believe me, i have not d slightest idea, but i think what they meant is d amount of time a HR professional would spend in viewing ur cv, or better still, d amount of time ur cv wld go thru dis Ats scan machine to determine if u are d right candidate

Kindly take their advice and submit applications on word doc, except the recruiter specifically asks for PDF. You can view your word doc on your phone, and computer to ensure the arrangement doesn't change when viewing on either medium.

Secondly, it is ideal to limit the size to 100kb or less. This is one great advantage of word documents as the file sizes are usually moderate. Word documents are also preferred to pdf, when you are applying to jobs in some specific sectors like the oil and gas, where most times, different recruitment agencies advertise jobs, for a particular company eg. Total (especially contract positions).



These agencies, take your word CV, modify it, with their letter head, add some details that might help your candidacy, before submitting to Total.


Please take note that you can do all these yourself without paying anyone a dime.

Thanx very much, will take people's advise on submitting word docs. But just for d record, d reason i submit my cv in pdf when applying for jobs is, i use my fone or tab most times to apply for jobs, and my fone shows my cv in word format, disarranged, hence d reason. I have quick office, ms office and think free viewer apps on my fone, dey all show my cv in word format disarranged, but d pdf is in perfect shape, if i transfer it to a system to view, whether word or pdf, its in order.

N.B: i said somewhere in my thread that my ms word format cv is actually LESS than 100kb, i was actually asking d reason for d much increase when changed to pdf using Nitro. . . .

im not sure where that interest came from, but thats not the issue here. . . . position being applied for, shouldnt be a concern of urs

that has been my whole point, most jobs i apply to, says pdf must be either in word or pdf, so. . . . . .By d way, could someone explain what dis ATS stuff mean?cuz it dosent seem like it has to do with word or pdf format

In my opinion, CV should always be saved in pdf to avoid the format changing or scattering when opened by the receiver.

Nitro pdf can convert that 95kb document in Ms word to about 128-140kb in pdf. You can try getting that.

i actually used nitro and it gave me that 358kb. . . .about using pdf, that was my exact thoughts, so i rily dnt know where dis David or soo gets that his idea from. . . .

Okay, i recently submitted my cv to jobberman for a "SWOT ANALYSIS", or critique, u might say, of my cv. On a very good day, i could say these claims have legitimacy, but i would on dis day, beg to differ, and state that this cannot be entirely true, if at all....
When my cv critique came back, some observations were made:
1] In their words, and i quote "My first impression of u is that u have an impressive array of skills and experiences. You are a qualified candidate with a lot to offer the employer. The bad news is your cv does not easily pass d 30-second test."
2] that my cv was saved in PDF, which of course is true and that's d reason i haven't been getting much interviews as i'm supposed to. That only 19% of candidates save theirs in PDF , while 64% save theirs in word, so i should consider saving in word and start using for online applications, stating something like, "while PDF may make viewing consistent, some older Applicant Tracking System (ATS), have problems reading them. Now , i do understand this ATS ish, which might be true, but in my humble opinion, PDF file readers like ADOBE OR NITRO, SHOULD be a NECESSARY admin tool in an advanced and organized firm! Not having a PDF file reader, is like saying having MS WORD, but no excel!

2a] that my file size is 358kb, so i should trim some things like format used for typing etc..... Now my question is: my cv in word format is just 95kb, not even up to 100kb, wat could be the problem as regards that much increase when changed to PDF

b]and moreover, i have applied for jobs that stated submitted cvs shouldnt be more than 2mb, which means people actually have cvs that weigh about 1mb plus, and still get jobs....sooo does this size even mean anything

What do you mean by it does not send or receive messages? Is it that you can't find the message box folder/app or what exactly? What network are you using currently? Have you tried other networks?

the message app and box is there, just that if i send messages out, it dosent deliver, and if someone sends me a msg, it reads delivered on d person's fone, but dosent deliver to mine. . . . There are 2 of these fones my uncle bought, and dey act this same way. . . .i use an mtn line on d sim, and yes, i've tried other networks.

I think MS Office Suite is a basic requirement because u will b expected to assist senior HR Managers to update employees record, payroll administration, presentation & so on. I learnt HR has advance softwares in which different functions are performed. So, Microsoft Office Suite should b a starting point.
