patches689:of course, when your argument is been trashed, you wouldnt respond to it.i suppose this is the point where you ask for link and citation,it baffles me why you cant simply go to wikipedia and type 'the biafran war' to see the proof you so love, then again,i remember that saffers are most renown for being lazy and docile or could it be that you fear the truth?..hmm..i wonder, perhaps you fear that your flimsy arguements are going to be torn to tatters in front of hard facts! |
patches689:*snorts*the angolan-cuba vs. south african war wasn't a legitimate war, that was a few cuban girls been thrown together with angolan vigilante bushmen to successfully defeat the weak SANDF,the biafran war on the other hand was a conventional civil war, biafran soldiers received the same training and tutoring that the nigerian soldiers had, they had the support and funding of the west ,most especially france.they had sophisticated weapons that were formally part of the national armoury, they had a naval advantage and they were able to mobilize a huge and formidable military force,at that time their region was one of the two richest regions in nigeria(the second being the south-west),yet they were eventually starved and defeated, they surrendered and their leader fled.even when the chadians tried to invade nigeria, they were chase deep into their territory.the SANDF have never witnessed any of such aggressions, empty boast |
patches689:you havent lost a war because you havent fought a real war, nigeria on the other hand have fought real wars and havent lost before.biafran soldiers?,go back to your history class. |
DieVluit:if the NA with all our numbers is overstretched, then i can imagine what state the SANDF will be in,especially with battalions in C.A.R.,sudan and some fighting rhino poachers,so in your mind you think boko haram is a 'ragtag' group?,a terrorist organisation that has cells scattered from mali, through niger, chad to cameroon,a terrorist organisation that is recognised and blacklisted by the UN and US,a terrorist organisation funded by international islamic activist from notable arab countries.you must either be ignorant or in denail. |
DieVluit:you are still getting it wrong, yes i would consider myself new to the thread(though i've been following this thread since the beginning of the year),but common sense is not limited to new or old members of the thread,NA didnt 'flee' as alleged by cameroon and a section of the media,if they ran away they wouldnt have confronted boko haram again, you saw the video, now boko haram is seeking cease-fire! |
DieVluit:what are you saying, nigerian troops never ran away from boko haram, havent you heard of the term 'tactical retreat'?,boko haram have mastered the terrain perfectly, the NA was pinned at all sides in a well planned and crafted ambush and assault, the NA had two options(1)to break formation and press into enemy lines at all sides{which while it would have taken down hundreds of terrorists,is still folly as the whole place was rigged and they were outnumbered without immediate ground reinforcement, and no space to manouver} or (2)retreat backwards into cameroonian territory to avoid been completely surrounded, what did you expect them to do?,charge into the fray into certain death by ambush or retreat to fight another day?,why did the SANDF retreat when they recieved enough pummelling from seleka rebels?.fighting terrorists isnt conventional warfare, its about effective strategy and surgical strikes! |
patches689:you should try to always temper down your urges to tell 'false truths',do you consider your dormant troops in sudan as an active 'battalion'?,pray tell me,what job is this 'battalion' of yours doing?,they are dormant soldiers, just like nigeria still has dormant troops in liberia and seirra leone!,send troops into somalia and libya,i would have thought zuma will send battalions into libya after all the noise and hot air he blew during the libyan 'revolution',at least to save his face.nigeria has peace keeping troops in somalia and south sudan under the AU task force aegis, apart from that we are fighting terrorism at home!,you cant expect us to continue doling out battalions like chocolate bars!,what is south africa doing?,simply nothing! |
Henry240:indeed,and they come here to deny facts and proof.they can only have mouth in C.A.R.,why dont they send battalions into somalia, south sudan and libya, especially libya,as zuma was very vocal in his disagreement with nigeria and NATO during the toppling of muammur ghadaffi's government, probably because ghadaffi sponsored his election to power.*in zuma's voice* "african problems must be resolved using african solutions",how lamer can an arguement get? |
http://www.nytimes.com/1998/09/23/world/tiny-neighbor-gives-south-african-army-rude-surprise.html the lesotho rebels put the SANDF under so much fire, they couldn't ferry their defeated troops back home |
patches689:you were chased away from the BATTLEFIELD,i never said that the SANDF was walked out of C.A.R. by rebels(not yet),early this year the south african government sent reinforcement into C.A.R. when it was obvious that the troops are been chicken-chased all over C.A.R. by a ragtag rebel group,as for lesotho, well south africa eventually invaded, conquered and held lesotho(togo can do that!),but it is a shame indeed that SANDF were withstood in the initial assault by an army of cooks. |
the south african military repelled and chased away from the battlefield confused http://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2013-03-25-sa-troops-killed-in-central-african-republic-why-mr-president/ lesotho's army withstood, defeated and repel the SANDF as the SANDF scramble around trying to stuff their defeated soldiers into helicopters to escape the massacre http://www.nytimes.com/199u/09/23/world/tiny-neighbor-gives-south-african-army-rude-surprise.html really,i never knew that the SANDF was this pitiful. |
@henry,augugaust,any latest update on beegeagle's blog?,i cant seem to find the correct page. |
iterator25:that true, nigeria contribute the most troops to the UN than any other african country. |
ActivateKruger:what are you saying, throughout this ebola saga, you saffers havent raised a finger either by contributing funds and or health personnels, saying "it is an ECOWAS problem,it is in nigeria's jurisdiction",your troops in DRC lack basic amenities,so what responsibilities do you bear? |
DieVluit:what are you saying, what 'hate and racism' are been 'spewed'?,arent the people on this thread africans(blacks)?,so what racism do you accuse 'newcomers' of perpetrating?,has anyone on this thread shot the other dead over an arguement?,so what hate to you claim exists?...this thread is just a way to catch fun and get interesting information about perculiar events all over africa!,i personally come here looking for any intellectual topic to amuse myself. |
@mod,use this 'veto' you are so obviously in awe of,very reasonably while it lasts,if you close this thread, another will be opened, preferably in politics section where the mods actually have basic education of most of the topics posted.if nairaland mods insist on relishing in their childish pleasures by constituting nuisances themselves, then its best to leave you to govern empty space. |
http://www.naij.com/311504-cameroonian-military-kill-39-boko-haram-insurgents.html this is another welcome news by the cameroonians military, but the trend it follows is indeed curious,i have noticed that whenever nigerian defence headquaters announce a success against boko haram, the cameroonians almost immediately release their own press report claiming that their troops have also killed a robust number of insurgents, its really amusing to watch cameroon proposing to rub shoulders with the nigerian army, perhaps they take the war against terrorism for an inter-national rivalry.especially during the shekau saga, shekau was killed in konduga, two days later the same shekau was "allegedly" killed in cameroon?,really it is amusing indeed. |
kudos to the gallant nigerian armed forces, soon boko haram will become a thing of the past and nigeria will be called in to deal with ISIS/ISIL.Nigerian armed forces reclaim abadam http://www.naij.com/311420-military-recapture-abadam-kill-dozens-of-boko-haram-insurgents.html |
