Jason went inside the house. He was really angry. Mille had told me how defensive of her he could get but I had never witnessed it first hand. Everyone went in one after the other. I was left alone with Elliot.
"You're welcome Elliot and thanks for ruining my night."
"Wait Gee. I'm sorry,I really am."
I just stared at him like he was a ghost.
"I got you a gift Gee."
I missed that. Elliot loved calling me Gee.
"Let's go to my room. I dropped it there."
"Na wa o. He barely came back and he has mind to say 'my room' " I thought as I followed him upstairs. He brought out a small box from his drawer and handed it to me.
"Thank you Elliot."
"You're more than welcome." I turned to leave the room.
"Won't you open it?"
"Not yet. I'll..."
"Gloria!" Mum yelled.
"Yes mum" I left the room "Where are you mum?"
"My room." She yelled back.
I went there and she was pacing.
"What is it mum?"
"Niel isn't picking my calls Gloria. He took Mille with him."
"Mum relax. I'm sure they're fine."
"Did you just say sure? Your brother can do silly things when he's angry and you know it."
"They'll be fine mum. Mille's phone is in her purse and it's in my room. Maybe Niel left his phone at home too. Rest your head first."
"Gloria if only you're a mother you'll understand what it means." The mood wasn't just right for any stories so I left her. I dropped the gift in my room and headed downstairs.
"We'll be leaving Gloria. Tell your mum okay?" Uncle Liam said.
"Alright uncle. Thanks for coming. I'm sorry for the drama you had to witness.
"It's okay child. These things happen." He replied.
"What about Mille and Niel?" Aunt Liz asked.
"Sincerely,I can't guess where they are right now." I answered.
"Jamille's at home mum. I can feel it." Jason put in.
I almost laughed. How on earth could someone feel where another person was.
As if reading my thoughts Jason said "Twins always have a connection Gloria."
I nodded.

Jathniel

"He's my twin brother and his name is Elliot like you heard."
"Niel,I know that already." She said.
"Since we were little,he had always been the troublesome one. I was a lot more quiet and I can't count the number of times I got punished for him."
"And you kept quiet?" She asked.
"You yourself has seen how alike we look."
"Yeah. If you had left my side,I wouldn't have known the difference."
I laughed "Same applied to my dad. My mum knew the difference between us from day one but she always chose to defend Elliot all the time."
"Do you have any idea why?" She asked.
"Elliot was never as strong as I was from birth so she felt she had to protect him no matter how naughty he got."
"Oh I see. So what made him leave?"
"He left after our father died. My dad willed the company to me while all his other properties were willed to Gloria and Elliot. Obviously,he wasn't satisfied. He had access to everything mum had. Somehow, he tricked her and emptied her account."
"Seriously?"
"Yes Mille. He emptied her account and also took more than half of her jewellery. Mother wept her heart out. She even got sick thinking of him. I suffered for my mum. I went up and down trying to help her get better. It took some months but she finally got over it. I've been enjoying my life since then and now,Elliot shows up to ruin everything. You see why I got mad?"
"I understand Niel and I'm so sorry."
"It's okay. Any more questions my lady?"
She laughed and said "Yes."
"And what would that be?"
We heard a car horn honk.
"I guess they're back." She announced. Their new gateman opened the gate.
They drove in and we got up to welcome them.
"Well, it seems Jason was right after all. You guys ran here." Uncle Liam said.
"Yes Uncle. I'm sorry about what happened at the house."
"It's okay son."
Jason and Mille were hugging like they hadn't seen each other in decades. I wondered when Elliot and I would become as united as they were.
"Jason let Mille be. Let them finish their discussion."
"No uncle. It's late and I have to get home."
"Bye son." Uncle Liam and Aunt Liz chorused.
"Bye Jathniel. Mille escort him na." Jason said and that earned him a playful punch from Mille.
She escorted me.
"When will I see you again Niel?"
"Tomorrow my lady."
"Alright. Have a great night." She said.
I gave her hand a gentle squeeze.
"Have a night that's better than great your highness."
She laughed "Go jor. Remember we have one more question to solve tomorrow."
"Yes ma."

"Elliot?"
"Jathniel." He replied.
"What the hell are you doing here Elliot?"
"Gosh! It's my only sister's birthday of course. I had to come here."
I laughed. "So after four solid years,you remember today that March 17 is Gloria's birthday right?"
He ignored me and came closer to where Mille and I stood. Mille was watching us with her mouth agape. He stopped right before Mille. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
"Respect yourself Elliot."
I opened my eyes to see his palm on Mille's cheek. The poor girl was just staring with her eyes wide open at him. I threw a punch at his face immediately. He staggered backwards.
"Jathniel! What the hell was that for?" He said,caressing the part of his face I punched.
"Never you,Elliot,I said never you lay a hand on her again in your life."
The idiot smiled at me.
"I see she's your latest catch. Don't I get to know her better?"
"Elliot!" I yelled and his grin became even wider. Mum and Gloria came running to where we were. Behind them were the others. Elliot didn't see them coming because he was backing the doorway.
"Relax Jathniel. Isn't she a little bit too young for you to destroy her life like you did the others?"
I kept mute and he continued.
"Come on bro. You're silent now. For your information,I wasn't ready to struggle any company with you so I left."
"Shut up Elliot. You're a bloody liar. Get out of here before I lose the last iota of sense left in my brain."
He laughed. "Jathniel, Jathniel. You never change." He turned to Jamille. "I'll surely get you pretty face."
Before I could say Jack Robinson, Mille landed a heavy slap on his face.
"I will not let you humiliate me Elliot or whatever you call yourself." She said with tears in her eyes and my heart sank. It was at this point that mum yelled. "Elliot that's enough." He spun around to meet several pairs of eyes watching him. He pulled the trick he was notorious for since we were both little.
"Mum,I didn't do anything. You saw when this lady slapped me."
Jason pushed his way through them and before Elliot knew what was going on,he was on the floor.
I pulled Jason away from him.
"How dare he lie against my sister?" Jason yelled. Aunt Liz came forward to pacify him.
"Elliot,how could you?" Mum was sobbing.
"Mum,I..."
"Let me finish Elliot. I let you come here after you promised you'd be good and now you do this."
"What?! Mum so this was a conspiracy between you two."
"No son. You can't call it a conspiracy."
"Fine , get me a better word then. You knew he was coming and you didn't even say a word."
"I just wanted to surprise you son."
"I must say you did both. You surprised me and yet you didn't surprise me. You know Mille's birthday means a lot to me and you still went ahead to allow this thing visit at this time on this day of all days."
"I am not a thing." Elliot retorted.
I ignored him. "Yet,you didn't surprise me with your action. You've always loved Elliot more than me. You thought I never noticed right? I won't be surprised if you allow him kill me on the eve of my wedding."
I held Mille by the hand and took her inside. I grabbed my keys from my room and went out. Neither of us said a word as I drove with no particular destination in mind. I was driving at 40km/h. I looked in her direction and the tears were dropping ever so slowly.
"Why didn't you tell me Niel?" She asked.
"I don't know. Maybe I was just waiting for the perfect moment."
"Where are you driving us to?"
"I don't know. I'm just driving."
"Take me home Niel."
"Mille, I..."
"Home Niel."
I kept quiet and drove her home. When we got there was when she realised that the key was in her purse and we left it at the house. She suggested we stayed in the sit out till they came back. The security lights were on so it wasn't all dark.
"Mille,I'm really really sorry."
"For what Niel?"
"Everything that happened this evening. I never imagined Elliot would show up tonight."
"Tell me about him." She said quietly,almost in a whisper.
"About who?"
"Elliot. I'm interested in him."
"You're what?"
She smiled and placed her hand on mine. "I didn't mean it in that way Niel. I meant I'm interested in his story."
