Buddha and Confucius lived and died before Jesus Christ was born. I have read part of analects and there is no place in it where Confucius said he is not the way. The only thing similar to this that Confucius said was when he was asked about whether there is life after death, and he said why do you worry about death when you do not yet understand life. Buddha was a wise man who always insisted on his followers using their rationality instead of blind obedience that we see in Christianity and Islam today. These two great ancient philosophers never attempted to divide people, instead they preached morality and universal peace and no-violence. They would definitely have spoken again God's eternal punishment of people being burned in hell unlike Jesus and Muhammad who cherished eternal damnation. Buddhist and Confucian philosophies are not being used to create hate and division among human beings the way Christianity and Islam are being used. In my opinion, it doesn't matter what religion one follows one has to learn a lot from Buddha and Confucius.This also applies to Jesus and Muhammad irrespective of their shortcomings, because every religion figure has his shortcomings.

What are Jesus' shortcomings?

Mohammed preached and practiced violence. The true Islam is violent. Boko Haram and ISIS espouse the true Islamic doctrine as preached by Mohammed. So, yes we can generalize about Islam and violence.

I have a friend whose mum is a Christian now, the mum is the only Christian in the family so we used to mock her for being a Christian ( we are very close).. But one day she said she become a Christian because of one terminal disease, it was Christianity that came to her aid when she needed money for hospital, prayed for her and donated money.
