Please some one help me answer this. I am currently on a student visa in another country. What should be my answer to this question?

During the past five years have you or any family member accompanying you lived in any country than your country of citizenship or permanent residence for more than six months?

U can choose to write both, SOP focuses on what u are planning to study, ur plans after study and all, let ur LOE focus on detail explanation of all submitted docs as to how it makes you qualify for study permit, ur personal assets, the totality of ur application, documents submitted by ur sponsor and all other supporting docs wud be duly explained. Let your explanation focus on how all you have submitted makes you qualify for d permit at the VO esteemed discretion

I understand better now...thank you very much

They serve same purpose, SOP is an essay and LOE is a letter, the tone of composition is quite different. Once again they serve same purpose but to me LOE is more detailed, it all depends on who is writing and what you writing on. Below is a link to guide you as of what a LOE is. I hope this helps

Thank you
So can I either choose just one? Or write both?

1.You may need a police certificate from any country or territory that you have spent six months or more since the age of 18.

check CIC link on this http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp

2. Check this link for a sample of SOP. im aware u asked for LoE but u can use this as a guide for urs as well.

Hello, someone please help me to analyze my profile.
I am currently an undergraduate(final year) studying naval transport/ engineering, cgpa about 4.3/5. I applied for masters in ocean and naval architectural engineering at mun. Even though I was contacted by a supervisor, I couldn't accept because He only wanted a student urgently for May admission but I'm yet to graduate (July)I . I was really anxious to know about the admission results so I contacted the office and I was told that I wasn't admitted (unofficially though a letter has been mailed to my address)so I don't know the reason yet.so I requested for a transfer to a professional diploma in technology in naval architecture in the same school do you think I stand a chance to get the TRV?

Good evening house, I am a bit worried after receiving this mail from the school i applied to. I applied for MENG in mechanical engineering, university of Saskatchewan. Please house from experience how do i go about tackling this.

"Your application has been carefully reviewed by faculty members in your research area. They have considered not only the degree program for which you applied, but all programs for which you are eligible. Unfortunately, since no faculty members have indicated a willingness to accept you as a graduate student, we cannot admit you. If you are successful in identifying a faculty member who is interested in supervising your graduate program, we can reactivate your file
Please note that applicants cannot be admitted to any graduate program unless a faculty member is willing to supervise them and offer them a place in their research group. Even if an applicant meets all of the admission requirements, this is no guarantee that they will be admitted, since admission is contingent on finding a supervisor. Admission to our program is very competitive: we receive about 150 applications per year, yet our 19 faculty members have openings for only about 20 new students each year".

We would like to sincerely thank you for your interest in our department, and wish you well in your future career.

Regards.

Graduate Admissions
Department of Mechanical Engineering
University of Saskatchewan

Hello, you are required to look for supervisors from the faculty by yourself.this is the major admission requirement of university of Saskatchewan

cool, I might give it a shot for next fall semester, since the deadline for this fall is closed.
What did you studied in your bachelors degree

cool, so you took a leap of faith and applied without a supervisor yet, did you have any prior research experience, conference papers, journals and the likes.
The department does not require you to look for a supervisor but it increases your chances of getting admitted.if you are considered eligible by the school of graduate studies the department will match you with available supervisors
