femiti:We will win the tie, I have no doubt in my heart. I am only saying it won't be as easy as we think. The way they play under OGS counters how we play somewhat except for individual moments of brilliance. |
HanksAnuku:The team that dominates and creates the most chances deserves to win. What is discombobulating about that statement? |
HanksAnuku:What is there to explain again? City deserved the win. They were better. Had so many chances and looked like they were going to win as soon as B.Silva scored. Swansea were unlucky because the penalty was soft and Aguero was offside but on the balance of play, City were good for the win. When United got that ghost penalty against PSG and via it, won the tie. That was an undeserved qualification because PSG had created far more chances and did not deserve to lose by 2golas on the day. |
HanksAnuku:I want to ask if understanding English is your problem. |
RuuDie:I am not even arguing the decisions. Aguero was offside it is that simple. But this is not a game where City are absolutely atrocious and use an offside goal to steal a win. From start to finish they were better and on another day should win this game 9-2. For someone to just ignore how well they played to conclude that the ref helped them is the kind of insufferable populist arguments people make on here. I remember 2011 when Barca beat Arsenal 3-1 and Wenger was whining about an undeserved red card to RVP for hitting the ball after the whistle. Pep's response was " for 90mins, Arsenal could not string 3 passes together". Some made a meme from the stats after that game and still use it to describe the most one-sided 3-1 defeat in UCL history. |
HanksAnuku: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-r5kbMH9fFc Watch from the 8 min mark. The Swansea coach declares who deserves the win. Tell him, he is talking nonsense as well. |
femiti:You say we will win if Messi does not turn up? I am not sure you have been watching either this Barcelona or United in the last one month. |
larride:Actually what you are saying means nothing because it is the team that dominates and creates chances that DESERVES to win. Were Swansea hard done by a bad decision? Yes. But that is not why they lost. They lost because City were evidently better and would have won the game regardless. A bad decision that made undeserved winners? PSG vs United is the place to start. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. |
Debroslink:I mean, if people want to complain about bad refereeing decisions, that is fine. But to claim that is the reason they lost is just pathetic. Someone even claimed Swansea had the game under control. Game that at 2-0 their keeper was the MOTM. |
Yea, Swansea deserved to win. After all, City only had 22 shots at goal. 9 on target. 69% of the ball. 13 corners to Swansea's one. Miraculous save after miraculous save for the keeper. Missed sitters and scoffed headers. Last ditch blocks from the centre backs of Swansea. Apart from these, Swansea fully deserved to win. |
Ozkar:Exactly. But now we are not that dynamic when pressed. It feels like Pogba can just run through the middle and Rakitic or Busi will not be able to stop him. Vidal will have to earn his money that day because he also has to be helping our RB just like he currently does (because Martial will play that wing for United). United's defence is weak even if they park the bus. We can create chances just like PSG did and hopefully with better finishing than Mbappé we can win it. But we cannot afford to concede a stupid goal. |
airmark:My bad, I thought you were saying he was announced EPL player for the month of February. |
Someone missed 2 games in February in which his team drew most of the games they played in that month yet he was voted player of the month. They should just announce him EPL player of the year since they are hellbent on giving him a trophy knowing full well that LFC will win nothing this season. Mtchewww. |
Ozkar:Not that they are prone to it, but because of how they are set up, if you win the ball from them at strategic places you can catch their defense in disarray. |
MJBOLT:Football is about matchups. Lyon's direct counter-attacking style matched up with City's possession based system just like Liverpool last season. So if such teams take their chances against City they could get a result. On other other hand, some teams don't match up well against them. If City had played Roma of last season they would have thrashed them home and away. United's style under OGS could be a problem to Barca based on how EV sets up. |
Isomerizm:Don't mind some of our fans boasting as if we beat Lyon at their ground even when we know that this United team is better than that Lyon team. |
tesppidd:People should just leave Juve one side. I don't get the hype. They have CR7 and Dybala and a somewhat solid defence. What else? They won't dominate the midfield against City and I don't even think they are that fantastic at counter-attacking. I don't fear Juventus at all. I even wanted us to face them than United. |
jonsnow92:I agree |
As usual, we have started boasting again. Fellow Cules please relax. We have not been a good away team and we are facing a United team that will willingly park the bus. We don't have any evidence that we have broken down teams that sit back and defend so we should hope for individual brilliance. United are also good on the counter with pacy players like Martial, Rashford and Pogba who can hurt us on the break. It won't be an easy fixture. Don't even deceive yourselves. We will win though. Hopefully. As per the next fixture, take it one step at a time. Liverpool will be × 2 more difficult than United because they don't need to play well to get chances. I know what I am saying. |
rationalmind:Score draw is hope? |
Isomerizm:We won today baba. Make we reason this matter on another day (if we lose). ![]() |
If your tactics is that Messi should dribble 5 players before scoring. You won't be a coach for long. If yours is that Rakitic must score long range goals, it will only be a matter of time before you are fired. That is why cross and nod coaches don't last for long. |
Joyless:Stop setting agendas. Love your players and criticize them when needed. Don't just dislike a player and make it your ambition to lampoon him at every turn. That is not consistent with being a true fan. |
IKON360:People don't realize that tap-ins signify tactics worked. Every coach wants to maximize their chance(s) of scoring by creating as many chances that can be tap-ins. |
calculator123:They overloaded his wing so I did not blame him. My anger was in the midfield which we lost during the first 15 mins of the 2nd half. |
Joyless:LOOOL. You obviously don't know who you are talking to. 5 year old will score tap in yet Aguero missed one yesterday. |
Isomerizm:Sometimes we just gast reply so that the narrative won't go far. |
Joyless:Dembele did nothing more than what Coutinho had already done - which is to score. Forget this your story. On the days Coutinho was poor I did not defend him. Today, he was anything but poor. |
Joyless:Coutinho was playing better than Messi until Messi scored his second goal. You people should due this false narrative and agenda. Wait for your players to play badly before criticising them. |
Like I said, For Messi's standard... ![]() |
Wells, there is a reason it is called Messi's standard. LOOOOL |
We lost the midfield in this game and for Messi's standard he has been poor. |
