Dude you know nothing about South Africa's media, I highly doubt that you've read any South African Newspapers, because then you would know how brutally honest those guys are, our media isn't censored or controlled, if it was controlled then the ANC wouldn't be trying so hard to pass the Secrecy Bill, they want to control our media, because they know that our guys say whatever they want.
indeed now?,what a pity then, because any sensible media should be censored!,the amount of information and secrets each country has to hide could be used against such a country in a diplomatic spat{or even in a time of war}.i'm all for freedom of speech and media rights, but the line has to be drawn somewhere!.

Your words are a disorganised waste of life's precious moments by an angry lunatic. Not worth addressing.
Meanwhile, the "bad" media is at it again:
(CNN) - Boko Haram laughed off Nigeria's announcement of a ceasefire agreement, saying there is no such deal and the abducted schoolgirls have been converted to Islam and married off. lipsrsealed
http://edition.cnn.com/2014/11/01/world/africa/nigeria-boko-haram-denies-deal/
We all know who actually fed the world propaganda about a non-existent ceasefire. Clue? It was not CNN that originated that non-story.
http://www.naij.com/309252-president-obama-reacts-to-fg-boko-haram-ceasefire-deal.html
why would obama confirm the cease fire between nigeria and boko-haram if it didnt exist?,foolish illerate, boko haram has many units,of course it was inevitable that not all the break away cells will agree to the cease fire, even if the cease fire were to to enacted, there would still be some pockets of isolated violence.i never supported the cease fire anyway.

@dievlait,the novel you wrote is meaningless, you call the NA weak and cowardly, but what about the SANDF,a defence force:
(i)that was sent out of CAR after been stripped, smacked around and kicked in the butt like naughty dogs.the SANDF ran out of CAR with tail firmly tucked between trembling legs, back home.
(ii)that begged the cubans for a cease-fire after a bunch of cuban schoolgirls and adolescent boys connived with angolan cavemen to beat them purple and send them running bare-footed back to pretoria.
(iii)cant protects its rhinos from a bunch of greedy thieves
(iv)cant protects their immediate neighbours from pirates
i could go on listing the ills of your so called defence force, but i'm rather very busy.at least the NA hasnt lost or conceded defeat in any warfare or regional conflict.you can froth and huff and puff as much as you want, but typing thinnly veiled insults, which you had thought were 'intelligently' concealed does not bother me.even your president confessed that saffers were daft and lazy

What is your opinion?,will power change hands before 2030?,will military power shift from the west?,will NATO crumble?.render your opinion.

Anyway, I didn't know that Nigerian political parties could influence Reuters and BBC and that they could be used to "distract people from Obama's and Cameron's foolishness" (your words). I think Nigeria is then the third force in global politics.

Your answer to the question why the media would lie is weak and disorganised because in reality, you have no answer.
the media do post out misleading reports, there have been instances where a particular news agency report unconfirmed speculation or assumption, then later come back to retract their statement, some of them dont even bother retracting their claims,so what are you saying?,thing is,the media is fickle.

And don't try and comparie SA and Nigerias state corrupstion. The world knows how bad nigeria is.
SA runs an almost fascist political system, with a weak{almost non-existent} opposition, and a grossly corrupt government.point of correction, nigeria isnt as corrupt as it was 10 years ago,the foreign media still rates nigeria in context of the past.nigeria isnt even near the most corrupt countries.

You speak as if the Nigerian media is lying, which is not true. Why would all or most media houses lie? The image is definitely battered, with multiple news of soldiers fleeing, human right abuses, mutiny in the barracks etc.
South Africa media reports EVERYTHING, so you don't really have to imagine. Everything is out in the open and we South Africans have no issue with that. We welcome it.
As for morale, Nigerian soldiers themselves have complained of low morale, so it is a problem. http://www.punchng.com/news/boko-haram-soldiers-complain-of-poor-welfare-motivation/
SA is different from nigeria,in SA the political atmosphere is abysmal at best, with an almost one-sided ANC dominated government, while in nigeria the political atmosphere is diverse and competitive, the PDP has different views from the APC,APGA,UPN,CCNP,Accord party etc.these parties can influence different parts of the media{western included}.that article is outdated, the military's morale is high.

Maybe it will be retaken, but the damage to morale and image is already done. This is not any other town, there's a military base there and soldiers fled the base, leaving weapons behind.

A military that is inaccessible to the media becomes a repressive military. As long as actual operations are kept secret, there's no harm in reporting on things like Mubi, which are reported on after the fact.
hmm...perhaps,but i dont think morale is a problem for the NA,and point of correction, the NA's image is not damaged,if the NA has a damaged image, then i can only imagine what the image of the SANDF is like.the media is causing more harm than good with their destructive reports, especially the western media that continually uses these false news to distract people from obama and camerons' foolishness.

Boko haram will surely be put to rout, mubi will soon be retaken.the NA shouldnt be giving the media access to military operations, military information should only be deceminated to the public by the DHQ.personnally,i'm of the opinion that the media shouldnt be allowed to report or witness anything about military operations going on in the NE.
