The picture was obviously not taken at the right moment when the dog was stacking. But that, that is also why I’d always pick a working-line GSD over a show-line. A thoroughly bred German Shepherd irrespective of the line is agile, although this dog has the phenotype of what we mostly see in showlines, there is no proof that it actually is one. A German Shepherd is a working dog irrespective of the line. This dog was not presented well, The dog has wet hair, also picture was clearly taken when he was about to sit, thinking it would give a false perception of angulation which didn’t end well at all.

After the Loss of my boy Drake, there seemed to be a void in me that no other dog could fill. Eventually I got a Black and Tan Short Coat male German Shepherd but it still didn’t feel that void until this year I decided to get a male that looked like him, but conforms more to the breed standard, and from a very Solid Bloodline.

After a while of Searching, I found Karl.
Karl is a Long coat Solid Black Showline German Shepherd.

You stated your Doberman ear was left untouched, how does the fallen ear of your Doberman help you understand it’s mood? A floppy ear has little or no way of determining the mood of a dog. However if it’s a dog with errect ears, I can agree

I strongly disagree my doberman has never suffered any injury on her ears and she is cute with it, also it helps me understand her moods. When you crop the ear and dock the tail it makes it harder for your dog to communicate with you. On the other hand it makes them look more aggressive and dangerous when you do it

If you are trully a dog lover, it will be great you move along with fellow dog lover. Do not assume that what you see everyday is a true depiction of what a dog lover is in Nigeria.

If you want a cheap dog go to a shelter, if you want a good dog, go to a Breeder, and it applies everywhere around the world

Read my statement, I mentioned, if a dog is sick, malnourished, or not in top form, you can equally get at a very cheap price or even free.
But you cannot expect such from a dog that all has been given to.

Please go and adopt the adult abroad for free and bring in to Nigeria.
And there is nothing Nigerian about this, There are dog breeders and there are shelters, if you wish to get a cheap dog, go to a shelter which you are not sure of the health condition or status of such a dog, but if you want to get a good dog, go to a breeder.
The two exists for a reason all over the world.
If they give out dogs for free abroad, we wouldn’t be wasting money putting in millions to import a dog

Now take note of the keywords “Bond” not “Train”.
Have you ever raised a pup from scratch and seen what it entails to keep it in top form? When you do, you can come back to this argument. Take note of the key word “Top form”

If the adult is malnourished, sick, abandoned, not in top form, it can be sold cheap or even given out for free because at that stage, the dog needs to be saved. But an adult dog in top form can never be sold cheaper anywhere in the world.
You previous comment about only adult dogs being adopted, where did u get that conclusion? You have never seen abandoned puppies? Or Bitches that littered on the street nd pup was saved by shelters and then rehomed?
Do you also know what it means to adopt? Do you think adoption is what most Nigerians think it is that there is no Financial commitment?There is always a due process before adoption process is completed, a rescued dog cannot be given up for adoption to an individual that is struggling to eat because the sole purpose is for the dog to have a better life. Try not to limit your knowledge on dogs to Nairaland alone nd possibly some rescue videos u see online

Don’t you think when you get a pup, that pup will go through allot of training and retraining process? But with adult dogs, you skip all those phase. If an adult dog was with a responsible owner, all a new owner needs is to find a way to bond with the dog. Or should we talk about cost? You buy a pup, feed it, vaccinate, train, and if the owner is interested, register such dog in a school to get professional training, but when that dog is older it should be sold cheaper after all the investment? Training a dog never ends, as a dog owner I have had several female dogs that I don’t own brought to me for mating, some are usually aggressive, some timid nd some balanced, but usually bonding with any of those dogs has actually being the easier part

There are other reasons why One wouldn’t want an adult dog, but price should never be one of them, most at times you get a very fair deal with the price. Imagine a pup sold for 300k, and as an adult owner puts it up for 500k, Don’t you think it’s worth it? Considering the fact that if the owner had not put in the required work, it will not look desirable to you as an adult.

Your dog looks more of a Cane Corso than a Boerboel, hence my question, not cos of colour or ears. More so why will you crop the ears of a Boerboel? Does it meet any of the breed requirements?
The boy looks very solid for him to be mated to a different breed, if not I wouldn’t ask for a reason. If you believe he is a boerboel, no problem

Hey guys, I'm sorry I haven't updated this thread for some time now, man has been really busy. Zeus is currently 7 and half months now but as you can see in the pictures below, he is not the tallest or biggest 7 months old German Shepherd out there but, I don't really care anymore, I just want him to be healthy and be a great dog. He now understand that this life is not always about play and has completely shifted to protection work and I really love that about him
