Yeah sometimes it depends, What if you mate a Black ( like drake)gsd to a tan female, what would the puppies look like?

Drake kind of black is not recessive Drake siblings all have dominant black, and all produce black when they litter, so u will definitely get more black, but if it's a normal black Gsd that was like only two or one in d litter ND both parents were nt black, there the black is recessive.
Most black Gsds re recessive except both parents carry the gene. Or one of the parents dt is all black have been selectively bred to retain d dominant gene.
But most sables carry the dominant gene.
Am very sure if Drake is bred with a Sable, there will be more Sable pups, there might be long haired pups ND a few blacks but Sable will dominate the litter.
But if bred with a black and tan, he will dominate the litter

So since today is Thursday, I feel like comparing the current pic of Gustaf ( by the left) and the throwback pic ( by the right). Looking at how much he has grown within an interval of 8months overwhelmes me with nothing but just happiness.



When Gustaf arrived newly, he looked fat and thick ( large bones not ticks) so i thought he'd remain that way but nope, in weeks time his structure diverted immediately to what i call "a working dog structure". Unlike the tan and black colour which is dominant in gsds, Gustaf is a sable colour short coated German shepherd, just the colour I've longed to own and I'm glad today i do.


I would have loved if Gustaf has bigger bones and larger paws at least, which is of more quality but that doesn't bother me now, what does is his lack of guard instinct to fully defend his territory which i discussed with the breeder i got him from and he said i shouldn't be disturbed because he's still a boy, assuring me that the nerves would kick in at the right time probably from 12-15months of age which is before December.



I see Gustaf as a wonderful energetic gsd because he has a lot of strength, speed, alert and hardly gets tired unlike lazy Murphy *smiles*. It takes a focused person to walk and control Gustaf in order not to cause damage outside home.

Actually Sable is more dominant and black and tan is common, if u cross a Sable dog with a black and tan dog u will notice that majority of the puppies will be Sable. It normally dominates d black ND tan gene

-I know most trainers of security dogs focus on males, is there a restriction with u?

people were insulting me ,asking me y I had to own a local breed. I told them DAT I didn't care but with time, d insult started to get to me .So I bought a German Shepherd which died after 2 months of me getting him.So now, its just me and jack

Nice dogs you got, at what age did drake began guarding the house fully?

Drake started guarding me as early as two month, became fully aware of his surrounding at 3 month, voice became deep at 4-5 month.
But at that two month of age when I picked Drake, he used to be scared of the outside world like tankers, too many people, and loud noises, as he was always in his kernel with his mom, so when I picked him I gradually introduced him to people, people liked him but Drake didn't want them near me, he Barked ferociously at them, I can remember some of my neighbours in school then being angry that a small puppy couldn't allow dem cuddle. All other pups from his litter I gathered are like him. Drake only fears people he trusts, if he trusts u, u can raise ur hand to hit him, but just don't hit me, as long as u don't live in same compound with him. All his guarding instinct kicked in early, he only grew to be more intimidating

Yeah he is better, but that's my thought exactly, I normally trust my vets, ND dis has never been an issue for any of my dogs, so there could have been something he should have done rather than waiting 2 days.

Depends on the specie of the local dog, if it's that tall hunting local dog's, they come on heat from one year ND above ND from then comes on heat once a year, others come from abt 7 months ND above ND den twice every year, some even come 3 times, it varies

it's day. 47 of mating and we are yet to see a baby bump. Even though by day 40 of the last, we could see the round baby bump. this makes me wonder if she is carrying very few or if she is pregnant at all.

The ray of hope though is her breast are a little bit enlarged though no milk yet. Another sign is she now loves to rest alot. always loving to sit. She however still chases after birds, lizards etc with all her might (which always leaves me panicking).

She is so hyper active that we are like if she supposedly had 2 stillbirths as a result of activity the last time, then this time it might be a lot more. Since she does not live in a conventional dog cage, we have to release her every now and then so she does not soil the room too often.

Another sign is her appetite is not as wild as usual.

Her bump could come out during the last week, so still keep ur fingers crossed, I once had a female that was always like that ND sometimes no even bump, only a little fatter, ND den drop like 6 pups, so I eventually stopped bothering abt her being big in d tummy, I currently have a female too that is supposedly pregnant, I don't know how hers is as this is her first mating, but I also haven't seen any changes apart from her nipples dt increased just a bit, she grew fatter but I feel that's cos I started feeding her a more quality food

You re a true breeder, how many breeders will actually get such whelping box. You really spend on ur dogs, I can remember u advertising one treadmill too

the First my Vet was gonna give my Dog, he actually told me it would be really painful, my dog limped for 2days whining any moment she mistakenly lean to sit on with that spot.

That can happen sometimes Eveezy...not necessarily because the drug was overdose. Some of those injectable drugs can be quite painful you know, and quite often make dogs limp or drag their feet along the floor. It will gradually get better as the drug wears off.

Nice dog, good reason for selling, and looks like he has the Gsd blood in him

Yesterday, The vet came for deworming, gave Drake dewormer, multivitamin ND antibiotics, since then Drake has been limping ND acting dull, I feel it was actually an overdose or the injection didn't go d right way, for this, I think am sacking dis vet. All Drake wants nw is to lie down to avoid feeling such pains

Was there not a tie? And is the she urinating immediately after mating? If yes, I would advice u conduct the mating again

U really try, wehdone, in simpler form ND in conclusion, "Dogs shall not live by meat alone, but by every food that contains different nutritional content"

Infections: it's safer to boil meat cos of infections.
Choking: raw diets are better Dan wen boiled
Balanced diet: comparing raw and boiled meat, raw is better. Only if u don't give ur dog anyoda thing.

I got advice from a few vets about d dangers of raw feeding, truth is that there is actually high risk, to avoid risks, it's safer u boil.

If u re sure of us source ND d meat is properly preserved ND nt exposed, feed raw. My dogs go crazy over raw

Now this was posted by someone like u as a potential risk, ND d unbalanced diet here is cos d poster was talking about is strictly raw feeding i.e no other thing given to the dog apart from raw meat. Too much of anything is nt good, even humans need to rotate their food, one can't keep eating eba cos he loves it, d person will ve a deficiency

And I disagree that the 'only reason' is the disease...what about nutritional deficiencies. Just like humans, dogs also need a balanced diet...they have adapted their dietary requirements over thousands of years of living with humans. They need a diet containing carbohydrates, proteins, fats & oils, vitamins, minerals and of course water, all in the right proportion and quantity.

What balanced diet is there in boiled water? How does boiling a meat increases it's nutritional content? Or u talking of d oil extract dt comes out wen d meat is boiled? Where re d extracts coming from? The water or the meat? ND what do u think is d nutritional content of meat? Just protein? Or are u talking abt the spices? Like Maggi, salt, onion, curry? U do know salt isn't good for dogs right ND neither is onion, what do u need curry for in boiling meat for dogs sef, people claim it's fo it to entice dem, dogs already have high sense of smell to detect that meat already smells yummy without curry. So if you are talking about balanced diet, boiling ur meat doesn't create a balance diet, I mean what's the logic in that? U only need feed other things to acompany for a balanced diet.

Always keep a bowl of water for ur dog, it's very necessary not cos I wanto use it to create balanced diet by boiling meat
