A US televangelist has asked his followers to help fund his fourth private jet because Jesus "wouldn't be riding a donkey". Jesse Duplantis said God had told him to buy a Falcoln 7X for $54m (£41m). He added he was hesitant about the purchase at first, but said God had told him: "I didn't ask you to pay for it. I asked you to believe for it." Although preachers owning private jets is not unusual, this particular appeal has caused controversy. Twitter users responded to the request with disbelief, with many quoting Bible verses warning against greed and "false prophets", or suggesting that the money could be better used to help the poor. In a video address posted on his website, 68-year-old Mr Duplantis explained: "You know, I've owned three different jets in my life, and I've used them and just burning them up for the Lord Jesus Christ." Now, some people believe that preachers shouldn't have jets. I really believe that preachers ought to go on every available voice, every available outlet, to get this Gospel preached to the world." Standing beside framed pictures of his current fleet, he said that the jet he bought 12 years ago was no longer sufficient for his ministry because he could not fly non-stop, meaning he had to pay "exorbitant" refuelling costs. Another picture which appeared in the video showed the preacher standing with the three aircraft, above the caption: "It's not about possessions, it's about priorities." Mr Duplantis justified the request by saying that Jesus had told people to "go into the world and preach the Gospel to every creature, now how we gonna do that? I can't live long enough to travel by car or by ship or by train, but I can do it by an aeroplane". http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-44305873 Lalasticlala, Mynd44

Diners at a popular restaurant in a Malaysian tourist hotspot were horrified to discover their dishes were washed in a puddle on the street. A video which surfaced online showed staff from Raj's Banana Leaf restaurant squatting over a pothole on the street, scrubbing and rinsing food trays with the dirty water. 'They do not have proper washing facilities behind the kitchen,' he said. However, the restaurant passed health checks with an A- rating and 'cleanliness checks showed that the restaurant was in good condition' Mr Patel confirmed. It remains unclear how the popular restaurant passed cleanliness checks without proper washing facilities in the kitchen. Health authorities were forced to shut the restaurant down indefinitely after finding there were no adequate washing facilities. The restaurant in Kuala Lumpur's affluent neighbourhood of Bangsar, issued an apology, blaming the incident on new staff but has since been shut down. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5789233/Restaurant-Malaysian-tourist-hotspot-slammed-washing-plates-puddle-street-goes-viral.html

Lawmakers in Rwanda have passed a new legislation ongun acquisition. The new law will allow individuals to apply for licenses to possess guns and for traders to also sell same. The government hasdefended the move in part, stating that it was keeping with the times and that the sector was going to be tightly regulated. The legislation is set to replace a 2009 law that restricted arms possession and sale. The New Times portal quoted the State Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs, Evode Uwizeyimana, as saying: “Even if it’s allowed to possess arms, we aren’t going to distribute them like voting cards,” he said. “We are a country that is fast developing and instead of limiting different things we should move to regulate them,” he added. Details about the law: 1. Arms are defined as firearms and their ammunition, grenade and other explosives used as arms as well as nuclear, biological, chemical or toxic weapons. 2. The law allows civilians to possess firearms for hunting, sports, or for self-defence purposes if they meet the conditions described in the law. 3. The law specifies that the Rwanda National Police authorities, who will be responsible for issuing gun possession licences, may refuse to grant firearm possession and carriage licence at their own discretion. 4. For a person to be authorised to sell arms, the bill stipulates, they shall submit a request letter to the Minister in charge of the Rwanda National Police and attach copies of their identity card or passport, shall be people of integrity, and be at least 21 years old. 6. Those wishing to sell arms will not have been sentenced to a term of imprisonment equal to or exceeding six months, shall show a safe place where to keep the arms, shall produce a legal commercial registration, and shall commit to not collaborate with terrorist organisations or individual terrorists. 6. The Cabinet will also have to authorise individuals before they can start selling arms in the country. https://www.von.gov.ng/rwanda-passes-new-gun-law/?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C5292142922 Lalasticlala, Mynd44

He is pictured this morning displaying a certificate of courage and dedication signed by Paris Police Prefect Michel Delpuech. President Emmanuel Macron said the migrant will be made a French citizen and will also be offered a place in the fire brigade for his courage. "All the (Gassama's) documents will be put in order," President Macron told the sporty 22-year-old who has become a national hero, referring to his immigration status. In the meeting, live footage of which was carried on the president's Facebook page, President Macron gave Gassama a medal for bravery. Without a thought for his own safety, Gassama took just seconds to reach the child in a spectacular rescue captured on film and viewed millions of times on social networks. "I was not thinking of anything. I went straight up", Gassama, who wore jeans and a short-sleeved patterned shirt, told Macron, recounting the episode. "Bravo," Macron replied. "I'm pleased because it's the first time I've received a trophy like that," Gassama, who arrived in France in September 2017 and lives in a hostel for immigrants, said after receiving his medal. The incident took place at around 8pm on Saturday in northern Paris.

A Malian immigrant dubbed Spiderman for scaling four storeys to save a child dangling from a balcony in Paris will be made a French citizen after meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron this morning. Mamoudou Gassama, 22, was hailed a hero for single-handedly hauling the four-year-old to safety after scaling the facade of an apartment block in the capital's 18th arrondissement. The dramatic rescue, which saw Gassama clamber from balcony to balcony and reaching the child in less than 30 seconds, was captured on video and widely shared on social media. He has since been compared to the Marvel superhero Spiderman. Gassama, who said he arrived in France a few months ago 'dreaming of building his life' in the country, was pictured meeting French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace this morning.
