RuuDie:Trust me, I am not worried. |
Emaprince:It is not about giving a game away. Was it Brighton you guys beat with your 2nd string players? Or that Europa cup tie I believe 2nd leg where largely unused players started? I mean, if Sarri was desperate for a win, Hazard starts etc. Those games Sarri felt he could get a result with the other string of players. That is what Pep assumed yesterday. Haba. |
HanksAnuku:Egbon, if that match was a do or die, he will take off one of those players for a more attacking or creative player. You know this. 1-0 down yet he made no changes till the 89th min. |
Leyqute:Those are the matches that are more critical. He cannot afford to Draw Crystal Palace. He needs a W there. He cannot afford to draw Tottenham in the league, he needs a W there. And the second leg of UCL he was almost never going to go past Tottenham without winning one of the ties..so why not save your best for your home game where you are virtually unstoppable? |
HanksAnuku:All these years in England and somehow the language is still your problem. Pep thought he could get a result with that team he put out. A result can be 0-0,1-1, 1-0 win. So even when he went down a goal, he did not panic he just continued to go according to plan which is why it was a gamble. Gamble like; I don't think I need my best squad to get a result here. |
popizaino:Every matchup is different and every team is different as well. The issue is not about scoring away, it is about converting your chances when they come. Barcelona vs CFC 2-2 is cosmetic. That game was 2-0 with Barcelona going through. Then the Defence messed up to let Ramirez go through out of nothing. At 2-1, Messi misses a penalty to put Barca ahead again on the tie. Then Alexis misses a sitter by putting the ball on the cross bar. Torres' goal to make it 2-2 comes at the last second when the game is over etc etc. Every fixture is different. I have seen Tottenham at their best this season and City at theirs. I know who my money is on. |
BikeMan:You people just hate Pep so much you refuse to be objective. Did he play his best squad yesterday? When last did Delph play yet he started him? When have you seen Pep trying to win a game with Gundogan and Fernandinho playing as holding midfielders together? Ok, after City conceded at the 79th minute why wait till 89th minute to bring in your best player in KDB and your best winger in Sané? If there is anyone who underrates anybody, it is you people who underrate Pep..alot. Pep is that top student in class who got a B- in the midterms and everyone concluded he was not going to be a straight-A student anymore. Those of us who have watched him for a while can tell you, when he studies, he not only becomes the class high, but will most likely get all the points and the bonus points as well. You can mark this post, I will remind you after the 2nd leg. |
patrickmuf:What is the correlation? The ATM that lost to Juventus is it the same one that got to 2 finals simply because it is the same Simeoné? I don't understand the point you are trying to make. Where was Poch's counter in the last meetings losing 3-1, 4-1 and 1-0? Simply say you are praying for City to go out. That is understandable. But as for all your conjecture above, ok. Please don't give excuses when Tottenham get bundled out. For e.g, don't say Kane was injured or that one got red card etc. Thanks. |
liveLongNprospa:Even if I am a fan, I try to be objective. Pep is not trying to win a game and leaves KDB and Sané on the bench till the 89th minute nor does he play Fernandinho and Gundogan with only Silva as the creative outlet. Or leaving Mahrez on till the 89th minute as well. He gambled that is my only conclusion. And this "virtual" away goal everyone keeps giving Spurs in their calculations. I don't know how it works. It is easier for City to win 5-0 than for Tottenham to lose 2-1 at the Etihad. If Tottenham were to qualify, trust me, you will see Angels on the pitch playing for them. |
popizaino:Of all the games City had going forward, this was the time to change lineup and gamble. The manager did. What Tottenham have played now is their best hand with their best ever squad at their best ever time in their best ever stadium. Now that is out of the way, there is nothing more for them to play again. City on the other hand have prioritised Crystal Palace, and other 2 Tottenham home fixtures which are at the Etihad. If you are asking me what City's chances of beating Tottenham are, I can categorically tell you, they will easily dispatch Tottenham. |
Roland17:Even if they are not chokers, I still remember them beating CFC 1-0 in the first leg of the Carabao cup semis at home and looked dishevelled in the 2nd leg when CFC were 2-0 up. |
Fraud was exposed again. Tried to switch argument to better centre half pairing. Some self-disrespecting jackals on this thread sef. ![]() |
Ibukzy:Hmm, please don't fall under the category of dumbos who cannot read. We are hosting 2 of them on this thread already. I said since Otamendi returned from Injury because he was actually injured when this season began. Then I said he has been the 2nd MOST because I knew Laporte has made the most appearances. |
IKON360:You and Hustle are bad specimens for Barca fans. So dumb and irresponsibly preemptive. Do you know how long I have been posting on this thread to need you, a nonentity, to gain relevance? Hahaha. That is a good one. ![]() |
Ibukzy:Same thing I told Andrew. Go and read the original post I am responding to. I am not discussing which Centre back pairing is better. Someone said Pep will not have played Pique etc because they are 30 and above. I was refuting the statement. |
IKON360:Per usual, your lies are found out so you clutch unto straws. As if Otamendi's position was being argued. This is coming from someone who was comparing Bravo to Ederson. LOL |
Ibukzy:Centre back. |
Olamyyde:He has been underrated because for some weird reason people just assume attacking teams that score so many goals are weak defensively. Since 2008/09 I can only think of one season where Barcelona did not concede the least goals in the league yet when anyone wants to describe our "weaknesses" they always talk about the defence. |
IKON360:Limit yourself to things you actually know. Stop annoying us with unchecked and false information all the time. There is no important game City played this season that Kompany was fit and he did not play. Otamendi has been the 2nd most consistent centre back for City this season ever since he came back from Injury. You have already spewed one false information and you want to use another false one to cover it up. In a more gruelling EPL, Pep has used older players even than what is currently at Barca. So your original post was a lie. Your rejoinder that Otamendi and Kompany do not start important games is another huge fat lie. |
andrew444:You still don't get the point. Read the original post I was responding to and revert. |
andrew444:You missed the point but no need to drag this issue further. And Kompany is 1986 whilst Pique is 1987. Just read the original post I was replying to understand context. |
andrew444:All players I listed are above 30 for City as well. Kompany is older than Pique. So the question about using aged players especially in a more gruelling EPL which requires a lot of running that Pep does. Which makes that post I quoted senseless, agreed? |
andrew444:Ok, how old are they? That was the question, abi? |
aliondo:Na KD did all that on his own. He wants to be a villain but then hates that he is being treated as one. See the media, hoping Kawhi and Walker and Kyrie, AD all play with Lebron, yet same media keep hounding KD for joining GSW. Double standards for days. |
jpmoriarti:Of course, nothing here can be backed up by data especially the laughable talk about defence. LMAO. The only thing to concede is as long as a coach is winning, whatever he is doing is right. Any other addendum is just fluff. |
IKON360:How old are Fernandinho, Silva, Kompany, Otamendi, Aguero? Don't worry, don't reply abeg. God bless you. |
Isomerizm:To commit murder dey hungry me aswear. |
Khanben:Giannis will win DPOY as compensation for not winning MVP which they will give to Harden. Trae Young deserves the ROTY IMHO. But it won't be wrong if Doncic wins it. I am leaning with Trae because the odds were firmly stacked against him but everyone else knew Doncic was legit. I agree with every other thing here. |
aliondo:It was KD himself who said he was tired of the good boy image. He will be fine. The media want to force him to leave because he is an easy target- mentally. |
SmooshCHN:Sometimes they do stuff like that to scare people. Since you said he was stabbed in the thighs I am guessing the fools did not think it could lead to that kind of finality. My thoughts are with his people through this harrowing time. During my NYSC, friend of mine was accosted for his car, he ceded the keys to the robbers who still shot him and he passed 3 days after. I made up my mind to leave Nigeria at that time. |
Sorry for loss SmooshCHN. The insecurity is everywhere jare last last na God hand we must dey to be truly secure. It is a shame though and never a day goes by where I don't say a prayer for my people back home. |
CuteRedd:The media just want the player to leave GSW sha. They are forcing the narrative from all angles. KD got more ejections last season than this one. And the ejection of last game or the Timberwolves game are on the refs who wanted us to lose by fire and by force against Minnesota. There is nothing much to read into it. KD is in his feelings because some media people still refer to Bron as the best player in the NBA (their excuse being KD is in GSW). Some even went as far as saying it is now Harden. With the type of person KD is, those things will get to him (remember him complaining about always being 2nd). As for all those KD, Kyrie rumors, they are all null and void. Same media were cock-sure Paul George was heading to LA to join Bron. LOL. How did that work out? A.D and Kawhi nko? LMAO. How many people here can beat their chests and say they knew Kyrie would demand a trade from Cavs when he did? None. Because players generally hide their intentions. So if KDs movement feels obvious, that is because there is most likely going to be none. |
