Patchesagain:
In otherwords, you made those stats up?
no,no,you misunderstand me,those stats werent made up,they are facts of current events in the north eastern theatre of war.
recently, someone posted a picture of a convoy of igirigi APCs lining the roads of maiduguri, the APCs numbered in dozens, and they were all brand new.
so that alone corroborates my arguement that the Nigerian defence industry has stepped up its manufacturing capacity to about 15%.

All your defence industries are still infants when it comes to arms production in the world.
perhaps, but the whole point of being an 'infant' is growth,we are rapidly growing.
perhaps there will come a time when you will be proud of your rightful root.

Msauza:
SA has a modernised defence industry that maintains their obsolete weapons. Nigeria's defence industry is still a baby and has not even provided your military with over 5% of locally produced weapons. All the so called weapons you claim to be produced in Nigeria are all imaginary.
Global firepower website even openly admit that there is no military in Africa that uses the kind of sophisticated and modernised weapons that South Africa has. Produced 100% in local defence industries.
Where does Nigeria stand.
We stand above mediocrity.
All the weapons i highlighted are indeed produced by either DICON or PROFORCE.we produced less than 5% of our weapons, however that was during peacetime.but now because of the war against terror,we now produce 15% of our military gadgets, most of them APCs,grenades, armoured vests and drones.

Because your weapons aren't wanted. Simple.
You want South African weapons. You've even had your millions seized trying to get them.
Our weapons are wanted, but arent yet needed, there will come a season of revolution, when our defense industry will bloom like a lily.
That is when our weapons will be needed, take for example our indigenous APC,the Igirigi; is currently undergoing unique transformation that is going to lead to the production of another more sophisticated variant which features a unique armour and more powerful capabilities.
We are rising at a rapid pace my friend, prepare for a diplomatic coup.

A puppy is also growing but it's still a puppy.

A 40 year old giant is still a giant but he's ageing.

A puppy is not a giant. Nigeria is a puppy.
A cub grows to become a lion.
while a giant ages and bends, becoming frail and dispersing in a thin wisp of the wind.
Our defense industry is an arousing lion, waiting to greedily devour any aggressor f00lish enough to dare challenge us in combat.

"Declining" does not mean not powerful.

"Growing" does not mean powerful.
"Declining" means growing less powerful as the years go by,eventually leading to a collapse.
"Growing" means becoming more powerful, formidable and sophisticated as the years go by,eventually leading to a ultimate establishment.

The US does not procure weapons from Nigeria.
South Africa does not procure weapons from Nigeria.
Because nigeria has a fledging defense industry,we neither produce tanks nor do we manufacture supersonic combat jets.
though we build APCs,surveillance drones, mine detecting robots, body armour, rifles, touch sensitive mines, time and trigger bombs, patrol and combat vessels, with remedial capacity to begin manufacturing IFV,AFV,low orbit satellites, light armoured tanks,OPVs,and MRAPs
but all these are barely of enticable capabilities enough to attract powerful militaries like the US.
As for SA,well, south africa is known to have a lackadiasical disposition toward weapon procurement.many of SA's military gadget are worn, outdated and poorly maintained, with no light at the end of the tunnel for its rapidly shrinking and poorly secured defense industry.
Nigeria could care less if SA procures weapons from us.

I stopped reading where you said "ordered from South Africa" and where I realised this can only mean Nigeria's military is only starting to get a pulse now. Just.
Pathetic military.
Ok.
Even the US procures weapons from other less powerful countries.
moreover, most of the defense companies in SA are directly owned by western countries who use south africa as a springing board to propel their defense enterprises into the african continent.
i see no weakness in the Nigerian DHQ ordering for military logistics from a few foreign defense contractors operating in SA.

Egypt isnt the most powerful arab country, infact, judging by the series of socio-economic and political instability plaguing the country,i would venture to conclude that egypt has a declining military due mostly to abrupt change in leadership, massive corruption in military sector, poor maintainance of military weapons,ideo-religious uncertainties, and sluggish weapon procurement policy.
Also, overdependence on its alliance with the world most formidable military super power- The US,has led to a steep decline in the military's hardware procurement outreach, unwittingly shutting out countries who's views diverge from that of its biggest ally.

How does this address the fact that South Africa has a better military than Nigeria? The fact that Nigeria has a poor military is addressed by your post, how?
And is Zuma singing in parliament?
Recently, the Nigerian Armed Forces have embarked on a rigorous rearmament programme; new highly sophisticated weapon platforms have been introduced into the nigerian armoury{many of which are yet to be publicly revealed}.
The use of these sophisticated weapons of war have then heralded the continous defeat and eventual extermination of the violent islamic organisation,Boko Haram.
hundreds of Tanks,APCs,IFVs,MRAPs,AFVs,coupled with squadrons of drones{both armed and unarmed},fighter jets, attack and transport helicopters, surveillance helicopters, and OPCVs have been ordered from russia, china, ukraine, belarus, poland, italy, pakistan, isreal, czech, and south africa.
many weapons have arrived, and a huge amount are on the way.
therefore,i wouldnt say that Nigeria has a poor military.
