Spy360:I have been registered on NL since 2014 but an active guest since eons ago. If I made predictions about Pep last year the evidence would have been in one of the threads. We even have detectives here, they may have done screenshots. The fact remains that I made no predictions because I saw what was available. I am the same person now announcing that Manchester City will win the EPL in 2017/18. They are just 2LBs away. Danilo seems like a wrap. |
Decale:Ring in hand. What he thinks he needs now is legacy. Russell just won MVP and Kyrie is not on the top 10 list neither did he make the all NBA. If he continues this way, perhaps he fears he would still be in LBJs shadow and not become much but a coattail rider. I pray Klay Thompson does not catch the same spirit. I agree with everything you said i.e about Miami, NY etc. |
sod09: iPopAlomo:If you say a lie ad nauseam it still won't become the truth. Who did he sign in Barca and Bayern - his previous 2 clubs? You think United don't have unlimited funds? LOL. He came to City for legacy. Mou will never have it in United (just like he did not get it in RM). Pep did not get it in Bayern as well but he has it in Barca. He wants to replicate that success in City (a team with no history). Let the season start already. He would do better than 3rd (what he achieved last sesson) and Chelsea and Tottenham will not have an easy ride this time (shock value gone plus more UCL engagements). I theorize he has just more than enough to edge it. That is my prediction. I am asking you to quote me now. |
iPopAlomo:LOL. Okay. He is Mendy and another LB away from winning it. They need to replace Kolarov and Gael. That is all I am waiting for. The league won't be a breeze this year because there are a lot of good teams; Chelsea, Tottenham and United. But he would win it. Liverpool and Arsenal stand no chance - especially the latter. |
Now I see why they were looking for D-Rose. Kyrie is trying to move to San Antonio? Hmmm. Well let us see what would transpire in the next few days. I wonder what happened though. |
sod09:They did not bid for him. Dani was a free agent. He wanted to work with Pep. He praised him as the best manager he had ever worked with. But PSG swooped in with more money. Had it been Pep, it would have made news. He is the only one who does not need to sign players to win (according to you people). Yet you people pan Wenger when he does not sign. |
iPopAlomo:We shall wait and see. They need to replace Kolarov and Clichy now and I would be 100% sure City would win the league. If your prediction above is based on yesterday then I don't think you should be debating football at all. |
sod09:Are we discussing whether City wanted him or if they got him? Are we discussing if he was their priority? We told you age was a factor. That Walker was their primary target and Dani was to be a mentor if he was to be signed. You and Spy kept using the Dani potential signing as proof age was not a factor for City last time. Time has proven you both wrong. Danilo and Walker are considerably younger than Zaba and Sagna and Mendy and someone else will make up for Clichy and Kolarov. PS: Dani went to PSG for more money. Period. |
raumdeuter:The figures were even hyper-inflated on Pep's part. |
dopeJemi:These figures were disproved on the same Twitter platform you yanked this from. Did you not see it? |
Spy360:LOL. City's first preseason game compared to United's third. To put things into perspective, United conceded 2 goals against LA Galaxy in their first game. City used atleast 7 players in both halves that will never start for them when the season begins. Pre-season game that Liverpool FC beat Barca 4-0 last season? |
raumdeuter:I remember asking them if they were sure, but true to their nature, they ran off blowing steam with no substance backing them. |
iPopAlomo:You have an uncanny way of eating humble pie. But FYI, Dani went where he was going to be paid outrageous money at 35. You would have done so too if Woking offered you that money. |
iPopAlomo:Good you like what you like. Just don't come back here after he has won things to tell me he won because he spent money. Deal? |
Spy360:Arsenal got the best deal when the season has not started or ended? So win online polls, win the odd preseason game and win an FA Cup and that makes up for a successful season? Ride on. |
SmooshCHN, Emri Casspi? |
SmooshCHN:Klay is adamant about the stay, it is his father that wants Lakers to be on his resume following after himself. Lacob is a venture capitalist who made his multi millions from investing in some great start-ups in silicon valley. This GSW project was a pet project (Like Balmer's with the Clippers). Winning is infectious trust me, it is more likely Iggy to leave then than Klay who should have absolutely peaked by then. We are not exactly paying that much yet. Curry's contract was long over due and we are still behind the spending pecking order atleast when compared to many others. I can see potential in McCaw but I know little about the other 2 even though the reviews are rave for them. Any word on Swaggy P? |
SmooshCHN:$53M for 2 more years is pretty much the same contract he was signed with. I believe he would get the super max in 2018/19. Sure, he is selfless but he also got a $300M Nike shoe contract plus a ton more endorsements to boot. The guy is loaded and wants to win rings. I think letting a few millions go now to gain them back in the future is worth the deal. I think we might lose Iggy in 2019 when Klay and Draymond are due a new contract but then again na speculation we just dey speculate. If we have won say 2 more rings by then, our valuation would be something ginormous plus the incomes that would have streamed from winnings plus the potential of the new building in SF can force Lacob and co to pay way above the cap. |
SmooshCHN:Lacob purchased GSW at $400M or so and today the franchise is worth $2.6B. That is an over 500% increase in just a handful of years. The NBA and owners make a lot not to pay these players this much whereas how much value in terms of hard currency do Nurses and Engineers bring to their franchises? Not as much as these athletes I would wager. |
SmooshCHN:Shaun L said "you can't put a price tag on happiness" and I think that is where his focus was. He could go somwhere else for that pay day and be making $$$ but taking Ls, to what end. This guy was bounced around 8 teams because of the career-threatening injury he faced and today he has 2 rings to his name. 99% of other NBA players will not win 1 ring. Think of it! As per KD it would be less than the super max but only just. I am guessing something like $31M a year. We can afford to pay Curry this much regardless of cap because we have his bird rights. What Curry did was to agree with the deal in principle. Then Myers and Lacob can sign or resign whoever under the cap and then pay Curry whatever they need to to reward him. As per Iggy, the contract shocked me (when juxtaposed with Shaun's) but I guess half of that contract is just for his intelligence as a player and his D on Bron (lol). I just hope this would not affect Klay's or Draymond's 2 years from now. |
SIRcumalot:I could bet my bottom dollar he is sure-fire leaving after this coming season. OKC don't have the cap space to pay him and Russell that max deal. Besides, he let everyone know he was eyeing the Lakers. Would you rather spend your money in LA or Oklahoma? Forget winning rings, OKC would be better next season but only that. Thank God no MVP for Russell again ![]() |
SmooshCHN:LOL in fact I take back my last statement. It appears wise Jerry still cares for us. He made Clippers consider rebuilding with De Andre then traded CP3 to Rockets and not Spurs. CP3 would have been far more dangerous under Pop but what do I know? |
Harden went all out in helping his team recruit CP3. I am guessing he is more than willing to play off the ball while CP3 plays as the PG. It might work for them because Harden's efficiency will go back up and his turnovers would be slashed. D'Antoni's gung-ho attack would get to another gear it appears. For all this I think Houston have lost their defence to acquire CP3. Looking at it from a GSW V Rockets matchup, I still have nothing to fear even though I don't see a sweep happening. They could peep the Spurs to number 2 seed if Pop fails in letting LMA go for someone who is tough enough to want to win. Anyways, the WC is really shaping up. In other news, may Jerry West have a hard time with the Clippers, In Jesus' name, Amen. |
rotimi9:Sweeping generalization; a sign a statement is going to be wrong or fallacious. |
Manutd19:I always love when you say things like this. Absolutely love it. Edit: But you are a very balanced poster sha. For the most part that is. |
rotimi9:There are intelligent people on here to quote and have meaningful debates with. Not every troll deserves a reply. Some people are just here for self-validation. They think throwing invectives about makes them superior to others. One way to identify an attention-seeker is in their neophytic and wanton use of numbers. I mean someone who thinks a number defines/determines his intelligence should not be worth your time. Anyways, even though I agree with what you have above, the bias media already subtly let us know who they voted for and it seems Russell got it. Lebron James' triple double average in the NBA finals this year seemed more organic than what WB did all season long but the media just looked for a way to justify their vote for a phenomenal athlete who happens to be a stat-padder. Who else is noticing that Russell would have never won a ring with KD despite how great both players are? That is because Russell never seemed to accept that KD was simply the better player who needed to take the reins of a team. Russell has finally got what he has craved for and I can only wish him well in future. At least, in 2017/18 we can go back to actual basketball and not the stat-padding show we graced last time. |
SmooshCHN: "I didn’t listen to Hov on that old song When he told me pay it no mind I get more satisfaction outta going at their heads and seeing all of you die And I seen a lot of you die Free smoke, free smoke aye! Free smoke, free smoke aye! Free smoke, free smoke aye!" |
Decale:Says nothing about Cavs or PG. Redundant post I know considering he explained himself well but needed to restate his position so that wannabes will perhaps understand after reading the same thing twice. |
SmooshCHN:That is the science of idiocy. Where someone thinks because he called others' names first he is somehow absolved of being called those names himself. |
SmooshCHN:Had to login for this bruh. ![]() |
iPopAlomo:Got owned by who? Must you talk nonsense all the time like you are trying to bamboozle your fellow AFC fans? So now that Conte signed Willy Caballero that means the issue CFC had last season was a goal keeping one or is it not clear other signings will be made? If you have nothing to say, just lock up. Pep stole the best RB in the world on a 2-year contract so that English bums with zero tactical nous to play the role can learn from him. |
Spy360:What is the anal-lysis you did above? When Mancini brought Viera it was because of? When he brought Maicon it was because of? When Fergie brought Scholes back? When Mou brought Drogba back? Since time immemorial coaches have brought in veteran players here and there to mentor youngins especially when there is a paucity of talent in that position. After all, why did Conte himself chase the same Dani Alves? I don't like to engage in dumb arguments. If Pep still signs a younger RB what will now be the point of this your hoopla? The other 2 signings he has made are 22/23 year olds and you are telling someone to sharrap when you should be eating humble pie. |
