Ebonyi House dissolves LG

Chairmen, others By Peter
Okutu ABAKALIKI – BARELY a month
and some weeks to the
general election, Ebonyi state
House of Assembly Tuesday
dissolved the newly
appointed 13 local government Caretaker
Committee Chairmen and the
28 Development Centre
Coordinators appointed by
Governor Martin Elechi. The lawmakers hinged their
resolution on the ground that
the nominees were not
screened by the House.
According to them, that the
appointment of the 13 care- taker committee chairmen by
the Governor was
undemocratic and
unacceptable within the
ambit of the law. The affected Commissions
include; the Local Government
Service Commission,LGSC,Civil
Service Commission,CSC,
Secondary Education
Board,SEB, and the Universal Basic Education Board,UBEB.
The House directed the
dismissed officers to hand
over all government property
under their possession to
their Head of Personnel Management and Accounting
officers before the close of
work today(yesterday). They also ordered the Ebonyi
State Police and the anti-graft
agencies,the Economic and
Financial Crimes
Commissions,EFCC, and
Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related
Commission,ICPC, to
investigate the financial
transactions of the affected
political office holders since
they were sworn in. Also,Governor Elechi was
ordered to before January 9,
submit a comprehensive
records of the internally
generated revenue and
federal allocation received and how they were spent
since January, 2014.
