After a perfect flight out of the Earth's atmosphere and into space, the James Webb telescope module detached from the body of the Ariane 5 rocket that had blasted it skywards, leading to cheers from nervous scientists at mission control in Kourou, French Guiana.

NASA's $10billion James Webb Space Telescope has lifted off from European Space Agency's base in French Guiana.



At 7.20am ET (12.20PM GMT) the world's most powerful space telescope, equipped with an Ariane 5 rocket, took off from the European Spaceport facility in French Guiana in magnificent form before blasting skywards over the Atlantic Ocean.

The Webb telescope will then take a month to coast to its destination in solar orbit roughly one million miles from Earth about four times farther away than the moon.

The resort island of La Palma, one of the Canary Islands off the northwestern coast of Africa, has been battered by volcanic eruptions for more than two months.

The Cumbre Vieja volcano erupted for the first time in 50 years on September 19, laying waste to the Cabeza de Vaca area and prompting the evacuation of thousands of residents.

Authorities in La Palma, home to 85,000 people and a popular destination for European tourists, say the volcano has been active ever since.

There's nothing like panicking mode in that situation, 5 fully armed men vs 1 unarmed man.

North Koreans have been banned from laughing or drinking for 11 days to mark the tenth anniversary of former leader Kim Jong Il's death.

Government authorities have ordered the public to not show any signs of happiness while North Korea commemorates his death.

Kim Jong Il ruled North Korea from 1994 until his death in 2011, and was then succeeded by his third and youngest son, current leader Kim Jong Un.

Now, ten years after his death, North Koreans are being forced to observe the 11-day period of mourning where they are not allowed to laugh or drink alcohol.

'During the mourning period, we must not drink alcohol, laugh or engage in leisure activities,' a North Korean from the northeastern border city of Sinuiju told Radio Free Asia (RFA).

On February 18, 1982, human remains were found in a garbage bag dumped behind a business in Twinsburg, Ohio.

Little's remains showed signs of blunt-force trauma, leading a medical examiner to conclude that he died by homicide.

A murder victim whose bones were found almost 40 years ago in Ohio has been identified through DNA as missing O'Jays guitarist Frank Little Jr.

Authorities used DNA and genealogical research to identify the remains of Frank 'Frankie' Little Jr, and identified him as their murder victim on Wednesday.

Little, a Vietnam veteran who played with the O'Jays during the 1960s before leaving the band to pursue a woman, died of blunt force trauma.

No motive has been shared, and cops have not pinpointed any possible suspects.

After he was killed, his bones were stuffed in a garbage bag and dumped in a wooded area in Twinsburg, Ohio, where they were found in February 1982.

It is unclear if Little had been reported missing to police.

Little is believed to have been alive until at least the mid-1970s, with investigators hopeful of new leads now they've identified the victim.
