helinues: Lies.. It was coincidence.
Why Christmas eve? After Dasuki spending how many years in prison? You, and all those other guys supporting evil, should hide your faces in shame. You guys (and the arrogant fools Garba Shehu and Femi Adesina) were busy beating your chests, while the bigot Buhari and his clueless cabals were fearfully pondering what their fate will be under American pressure. The fear of America is the beginning of wisdom for African dictators. |

tfelicityk: People with crazy ideas...
Thanks to God that the guy didn't kill anybody in the bank... He might not even be armed, although he will tell the Teller that he is armed and ready to shoot. They are usually quiet and smooth about it. Bank customers will not even know he is robbing until he collects the money and walks out. |

Chukabiz: One Man robbed a bank? Was he invisible or what? That is how it usually goes in the US: One person will walk in , go straight to a Teller, hand the Teller a written note demanding money while warning that he is armed and ready to shoot. He may actually not be armed or he could have a fake gun. But you don't want to find out. He collects the money, quietly walks out and then runs away on foot or into a waiting vehicle. Banking activities will still be going on with customers oblivious that the Bank is being robbed, until he walks out and then alarm is raised and Police arrive. It's rare to see Bank robberies where they come in as a crowd, heavily armed, announcing themselves, like we have in Nigeria. Difficult to assemble all that crowd of unemployed criminals over there. |

midnighter: Come on! There is something called "general" vs "specific" or "collective responsibility" vs "individual responsibility"
So because of bad governance you should sit back and allow your customer to be hacked to death by a bunch of lunatics? Youre not serious at all So GUO should have armed themselves and go face the kidnappers? Your inept government, both Federal and State are to blame for the insecurity on our roads. The transport companies are not the problem. Nigerians are generally unreasonable and usually unwilling to lay the blame at the appropriate entity. |

I usually try to read your posts impartially; on this one I would say you are half right.
He should have gotten in touch with the police sooner in a double-pronged approach with the "Press" stuff.
But youre wrong to remove blame from GUO; nobody is asking them to fork out millions but they should at least be decent when dealing with distraught relatives.
The way they tried to dismiss him was the reason he started all the television stuff so blaming him for his response is unfair. You say "nobody is asking them to fork out millions"? But the op expected them to pay the whole ransom. Customer service was poor. But that is a Nigerian thing. It's rare to meet a polite Nigerian. |

midnighter: The transport company did badly with their attitude which is why the situation escalated.
It was them who were supposed to call the police and not the independent relatives.
Transport companies are supposed to have an administrative arm that deals with emergencies.
So you were right to hold them responsible but unrealistic not to pursue an alternative pathway when you realised how lackadaisical they were being.
If they had called you and said "the passengers have been kidnapped and we are currently working with the police; please come for an emergency meeting so we can discuss further" instead of being cagey when you reached the office, it could have been different.
If they didnt collaborate with anybody to hijack their own bus, why were they hiding and concealing with Igbo Remember that you only heard one side of the story. You did not hear the company's side. |

fairfora: Same GUO transport company that wasted their passengers after colliding with a PMT bus 2 weeks ago along Benin ore highway, but claimed it was only the driver in the front that died while 2 others sustained injuries? Any accident resulting in the death of a driver must be a ghastly one, which could also have killed the passenger in the front seat...but they told Nigerians lies that only the driver died when the eyewitness reported that 18 passengers lost their lives in the 2 buses.
I'm disappointed as them. I used to see them as an alternative to GIG which is on the verge of folding up but I was wrong Nigeria is a very difficult terrain to do business. It is a jungle. We have to appreciate that and not pretend that we are in a developed or civilized environment. |

BREYZ: These Transport companies are all the same, putting passengers lives at risk without remorse. If I were you, i won't waste my time doing all youve done already, from the moment I sense their nonchalant attitude towards the lives of passengers that boarded their Bus of which A manifest was made available before their departure to their various destinations, I will give them 48 hours to go to the police so as a to rescue the kidnap victims as well as pay for damages for putting passengers lives at risk with sympathy, I bring a legal action against them worth 25 Billion naira, seeing the amount alone, they will seek for out of court settlement. What nonsense!! They should try that with me and see what happens afterwards. You are just ranting. Just pray that you or a relative of yours don't fall into the hands of kidnappers. You want to sue a transport company whose driver and passengers were kidnapped, together with their vehicle, and which offered to pay half the ransom? If you need to sue, your lawsuit should be directed towards the Federal government, and the appropriate State government. It is their duty to provide security for all of us. The transport company should have been forthcoming with information for the affected families though. They need to work on their customer service. |

sammirano: These companies have an obligation to their passengers. There is a standard insurance package, and passengers can purchase extra insurance as part of the fare. Going forward, the transport company will lose on all grounds. You should set up a transport company to practice what you preach. If your company will be paying the ransom when your passengers are kidnapped, I am sure your company will be getting almost all the passengers on your company's routes. And we'll see how long you'll remain in business. |

It is unfortunate what happened to your relative and other passengers. Thank God they have been rescued alive. However, I don't see how the GUO Company is being held responsible for the kidnapping. I think the company is as much a victim as the passengers. And I think the company did right by offering to pay half of the ransom. It is the Buhari government that should be held accountable for the increased insecurity in the country, not private business men and women who are suffering like everyone else. Nigerians in general should also take responsibility for helping to give the useless Fulani militant sponsor a second term. I hope people vote right in 2023. |

quaintbloke: I do not know what owo is but adding potash to feeds is a risk to health. I know farmers routinely add potash or baking soda to palm oil to make it curdle, this also is a health risk and the damage continues to build up overtime. Nigerians dont routinely do health check up but I would advise that if you are worried about your exposure to potash, do a kidney function test. The level of potassium should normally be between 3.5-5. Baking soda is Sodium Bicarbonate and is different from Potash. It is also used as an antacid. I'm not aware of it being a health risk when used sparingly. It is safely used to soften beans by soaking overnight and washing off the next day. The beans is then parboiled and washed again to remove the harmful pesticides used by farmers to preserve the beans. |
