Emeka Eze has said he is unhappy at Enugu Rangers and the forthcoming season could well be his last with the club. "I'm not happy at Rangers and it is most likely that the next season would be my last with the club," he said. "My target now is to ensure that before I leave I help the club win a major trophy. And we have started on a good note by winning an invitational tournament recently." The once mighty Rangers have not won a major trophy in almost 30 years. Defensive midfielder Eze, who has been capped by the Super Eagles and was on the squad to the 2013 Fifa Confederations Cup in Brazil, has recovered from an ankle surgery, which kept him out for several months. He said he now hopes to move abroad. "Nothing came out of a proposed move to Germany, but I'm still hopeful I will get a better deal to move to Europe in the new year," said the player, who was linked with a move to German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in the summer. This was disclosed by the media manager of the club, Etu Moses who also expressed satisfaction with what has been achieved so far in preparation towards the next season. Etu further disclosed the Technical Crew have concluded the screening of new players and all those who scaled through would be informed before the resumption date. “The coaching crew has done what is expected of them and from the look of things; we are fully ready for next season,” Etu told Goal. “ I can say that there will be serious competition as we have not less than three good players for every position which is good for the Club “We hope to do well not only in the domestic competitions but in the CAF Confederation Cup where we have been drawn bye in the first round.” Meanwhile, Etu while wishing the players a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year reminded them of the task ahead and urged them to get prepared. “We are grateful to God for what he has done in this year and we also want to use this opportunity to wish our players well in this festive period. “However, they should remember that we have a big task ahead to do well in all competitions and better the achievement of 2013. “They have to observe the period like professionals and report back on the 4th January without complaints. “I want to thank our Sports loving Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan and the Executive Chairman of the State Sports Commission, Mr Amaju Pinnick for their support and our fans who stood by us. “We promise to live up to expectations next season by winning laurels for the State. We equally want to thank the Media for a job well done and pray that God reward them accordingly,” he concluded. |

The NPFL winners have bolstered their team with intelligent and experienced players with the league season just around the corner Kano Pillars have completed the signing of five players ahead of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season for 2013/14. Pillars said they base their squad on continuity but that they have been able to look at areas that are weak that need strengthening before the next season starts. Sai Masu Gida picked two players from Heartland and Enyimba respectively and another from Sunshine Stars. These players are Kingsley Udoh, Abdul Haruna (who is on a second stint to Kano Pillars having left the club in 2010 for Heartland after an impressive performance in the CAF Champions League a year earlier), Eneji Otekpa, Nura Mohammed and Henry Ezekiel. The Media Officer of Pillars, Idris Malikawa told Goal that the club took the track record and the current form of the players into cognisance before approaching them for deals. He predicted that Pillars would never make up the numbers in the CAF Champions League insisting that they are in it to win it for the first time. Malikawa also hinted that Pillars would be taken the game against the Super Eagles next Monday seriously because it will provide them with an opportunity to test their players before their early February grudge match with AS Vita of Congo. "We are going to play against the Eagles with our best players. We won't play them with ease at all. The five players we have signed will help us to stabilise and assist our cause to have more than decent run in the Champions League," Malikawa told Goal. SOURCE: www.Goal.com

Dec 28, 2013 10:44:00 AM The Akure club is going about its recruitment carefully with little noise as they hope to bounce back from their unimpressive results in the league last season A top official of Sunshine Stars has expressed happiness at the calibre of goalkeepers in the fold of the Akure club ahead of the 2013/14 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season which starts next year across the country. Sunshine have recruited Sharks' goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Rangers' Godwin Ayalogu to add to Moses Ocheje and Henry Abiodun that were with the club during the last campaign. Ezenwa is a goalkeeper with rich experience having taken part in the FIFA U20 World Cup in Canada in 2007 and in the U23 national team under Samson Siasia in 2008. He was in the team that grabbed a silver medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. Another new entrant, Ayalogu was in fantastic last season for Rangers before he got injured while Ocheje and Abiodun are also no novice to the round leather game. In a chat with Goal, the top official of Sunshine who does not want in name in print said that the Akure side would only go about their recruitment without much fuss on the pages of newspapers as they look poised to build a strong team from the goalkeepers to the strikers before the start of the season. "We are very discreet at our recruitment. We want to as much as possible get very good players at very affordable rate. The two goalkeepers we have added to our team are to increase the battle for who will man the post during our matches. "Ayalogu is a good goalkeeper from Rangers and Ezenwa too is trying his best. We also have other fine players that we are not going to say much about now. It is until the season starts that you are going to see the best of us," the source told Goal. SOURCE: www.Goal.com

Nigerian champions, Kano Pillars are undecided on which of the duo of Kadiri Ikhana and Okey Emordi to lead their team for the 2013/14 Glo Premier League season. Already the Pyramid City side have contracted three undisclosed Italians to work with the yet to be named Nigerian coach. The Nigerian duo have been shortlisted for the plum job but the Pillars management is yet to agree on whom to hand over the mantle of leadership. An official of Kano Pillars, Idris Malikawa said the board is still assessing the two coaches and will very soon name one of them to lead the side in their Africa and domestic league campaigns. “The government has mandated the board to go ahead and name a coach for the side. The board's searchlight has been narrowed down to Kadiri Ikhana and Okey Emordi both of whom have been interviewed by the technical committee specially set up for the purpose. “The board is still assessing the two coaches and once they are satisfied one of them will be named the head coach to work with the Italians already contracted. “The board is mindful of the expectations of Nigerians and is asking for their patience and prayer too to assist the board to do what is right. “Kano Pillars want to go to the continent to contest for the title not to make up the numbers and that’s why we’re taking time to ensure we give Nigerians the best representation by naming the best coach for the side,” Malikawa said to supersport.com. Malikawa said the side will approach the test game against the domestic Super Eagles on Monday in Abuja like they will against the Caf Champions League opponents, AS Vita of DR Congo. “We want to take the friendly tie against the domestic Eagles on Monday as seriously as we would approach the first game against the DR Congo side, AS Vita in the Caf Champions League tie. “Victory is on our minds, nothing short of outright victory will be acceptable to us. “The technical crew has recalled selected players from the break for the crucial encounter, that’s to tell you we’re not taking the test game lightly. “It’s a must win game for us and opportunity for us to test our players as well as let Nigerians into what we’ve in stock for them in the coming season,” Malikawa said. The build-up clash will be Eagles’ last practice game before they head off to South Africa for the third African Nations Championship (Chan) where they are pitched in Group A with the hosts, South Africa, Mali and Mozambique. source: www.supersports.com

Hbuyosh: Your arrogance is realy appalling.we beat Cote divore 4:1, Burkina faso 4:1, Can ur Kenya beat these 2 teams? Who is Afraid of baby kenya? Kenya team have nt achieved 1/q of what our under-17 women national team (flamigoes) have achieved nt to talk of our men teams |
striker9: Stop degrading our U17 world champions, maybe U15 home base reserved or Kano Pillars will be ok.Damn our under-15 national team is too big for the harambee star of kenya,, even kenya cant withstand our under-13 national team nt to talk of Kano pillars,,OGEDEGBE PRIMARY SCH that won the 2013 CHANNEL KIDS CUP WILL BE GOOD FOR THE KENYA TEAM, |
![]() dagbenga: what is this one saying SWAHILI |
Hbuyosh: You don't play your best when playing with African teams? Dude, do you realise how lame that explanation sounds? You mean NFF has been wasting all that money all that time for the SE to wilfully play a lucklustre game with African teams? That's a pack of bullsh*tfor us to compete with the world we have to play Africa teams to be a representative of Africa,,cuz if there is any we can boycot Africa qualifiers and still make it to the world stage, NFF wud have bycot all games against African counterparts |
Hbuyosh: Ha ha ha ha, ho ho. , just to remind u, your last match in Nairobi resulted into a very miserable, contentious one goal. Be4 that, it was a match in Nigeria where despite your overt effort to smash their spirit, (making them practice in the uneven grounds of that derelict school ) the match still ended in a draw. Both matches made Nigeria realise they aren't that all so mighty, naah. Kenya nearly humiliated you at your homeground.damn,,,we dont play our best each time we play our Africa counterpart like the way we play european country,,so dont come here and say Kenya nearly humilate nigeria, cuz if nigeria really want to play real football with kenya they will park alots of goals back to kenya,,,,anyway we will just tell our NFF to accept ur request so that u guys will play OGEDEGBE PRIMARY SCH the winner of CHANNEL KIDS CUP 2013 since u want to cry over the rejection of KFF request |
Hbuyosh: Kenya asked in a nice way for a friendly, they did not 'demand'. You belittle Kenyan boys, yet you know they've always given you guys such a hard time on the pitch. You've pipped Kenya in some matches, I agree, but only by a few goals. Most of your matches have always resulted into a draw, so, don't u underestimate these boys they got their mojo back. They just got some management issues they need to put in order.ODE!!!!!!! We dont care if kenya is requesting or demanding,,all we are saying is that we dont want friendlies that will take us backward,we need friendlies that will take us forward,,ur kenya shld request friendlies 4rm their mate which are Eritrea,,Tazania,,zanzibar,,,somalia,,sychelles..south sudan,,Serria leone,,Swaziland E.tc not Bigbrother Africa like NAIJA |

In sports Nigeria is by Far ahead of ghana,,ghana has 4 medals(1 silver and 3 bronze) in the history of olympics,,still searching for A gold While bigbrother Nigeria have 23 ( 3gold 8 silver and 12 bronze) in basketball we are ahead of them in male and female,,same with volleyball, teakwodo,,Cricket, gymnastics,,track and field event,,swiming,,cycling .e.t.c they only rub shoulder in football which we are ahead of mosly our female teams are by far ahead of them,,so whats the fuss,,ghana that cannot afford $3,000 to give to their only representatives to represent them in 1AAF Junior championship this year and didnt even any representatives in the 2013 1AAF championship. Chaley abeg nor dy argue trash |
