diggz:YES. And so will Chelsea and United. Only Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool would come out to play to some degree. |
I love Lemar as much as the next man but he is not Coutinho. Coutinho's only undoing is his injury record which can be said of Modric as well. We cannot rebuild anything to compete with RM. We need finished products which Phillipe is. Someone to command some attention from opposing teams in a way that Leo gets separation and freedom. Deulofeu and co could clearly not do it against RM in the King's Cup games. Messi got all the attention and was easily fouled or dispossessed. Iniesta could not waltz past Kroos or Case like he would have done 7 years ago and we simply had no midfield. What Coutinho lacks in intelligent passes he makes up for with his dribbling skill, pace and shot-taking. Coutinho, to me, has a higher ceiling than Isco. I watched him in Inter and thought he looked like their best player in some games inspite of his young age. Coutinho can dribble past players quickly and with his presence, Messi would have freedom to cause havoc. Lemar is even left footed and I doubt he would be able to dispossess Dembele so what is the point? |
monerozi5590:Sergio Ramos dying min header against ATM to save your campaign. 2 other cosmetic goals against Juve to pad the stats. Dominatrixes. |
Yonce:Forgive me, I don't know how to say I bulldozed teams when I was 2nd in a group to the 3rd best team in the Bundesliga. I am sure you also bulldozed Barca in La Liga last season. We thank Uefa for gifting you guys 2 offside goals and a couple red cards in both ties against Bayern. Even Burnley could beat Chelsea when they had a red card. Remember when AC Milan led 2-0 or PSG 4-0 from one leg. That is the beauty of 1-off games. |
eph12:That is in the past. Madrid would not beat last season's Juve over 2 legs. They would not have beat ATM of 13/14 or 15/16 over 2 legs too. Fluke. |
Yonce:Bulldozed? Not even with Sleeping Cattle. Your team finished 2nd to Dortmund in the group stages. Fvcking Dortmund. If you had Juve in a 2-leg tie they would have knocked you guys out. Ask Carlo Ancelotti. |
eph12:They beat those that beat me in one-off flukes. I am living in the present; we are 2 points ahead of them without conceding a goal. ![]() If being dominant was a player we are like Busquets (always going to "start" such convos no matter what) while RM are like Krychowiak (chopping bench like termites). |
eph12:The UCL but there is a way to win it to qualify as being dominant. Liverpool and Chelsea won it 04 and 12 but nobody called them dominant. 13/14 Barca's head to head is better than Madrid's but they avoid us and win the UCL. 14/15 We win a treble (whilst winning the UCL) 15/16 We win a double including 4-0 at RM. They win the UCL on penalties. 16/17 They win a double (wonderful!) But we are clearly ahead of them head to head including scoring more than them. They were better than us last season but not dominating like we did or were. End of. |
eph12:Dominated "last season"? You are being smart by half. Ask the RM trolls here if they were referring to last season. RM had a better season than Barca. Nobody is gainsaying that but that is where it stops. Haba their recent 2 victories against us only made it 16-10 head to head in the past decade. This includes our 6-2, 4-0 (Bernabeu games) not forgetting the 5-0 humiliation at the Nou Camp. That is sheer dominance. |
eph12:So you can read. Good. Let us help thy understanding. The teams that won the league in the respective years Arsenal won the FA Cup also played in the same competition. So Arsenal cannot turn around and say they are dominating or the best simply because they won the FA Cup. For e.g Chelsea won the league but lost to Arsenal in the FA Cup. Does that make Arsenal the best team in England? RM won the UCL back to back. Credit to them. But to stretch it into claiming world dominance is a farce. Even Mr. Fantastic cannot reach that far. |
eph12:How intelligent you would have been if only you could read and understand. |
monerozi5590:Then Barca should have won 6 consecutive titles which includes some of the years you are presupposing for RM. 2007-12 Barca played 6 consecutive semi-finals. RM could never have beaten Barca in 2 legs in any of the years above including your back-to-back years. Barca won a sextuple in 08/09 and barring an ojoro (2 clear Barca goals were disqualified) Copa Del Rey 1-0 loss to Mou's RM could have repeated it in 10/11. Luis Enrique went on to win 5/6 trophies in 14/15. That is dominance. Not when a team wins 3/4 FA Cups like Arsenal in the past 4 seasons then you want to raise shoulders with the upper echelon. |
Yonce:The year you won on penalties another team bested you in the league and cup including pummeling you 4-0 in your own home. The 2nd year of your "back-to-back" the same team beats you head-to-head in your league (including beating you in your own home again) and outscores you as well. The only reason you went back to back is because you did not play that team. Fact. PS: Winning the UCL does not equate to being the best team in Europe. Ask Chelsea. |
sebod:Don't mind them. 2 fluke-y UCL titles and we won't hear word again. |
When Tottenham finished above Arsenal FC that was a sign but Spy360 did not accept it. When Liverpool peeped your guys to the last champions league spot, that was a sign yet Spy360 did not accept it. I told you people that you cannot finish 5th, sign Sead and Laca and expect to compete. Your competitors are outspending you - even teams that did better than you are strengthening - yet, Senile Wenger was acting smug: not wanting to be viewed as someone who panic-bought anyone. Now look at where you are. I just read that Lemar would go to Liverpool FC for £55M. Wenger only a few days ago was telling people Monaco had sold too many players so he won't be going for Lemar. I mean, the man was pitying Monaco at the detriment of his team. Your team has good players that would have thrived under a better coach. I respect the man for what he has done in the past, but he stayed the same and the game evolved. In fact, there are certain games one can win simply because of the motivation by the manager and Wenger severely lacks it. I still think Arsenal have what it takes to finish 4th this season. But even that, is ceteris paribus and in reality, all things are not equal if Wenger stays or stays the same. |
Mustafi is definitely not 6'0". I wonder why players lie about things like that. He looks 5'10" at best. |
modextus:Liverpool are in on the act don't mind them. They want to give their fans a legitimate reason for letting him go - same as Dortmund. All the while they were just postponing the evil day and I was saying it here. There is no way on earth Barca would come calling with £100M and any club would turn them down. No way! |
City are my favorites. This season reminds me of 2007/08 and I think it would go that way. United will be like Arsenal FC of that year. Chelsea will remain the same Chelsea and City will be like United. Arsenal started well that year wobbled through draws and ended up finishing 3rd with 83points. Chelsea and United were inconsistent initially but picked steam towards the end of the season and finished 2nd and 1st (85 and 87 points respectively). So I expect United to drop points in the bigger games, pick a few unwanted draws later on and finish 3rd despite their good start. Conte would still find ways to galvanize his previous champs into grind-out wins but would only just fall short. City would have close wins mixed with starts and stops at the start but by next year, click into gear and win with more intimidating scorelines thereby winning the EPL. I am forced to say Wembley and Coutinho's sale (without any credible immediate replacement) will push Tottenham and Liverpool to 5th and 6th. Arsene will find a way to convince Le Goons that another 4th place finish is some degree of success. Everton would do no better than a high-point 7th placed finish. Caveat; I am not Adikam. |
Chelseafan1:He actually has the same resources at Pep's disposal but we would just tag it as one of the many things you don't know. |
CapitalCee:I was referring to 2001. His time with Roma. |
And game 1 in the regular season is between both teams. Can't wait. |
jonsnow92:LOL. I am just seeing this. Chill. Let August 31st pass then we can revisit this. |
raumdeuter:Nasri too is in Turkey. ![]() All the talents Pep should have used. |
Chelseafan1:He is disappointing because Burnley did not put 3 past him when he was a man down. He is disappointing because he outplayed Everton for the most part with a man down and drew - even nearly won. Tactical masterclass is to park the bus against Tottenham yet the same you would pan Mourinho for doing that. Even Arsene Wenger ravaged by injuries still played good football against CFC in the FA Cup final. |
ToyinDipo:Capello won. Spaletti was second atleast twice. |
Neymar1095:No, they will say he had good players. But the same people are proposing new players for Valverde like they did for Enrique. Only Pep is mandated to use scrubs and win. If he does not use scrubs, he is not good. |
TheGoodJoe:Nacho was down the pecking order behind Sergio and Gab. He needed a consistent run of games which City could not provide for him. I think Pep believed in him and let him go but if he was on loan Leicester would not have played him frequently. City put a buy-back clause because they believe in him and Nacho said so in his farewell speech. |
iPopAlomo:You are right; Huddersfield will win the league. The league is usually won after 2 games. Hope you are happy with your Stoke city performance. I expect more of the same against Liverpool. Stewpid Pep who went to draw a game against Everton when he was a man down. Other coaches like Conte would have won in the same circumstance (like he did against Burnley). |
Aguero is not the player he used to be. He is hesitant, indecisive and imprecise these days. Marcus Sané needs to be benched for a bit. He is now complacent. He messed up passes, did not close down and was absent-minded for the most part. City need to convert chances and shoot more. They can't repeat last season's mistakes. I am confident they will though. CFC conceded 3 goals after going a man down to Burnley. I wonder why anyone would get ärsed if City outplay an Everton team that were 1 more than them and only draw - it was a good point. It is a long season and Everton FC are going to push for top 6. I think City need Alexis or another finisher. Aguero would need 5 chances to score 1. |
modextus:This same Gerard Romero? https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/620557/Alexis-Sanchez-Arsenal-Manchester-City-Transfer-News/amp LOL. Man said that on the 7th of June. Said this same thing you have above about Coutinho before Coutinho handed in a transfer request. Same duo said Bellerin to Arsenal was done: https://m.facebook.com/fcbnation/photos/a.168067396684947.1073741828.168046966686990/849571505201196/?type=3 I don't take journos who talk out their ärses seriously. I let logic dictate. |
Chelsea could not put 3 passes together in this half. |
