Educationalserv:Well, I don't understand your point. Lagos and other states collects many taxes that are due for them. No body has a problem with that. The problem here is VAT. It is a consumption tax. We pay VAT at the point we buy the product or service. But for convenient sake, companies remits the VAT paid through their head office. So it is not the state where the head office is that generated the VAT and should not take the lion share. The proposal from the Governor's Forum is more reasonable than the one from Tinubu. |
Educationalserv:This is what they do not understand. That the VAT is collected in Lagos does not mean that the consumption took place in Lagos. If they don't like this recommendation, then every state should be allowed to collect VAT on their consumption. It should not be channelled to the head office in Lagos or PH. |
FFK has shared his own experiences of the 1966 coup from a particular point. He is entitled to that. But now the people that did no know of the full story has started misinterpreting it. Someone talked of Igbo domination which is very unfortunate. This is the address of Nzeogwu that endeared Nigerians to the coup. " My dear country men, no citizens should have anything to fear as long as that citizens remains law abiding. Our enemies are political profiteers, swindlers, the men in the high and low places that seek bribes and demand ten percent, those that seek to keep the country divided permanently so that they remain in office as ministers and VIP of waste, the tribalist, the nepotist, those that made the country big for nothing before the international circle, those that have corrupted our society and put Nigerian political calendar back by their words and and deed" That's it. The coup did not succeed. This is why Nigeria will continue to suffer. Those who think that it was about the Igbos should note that at this point in the nation , 1. Western regions was under emergency rule. 2. Western region election of 1965 turned to theatre of war in which about 2000 people had been killed and 500 houses burnt.( it was the coup that stopped the killings). 3. Tivs in the middle belt were rebelling with 3000 people so far killed. 4. Adaka Boro was rebellion in the Niger Delta with many killed. 5. Census crisis in the nation. 6. Student, labour union, market women, civil servants, and the general public complaining and crying without anybody listening or doing anything. These are the stage that ususer in the coup. Read Nzeogwu 's address again. The coup has nothing to do with the Igbos as a tribe. |
abuhusna1:Yes. Chat gpt is completely different from human writing. It also not accepted in many areas. |
This man's explanation is very deceptive. He is hiding the truth. What he meant was that Lagos will lose if States where not allowed to collect VAT. But this is not the issue at stake. He should have told us how Lagos State will lose when 60% derivation is applied. Whom are they deceiving? The North should not agree. |
plumcomm:Movement without action. What are the impacts of the refineries. Has the price of beans came down, because this is what Nigerians want to see and hear. |
These people self. You drive away 100 billion dollars investment by your clueless policies and attracted 1.2 billion and you want us to celebrate? You increase fuel price from N200 per liter to N1300. Later you brought it to N1000 and want us to celebrate. You changed the exchange rate from N460 to 1 dollar to N2000 to 1 dollar. Later you brought it to N1700 and want us to celebrate. Let the APC and Ronu people keep celebrating. |
tiger28:Like what? |
ElSudani:I disagree with you. If Tinubu has that 12 billion now, he will squander it on nothing. There are lot of things to do to improve the economy but he is doing nothing. Only praising himself. There is a lot of leakages in the system but his only interest is on dollar, tax and petrol. More than 50% of Nigerian's imports are are raw materials which can be produced in the country. If the government is serious, they can cause a massive change in agriculture that will be noticeable to replace most of the raw materials import. There are lots of things to do to cause massive changes in Nigeria economy but the government is blind to all of them. All the attention is on oil forgetting that there are many countries that are doing well without oil. |
During the military era, everyone looks forward to budget presentations. People will stay with their radios and TV to listen with much enthusiasm. After the presentation, the Minister of finance will take time to break everything down to tangible facts. People will know the number of roads government will build and cost of each. He would say of water, hospitals and the things government will do, how and when. Everyone will understand and follow the progress of the government. These days, budgets presentation are mere ritual to fulfill all righteousness. They hide under infrastructure and security. No one understands anything and no is interested. At the end, the Legislature will do the padding work. The president looks the way and so it becomes their business. The citizens are actually not interested. |
alanto:Impressed by what you did not understand, Na wa for you! |
Good initiatives if the government is serious. In Nigeria, the universities will lobby to get the money. They will be required to employ consultants with 50% of the money. Then the will use 45% to clear the farm land. They manage the remaining money to acquire 50 pigs. Feeding the the pigs will be a big problem. By the time you go there in the next 6 months, the grasses will be back. You will hardly see anybody around there. No questions asked, no one will be hold accountable. Life continues as Nigerians. |
Oyindamolah:Is Iytehosting Nigerian, because the one that disappointed me is a Nigerian host. Moreso, they will just list the various packages without telling you the implications. How am I supposed to know the number of persons that will respond to my ad and visit my site? |
Porn is addictive. Life is not perfect for all. It is not good to abandon her in a time like this. Mere telling her to stop it is not enough. It is a fight. You have to fight with her to win. The addiction can be stopped but not with mere advice. She needs to see the destructive effects of porn first, then her brain will begin to reset. The book "How we quit Porn and Masturbation " will help if you can get it for her. |
ecomalchemistt:That's exactly what I did. As an Accountant, I got tired of working on old records and on the money that other people ate. But digital marketing no easy oh. My website just crashed. They said the traffic I sent there is bigger than it's capacity. So am back to square one. |
shivisee:Trash, For your mind now, you have said something, meanwhile all you said is trash. |
Maybe Tinubu has repented from grabbing, snatching and running with elections. This is the statement that empowered thugs and Agberos to disturbed elections in Lagos. But no problem, let's keep this advice for him come 2027. |
ike007:No sir, You're wrong. Note that there is a question mark at the end of the heading. It is speculative, suggesting that the writer is not sure. He couldn't have said " Davido was paid " when he is not sure. |
Wallade:So , you want me to believe this when even your people here have started threatening and bullying the RMAFC man here. Well it is not misinformation. |
Wallade:No , in Nigeria, VAT is paid where the company is located. So, we saying if he wants to make 6o% derivation, then companies like MTN should be tracked to pay VAT in every states where MTN products are used . |
Wallade:You , explain how it favours every states. He wants to make 60% derivation, when the headquarters of most of the companies paying VAT are in Lagos, Rivers, Ogun and Oyo. So if these 4 States take 60% of the VAT proceed , what is left for the other 32 states to share. So how does it favour them. Meanwhile, the products of these companies are consumed in all the states. These are the bone of contention. So south west are supporting it because Lagos, Ogun and Oyo states are the biggest beneficiary forgetting that Niger Delta states can as well ask for 60% derivation from Oil proceeds as well. How did Tinubu arrive at 60% with consulting the States and even RMAFC. This is the bad governance we are talking about. |
Bobloco:Don't mind them. Tinubu keeps destroying the country with every step he took and some ignorant folks keep supporting him. |
CodeTemplar:Man, you are not making any sense. The RMAFC man is right. Apart from VAT, don't companies pay other taxes and bills to where they are situated. VAT is consumption tax. If Tinubu want derivation as the basis for sharing the proceeds, Then goods and services should be tracked to where they are consumed. Companies like MTN should pay VAT in all the states since you think that you are wise. |
Shawarmagirl:Stop discouraging people. If votes don't count, Why do they buy votes. Did you know the amount these people spent in vote buying? You should rather advice people not to sell their votes. If GEJ can be voted out, then who is Tinubu. |
epainos:Mr man stop this your childish talk. So if two people are fighting in your presence you will allow them to die. See how you are talking like you're a god. |
Tinubu should go and rest with his tax bill. His only concentration is on money matters. Let him introduce bills to reform security, agriculture, election , corruption in government ,health and education before we can take him seriously. Why the obsession about money and tax. The op who was listing the benefits of the tax bill ended up saying nothing. He did not talk of 60% derivation and how it will benefit the States. He did not talk of how States will capture the real consumption of the residence. He avoided all the grey areas while listing vague benefits that are not measurable. They think we are fools in this country. |
Bobodee09:Well, not guilty, I don't pay because when you pay in this country, somebody will use his pen and corner it for his family use and nothing will happen. Even if he is caught. Until the country is ready to fight corruption and impunity in government, we are not guilty. |
Bobodee09:That's why our tax collection is very low. In advance countries, it is not a joke. They will track every transaction and ensure that the right amount of tax paid. Or you go to prison when you default. |
Bobodee09:Yes, you will include the VAT in the price you will sell it to me. Then when I pay, you will remove it and pay to the government through the Firs. |
Bobodee09:VAT is value added tax. This is how it works. When you import cars or other goods, you pay VAT based on the duty you pay. It is not based on the value of the goods. Then when you sell the car or the goods, you made some profit. This means that you have added some values to the car or the goods. So you pay another VAT based on the value you added. That's if you make 100k as profit. You VAT will be based on that profit not on the value of the car. If the person who bought it sell it and make some profit, he will still pay VAT based on the profit he made. It goes on like that. This is how VAT works. |
Bobodee09:Guy, don't argue what you don't know. You pay 7.5% of your assessed duty as VAT, . Later the customs passed The VAT to Firs. That's how it works. You can ask anyone. I don't need to post any receipts because it is a common knowledge. |
That's it. You are busy chasing tax bill in the system that allows one individual to pocket all the taxes collected in one year and walk away Free. Tackle corruption, no. But you are only interested in where to generate more money to loot. Let Tinubu present bills on corruption, security and electoral reforms before proceeding with the tax bill. This is our stand. |
