Because you belong to the Ipob terrorist group or the Fulani bandits.
They tend to see everything through their own lens(terrorism).
For your information, IPOB is not a terrorist organization. Stop supporting injustice. The bigot Buhari is in no position to brand IPOB a terrorist organization.

Don't assume he is Igbo because of his moniker. He could be Fulani. The good people of the Southeast fully support the Amotekun initiative. Ohaneze Ndigbo have voiced their support. A real Igbo will always support good initiatives that are meant to protect lives and property.

Thanks to Afe Babalola, SAN, for breaking it down for the lay man to understand what the Constitution says about this issue and about our rights and obligations as citizens.
Malami is a disappointment and should not be in that position of AGF.

Thank God I saw this thread, was booking GIGM before... No more o.. I run .. will inform others to do same too.
You don't have to run. All the other ones have their issues too. I'm sure you will find out. My observation is that there is a general deterioration of quality service among the transport companies. This has to do with the bad economic situation in the country at the moment.

We're talking about good business etiquette and difficult business environment has nothing to do with it.
I've dealt with people from poorer African countries and trust me Nigerians have poor customer service especially in the public sector.
What I am saying is that Nigerians are generally rude and can be unreasonable, including the customers that are complaining. Some of those complaining passengers also run businesses and are probably worse when it comes to customer service.
Of course the difficult business environment has something to do with the issue because many Nigerians get frustrated by the unnecessary challenges they have to go through every day. When somebody is frustrated, it can affect how you interact with your customers.

The first day i entered GIGM, i was goin to aba from lagos nd i missed GUO aba bus soo i decided to head for GIGM, they said aba bus have left soo i will have to take the shuttle for owerri. The most annoying part of the story is that the journey took my whole day. The driver didn't even care.. Oga pls add speed dis car is crawling.. He was shouting at all of us, y didnt we book flight.. he kept acting cool lagos but wen he got to owerri, he turned to a beast.. I can't even try to enter GIGM motors again. Even if it's the last bus, i will wait for tomoro sad>
So you are one of those passengers that keep putting pressure on the driver to speed up?

Right now, they have mostly old rickety buses that usually break down along the way.

Cantonese:
I think the family lost the original vision. The original vision defined modern day method of long haulage transportation as we observe these days.

Gone are the days when 100 was the speed limit. Gone are the days when captains were not permitted to drive off the proper roads. Gone are the days of captains who would never be rude to passengers. Gone are the days of ground staff who treated passengers politely. Utako terminal started getting dangerous for passengers way back in 2015 until some unscrupulous staff including the manager were sacked in one day. Gone are the days of very good looking buses that attracted passengers. Gone are the days of good looking terminals. Asaba terminal looks big outside but the inside is very dirty and full of cobwebs.

I think the problem has to do with poor growth plans. The management seems to have deluded themselves with the kind of passenger traffic experienced when the business was reorganised.

The workers are well paid and they have no reason for rudeness. Agbero mentality has crept into the heads of the ground staff. The field officers, as they are called, demand money from passengers before loading luggages.

The economy under the present regime has not helped with the cost of a Hiace bus approaching 25 million or over. How long will it take for them to make their turn over? It was much easier for them before now as they could purchase 200 buses in one order. These days GIGM does not purchase more than 20 buses in one order. Another challenge they have is their very porous accounting system. Some of their accountants have run away with very huge sums running into hundreds of millions.

It is not a hidden secret that the chairman ventured into the oil industry. The business has enterred into wrong hands. Advices and solution offered by the very senior drivers are not carried out. Irresponsible drivers have taken over. Very well trained drivers have moved to other companies where the packages are better.

On the part of the guests as passengers are called, there has to be some understanding. Some passengers frustrate other passengers and the captains. Some are very rude and unbearable. Some make very foolish demands. Some ask the captains to increase their speed and burst into arguments with other passengers because of that Some expect the captains to stop at any point that they need irrespective of the danger. Women drop sanitary pads and pampers inside the buses. Some stick chewing gums on the seats, etc. There need to be understanding too from the passengers.

GIGM needs to re strategise. There has to be an attitude change in the face of stiff competition provided by GUO, AKTC and others.

In all I'd rather travel GIGM than any other companies. I am certain that I journeys can end in terminals close to my location and I do not need to spend much on additional transport fare. I still remain a fan with a very strong hope and desire for change from the company.
Well balanced analysis. The typical Nigerian customer can be very unreasonable. They take the saying that Customer is King too far. You might want to send your objective critique to the management for their consideration. It might help them to improve on their service.

You're absolutely right. A Nigerian by default lacks good etiquette.
And that includes the customers that are complaining. I believe that GIGM service has deteriorated but people also have to appreciate that Nigeria is a very difficult environment to do business. Especially transport business, with the extremely bad roads that we have. Sometimes I just wonder how these long distance transporters are able to stay in business over the years.

Community and state policing featured prominently in APC manifesto. This is the time to walk the talk. The president must resist all political and tribal considerations and support the effort of south western states to protect lives and properties. Insecurity is the biggest threat to national unity and this must be dealt with through collaboration between all tiers of government.
It featured in their manifesto just to deceive the gullible ones. Buhari never believed in restructuring which would have ushered in State and Community Police.

You mean the same core north that wants their own version of Amotekun? If you do simple math you only need support from 24 states. Thst means only 1 core north state has to agree. The sell is easy especially if they want more power conferred to themselves..
I hope the legislators from the SE, SW, SS, and NC will initiate a bill for restructuring. The unity brought about by this Amotekun issue should help to get a restructuring bill through.

The ultimate solution is to amend the constitution to allow any tier of government to have their own police force and prisons. It also be smart to amend exclusive list item 2 and 1990 fire arms act. Stop the half measures and just do the hard work.

SpecialAdviser:
I have had a lot of people asking me why this Amotekun has been giving the north sleepless nights. It shows how shallow many Nigerians understand Nigerian politics. In fact let me try to explain something to them. May be they will start understanding Nnamdi Kanu better.

The north contribute very little to Nigerian economic development and would wait for proceeds from Niger Delta oil in order to carry out developmental projects. This is the core cause of Nigerian civil war. Abuja, Kano and other major cities in the north was built solely from oil proceeds.

Suffice is to say that everywhere in the world, oil is not found in every nook and crannies of a country. So Nigeria is not an exception to that simple logic.

But the issue with Nigeria is that the north refuses justice to other parts of Nigeria. Years of military rule refuses tangible project in other parts of the country. And a military channel was put in place to make sure no resistance exists anywhere from Nigeria. This is why you see them colonizing every military and para military organizations. Same reason Obasanjo retired many top military officers of northern origin to wither their influence.

The north fears any resistance that can cause break up and deny them the free flow of Niger Delta oil. The issue is that their mentality of subjugation has caused them big problem managing Nigerian unity. Their notorious nature have even caused a big split within the north itself as many minority northerners have become wiser now. Look at statement from TY Danjuma.

The coming to power by Buhari has escalated this mentality. Fact is that the fear of such subjugations which was evident in Buharis pre election statements caused Igbos to be on the alert resulting to what seemed like a hatred from the Igbos. People like Nnamdi Kanu cashed on this animosity and gained a lot of followership.

The north is always afraid of Nigerian break up but has failed to make Nigeria a country for all.
Im sure America has this intelligence and with the growing hatred they have in the north, we may expect break up earlier than expected.

I would advice Igbos investing so much outside Igboland to think twice before such investments. The future of this country is gloomy and you cannot afford to lose most of your belongings yet again to other Nigerians.

Except divine intervention, the country may have serious issues sooner than expected.
Excellent analysis. I expect Nigeria to break up eventually and it will be the fault of the core North.

Mightymanna:
Non of these regional security apparatus will help Nigeria's unity because they are conceived with sinister motives toward some ethnic groups in the country. For those that are shouting HISBAH and civilian JTF in the North are also illegal, they should look at the aforementioned from different perspectives because Hisbah was created by Kano state and civilian JTF by Borno state non of these Security agencies are allowed to use gun or any sophisticated weapons
But amatekun or whatever they call it is a different case because
1.a whole geo-political zone decided to create it
2. They will be allowed to use weapons
3. They are being supported by people of questionable character e.g Nnamdi KANU
4. Other regions might do the same hence the federal police will be useless and conflicts will started based on perceived injustice by people of different ethnicity.

Therefore amatekun or whatever is dead and buried the Northerners will not agree will these sort of security arrangements, if you want secure your region cooperate with the police and army in your respective states, support them with necessary , material and financial support and watch how things will change
So what do you have to say about foreign Fulanis from the neighboring countries that have been allowed (by the Nigerian Army, Police and DSS) to be invading Nigerian communities with AK 47, killing, raping and kidnapping?
Nigerians have the right to protect themselves from FG sponsored violence.
All the regions of Nigeria have equal stake in Nigeria. The North does not own Nigeria. The North cannot stop the regional or State security outfits.
And you should stop talking about Nigerian unity because there is nothing like that in Nigeria right now. Even your President (who is a confirmed tribalist) does not believe in Nigerian unity.
