jonsnow92:Understand the politics of selling players. Coutinho and Dembele will be Barca players - mark my words. The selling club is only trying to play tit for tat by stalling till the end of the transfer window. The same clubs boasted a month before Neymar left that Coutinho was £89M and Dembele £75M. Now all of a sudden £100M+ for each player is not enough considering they don't even sell Jerseys like Neymar. At some point, we are going to have to call their bluff. After all, we know the players have handed in transfer requests and if you have taken your time to watch players that have tendered requests to their clubs, their performances always drop significantly. So forget all the bravado that both clubs and their presidents are trying to put up. It is all make-believe. Their game is just to be petty and wait till the 31st of August - in a ploy to annoy the players involved and Barca. If that were not so why don't they play both players in their respective teams? Coutinho is DEFINITELY not injured with any back pains and we all know Dembele is deliberately refusing to return to Germany. Anyways, they would shoot themselves in the foot because they too would not have time to buy players they want to use to replace them. And even when they do, they would still pay through their noses for said players. |
hoopLA:I don't hold briefs for anyone but there are outliers to every argument or position. I am sure United would have coughed out the same £80M for CR7 today albeit he is 32. Zlatan was 35 last season and still notched up 28 goals in all competitions for United. Iniesta is 33 today and is a shadow of himself. Usain Bolts (although not a footballer but you get the point). The bell curve suggests that age more often that not will affect talented players with people like CR7 and Zlatan being the anomalies. Whether age was the sole reason City flopped last season is another debate entirely. Most of those fullbacks they had last season were purchased not later than 2011 and 6 years is a long time in football. |
sod09:My club's misery is your club's successful season. Arsenal FC = Home of Bums. Literally. ![]() |
sod09:They need Home grown talent plus Mangala is off to Inter. Johnny is 29. WBA want £35M for him but City offered £18M and now £22M. Nobody will give £35M for a substitute CB. |
iPopAlomo:When your grand mum is done juggling the ball hire her for your beloved Arsenal FC. Your team finished 5th last season and you are talking to me about problems. LOL Oya, buy the Draxler let him win the EPL for you same way Santi Carzola, Ramsey and Ox have been doing it for you north London duds. |
sod09:SMH. |
iPopAlomo:3 league titles in 4 years, 3 Spanish Cups, beating RM atleast once every season being a given but I have serious problems because they beat me 5-1 on aggregate. LOL. Let me remind you that only 2 seasons ago, I lost 5-1 to Athletic Bilbao in the same game only to finish the season with a league and Cup double. We are Barca; More than a club. You are Arsenal; Nothing but duds. |
sod09:Injury prone Draxler is an upgrade on 21 year old Lemar and Mahrez? OMG, you Arsenal fans deserve the failure that always comes your way. |
Man United about to snatch your Lemar. Spy360, what say you? |
I blame Valverde first and foremost. He got his tactics wrong in the first half. We looked disjointed both in attack and defense with the left flank ostensibly barren and nothing going on. We lacked urgency and really if RM were really at it, they would have really hammered us in the first half. Overall, it is clear Paco, Andre, Digne, Alba do not cut the mustard. Semendo on the other hand looks like a decent signing so far. Rakitic and even Busquets were particularly bad today. As per Suarez, he has continued with his clumsy play from last season. We really do need fresh legs and ideas at the moment so I welcome Coutinho and Dembele as well as Paulinho. We are still Barca; More than a club and we have been here before (2004, 2008, 2013). We always come back some how some way. |
Arsenal FC is clearly a bigger club than BVB Dortmund. One could even argue that they are bigger than Inter as well. Inter's 18 League titles are cosmetic dressing; they won 5 on the trot during the collapse of the Italian league following matchfixing allegations to Juve and AC Milan. The San Siro is not their exclusive preserve as they share it with AC Milan. They are no longer internationally more recognised than Arsenal, Worth far less and do not control the sort of followership (both social media and otherwise) that Arsenal FC does. I don't know what else can be used to rate which the bigger club is, but using UCL titles is grossly simplistic as Celtics, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest have done exactly that and are still minnows in the grand scheme of things. |
raumdeuter:Age is also more telling on defensive minded players. |
Nashoji:I would give you a pass because my post may have been ambiguous to you. What I meant is, until United play a team with a midfield that can create things even remotely, what you observed against West Ham was false. That same United midfield that appeared so dominant got swallowed up by RM without much fuss. Madrid played like they had many gears to get to. As per Man City, the performance against Brighton was good because Brighton played 11 men behind the ball all game and they were home. Such games last season, City drew. City vs Stoke comes to mind. I did not say that United were not improved- in fact I said they exactly are, but that anyone who thinks judging them after playing a hopeless, clueless and creativeless West Ham is as clueless as West Ham were yesterday. |
Delofeu is......... ![]() |
Lifeless performance from both teams. It appears we just about edge it in midfield. I don't understand how this RM team outplayed the fvck out of United the other day. Let them keep hyping them for beating WestHam sha. ![]() |
TheGoodJoe:Danilo cut in every time he had the ball. Either that or he passed the ball back. It was frustrating to watch. City need a natural LWB/LB. I don't fault him much too because he is a RB so he was playing out of position. |
dumininu01:You can't judge following how West Ham were creatively inept and asinine. I still think Chelsea will challenge for number 2 as they were last season's champions that still added 4 more players. Don't buy the hype of Peter and Tim Sherwood who generally talk out their arses. United are better than they were last season but so are others going to be. We should judge them after they play a team that has a functioning midfield like Real Madrid. Huddersfield would have beaten this same West Ham today. |
I warned you people about Bartomeu. You did not listen. ![]() Anyways, I still think Dembele would definitely come. |
You are not improving on what you had last year in terms of personnel yet you expect the results to change? LOL. |
Leyqute:Only snag is, one started his career coaching Barca. Imagine Valverde (assuming this was his first job) needing to replace Neymar and he signs say Coutinho for £90M. Would he be a cheque book manager? |
Leyqute:LOL. Jupp was told beginning of the season that Pep would replace him and he won a treble. Zizou was not sure the RM job would be made his permanently but he won the UCL. Pelle was 1st, 2nd and 4th in that order. He was declining. He could not attract the players he wanted. Rumors say KDB signed because he heard Pep would take the job. Pelle could not get his own product- Isco despite offering far more than RM. Pep was first after 10 games. Top 2 after 20. And finished with 79pts - 13 better than Pelle's last. Monaco won the league and got to 2 domestic finals scoring a ton of goals. They also got to the semis of the UCL. Pep got knocked out 6-6 on agg from a fortuitous Bakayoko goal. If Pelle's last season was better than Pep's then LVGs last season was waaaay better than Mou's. |
olabode89:He won the UCL with Porto (to me his greatest achievement in football) but could not replicate it in RM. So I wonder why Pep's UCL fiasco in Bayern is being over-trumpeted considering Carlo did worse than Pep just after but was able to outdo Mou in RM in the same situation. |
sebod:Neymar is childish. That much I agree. |
Leyqute:Only if Pelle had not bought Mangala, Bony, KDB, Sterling, Fernando, Otamendi, Delph and still finished 4th equal in points with LVGs United (66) just the season before Pep came. |
afrodoc2:Intelligent debate but slightly disingenuous. The 17 years of Mou's coaching history involves Benfica, UD Leira and Porto 3 Clubs which at the time had less than the spending capacity of QPR or Portsmouth Circa 2000-2004. That is 4 years off the 17 years you stated. Your maths should have been 1.229Billion/13 years. That is, 94.5 MILLION PER YEAR. So yes, Mou spends more per year. |
Roland17:Surely, this type of spending is not sustainable and that is why the clubs that are milking it are doing so ever so desperately. TV money will dry up - the experts say so and as a consequence money available for transfers will dwindle this collapsing the market. |
ollah1:€222M and you are asking for add-ons? Why do you think add-ons are provided at all? If Neymar leaves, kudos to him. The game is about money finally. He is better than whoever we would use to replace him but we can still get good players to work in our system. I have no grievances for him or his dad. Most of us here would do same. |
Man City was not the problem when United paid £89m for Paul Pogba. They were not the problem when United paid £90m for Lukaku. The market is the market and you have the windfall in TV revenue to blame for this. Lacazette was tagged at £55M only a season ago when Wenger inquired. This season he came cheaper so Wenger paid. Sure, some coaches are more desperate than others but they are not the one's carrying out the negotiations. This same Lemar because of whom Monaco just turned down €50m from Arsenal could depreciate in value this very season. Wenger and AFC should have offered this same money 2 months ago and Monaco would have accepted. It is clear they are playing hardball now but it would not last because the player in question wants to join Arsenal. To add to that, they know Wenger has more than met their valuation of the player. They just want to see if they can milk the process more. Who does not do that? Some say only Marcelo was more impressive than Mendy last season. Some others say Marcelo and Sandro. The question is, how much would you pay for Marcelo in today's market? |
SmooshCHN:I don't think he denied him his trade demand but only said he expected him to still show up at training camp regardless. Kyrie unfollowed Lebron on Instagram. Even if he stayed back this term it is fair to say their relationship is effectively done and dusted. |
raumdeuter:I need to reset my brain. |
Ney... The rest is silent. |
I am pretty sure Renato gave the through-pass that led to Bayern's 4th against AFC in the 5-1 win. I am pretty sure that pass went to Arturo Vidal who subsequently dinked the ball past the Colombian AFC keeper. |

LeBron can leave when he wants to but when Kyrie demands a trade, he has no say and better show up at Training camp.. Poor Kyrie, lebtards don't care or love you like that..
