Its the best, trust me. |
dederocs:Just come, enter from ikotun and check if you'd see mallam riding okada in that axis. |
Maybe DR Congo too should split like Sudan did such that, the Muslim dominated region would stay apart. South Sudan will remain grateful to God for their independence forever. DR Congo is another highly populated country in africa without many noticing |
Lekby25:Thank you. I forgot to add this. Discipline is very key. I have a friend living in NY, he's in his 40s. He has to imbibe high level of discipline. And as a responsible man, you shouldn't find this difficult, wishing everyone was like me. My friend comes home once in a year while his family visits once in a while with the interval of 6 months apart. Wife and children spend a month during Xmas each year, while friend comes in June and stays for 3wks. He's a green card holder with 10 years validity. He's so lucky. He got it during biden administration. He sought asylum before his intended stay expired. Within 5 years of entering us, he's built a 5-bed duplex in lagos. Wife and children are doing ok |
The best way to japa is when you're still single. You'd make it faster with a clear sense of direction, judging from experience. Also, once you've clocked 40s, please dont take the entire family with you at first, or you'd be feeding from hand to mouth and over stress yourself to make ends meet. Life no hard, it's what you make it. Go, work and take care of your family back home. You may decide to stay back at work and do overtime. Or you combine 2 jobs together, you may even be away for the whole week from home, hustling. Love is incomplete without money oo, put that in your left palm so you don't feed with it.. With your family with you, you cant achieve much. Don't expect any white collar job when you get there at 40s, even as a single youth but if it comes your way, grab it. Put your children in good schools back home, you're still spending far less in best schools locally, compared to the fees and expenses over there. Maintain just one room where you can sleep and wake up. With your family with you, you know that's not possible . Once you're fully settled with some reliable investments back home and children education well sorted out, then you may invite them over for holidays, until they finally move and this time, they're graduates seeking to further. Wife too won't have to work under stress. |
In one week alone, Nigeria has lost close to 500 citizens officially while scores are being kidnapped daily. Do we even have a government at all? It seems people do shiit and get away with it. God have mercy |
No wonder the Benin ore expressway was so dry around 7pm recently when i drove there, the road that used to bubble till midnight a few years back. We didnt see a single police on the road The military checkpoint was visibly deserted. I'd never risk night travel by road in that axis again, until Nigeria gets better. Its worse than suicide mission. |
