rabazamba:Thanks dear. I have been off Nairaland for a while now. But I will soon start putting up my short stories in this section ![]() |
Some people haven't realized that self-delusion is not patriotism. By continously rationalizing the incompetence of the elites, you unwittingly enable the fifth columnists to continue perpetrating their evils. I rise. |
CoolOne1:Oh, is that from a legit source(bringing the credentials on the day of entrance exam)?. I know entrance exam can't be this Saturday because registration closes next week Monday. |
CoolOne1:Yes it is. Admission will likely start by February ending. |
ademijuwonlo:Mist this be done before the closing date of the postgraduate application?. Because that is very soon. Please reply your mail. |
Ujawissy:Hello, I applied for the OAU masters programme yesterday. I don't understand something though, do I forward my credentials (photocopies) along with the transcript through my undergraduate school?. Or how will I get my credentials to the PG school? I just sent you a mail, let's connect via WhatsApp. |

@ lalasticlala, these are the type of topics that should be on FP now. Please do the needful, let people get educated. @OP, I owe you a big kiss. You really did a good work on the article. |
ABCHDE:Na wa for you o. Are you sure you don't need rehab?. |
Report from various human rights groups and civil society observers have confirmed that what happened in Kogi state was a shameful display of gunpoint democracy. People butchered, ballot snatching, even the police and military have been implicated in the ruse that took place. In one polling station, a helicopter was used to rain down bullets and disperse voters. That wasn't an election and I hope the court orders a rerun or declare the third runner-up as winner, because both PDP and especially APC employed all manners of irresponsible tactics on election day. |
SamuelAnyawu:I don't think that should stop you from posting authentic information here, those who understand the value of true information without prejudice will really appreciate it. Please continue commenting here, personally, I appreciate having info on what is really going on in the NE. It only takes a little intelligence to discern truth from lies at the end of the day. |
AkwalaIke1:People like you are why the government is currently considering regulating social media, what is the point of this insultive post on your President?. |
The Honourable Justice clearly ruled that the allegation brought forward by the prosecution counsel lacked substance and is merely a ploy to harass the defendant. So what is this lawyer saying?. It seems the Dakolos have money to waste on pointless legal battles and eventual damages that will follow for impetously wasting the time of the court. The law has no room for emotions. |
How the hell did we concede a goal to those bunch of squirells ![]() |
Blue3k2:That is a nice development, why are the people against it?. As for not exporting to Nigeria, such action is naturally not feasible. The political implications and the system of our power sector wouldn't allow that. |
Ghana should look towards exporting more of the excess power generated to west African neighbors; Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, and Togo. Issues such as government agencies owing utility bills should be vigorously checked, Nigeria has a similar challenge. Also, payment of electricity bills by residential properties and businesses should be addressed, I assume that electricity bills are grossly under-payed by the people who are enjoying the power. |
waynejesus: You Nairaland peeps can be funny. |
Excuse me house, I want to know how one can use Alexa to check CPC or traffic of a site. I came across this thread and decided to experiment, so I just parked a site at bodis now. I bought it on Goddady for $0.99. It's a dot com site, but I don't know if it will attract that much to earn money from parking. |

I am new here |
It really baffles me that while folks here are conversing over issues on defense procurements, hardware specifications and the total mess going on in the North East, it seems those in power do not see the extent of trouble we have gotten ourselves into. Read a few days ago where the President openly boasted that BH/ISWAP has been "substantially defeated". I don't know what the red necks are telling the C-in-C, but it's either we the onlookers are grossly over-estimating the situation or the President is simply playing politics, or even worse, the President is not fully aware of the proportion of this conflict, I suspect a little of the second and third. What would even be more terrible is if the "defense planners" are truly ignorant of current realities, because it looks as if the brass have their faces so firmly planted in the President's a.ss that they can no longer see beyond those bony butt-cheeks. I hope I am wrong though. For the sake of the country. |
No matter how dark room wan be, man go still locate woman breast You no need cutlery to chop slap |
Toju200:After so many years of repeating the same thing, boredom and apathy sets in. But hopefully we will see a Henry360 here sometime in the future. |
olawaleseun:There is the possibility of identifying moderate elements within the BH/ISWAP camps and working with them in a bid to create a pacified space. If we can accommodate factions of these insurgents who are willing to convert their armed agitation into a wholly political one; allow them set up an islamic political party and perhaps give them a few parliamentary seats. You see, this war has many dimensions and those dimensions keep getting complex as it rages on. There are thousands of the local population within the North East area who are in covert support of the fundamental ideology that BH/ISWAP espouses. You cannot win a war of ideology using ammunitions. If people believe in these things, then the best approach is to find a common ground because you cannot force them to stop believing. However, the flaw here is that this approach could open up other conflicts within the country and lend credence to the perception that a section of the country is trying to islamize the nation. Alternatively, we have to counter ideology with superior ideology. The government should have an understanding with some liberal islamic clerics, who will serve as vehicles for disseminating the right information/propaganda. We should fund moderate islamic preachings to be aired on radio and TV on daily basis, teachings that denounces the doctrines championed by BH/ISWAP. Financial insensitives and food aids can be disbursed to people through these clerics in order to strengthen the popularity of their teachings and serve as a counter-balance to BH/ISWAP. Government must be willing to channel funds towards this area. Poverty and illiteracy are the machines that power the insurgency in the NE. These are issues that must be tackled in the long term. Free basic and secondary schools should be set up (I believe the North has a lot of them already), and laws should be passed making it a criminal offence to not send your children to school in that region. Almajiri system should be proscribed. A zakat tax system should be set up under existing sharia law(supervised by a sharia council which would be headed by a grand khadi), and the funds gotten from public payment of zakat should be channeled into funding education. In the next 20-30 years, we should see at least 80% literacy level in the region. On the military front, we seriously need to commit more funds into acquisition of MRAPs to reduce the unfortunate incidence of ambushes. I support Ugo, the army cannot currently afford, operate or maintain aerial assets in an effective manner. Instead, we can seek alternatives by procuring IFVs and portable PGMs to protect our FOBs. |
SamuelAnyawu:Well, as a far-flung observer, I can hardly differentiate between truth and illusion in these matters. I imagine that there should be proper verification and clearance given to NGOs by the Directorate of Military Intelligence or as approved by the ONSA, without which a NGO should not be allowed to operate within the region. In furtherance to that, since the area is under martial law, the military has to look into random and periodic inspection of NGO facilities. Measures that can go a long way in preserving national security and even safeguarding the operations of the NGOs. |
bidexiii:I don't think many of these NGOs see these terrorists the way we see them. To them, these insurgents are mere victims of the endemic poverty and religious indoctrination in the North East. So when the fighters come stumbling into NGO camps with severe injuries and jutting necklines of malnourishment, do the NGOs turn them away? No, they treat them and give them food. Why don't they hand them over to the authorities afterwards?, maybe it's because if they do that, they'd end up losing the trust of the insurgents and becoming targets of retaliatory attacks. However, this could be considered as sabotage on the side of the military and the nation, because in the end, however good intentioned the actions were, they are still helping the enemy. There is the twist where some of these NGOs could be working against the war efforts as the army has claimed. They could be fronts used by external forces to keep the conflict raging. From this point,it is a little hard to tell. |
